Yesterday, I was expecting my merge request to be closed.
I've done all the stuff my tech lead told me to do.
All tests passes, green light boyzzzzz.
Gitlab CI pipeline passes, greeeeeen light I said.
In Jenkins everything f*cked up...
Well it was a conflict with 3 other MRs, missing rebase from other dudes.
And because they were remote working, got to clean up all this mess.
That's was a day off.
PS : well that's was not so off, I could fix a UB on a ternary and extend a test which was not covering some cases.
PS2 : learn git damn3
I was expecting a 4th interview this afternoon for a position as a fullstack elixir developer.
Got a response from the CTO.
'Even if you pass all the tests with success, we could not go further because you're a junior and we're looking for a senior'
Well, dude, you've seen me 3 times and didn't understand that I was a junior ? My CV is not enough explicit ? It's written at the top of it...
So after a motivation interview, technical test, technical interview and Phoenix framework interview, they only realized yet the plot.
Good luck for your seniors to pass their knowledge to other seniors.20
What’s up DevRanters.
Is what’s up still up today ?
Sooo, my question is, what’d you do for your privacy ?
I’m using Signal and Riot.im for chat, ProtonMail for email (tutanota in the future).
But I’m using iPhone, can we really trust Apple ? Is this better on Android with a specific ROM ?
Same for computers (btw I’m not an Arch user 😎).19
I’m just in love with Docker.
My enterprise finally accept to give it a try.
NB : We have tons and tons of VM for nothing.4
Just reed a comment in the fucking shitty codebase im working on :
/* temporary fix */
I’m fucking done guys !2
God bless Silenz App for Mac, I can listen to music and stay aware of the bullshit discussion around me.
Happy SysAdmin day ... even if I’m wondering if sysadmins can be happy.
Source : xkcd (of course...)1
Today me :
It’s 9 am, let’s work a bit, open the terminal, type vim.
What a mistake.
It’s 7 pm, still don’t do anything yet, just browsing some cool stuff on vim, vimawesome.com
Today was a good day.2
When I began my sandwich course in a big French company, I was dreaming about cutting edge stack, rocket computer and stuff...
I was disappointed when I came to my office with an old Windows 7 computer, coding via LANDesk to an old server with Windows Server 2008 on it, with Eclipse ... INDIGO...
I have to use Java 1.7 ...
PRTG for monitoring...
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 ...
Coding on a codebase where, indubitably, MVC pattern was just a weird thing in books.
Well it really disappointed me.
Luckily, the Information Service was very open minded and gave me a laptop with Fedora, 3 screens, updated the servers, and let me update the stack, with Java 10, Angular for the front, they are okay for using Docker.
So ... even if it seems to be fucked up, there’s still hope !!4
I finally came to that conclusion:
Customers doesn’t really know what they are buying.
IT company doesn’t really know what they are selling.2
I hate JS...
I hate CSS...
What can be worse ? ...
*guy at work* : hey what do you think about CSS in JS, should we try it for our codebase ?
*other* : yeah why not ?
Me : *make a gun with my fingers, gently putting it in my mouth, remember all good things in life, no regrets* *gun noise*
But I seriously hate CSS and UX stuff.2
Hey devRant people !
How are you ?
I’ve a question, do you know a website like FrontendMaster, CloudAcademy or LinuxAcademy but ... for backend stuff ?
EdX, Udemy and all are very good but I would like to find a platform specialized in this topic.3
