This happens everyday
> Picks phone up to test changes to mobile app
> oh look I got a notification
> Scroll, Scroll, like, like, lol, lmao, that's gross, lol, haha
> 5 minutes goes by
> Puts phone down
> Goes back to computer
> What the fuck am I forgetting....2 -
!rant
@dfox, I think it will be nice to have a favorite rants feature. @purged threw out some great advice for junior devs which (as a junior dev myself) will like to read over and over again. I had to take screenshots so I can have it somewhere. Having it in a favorite collection within the app will be great.1 -
What is with the +1 chasing in here? Votes should be given for good rants and comments, not to climb the count-ladder if that somehow would make you elite community member. Posting a picture you found elsewhere just to earn free stickers or a stress ball, and pollute the incentive the swag were meant for originally.
Stop mass +1'ing some random guys every comment, and earn the votes by contributing with stories, lessons learned, proper rants and supportive comments.5 -
I love coding
But I hate coding
But I love coding
But I hate my buggy IDE
But I love coding
But my back hurts from all that sitting
But I want to work on my side project
But at times, it's frustration.MaxValue
But anything remotely related to coding I find interesting
But it's so hard to abide by good practices
But I love coding
But progress is so fizzlingly slow
But I love that elegant solution of the other day
But it took me 57 attempts to arrive at that elegant solution
But the shit I'm building is so cool
But

I know this is not a dev joke, but I laughed so hard:
Father bought a lie detector that makes "beep" whenever somebody lies around it. The son comes home this afternoon.
Father ask him:
"So, you where at school today, right ?"
Son:"Yeah"
Detector:"Beep."
Son:"OK, OK, I was in a cinema"
Detector:"Beep."
Son:"Alright, I went for a beer with my friends."
Father:"What ?! At your age I would never touch alcohol!"
Detector: "Beep."
Mother laughs:"Ha ha ha, he really is your son!"
Detector: "Beep."1 -
Have been working on a project for a year, something that wasn't out yet, and I am very close to finishing it... Just heard that a company has been developing the software for two years and is about to be done. #FML5

Realising if you'd only studied a degree in computing, you would be useless in the real world as a developer6

Who shares this struggle?
I have a 9-5 development job and I also have a personal web application I am building and plan to bring to production.
There are simply not enough hours in the day. I struggle to find enough time to work on my personal project while still performing well at the 9-5 and spending some time with my family so I'm not absent.
Agh I wish I could pause time for productivity 😂29 -
Anybody else have trouble with getting stuck on very little things? Keeps happening to me in class and sometimes gets to me. I'll be able to finish most of my work in quick time and all is good (I get excited that everything runs so I'll write with some speed), but then some very very little bug is there and I get stuck on it for a very long time and I just feel bad about myself. I guess this does happen, what do you guys do to blow off some steam? I know I should just take my time since I'm still a beginner and I'll try to work on that.11

If only I had enough freelance work to quit my job and dictate my own hours. working hours would be 18:00 to 5:00.1

when you have to do this because the code looks correct but you're not sure what the heck is wrong because it doesn't make sense12

How everyone see weekends:
Its party time and I can finally sleep and watch movies as much as I want...
How devs see weekends:
Finally I can work more on this cool project...6 -
Starting a new side project, that I believe and my close friends believe will take off, want someone to bounce ideas off of, sadly I'm afraid someone will steal the idea :(9

I'm reluctant to introduce devRant to my co-workers because I'm worried they might connect the dots and realize I've been complaining about them :/8

when you're supposed to be pushing something live but you got the poops and need to run to the bathroom. then the client calls when you're sitting there on devrant halfway done with your business and you answer pretending you're pushing it live.2
