Rant time. So, me and a few classmates finally finished and handed in a website for a web development class a few days ago. Before we handed it in, we had a meeting with the professor to discuss what we still needed to do.

Us: Are we missing anything?
Prof: Nope. Looks good. Just make sure you have stylus implemented.
Us: Cool, thanks.

We got our grade back today. We didn't do as great as we'd hope, and here's one of the comments that the professor left us:

"You forgot to implement all of the CRUD operations. -4"

WHAT THE **** IS THAT? We asked you if we were missing anything, and you said no. You reminded us about stylus, which we looked at ONCE in a 13-week class, but you failed to remind us that we needed all of the CRUD ops?

Just gonna leave this here because I am too lazy to write a proper article for my website:
If anyone is trying to create a Vue.js website with Node.js backend do NOT use express-vue, it is unnecessarily complicated and broken. Instead use this method I found.
You will need:
- IntelliJ IDEA / WebStorm / other IDE supporting multiple modules per project and tasks
- Nodejs and npm
- vue-cli

Step by step:
1. Create new empty project
2. Add your frontend module using vue-cli generator
3. Add your backend module using Express generator
4. Run npm build in your frontend module once
5. Move or remove public folder in your backend module
6. Create a symlink from your backend module root called public pointing to dist folder in your frontend module root
7. Make sure to add "Run npm build" from frontend module to your "bin/www" task (default task for Express module)
8. Enjoy developing your REST API in Node/Express and your frontend in Vue.js with single-file components and it being served by the same server that is providing the backend.
(Since they are separate modules and you are not mixing webpack and Node/Express you can add ts-loader, stylus-loader, pug-loader or any other loaders without screwing anything up)

For deployment you just need to copy the contents of dist into public on the server. (and not upload the symlink)

Made a stylus with Reynolds butterflow and ear bud.
Just have to slightly moisten the ear bud.
And have to maintain contact with the silver part of the nib cover.

I love CSS, but don't like preprocessors (like SASS, Less, or Stylus) :/ There's nothing more beautiful than vanilla CSS with zero workflow :)

What's the better stylesheets language?

I love writing my styles with Stylus but I really hate Every second I have to work with CoffeeScript or Jade. The purpose is great, but it's so ugly and really splits the community doing more damage than good from my perspective. So ugly!

So today my internship started and I'm to install virtual box and vagrant ok that's simple😊 now it's what comes after that's got me shitting myself laravel/homestead 😟 never heard of it 😨 themosis never heard of it and what the fuck is stylus... I got a lot of catching up to do

Educate me if you saw me as an ignorant piece of f but are there any tablet with stylus pen support that are almost input-lag free like the apple pencil with iPad? I once tried it in the store and boi did it truly impress me, also I haven't seen anything else close to it, I tried the Samsung ones, they didn't look to me as fast as the apple pencils

I tend to do a lot of sketching and note taking and like to use pen on paper. But sick of tearing out notes and accumulating bits if paper that contain notes here and there. I was thinking of going digital with this specific task (for cheap) i don't own an ipad so was thinking of getting a Fire HD 8" and a Boxwave EverTouch stylus. Im all Apple so don't know android, would this hardware do the trick and what would be a decent note taking and organising app for it? Appreciate any advice comments. Other uses for it are irrelevant.

Assuming Mac: Alfred for OS such as searching and opening apps, using spaces to setup smart project areas, divvy app to quickly size and move around the windows, terminal shortcuts to open files in the OS or in an editor, transmit for hidden files and dragging between panes and server + occasional mounting for preprocessing, inbox-zero mentality, a properly setup google drive app so you don't email forked files back and fourth, beanstalk for deployment of larger stacks, surge.sh for targeted front-end sites, Ember CLI or brunch for build pipelines, CodePen for UI experiments outside of the project, slack instead of email, pick up the telephone and just call for clarification more often, stylus is easier to maintain then scss, hire designers that actually know what their job is if you can. For arduous WordPress administration, rightclick open in new tab for everything - or half your time will be pushing the back button, wp-migrate pro, and in general try to get out of WP when you can.

If I never see the extension .scss again it will be to soon! #stylus

I decided to re-write some old CSS in Stylus. 2 hours later something happened with the connection to the server I'm being forced to work off of. DOH! I'm pretty impressed with Transmit's ability to mount things and for me to be able to preprocess, but I have to use codeKit instead of broccoli or something, and clearly something in the chain is not OK.

A lot have been moving forward using preprocessor such as less, sass & stylus.
There are some developer still (who just knows it but don't use it), make changes on the minified CSS in directly.

Had to fix some bugs in some really old ASP code today. Need Front Page Server Extensions which doesn't work after XP. Spin up a VM, install XP, IIS, FPSE, then we need Visual Studio 2003 because the project won't migrate. Turns out - installing 'Visual Studio 2003' is a prerequisite for installing 'Prerequisites for Visual Studio 2003'. Cheers Microsoft 😯

Stylus is better than sass

I've just discovered Jade and Stylus, making webpages for my projects might actually be awesome again!

I'm curious what other people's experiences have been with these two technologies?

A retraction/update to my previous rant: use Stylus over Stylish for dark website themes. It is a fork of Stylus before it was bought by an analytics company. Thanks to those who pointed it out.
