Usually I play some focus music, say "let's do this!" to my devduck (Dave), and start working on stuff. Oh, and lots of coffee.2
-
Finally a little productive today. Built a LEMP stack web server for my personal stuff later on. I've been using apache for so long but feels great to switch to nginx.10

Haven't been on here in quite awhile. Hoping I can get inspired to work on a project or something. This depression has been real, especially during this quarantine period I'm currently in.

Okay so my weekend project went well :D put my retropie system inside of this old r2d2 I've had collecting dust. Has a cooling fan inside as well as a 16x2 lcd I was playing with. Got a red led tied to the rpis txd pin, ports in the front for easy access and power cord and hdmi coming out the back.2

For me coding is a huge part of my mindset. I could be having a conversation with a gf and be debugging an issue in my head. I could wake up in the middle of the night and start coding an idea I had just thought of. Especially if I'm working on something I'm too excited about, I will work hours, days straight and not make time for much else. So I've phased through quite a few relationships this way (especially with normies) 🤷♂️ I almost feel like I'd have to be with someone as obsessed as I am for things to work out lol

So for the past few days I decided to create my own personal blog because I wanted to start blogging again. Anyways, I setup a basic WP website (sorry wp haters xD) and installed a pretty cool free theme that I tweaked all over the place.
I was thinking of cool things to add while I'm just in that setting up phase and I really admired that whole dark/light mode toggling feature :) so I spent the past day or so creating my own and it works finally, even across different pages! So i thought I'd share. (Please excuse the BS posts, its strictly for testing. Havent actually started writing posts yet xD)

Heres also a link to this terrible js file I wrote that controls the logic lol (I'll have to refactor quite a bit but it works)

Any feedback is appreciated as I'm still just developing it :)14 -
Well one of my hobbies is making karaoke videos for songs I like to sing. So I'll look for an instrumental and if I cant find one make my own by reverse engineering an official audio track and removing the vocals xD then I use karaoke software to create the lyrics animation and stuff. It's pretty fun.

So I thought I'd try out lynx, the text based browser, and it's actually pretty neat xD kinda weird navigation but I'm actually pretty happy with the experience so far.

Watching Limitless on Netflix and I just love the "hacker" code animation loops with multiple terminals open going on in the background xD5

After many days of going through my first time LFS experience, I have finally booted into my new lfs system with no problems :) Seriously the coolest feeling seeing it boot for the first time knowing how much brain power I had to put into it. Cant wait to continue the LFS journey!2
-
Took me longer than I wanted to, but I finally finished ch6 in LFS 8.3 :) I officially installed all the necessary packages from source and backed everything up (in case I screw up again I'll only have to start from ch7 xD). Now it's on to configuring the system and bootloader and hopefully booting into my new LFS system :D5

There are so many.. but probably my worst was when I was building this project and optimizing it for mobile but for some reason when in mobile view, there was a slight white line on the right side when swiping right or zooming out (shouldnt be able to zoom out either).. checked all the media queries and viewport code and everything was normal so it drove me crazy for a few hours. Turns out, I had 1 little element slightly wider than the viewport but you couldnt tell by looking at it xD fixed the css, but still so frustrating.1

LFS Update: Well I fixed my perl issue last night and today my goal is to do a bit of level grinding so to speak on LFS by trying to finish ch 6. I'm a little over halfway through so I only got about 40 more packages to compile from source 😄
-
Well looks like my gcc compile check log pretty much matches with the LFS logs so I must be doing something right xD yay progress!2

So I've been waiting for almost a year to find a root method for galaxy s8 g950u (snapdragon) that doesnt have terrible limitations like only 80% battery life and others. I love Samsung but I miss root :(
-
Almost gave up on my first LFS build but I re-read the first 5 chapters and used my backed up toolchain to continue chapter 6. Luckily, I have passed the point I was stuck at :) glad I didnt give up or start 100% over.3
-
Feels pretty good when you chroot into your first LFS enviornment and nothing breaks (yet..). Also my toolchain seems to be compiling packages correctly so that's a plus :)

So haven't been on devRant in awhile but it's a new year and I definitely have some new goals. For starters, I'm building my first LFS system (on phase 2 of my toolchain atm), which I thought would be way over my head. Apparently, all these arch experiences have paid off xD I've always wanted to truly understand what went on under the hood of linux and maybe after going through this over and over I'll at least understand a little more.3
