Dear fellow frontend devs: either name your classes like-this or like_this, but don't mix the two, because I will punch you.10

Recruiters, please understand that only because Java and Javascript share same Letters its not the same language ! Just like Ham and Hamster are not the same thing3

Our designer (and frontender) just saved my ass big time. Had to do a tiny project involving design and frontend so I gave it a try and it looked like crap, deadline in a week. The designer made the most beautiful thing in like two days.
Kudos to all designers for doing what they're good at and ensuring that we, backenders (and cyber security people for that matter), can do our thing without having to worry about knowing how to design stuff and create interfaces because we might hate doing that and sometimes just really suck at it.
Kudos designer guys/girls!8 -
My weirdest ever co-worker was a man who called himself "the code" and wrote exclusively JavaScript.7

PM: What are you going to do today?
Expected-
Me: execute some junits.
Actual-
Me: execute some joints.
Sad auto corrects, flow keyboards.3 -
Do you ever wonder if your coworkers talk about you behind your back? Or wonder if they hate you? Or am I just too paranoid?5

Am I the only one that seems to lose the capacity to type when a person comes next to me and starts looking at my screen? It's so frustrating.10

I always end my iOS apps with an anonymous inner function. Call me sentimental, but it gives me a sense of closure1

Every time I mess up my git branch I usually find that its pretty futile to fix it with fancy commands like 'git reset', 'git prune', 'git rebase', etc. I usually find it easier to just start over from scratch.
They should really add a command for that
'git fuck-it-start-over'9 -
CTO joined us to interview a web fullstack today.
Amongst many battle analogies, he said "Fuck the corrupt and the weak. We keep only the best here"
If he watches 300 a couple more times, I think he will start wearing leather underwear and a red cape to work.3 -
Just noticed on "winehq" that the acronym for "Wine" is "Wine Is Not an Emulator". This is great and all, but all my mind can think about is the infinite recursion problem they've got there.11

-You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.
-What mood is that?
-Last-minute panic.5 -
99% disk usage? Ah, Windows is updating. Guess I'll just go ahead and get nothing done then. Oh, devRant!1

Our PM found a contractor, results as expected..
Contractor: "The file you supplied is corrupt, some areas are greyed out and damaged"
Me: "😐, do you mean the comments?"
Contractor: "I'm not sure what you mean 'the comments'"
Me: "Does the file work as expected?"
Contractor: "Yes"
Me: "Strange! I'll have a chat with our PM and get this issue resolved right away 😉"
...
if(!contractor) {
return Promise.resolve()
}1 -
PM blindly puts user requests into JIRA as tasks to complete without thinking through their relevancy. Some of these are straight up not possible or don't make any damn sense. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ just a constant reminder how great it will be when I leave here at the end of the month.1

The biggest problem with many open source projects is that they are built by very clever people, trying to show other very clever people just how clever they are.9

Gah! Person in work has an issue I suggest a fix and even give them the bleeding code. For them just to say it won't work due to x y and z, I know it will work heck I use this 'fix'. Then later someone who has been there longer gives them the same fix and they are suddenly all appreciative. Ffs wouldn't be so annoyed if this was the first time this has happened.1

Just saw an ad on LinkedIn.
