I'm so happy with my full stack basic test web application made with: raspberrypi, uwsgi,nginx,python3,flask,sqlite3,render_template,html
I have 2 pages:
/users where I can see the whole users table and filter by id
/insertuser (in the image) where I can add an user to the table users4 -
If all phone manufacturers could just ship their Android devices with an sqlite3 executable installed, my day would be so much easier.9

Have you ever tried using sqlite3 from npm inside a docker container?
Yeah, it doesn't build on Alpine, despite being among the most popular Linux distros thanks to Docker.1 -
Spent 4 hours working with a buddy before realizing our failing code stemmed back to using sqlite3 Npm package, which is asynchronous. Switched to better-sqlite3, a synchronous sqlite package, and alls good.
What's the purpose of an async DB anyway? Seemed like it made storing and retrieving data a huge hassle. -
Quick disclaimer, it is easily googlable, but no matter where I search, I can't find a solution. This is why I'm trying here.
Okay, so the other day, I was trying to install the node package sqlite3, and it spat out errors all day long from the node-pre-gyp native module and from the node-gyp native module. I am using the latest LTS (as of 5/10/2018), and I can't get any answers on HOW TO FIX IT...! Please HALP ASAP!12 -
I'm supposed to write a term paper about a scrappy python/sqlite3 project I put together in a day. And even though mine is the most advanced of all the student's programs (it's cocky but it's true), I feel so ashamed... It is so scrappy and useless... Now I'm supposed to pull something out of my ass, what I did or how I did it sounding all pretentious and proud. After I get my grade I'm wiping it off my disk for sure!1

This is the most f*cking frustrating moment in my life. I am trying to install node-sqlite3, but I am constantly failing to install OR use the thing. The problem is, it is only compatible with node versions 4.x to 7.x. I tried my hardest to make it work with node 8 and higher, but failed miserably. If anyone has suggestions, write in the comments.2

I decided to use Docker Compose on a tiny project that essentially consists of an API and a Caddy server that serves static files and proxies to the API, all of this running on an EC2 t1-nano. I made this admittedly odd choice because I wanted to learn Compose and simultaneously forego figuring out why the node-gyp bindings for sqlite3 refuse to build on EC2 even though it builds just fine on my machine.
I am storing secrets in .env which is committed into the private GH repo. Just now I came across a rant that described the same security practice and it sounded pretty bad from an outside perspective so I decided to research alternatives.
Apparently professional methods for storing secrets generally have higher system requirements than a t1-nano. I'm not looking for a complex service orchestration system, I'm not trying to run an enterprise on this poor little cloud-based raspberry pi. I just want to move my secrets out of the Git repo,
Any tips?9 -
Python rant. Why does my 500 line Flask file look like one long oblong, & why am I adding comments that say “end of function” in *any* programming language when surely clear visual marking of this should be built in? Why did I spent 2 hours debugging SQLite3 dict factory function only to find the issue was a misaligned indented function block that my linter hadn’t picked up on because it appeared to be a logic error. Why do you make my missing tab spaces into logic errors Python? And why does everyone insist that curly braces are just as bad? Not in my world Python. Also, stop returning obscure objects unannounced like I’m supposed to know about it in advance, and stop making me run an entire file only to find I have another mystery type error because I expected x and got y. I hate you Python!!4

ARGGHH ? WHY !?
[user@localhost pkgconfig]$ ls

libjpeg.pc libpng.pc libssl.pc libtls.pc sqlite3.pc
[user@localhost pkgconfig]$ pkg-config --cflags "openssl"
Package openssl was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `openssl.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable

Hello, I am software engineer student and I am still learning but I would like to start a project to help a friend. The idea is to create a simple DB to manage stock of products, generate a few barcodes and have a few other simple things... btw the program needs to run on a small usb drive... yeah no server or anything.... but has do be like this for now. I was thinking about creating a QT interface for him to interact with the DB (sqlite3, is for a small shop), and for the extra functionalities. However I remembered of you guys and would like to ask for advice :) (I know there are free solutions for his needs, but I wanted to take the opportunity to learn more C++ and improve myself as a developer)4 -
1. When we struggled for month with using OpenSSL, fixing our server, then bit of Sqlite3 fuck ups. Was it even right to use those libs, not write shit ourselves, if it is such a hassle to use them, or is it only us being too stupid to read the docs? Project seemed 'finished' for over a year. Really wore us out to get it out there.
2 Our board constantly announcing the success and striving of our pentester department. Makes me feel I am at the wrong place. No dynamics, growth, just too much stupid work to plow through.
3 Starting a bit with CTF's. Realizing I am hardly at the entrance of the rabbit hole. (And also is it even the right thing going down there? My Luddite tendencies also shining through...) Not mastering all this tools.
