Wanted to introduce my colleagues to devrant. But how can I ? My rants are about them :p

ALWAYS make a backup, or at least save your files every 5 minutes (or turn auto-save on).

You never know whether your parents will click the X button and clicking No in the save confirmation.

So I persuaded my boss to buy me 2 extra wide monitors (2560x1080).

They're way to big and my neck hurts. After few months, I stopped using edges, and keep all my editors and browsers in the center of my viewpoint, leaving edges empty.

My desk is also too small, and I don't have space for anything else other than monitors.

We programmers have it rough :(

Why doesn't companies give Alienware for devs instead of a Dell Latitude ???

They can at least provide 👽 backpack, if not the laptop itself ☹️

Respectfully excluding MacBook from this rant !!

It takes 2 hands to count the number of times everyday that I lose my mouse curse due to have too many monitors.

Those people who call it jif instead of gif.

A unique, very unwanted breed.

My grandfather gave me a laptop of a friend of his, to install an OS.

His friend had a new hard drive installed and apparently they sold him an SSD. He told me that the company that installed it, told him that it was better because it was more expensive.

Of course, an old fellow needs SSD for simple things like YouTube and such.

Today tragedy has struck, I forgot my ear phones

I couldn't get into the zone, had issues with bugs and had to listen to people breathe and make mouth noises in the train.

I had to resort to playing songs in my head which didn't draw out any distracting noises

Can I invade boom beach in peace devRant!! Jeez.......

AAAAAAAA I want to talk with my friends about programming and software, but there is only one friend who understands even a BIT (Rest he doesn't just care about probably). It's driving me crazy that i can't talk with any of my friends about programming, because they don't know shit about it. I really can't make new friends either because i somehow have forgotten how to talk to humans (i'm extremely introverted lol). It's paiful when you have to explain a programming meme.

I need to use the ugly Windows to create a dammit dynamic pdf file because the Adobesoftware isnt avaiable for Macintosh...

A few people at work use devrant and I'm really finding to hard to put this app down and actually do work....

How do people do it?

In the beginning I created a CLI script to manage some production tests of our embedded product. Then they wanted a GUI with a single textbox and button. Then they wanted a shortcut on the desktop to that GUI.

Now one guy I know in 'production' insists that I keep adding to the documentation for things outside the scope of the software and more towards what will be sent to other production workers. Some of which includes 'ensure the cables are plugged in'. He says that he and other production workers are dumb and need a bulletproof guide. Fair enough, I say...maybe get a brain also?

Why does every programming language have to have so many different ways of doing the same thing? I mean, come on, do we really need both for and foreach loops? And why do we have to choose between switch and if-else? Can't we all just get along and use the same damn structure? #FirstWorldProblems
