That moment when you finished your first REST API 🎉
And you realise all it can do is useless ☹️
But then you realise, you can extend the functions easily with you new knowledge 🎊
Man, this emotional up an down is exhausting 😆4 -
Vodafone, 2019
This is simply ridiculous
"Welcome to The United Arab Emirates. Warning - you have activated your mobile device overseas. Significantly higher charges may apply. While you're here, it will cost up to $20.89/min + 40c connection fee to make calls, $5/min to receive calls, $3.50 to send a TXT and data is charged $51.20/MB. It's free to receive a TXT. (...)."
Not Shure if other carriers are better, but with roaming on this rant would have, probably cost like 10$ :D12 -
Okay ... Windows, I really tried to be nice, but that's it. You get off my ssd right now ...
Just got the error: "filename is too long - unable to delete file" (full name incl. path)
Seriously, WHY?
I mean, sure ... Long file paths/names are a thing and this is why there are limitations. I am totally fine with it!
But Why the hell allows windows you to create those files if it is unable to delete these files later ...
I don't get it. Maybe I am just hit my head to hard as a child and someone may enlighten me ...
PS: windows was running in a VM to give it a real serious try after years on Linux4 -
I am here on devRant now for a while. Althought, reading amy of your stories and taking care of websites is not what I usualy tend to do, I started doing it as a favour for a friend of a friend.

A small part wants to know what is behind this link ...
If I decrypt the message correctly is says in German: "update of your credit rating. All infos: {link}"7 -
Windows .... You are amazing ... Managing to change my BitLocker Key without telling me, crashed you Update as always and asking for the new key you did not told anybody about to recover yourself ... Great ... Just great....
Seriously thinking about to switch back to Linux like it was before and hiding these crap in VM ...1 -
This is like - drinking a glass of water after every beer, to cut the amount of consumed alcohol by half.
It is pretty much useless...4 -

I replied, that I need the pictures as seperate jpg/png files and that he should upload it somewhere for me to access them.
and well, he did - i was suprised ... BUT
he srsly just did screenshots of these pictures from whithin the pdf file - ON HIS PHONE.
u have ever seen an apple phone these days? those with the missing home button? yeah, you have a digital on screen overlay home button now. and guess - it is in every picture.
I dont care any more. it goes online as is....
tiny, pixelated pictures with beautifull shiny white on-screen home button on them. this is how we roll these days!2 -
So ... Do I get a confirmation or not? What is happening?
Stuff like that really makes me think if the Webservice is trustworthy ... 🤔2 -
Anyone here uses vim as an ide? I just read about it and was wondering if that is possible ... And if it really works well ...
I know, if I want an ide I should use an actual ide, but I thought this might be interesting, since vim is so powerful like everyone said.10 -
first contact was with games. There are actually 2 events I connect with that, but I cant remember which one was first - so here you have both:
Both happened on the Computer from my dad - Windows 95 with Boost button - which of course was always active to make everything super fast :D (yeees, now I now that it actually made it 'slower')
1) Playing Lemmings from 2 Floppy’s (3.5inch 1.44bm)
Until my dad kept Disc 1 in his Jacket for whatever reason I cant remember (maybe because I played to much) and my mother had the great Idea of washing the jacket... bye bye lemmings :( never played it again since then, but still remember the music and soundefects. still love them :)
2) Trying to install AoE on the PC. But since HDDs where cheap (not) and had a ridiculously amount of space (not) (sth. ~250MB) and AoE needed ~150MB, my young and smart me came up with the amazing solution to delete the largest folder on disk, which was C:/WINDOWS. I do not have to mention that my dad was not amused ^^ -
"Per our conversation [Redacted] would like to do a Teams Video call with you to discuss RonR opportunity with us."
What's RonR? I'll interview for a backend software engineer position with an offshore company3 -
well...
when does this end.
even things that can't be further away from any digital logic are getting smarter now ...1 -

I am looking for a file manager to use.
I want to organize my stuff a bit better and I would like to use a file manager so browse through the folders. Important: it should be a cli file manager!
I also would like to use it to organize some photos. I thought about setting up some meta data database to find stuff more quickly later. Some cherry picks from the holidays to show people, or private documents etc.
Any ideas?
I am using ranger atm and I am somewhat happy, but the use of meta data is limited to the cwd only.8 -
Hey folks,
Is anyone using a Dell XPS 13 (9370)? This is the 2018/2019 model.
Is anyone of you also facing the thing that is gets extreme hot, when charging? And I really mean only when charging. Not hitting it with a Max load.
Mine gets as hot as it can possibly be and it starts thermal throttling.
On battery, everything is fine and the laptop is cool as ice.
Both situations are under normal load. Nothing heavy ... CPU mostly idle - rarely over 25% utilisation / thread.
I run Linux on it. Not Shure if it is a compatibly thing, this is why I am interested if others are having this issue.8 -
I am not sure if VMware gave its blessing to this design for UBEReats ...
or am I the only one who thinks at VMware when seeing those people?
