SCREWED OVER GOOGLE WITH MICROSOFT!!!! YES!!!
So as I'm deaf, I've always had a problem with captions or lack of them.
I thought Live Captions would fix it but it's only supported on selected devices and not enabled for calls and conferences like Zoom, WhatsApp.
I tried hooking up my sound card with an audio capble to my phone which has LC and also Live Transcribe... but somehow wouldn't pick up the audio.
Then today I was like wait... I could just install a Pixel emulator... excepy seems Google thought of that...
(I installed VB Cable virtual sound card and routed sound out to mic in).
Well first apparently, the emulator does not actually identify as Pixel... it identifies as an Emulator that sorta looks like Pixel...
Which means no LC...
I installed LT and also a sound meter which confirmed it was getting the audio but no transcription...
Though I tried GBoard and it sorta worked..
But I would like continuous transcription... and so I open the app store and try all the apps until I hit MSFT Translate...
Which has a convo mode which seems pretty much designed to screw Google over lol. Just need to start a Convo with myself...25 -
Fuck you google android IME team and fuck their open source policy..
So recently i had a chance to work with AOSP LatinIME code, basically our Android keyboard was forked from very old code base of LatinIME and my job was to change its base version to latest Version available on AOSP repository. Downloaded latest Android 8 codebase. Did 2 weeks of deep investigation of what improvements we will get from upgraded code base.
And I came to know that those Google fucking cunt sucking dick heads deprecated that project and broke the whole thing to a pice of shit. Half of the code is broken with fucked up todo stuff and motherfucking missing method implementation with not implemented warnings. What those motherfucker did is that they abandoned the open-source project after they released Google GBoard, and fucked the stable code by adding quard gram support and dictionary download with multi account features which was never completed by those motherfuckers..
Those misguiding donkey shit fuckers kept a depreciated project in AOSP build tree which has not received a single fucking commit from shitty ass Google IME team, is said to be reference model of Android IME implementation..
What kind of fucking shit is going with open-source code in name of making competition high with thirt party Android keyboard developers ..
Fucking shit fucking ime team .. fuck you .. wasted my fucking time reading your shitty code base .. Fucking shit1 -
I was playing around with Gboard. Started with "I" and selected everything that came after it. Read it after a while and this makes sense. I am moving to this place next week and I have used gmail to contact with real estate agent. Scary as fuck.12

Due to the constant change in accuracy of my keyboards' predictive algorithms, I now find myself switching between SwiftKey and GBoard... 😢😔
Anyone else feel the same?6 -
So I was playing with Gboard and decided to do a thing only with it's autosuggestions. This was a part of what I wrote with it "my friend says PHP4 I will throw it out of my system"
We can now conclude Google isn't as bad as we thought it was.2 -
What Google services are you still using? Earlier this year I made a conscious decision to avoid Google services if I can. I successfully got off gmail and gcal. Because I have yet to find viable alternatives, I am still using:
YouTube
Voice
Gboard
Android
Maps
Music
Home
Fonts (on occasion)27 -
Anyone know a good android keyboard for people who don't want any autocorrect?
Gboard has an empty top row wasting screen space if you disable suggestions. AnySoftKeyboard seems pretty slow. At the moment I'm using Chrooma, but its backspace has really annoying bugs.
What I'd really love would be a keyboard with macro functionality and where you could configure your own layout. But I guess that doesn't exist :/16 -
This damn Google Gboard voice typing switches between German and English, although in the settings only German is enabled.... This is so annoying goddamn...1

Some business users have been chasing me all week to produce a report using some old report with some modifications.
I didn't write the old code and have no context as to what the data is.
My current reaction is:
so you want a report that says X using some vague input which you haven't clearly defined or explained to me...
Have you heard about black boxes and overfitting (i.e. reverse engineering a process based on sample data)?
TLDR: I can generate a report that will say anything you want it to say... doesn't mean it will be right in future use cases.
Why don't people (originally GBoard suggested peepee) understand "junk in = junk out" -
Clicked on a funny devRant post
Chuckled immensely
Clicked back arrow
Still saw image and back arrow
Spammed back but nothing happened
Turns out the burn-in on my phone is so bad that it still shows that back arrow on the rant feed...
P.S. After typing that I saw that the edges of gboard was also burned into my display uggghhhhh3 -
IOS keyboard is utter garbage. IOS as a whole is utter garbage, but the keyboard is the cream of the crop of garbage.
Wasting a user's time and destroying/changing the user's input against their wishes is malicious design of the highest order and this dumpster fire excels in it.
Type something completely valid and autocomplete changes it to something that doesn't makes sense. It not only gives you a terrible suggestion half the time, it will also change previous parts of the sentence that it somehow allowed you to keep. If you reject its suggestion, it deletes your current word and previous word(s), instead of restoring it to what it was before it made the terrible suggestion, like every other keyboard does.
Need to go back and adjust your sentence? If you tap it will hijack the cursor and highlight the nearest word it doesn't like instead of moving the cursor where you touch. If you accidentally hit a character on the cramped and unusable keyboard, congrats, you get to type the word again.
I know about hold space to drag the cursor.
I don't want Apple to decide for me that I actually wanted to go to the closest word it doesn't like, or the current word, or the next word based on a dice roll. I want the cursor to go where I tap. Like literally every other input device functions.
Want readily accessible numbers and punctuation? lol no
I know there's gboard, but compared to Android it's also almost unusable. This leads me to believe the keyboard is little more than a skin over the IOS keyboard engine, like Safari, another IOS dumpster fire. But, it is slightly better than the stock keyboard, which isn't saying much.
I yearn, minute by minute, for the time I can ditch this dumpster fire for a real phone.11 -
Having android since galaxy s1.
Still can't manage to decide what keyboard I like most.
Using Gboard and Fleksy sporadically.
SwiftKey is out for now, cause of bug in my native language.
Any suggestions?4 -
Does anyone else have the problem with GBoard when you swipe for code it always default to coffee?10

Android: Gboard has stopped
Close app
Send feedback
(ok, try again, same thing)
presses "send feedback" - O_o and how exactly do I type now?4 -
Why did Gboard stop putting automatic spaces after using a word from the predictive typing bar after writing a word with ex. a misspelling?! It adds a space after words picked from the list while typing the word but not when changing it after the fact.
Why did the change this! Now I'm constantly writinglikethis which is extremely annoying!!! It wasn't like this a few weeks ago!!3 -
!dev, sort of
So, apparently my Play Store settings get reset when I restart my phone, so Google decided to update Google Keyboard to Gboard for me (and god-fucking-dammit, that shit is absolutely useless to me). I can find older .apks on websites like APKmirror for Google Kinstall but they won't install, saying that "it seems like the package is corrupt". I'm not sure exactly why this might be happening, but according to APKmirror’s FAQ it might have something to do with cryptographic signatures or that a newer version is already installed on the device. Gboard is disabled and I assume that should be enough for that, and I don't know if it would even detect it as the same app in the first place, so my best guess is that it’s got to do with the former which is why I'm turning to you guys.
Does anyone have advice for a solution? I don't have any problems getting another keyboard either if needed, but I would really like something that both has separated layouts per language, as well as a similar swipe-to-type function, since excessive tapping really aggravates my CTS. :/ Any suggestions?1
