FUCK why did nobody warn me to NOT upgrade to mac os Catalina??? Cant do half shit here not even install goddamn photoshop!!!
Help
How do i downgrade?14 -
Run dual boot Mac Catalina and Win 10. Got a bunch of Razer shit from wife for Bday... super stoked. Big mat, mouse, keyboard.
Works like a charm on Win.
Works for fuck all on Mac. The app to manage device is no longer supported.
Went waaay down the rabbit hole trying to sniff the packets that were being sent to the devices via USB to sync their colors and patterns.
Finally give up that route.
I have now built a VM for windows to run synergy... then a VM for Linux for Polychomatic because the keyboard is older and not supported by synergy.
And I found if I boot them both then quit them both the settings for the peripherals stay until the next reboot.
But JFC... I literally have to boot three operating systems to pull it off.
Talk about some gift of the magi shit... I was so happy with the gift and at this point it has wasted dozens of hours.
Fuck fucking Razer. Looks cool. Doesn’t work.8 -
After updating to macOS Catalina, I can no longer use photoshop CS6.
and the newer versions require login with a licensed account.......
What to do...5 -
Thank you apple for making my macbook not boot anymore after catalina update. By not booting, I mean no fuckin nothing happens when you press the power button. It doesnt fuckin turn on anymore.
Apple service solution: replace mainboard for fucking 800 dollar.
Do I have to expext that a simple software update fuckin bricks my notebook? Wtf who expects that??? Its a 2018 spacegray macbook, lile gooddamn brandnew.
An yeah warranty expired two weeks ago.
I wonder if they do that shit on purpose.8 -
So, the future of Apple is ARM, huh? So people are gonna have to maintain, like, SEVEN toolchains for Mac? What, we've got one or two for Mac OS <10.0, 2 PPC OSX chains that are version-dependent, 2 x86 version-dependent x86, Catalina x86 and now Catalina ARM too?
(These are to memory, if i'm wrong please correct me.)23 -
To be honest I expected Big Sur to run somewhat slow on my old MacBook with core m3.
It runs faster and snappier than Catalina. And oh how beautiful it is.27 -
Tomcat catalina apache server needs to automatically restart each time you change at least 1 line of a CSS code in order to apply those changes on the web page and guess what
The time it takes to restart is between 30-60 seconds☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️🐟😂🤡☠️🤡🤡🤡🤡☠️🤡🤡☠️🤡🤡☠️🤡🤡☠️☠️🤡☠️🤡☠️🔥🔥🔥☠️🔥🔥🔥😦🔥🤡🔥🤡🔥🤡🔥🤡🔥🤡🔥🤡🔥🤡🔥🤡🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔫🔫😦🔫🔫🔥🔫🔥🔫🔥🔫🔫🔫😍🔫🔫🔫🔥🔫🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🔥🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🔥🔥🤪🔥🤪🔥🤪🔥🤪🔥🤪🔥🤪🍆🍆🔥🍆🔥🍆🔥🍆💦🍆💦🍆💦🍆💦🍆💦🍆💦🍆💦🍆🍆🍆💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦👋👋👋👋👋👋
basically if you talked shit about gradle, try apache tomcat.
imagine changing from padding: 10px; to padding: 100px; and waiting 60 seconds just to see this change.8 -
How rotten and half bitten is this most valuable Apple? See that they get quite some bashing for their latest Catalina release. And they deserve every portion of it, I think.
Honestly, when I saw our testers going through the different betas, which hardly installed and on which our software kept behaving differently, nevertheless they pushed their Golden Master and released. Didn't seem a good idea.
Currently I had to update to Catalina to check some small broken feature of ours and now the active window keeps on losing focus every few minutes. Have to grab the mouse and click there again to continue working. Really fucking annoying. Hope I can track it down some time.. or trash my iMac.2 -
I am an stupid human being. How many times should I experience the same problem to learn from it? I don’t know why should I possibly be obsessed by latest MacOS updates? This fucking error ruined my day. Those fucking idiot coders in Apple must use some unit tests (including transparent iTerm in second display). Fuck you all. My £1600 Macbook pro is literally useless until some fucking coder finds what is wrong in their NEW update.3

Ok so i just bought a 256 GB SSD macbook pro and long story short i actually have 200 GB of free space when you take everything that takes up the space.
The fucking Catalina OS upgrade takes 8 GB.
Is this enough memory for programming/work related stuff???23 -
Just wanted to make a clean install on my iMac. What could possibly go wrong?!
Cleaning the hard disk was interrupted by a process running (kextcache). Catalina wouldn't install ("Incomplete systen on target device". Dropping the terminal I could somehow force unmounting and wipe the disk. Had a BSOD in between. Catalina would still not install ("Failed to install pre boot volume"). Later erasing the disk got blocked by the kernel itself. Felt like trouble and it was: Next time I was greeted with a blinking folder containing a questionmark instead of the bitten Apple.
Last resort: Internet recovery. Installing El Capitan was said to take 7 hours so I took a USB time machine backup of latest Catalina. Installed it, but on reboot it get's stuck when progress bar is at 100%. But at least I've a working recovery again. Yeah, progress!5 -
Updated my Mac this afternoon to macOS Catalina. Apart from rearranging all my apps in Launchpad, the major change I notice is that the terminal is using zsh instead of bash... ok... cool. I don't know anything about zsh... what differences can I expect? Should I go back to bash?5

Are there some good external portable macbook pro monitors that have the vertical/portrait functionality? Also, it should be rechargeable and should not get power from my laptop when there's still a charge. (I use MBP 15" 2018 model)
We are agile at work (all use laptops, no permanent seats) and I need an extra portale monitor because there are no provided external monitors to use.
I was thinking of buying and iPad pro as a portable external monitor via catalina sidecar but it is laggy somehow and very expensive. Thanks! 🙂18 -
Ubuntu 🤬
only releasing amd64 image !! , supporting an instruction set architecture does not mean code is optimised for other microarchitecture
i thought linux distributions are do less and do way better than others, so why so much bloatware!!!.
ideally best way is to compile your own kernel and add minimal gui support as required, too much work !!!
also just a heads-up if you are using Catalina use virtual-box 6.0.22
also vivado 2019.2 is suable with ubuntu 18.04 + lightdm , remove that gnome shit15 -
I’m new to using gdb to debug. It could detect the places where I was getting SIGSEGV randomly. But there are also rare cases when the program just gets segmentation fault as soon as it starts, and it when that happens, even my gdb gets frozen and I have to shut down my terminal altogether.
What’s with this ? Is this some sort of kernel error (like Bus error) ? I’m using macOS Catalina and gdb 9.1.2 -
Fucking Apples hold my bananas! Collegue and me see our naïve thought refuted that a commercial vendor, most valuable company would create an OS that is not as split and fucked up as Linux distros.
It is hard even where to begin, so deep is the shitfest they are putting developers through with Mojave and Catalina.
Our testers weren't hardly able to install Catalina beta 6-7. Behavior of kernel extension and full disk access varying on a daily basis. Fixing these bugs is like nailing a pudding to the wall.
Makes me wanna quit software. Whom should you trust if even your OS is flaky as hell?8
