System engineer to Director: We can clone the machines for extra capacity.
Director in meeting later that day: It's ok, they can make clowns of the machines.3 -
So I spent 4-5 weeks explaining how shit the current code base was, implemented gulp tasks to lint js, CSS etc, written shed loads of coding standards and best practices to follow. At this point everyone was onboard with the changes and thought brilliant were going to start getting some good code coming out of this team.
I go on holiday for a week, come back and fucker has ignored the documentation disabled the linters in the gulp tasks and the code is back to square one SHIT!!
Plus everyone still committing to master!!!!
Why do I bother!!6 -
My boss is pissed at me for browsing devRant. So I've created Chrome Extension so i could quickly open\hide it.
Feel free to get it from Chrome Store: https://goo.gl/J05XhT14 -
I don't care if you're a friend, acquaintance, or we fucking knew each other in high school!
If I fucking agree to do some free work for you, feel fucking happy about it! Don't fucking ask for more work or demand work or give me fucking deadlines just because you know me!
I'm doing you a fucking favor! Do you want me to send you the fucking invoice? I don't care if you're on a budget, I agreed to help you out, but don't you dare fucking cross the line!12 -
"Can you help me make an app? I've got this perfect idea, but I can't tell you what it is until you've said yes."
SIGH. I wish these people knew that perfect ideas are worthless, there are plenty of them. Perfect executions of good ideas are what has value.6 -
And now the bloody client that can't pay me is asking me to remove the search feature I spent days implementing as she'd asked me to not a week ago. She doesn't seem to realise I develop for money, I don't develop for good will and positive vibes.8

When I hear sales guy using technical terms in the wrong context while doing his sales pitch to a client...2

The project tech lead asks me to add some Docker configuration files sent by the client to a project. He gives me a zip file and I unzip it and add the files to Git. Job done.
Later he checks the commit and starts bitching because I unzipped the file and it should have been added as a zip. After much debate trying to explain to him that Docker wouldn't open the zip file to search for the Dockerfile he just says "Can you just do it? I double checked with the client!". I give up after giving him all the arguments why he is wrong and do it.
The next day the client checks the commit and comments bitching that I included the zip file and not the contents of it.4 -

Yet another ticket comes in about a feature not working after we push another update. So in my meeting I bring up adding testing would reduce this. Yeah boss just wants me to fix this issue and just do manual tests....fml1

Started working at a large company with promises of a great framework, stable environment and bleeding edge tools, decentralised working environment, only to find visual studio 2010, no git, no project management tooling whatsoever, all documentation stored on svn, no slack or other modern communications platform, still using uploaded word documents as documentation for projects and meetings, so yeah I can truly say :/11
