Teaching maths to my niece and instead of 2+2=4, I wrote 2+2==4... someone needs break from coding 😂2
My friend once told me an incident.
One day he was using Ubuntu and his 10 years old niece, who was only familiar with Windows, saw him using terminal.
She then said this, in an amused tone:
Oh my god Ubuntu is really smart. In Windows I have to point to things to make it understand. But here we can talk to the computer and it obeys?
I think she's right !! :)
Linux is like black hole. Once in, never out !!3
I asked my 7-year-old niece to either do her holiday homework or do 100 Sit-ups, without saying a word she went out of the room so I thought she had gone to collect her books but instead, she came back with a water bottle and said: "start counting now".5
This is just like me when I play with my baby niece to remove some stress from work. Effectively recharges me and can code again even if I'm tired29
A coworker asked me to give him a hand on a project last thursday at around 8:00pm, by Friday noon I had most of it complete. Then turn the code back to him. Then somehow , it got placed on me during the weekend....20 mins before leaving to San antonio to be with my sister while my niece was born. Yeah...no..sorry...guess who enjoyed SA this weekend? This guy. Past experiences have shown me that one should not sacrifice personal time for company bs. Specially here in south texas where the majority of employers are from Mexico. In Mexico, there is no worker appreciation culture, going above and beyond the line of duty to accomplish tasks is not met with any sort of consideration. So nope nope nope nope.18
I was playing kitchen with my niece today and we were baking a cake. After she put it in the toy oven, without thinking, I spat out:
"How long do you think it will build for?"
I've never seen such a confused look 😂
I was at a family event, and you know that one aunt who won't stop talking and asking you questions? Yeah she was basically harassing me, and since family and all I can't really ignore her even though I really want to.
In comes my 3 year old niece, who just walks towards us like a badass, pats that aunt's leg and goes "no one likes to talk to you!"
I need my niece as my personal bodyguard and human filter.1
Finally gifting my sister, on the occasion of my sisters recently born baby's 21st day..,
My old laptop with Linux installed and with an update to Samsung evo 860 ssd.
She is new to linux, not so new. Hope she will find good stuff to prepare for the next job as she is on maternity leave.1
Looking for a suggestion here. I am looking to introduce my wife's niece to the "art of computer science". I am looking for something basic yet fun. So far, my plan is to help her design her own website with a blog.15
I am the only engineer in my company, we develop and sell software solutions to a niece market.
In 1 year and a half i developed software for Android, IOS, Windows Desktop, web applications and an IoT solution........... My code has not a single line of comment....2
Ive been looking for a contact manager for Android with a certain feature, but can't find anything for it.
Ive got quite lot contacts on my phone and some of them are from people online (devRant and other communities) as well as family, friends, old classmates etc.
Sometimes I forget who is who and thus Ive to add people as: "Jane (devRant)", "Jane Doe (Niece)", "Jane (Classmate school A)", "Jane (Classmate school B)"
Now I am looking for an app that allows for adding tags to a contact (preferably multiple) to avoid polluting names with something behind the name.
I dont need any cloud saves for it, although I would like it to be able to export/import it to csv, xml or json.
Does anybody know an app that fits my needs?3
