My classmate is a real SAVAGE!!
He (team leader) and his team participated in hackathons several times and kept losing.
He noticed something common about winning team, majority of those team members were women, even if they were non technical and their project was pure bs, they were winning in the name of women empowerment.
This time he came out with a plan, he fired his boys and invited women into his team, and even made one girl the team leader.
Result? HE WON!!!
NOT ONE BUT THREE HACKATHONS BACK TO BACK
His so called women team was invited by Google to pitch their startup idea.
Now, if they gets funding, he's gonna kick out these women and bring back his teammates32
A couple of goodies here:
1 - The guy that said 'I prefer to work remote so noone can bother me. I will never answer my phone if you try to call me, and emails will only be read the second I arrive at work and never again. Do not disturb me at all. I decided not to bother him again with another interview request.
2- I personally interviewed at a gaming company in Dundee, Scotland and they wanted me to create a JS application, on video call to them, on Google Docs, and that they had set aside 3 hours for this whilst they watched me and ate lunch. I apologised, said that was the most absurd thing I've ever heard of, and cancelled the interview and hung up without saying bye.
How the fuck can any sort of developer think that's okay to try to make people do?
Well I've been at a new company for the last 6 months now, and I've just discovered that job is still being advertised.4
Bittersweet moment today, the interns last day was today, the improvements they made over the last 4 months, putting up with my “Gordon Ramsey” style attitude... definitely goes down in the books as one of best groups of freshman interns. They all truly thanked me for what they learned I sat them down and did a code review with them... but fooled them and showed them code they wrote 4 months ago.. they totally forgot about.. and couldn’t believe it was their own code.. that’s the level professionalism and improvement they made writing embedded software in 4 months.. they can’t wait to for next summer, neither can I.
Even had some of the electrical interns asking our department manager if they could switch to more software focused during their next rotation. Just so they can be under me.
I may be hard and a dick at time... but they learn! And it says a lot when you have college students impacted enough and see other students benefit so much that the “outsiders” wanna switch majors or focuses.!3
There should be a TV show where junior programmers make a software and then one famous senior programmer finds bugs, yell at them and fixes it. The name of the show will be "Coding nightmares".15
I fucking hate people,
I provide a free service for people, and some decide it is a great idea to abuse the shit out of it.
Deliberately adding a bug to production so I could get a visit from the cute girl in the front desk.
preface: I'm fucking exhausted and angry.
Why does everyone assume I know how to do frontend?
Why am I always the design girl?
You hire me to do backend. STOP GIVING ME FRONTEND DESIGN CRAP. I HATE IT.
AND STOP GODDAMN YELLING AT ME FOR NOT MAKING SOMETHING RESPONSIVE.
I DON'T KNOW HOW.
yes i can learn, but I CAN'T FUCKING PICK UP A SKILL LIKE THAT IN A DAY. Also, I fucking hate it.
STICK IT UP YOUR (min-width: 1400px) ASS.
But seriously, I've spent 13 hours today figuring out completely new things (webpack, susy, express.js, cloudinary, responsive best practices, more webpack) because the boss is in panic-mode (his preferred state) and wants this project released last monday.
guess what? it isn't done.
because i still don't know how to do everything. and ofc there's nobody to ask because there never fucking is.
Seriously, boss-man. hire a fucking designer, and stop being an illiterate sales goon while you're at it. ffs.54
Is it expected for a new arrival to post a 'Hello World'? Only I don't normally do what's expected. Actually, I don't normally do normal. Then again, I don't know what I am doing most of the time. Or where I am. Or who I am.34
Teacher : use"ransomware" in a sentence

*plug in LAN cable
Boss: Ahaaaaa! It works now. Please, next time make you develop website wifi compatible.
She: I like people who takes risks.
He : I develop in a prod server.
She: My place or you place? 😉3
Me: I'm gonna be productive today. Will complete this task in one hour!
*starts coding enthusiastically*
After two minutes...

*accidentally notices the time*
Crap! 1.5 hours gone waste....7
That feeling when you try to get entries from a mongodb and it doesn't put out anything, not even errors and after 4 FUCKING HOURS trying, googling and looking around on stackoverflow, you realize THAT THE PROGRAMM DIDN'T EVEN CONNECT TO THE DATABASE
That's the stupidest problem I ever had IN MY ENTIRE FUCKING LIFE
Thanks devRant, I feel better now.4
Silicon valley season 1 - episode 10
Why did I miss my turn while driving ? I was dreaming about authentication strategies in micro services.2
Just had a recruiter turn me down because my GitHub commit frequency wasn't high enough, I asked for a link to the employers GitHub account, "sorry, they don't contribute to open source projects".8
