Areally appreciate this "blackest black" theme. It's definitely gonna help devRant not drain my battery so much as I'm surfing on my Galaxy S8 Plus with it's AMOLED display.

Yay for saving battery! 12 12

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU ???

 Galaxy S8 5.8" Quad HD+ Super AMOLED (2960x1440)
 570 ppi

 Galaxy S8+ 6.2" Quad HD+ Super AMOLED (2960x1440)
 529 ppi

oh my fucking god, what kind of retard decided this ?

This resolution is waaaaay too much. It impacts performance and battery life a fuck ton and gives you absolutely nothing in return. I would be cordially surprised if there was someone in the world who could see more than 400 ppi. 300 is more than enough for most of the people.
God these fucks are annoying with their retarded marketing. And even more so, the people who buy these phones, because phone manufacturers can and will continue doing so.
 Flagship my ass.14

I have not gotten a new phone in years. I am happy with my current one but unfortunately you need fucking at least 4gb of ram in your PHONE to run apps nowadays so it freezes frequently.

Watched the launch event for the OnePlus 7 very impressed. Price: high but not too high.

What they failed to mention, and I only found out a few hours later from a reviewer (Linus) is that they removed the audio jack. Come on guys that's just a dick move.

There are still enough redeeming qualities that I will purchase the device (90hz amoled 1440p 93% screen display? *Drooling*) but I am disappointed and feel slightly conned that in your detailed, 30 minute overview of the phone, you avoided mentioning this.21

Finally made good use of my RPi and setup pi-hole on it. After a painful 4hour long dist-upgrade and picking the right filters it is working like a charm. Why didn't I make this work earlier.

I've also wrote a little script which queries the api and displays different info on the AMOLED screen that was lying around unused for some time.

In case you are interested (from left to right and bottom), the traffic in the last 10 minutes with the max value on a graph, the most active clients query and blocked ratio as lines relative to the top one, and an overview of the total queries/ blocked queries and total clients.

At least I've finally spent a weekend useful not just playing games and watching anime. 5 5

Lets talk about our dream phone!

 Here's what mine would be...

Screen: 1440p AMOLED highly saturated screen.
CPU: Snapdragon 845 (Or whatever is on top)
 RAM: 4-6 GB
Storage: 16 GB internal OS reserved storage for the OS only but on the side would have 2 slots with the same locking mechanism as the sim tray to hold 2 hot swapable storage or battery modules.
OS: A modular version of stock android (By modular i mean a version of stock android that is designed to be installed on any device)
 Speaker: Dual front facing stereo
Ports: 2 usb-c ports on the bottom.

Special features: A portable desktop experience that when plugged into a monitor would give a chromeOS style experience with the phone acting as a touchpad.7

So I'm going to wait a bit longer to actually buy the phone since I want to have at least had my S7 for a year before I buy a new one, but for those who saw my other rant about buying a new phone, I've made a decision.

I'll be buying a One Plus 5. It's just... How can you even say there's a better phone out there? So far the only phone faster than it is the Note 8, and eventually iPhone 8. The only difference is that those phones are $1000, and the 1+5 is only just over $500. (Don't believe me? Go watch the phonebuff speed tests with it. It actually beat an iPhone 7+. The first phone to do that in a couple years)

Sure, it doesn't have any of that great screen tech in the S8. But it's still got a great AMOLED screen, and it's battery lasts much longer than most of its competition. And Dash charge is much faster than Samsung's fast charging. Did I mention it's only 500$? Selling my phone would make they $350! How tf is it even that cheap?

Look, I'm not saying other phones out there are bad. Not at all. Hell, I love Samsung's phones. But the 1+5 is just better than the S8 or any other current flagship.5

It would be great to get a blackout mode to save battery on devices with an AMOLED or OLED display as black pixels are off
Basically something like the Reddit darkmode1

					Update to watchRant!
(my second and probably last post about it)

watchRant client is mostly complete now!

Added: logging in, notif page, ranting, commenting, ++/-- of rants, search, amoled theme,

A surprise me btn for a random Rant (why is this not in the official app @_@, its in their API)

 And the best:

Sick rant animation of the client of @Simmorsal!!
 https://github.com/SIMMORSAL/...

some things are still missing: voting comments, stories page, comment/ranting with images (nobody takes images with a watch haha) ...

watchRant is also available on the PlayStore now (as sideloading to a watch isnt very convinient), but the latest updates will always be on github first

 For context: https://devrant.com/rants/6340608/...13

The frustration you get in designing when the colors you want in your prototype design isn't the same color in your device. SO FRUSTRATED. I use an amoled device as my test phone. Looks terrible. 5 5
