Numbers implementation in so many freaking languages!!!
Lack of naming consistency, and meaning.
And yes, setImmediate and setTimeout 0...
But the biggest feature issue is that people can code without thinking!!! There should be some hardware security to impede stupid fucks from committing code...1 -

Not a rant, but a story.
Last 3 months I mentored our new development trainee. Last night, he presented his thesis in front of other students, profs, and a jury. He received the highest score of all the projects we evaluated, and was even nominated for an award.
I feel like a proud dad. 😅3 -

The room automation (light, doors, music) of a "smart" Hotel owned by our company is still being processed by an API that runs on one of my ex-colleagues local machine. It has now officially been declared as a "server" and everyone just hopes it keeps working.8

Clever that it is printed upside down, so you can look down and actually read it.

So, the other day a friend of mine called me. It's been years that I haven't talked to this girl. She says "can you do me a favour?". I asked "what?". To which she replies "My Facebook account has been hacked. Can you do something and destroy the guys pc? Don't let him create any other account or even let him use the internet. Ban him from the internet or do something.
And I was like7 -
Coding a side project is easy. Turning it into a profitable business is the hardest part. A wrong decision can kill it.1

A story of the backend dev. from our client:
"I used !important once now I'm not allowed to do frontend anymore :("17 -
Did a very tiny migration for a client which would normally be done against our hourly rate but decided to do it for free as it would take me like 5 minutes and it was a very important thing for him and he actually offered to pay.
Fuck it, he'll be very happy, it doesn't take me much time and I know my boss would approve.
Did the migration, messaged the client and he thanked me.
Next day a cake arrives at work with my name on it and "thanks for helping us with the migration!"
Now that's how you make my fucking day!19 -
is it just me or is finishing the rest of 10% of the project much more fucking harder than finishing 90%?12

- Think first, write later;
- Do not rush into purchasing servers. You might not need them for another 10 months;
- It takes away a lot of family time to do side projects;
- NOT playing any games saves tremendous amounts of time. Also applies to watching TV;
- If you get stuck - get some sleep. Morning brings you better ideas;
- Write proper abstractions or you'll end up refactoring everything way more often that you'd like;
- Side projects need a loo-ooooot of your will and determination19 -
Identified the origin of the DDoS attack. Apparently, the person was just hopping through 3 IPs so looked like a targeted attack likely from a competitor. I sent the logs with incident notification to the abuse@hostprovider.com to ask them to suspend them.
Got a prompt response but took them a week to suspend this.
We were a very small team and had to stop everything to fix this-iptables and firewall etc.
We had not even launched the product and was still under development.2 -
GitHub should change it's default theme to black. And so should medium artciles. Any thoughts ? 😊17

People don't consider your sickness until you are on a bed showing symptoms.
Mental sickness is never considered.17 -
I am happy!
Participated in Hacktoberfest for the first time, and now, the t-shirt (which, btw, looks pretty nice imo) is on its way! Can't wait!
Thanks to the people who organize these sort of events ❤️😁2
