People doing those interactive graphics today, will never understand the joy of seeing an output of line drawing algorithm in C++.

Will be having first experience as a interviewer.
I pledge that I will ask practical and fair questions and pull the best out of the candidate.1 -
So we were talking with colleagues about the way french people pronounce the English "th" sound. When someone mentioned the example of "Darth Vader" (pronounced like "Dart" by some people), we imagined his choking gesture to actually be a dart throw.
This was my inspiration for this wallpaper. -
Seeing lot of images these days, not sure how much space this is going to cost devrant? @dfox (I love GIFs though)2

48 hours hackathon, Before 20 min everything working good and fine. Finishing touch and everything breaks. Finally, fixed 5 min prior to presentation start. Panicked to toes, were asked to present first. Result: Runners up. Hell yeah.

You tell them this design is going to be complex, do we really need it?
They say yes.
We come up with the solution with lots of hair loss.
They say, "this looks really complex, But we are glad you came up with this".

Reading all the week37 pranks, I really envy you folks. I mean these pranks are loud and big, won't others get distracted is my question? How do they let you work after these pranks? 😁1

Moments when you give wrong estimate and then have to sit up all night.
Fuck estimates. I will never get them right.1 -
The relative activity on devrant on weekdays is really less than weekends. Glad we have hardworking devs here.

Does anybody else dislike paranthesis less function call in ruby?
> a = something
How do I understand 'something' is a variable or a function?8 -
At workplace we work on other branches than master and I hate my empty contribution graph on Github :(
-
Usually it's customer support.
We are a small team, so developers handle support, on a rotation basis though. But this is a hell lot of distraction because of the context switch. :(
Sometimes there are really disturbing tickets like how do I call this API using HTML? (*cries in spanish) -
A question.
I understand ads on browsers that use cookies, but I don't understand how I get the same ad on a mobile app say instagram, for a search I did on laptop browser?
Thanks in advance.5 -
I wished to buy a MBP for myself, but this new version. I am not going to need any of that fancy touchbar and all. But again the previous version is too old. Looking for other options (lenovo preferably)4

When you are asked to show a minimal working demo of what you have been working on past 2 days but you realise you are in the middle of refactoring those 7 files. Now you don't want to undo nor have time to finish remaining work.

So today, at workplace, while discussing something we came at a point that why now a days many folks around us are screaming at JAVA or boasting about modern languages? where as many good concepts originated from it as well as even in many orgs the heavy lifting of huge tasks like in spark is done using java.
A thought came into my mind that, are we kinda becoming lazier by using languages like python, ruby which help to do tasks with little code?2 -
I wish to make most of the terminal with keyboard but again web app development needs constant switching to browser with mouse :/
