Had a nightmare that scared the LIVING SHIT out of me for some reason where a DoorDash delivery guy was using a new DoorDash feature where drivers rate customers and are allowed to attack their homes. He gave me a shit review for ordering Taco Bell and started throwing mexican food at my window and holy shit I woke up TERRIFIED. It took me a long ass time to recover from the shakes. I have no idea why it scared me this damn bad, it’s not like I was chased by a zombie with a rocket launcher 😂😂4

the best time to catch a youtuber is when they barely have any subscribers, content generated after that range is questionable. It's like seeing someone slowly get corrupted.
Its like devrant3 -
Simply having a university degree is not a reasob for a bigger salary comapred to a non degree. Its just a school where you learn some of the stuff you need on the job. Therefore if you prove that you know the same it is the same. Same work same salary.17

man I wish people would stop trying to fix people problems with stupid processes and even dumber software.3

i'm starting to hate the whole goddamn thing
hating making "content"
hating making "posts"
hating the goddamn screen
hating doing shit that doesn't matter

Sveltekit's progressive enhancement on forms is an obstacle more than a tool.
Submit buttons stop working when they want.
Other buttons in the forms may trigger an action via POST if their type is not defined.
Everything with no feedback whatsoever. At least tell me I'm an idiot in the form or let me know why a button type="submit" does nothing to send the form data 🤦1 -
My tip for staying productive: **Don't**
Take a break. Take a few. Have a nap. Take a stroll outside. Enjoy life.
Life's too short. If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong.
Fuck productivity.2 -
Fist day at new job. Supposedly I only came to pick a laptop. Been here for seven hours because the team leader wanted to meet and pass some instructions, and still a no show.
Not a very good omen…6 -
I am at the meeting and I keep hearing bird signing, wind humming, sounds of spring. It seems boss is in a forest's cabin right now while every other dev is in a cubicle...6

Company wants me to give a rough estimate of developing a new feature in a distributed legacy monolit. They told me they would inform me the next day and want the estimate on the same day for a project that will probably take 2 devs 3-4 months. I ask for more time and info, give the estimate and they say it "feels too much". I mean ok. Then why am I even estimating? If in the first place the client has only X money than do the project for X and it doesn't really matter how much work it is, does it?4

Developer superstition, never say something is easy, fast or straightfoward.
It will take weeks to develop, months to test and debug and you will consider change jobs just to stay away of that code8 -
It's a sad way to live, where you only want like-minded people around you.
Like you being a software developer only wanting to be around software developers.6 -
There's one thing I have most frustrated with, it's when a project manager has no technical knowledge.
They are like those people who makes you angry every time they open their mouth.
Thay just never makes sense and never understand anything.
Always wasting everybody's time.8 -
How is your weekend going, and which movie are you going to watch this weekend?

Job hunting is hard!
I have over 10 years experience in software engineering. I do mostly full stack, so I can say I'm a jack of all trades and a language agnostic. I'd say I'm a good software engineer and will be able to tackle any task I've been assigned to. Having said that, my confidence in finding a new role is at an all time low.
I've been job hunting for 3-4 months now and so far I've only had 1 interview and it was unsuccessful. Now have been invited to a first round interview for another company (first of many rounds). It's going to involve many technical challenges like coding, algorithms and data structure and system designs.
In general I've had hardly any interviews (about 6-7 in total in my whole career). Due to my lack of interview experience, I've been getting anxiety especially now that the job market is tougher than it has ever been.
Firstly, how do you guys prepare, if at all? I feel like many of these interviews require you to be good at interviews, almost like an exam. If these questions were presented to me when I first came out of college, I would've had a better chance.
Secondly, how do you take rejections? I didn't know how painful it was to get rejected, regardless of how much I wanted the role.
I've been fortunate enough to still have my current job, but because of that I don't really have much time, nor the mental energy to study for interviews.
Apologies I'm advanced for poor grammar, I'm writing this on the train.5 -
Was tasked to write a utility library for work that automates and streamlines a lot of the API related bullshit we use. But it's grown so big that I now need to read my own source files to figure out what the hell it does when I actually need to use it... 🙃2

"Why do you feel you are the best candidate for this job?"
No. Why do you feel you are the best company for me, if I am the one receiving a fraction of what the client will pay you once I finish the project?
"Please, submit a video or voice introduction of yourself".
No. Schedule an interview with me and get to know me live, motherfucker.5 -
At work this 4X Founder ex-FAANG fractional CTO TEDx {insert_puffery} was brought in to say "It's not about code, it's about solving problems." What he's really saying is it's time for me to rip a fart in the middle of his webinar footage.4

The stand-in for the person who normally runs the daily standup meeting (who is currently on leave) asked me today in front of everyone in standup if I've updated my notes. Fuck. Off.
So, I decided to be cheeky and add a comment to the daily standup notes automation task in our project management software that we should just include all of the recipients of the daily status update email in our standup meeting every morning, this way we don't require a OneNote space to update as well as an email.
If they tell me that's not the purpose of standup, then hopefully someone will realise what they've been doing all along.
Let's see how that goes lmao.2 -
This may get me some hate from y'all but let me make a confession here.
I have taken away clients from my previous bosses when they made the mistake of giving the client direct access to me outside the company.
It happened in 2019, my manager gave the client my phone number so they could directly call me and assign me tasks. Well, I left that company and took the client away with me. Heck, I even made more money for the next 4 months from the client than the company was paying me.
Again in 2023 when I left my job, I sent out LinkedIn requests to all members of the client's org, hoping that they'd remember me and reach out for projects. Well, 2 months into leaving the company, they did reach out and now I'm making 3X what I was making before.
I'd do it again in the future again and again. If YOU and I partner up to work for a client, I will make sure that you are out of the equation ASAP.
There, I said it. I've done it twice and I'll do it again in the future.6 -
my workplace had the idea to create a shared calendar with the birthdays of all colleagues.
Now around 10 months later, this calendar is filled with the birthdays of ex-colleagues... Who thought that was a good idea lol10 -
Coffee mugs should have an alarm for when the coffee is about to get cold. I'm too focused on work to care about the coffee.9

Code freeze is such an idiotic concept. What year do we have? Just make a goddamn release branch and do your codefreezy things there. Why the fuck would we stop the entire development just because you can't figure out git?8
