I came across this code snippet on Quora, and I tried crashing the Codeforces server (strictly for educational purposes). But this thing wouldn’t compile, either because fork() was not declared in the scope, or the file <unistd.h> was not found. I tried it on different C++ machines. What is the fix for this ?

Thing is plantd are addaptive and they enlage the pores on the underside of thier leaves depending on the CO2 levels.
So the plants been running at 100% eat CO2 for a while now.
Then CO2 supply drop to lowest in 100 years.
Plants still eating CO2 at 100% so they did not get memmo yet. CO2 now getting used up faster than being made. Greenhouse no more.

First up south pole winter is coming your way.
It will freeze ice cap bigger than past 100 years. The ice will sit there making earth lobsided with all the ice on one end and none on the other .

Programming helped me realise, that I'm growing.

Since I've learned git long time ago, all my projects are archived and I can get back to them. When I look at my old code, I can see, how much I've learned, and how much more of a developer I've become.

And it motivates me to keep going.

I decided to try shell scripting by making myself a nice configurable menu using dmenu that I can add commands to and that isn't cluttered with desktop entries. Worked suprisingly well tbh

Scenario: Enabling yet another python test suite on vscode. No big deal.

I start the test init and discovery. Says it cant find the test files. Okay; usually the issue is there's no __init__.py in the test directory. It's okay we can fix that.

Oh wait it's still not working. Okay well this isnt good... After about an hour of searching, i finally find out that the file that vscode is discovering tests with doesnt exist... In fact the whole testing directory doesnt exist!

Okay so now what do i do... Reinstall? Doesnt work. Reinstall and delete the extension directory? Yes! Victory!

Dont know how i got a half-baked extension download but hey... Could've beem worse.

Can't git push
because of an "access denied" error message
because I didn't set up my key file properly (with right paths, right format and so on)

We worked with that freelancer some time ago. Most talented coder I've ever known. Coding for only 3 years, and only 1 technology, but technical thinking already up to par with my own 15+ years of experience. Very rude but to the point. We loved it - "one of us". We hired that asshole for different remote projects over 20 times in 3 years. We send spec, answer questions, collaborate on chat, review work on svn, add tickets, get solutions. After about a year working like that we had minor issue with finance that revealed our prized freelancer is a chick.

I need to solve 4x4 tic tac toe using alpha beta pruning, I have solved 3x3 tic tac toe using minimax, and it works very well, but in 4x4 minimax takes lot of time as search space is too big, so I am applying alpha beta pruning but I am not getting clear idea, that upto what depth I should go and what evaluation function should I write in order to give perfect game play, heuristic may also lead to false results and not perfect game play, so how do I ensure perfect game play for 4x4 using fast approach?? Any suggestions or approach will help me a lot. Looking forward to get some inputs.

Ohh......man. These manual tester wants everything from developer. They will simply clicking here and there in the application.

The place I'm interviewing for apparently has a "no music" policy. Is this common? Music is a huge part of programming for me. It helps me get into a rhythm and ignore all the little distractions like people tapping their feet, etc. that drive me absolutely crazy. Am I expecting too much here???

So, I’m working with Angular now since December. A bit off and on. And there is this app on my plate. And I’m f’n stressed since I don’t know Angular all that well and, things need to get done.

So I try often things by myself and often find myself staring at my screen feeling like I’m to understand Chinese.

Today and yesterday I got loads and loads of feedback and I’m trying to implement this all, and doing the best I can.

Although I’m stressed and a month ago I actually took a week off because of a burnout/Boreout.

So meanwhile, I’m doing some therapy and try and stop the negative thoughtflow. But I’m also feeling very lost and alone in this project. Because my questions don’t get answered.
We have to work from home and also we have to work less since the company is not doing very well in this crisis.

Also before the whole shithole began I was looking for another job because I lack the confidence that I will keep this current one. Still looking and two rejections further.

I’m trying meditation to cope with all this.

It's good and okay to make mistakes, no one is perfect and it's rare to non-existent to have a code running perfectly after the first try.

tho my perfectionism wants it otherwise but yea

At the dentist AGAIN. This time a proper oral surgeon. Informed me they are ONLY doing novacaine today when the referring dentist said I would have to be put under ffs. It's like these people don't listen.

I wonder if I can get a refund when they *also* realize I don't respond to novacaine.

Lessons I've learnt so far on programming

-- Your best written code today can be your worst tomorrow (Focus more on optimisation than style).
-- Having zero knowledge of a language then watching video tutorials is like purchasing an arsenal before knowing what a gun is (Read the docs instead).
-- It's works on my machine! Yes, because you built on Lenovo G-force but never considered the testers running on Intel Pentium 0.001 (Always consider low end devices).
-- "Programming" is you telling a story and without adding "comments" you just wrote a whole novel having no punctuation marks (Always add comments, you will thank yourself later for it I promise).
-- In programming there is nothing like "done"! You only have "in progress" or "abandoned" (Deploy progressively).
-- If at this point you still don't know how to make an asynchronous call in your favourite language, then you are still a rookie! take that from me. (Asynchronous operation is a key feature in programming that every coder should know).
-- If it's more than two conditions use "Switch... case" else stick with "If... else" (Readability should never be under-rated).
-- Code editors can MAKE YOU and BREAK YOU. They have great impact on your coding style and delivery time (Choose editors wisely).
-- Always resist the temptation of writing the whole project from scratch unless needs be (Favor patching to re-creation).
-- Helper methods reduces code redundancy by a large chunk (Always have a class in your project with helper methods).
-- There is something called git (Always make backups).
-- If you don't feel the soothing joy that comes in fixing a bug then "programming" is a no-no (Coding is fun only when it works).
-- Get angry with the bugs not the testers they're only noble messengers (Bugs are your true enemy).
-- You would learn more than a lot reading the codes of others and I mean a lot! (Code review promotes optimisation and let's you know when you are writing macaroni).
-- If you can do it without a framework you have yourself a big fat plus (Frameworks make you entirely dependent).
-- Treat your code like your pet, stop taking care of it and it dies! (Codes are fragile and needs regular updates to stay relevant).

Programming is nothing but fun and I've learnt that a long time ago.

Welp. My mental health is down the drain.

I don't want to talk to anyone about it, but I am well aware of the situation. I can't even bring myself to sleep on a proper time frame, and depression is crawling back like an abusive ex.

There. Complete failure. Where do I sign out for this life?

I think my manager has this false impression that just because we are working from home, we suddenly are gifted with lot of free time.

In my experience, the work life is horrible like this. I have not seen much day light in the last 2 weeks.

I don't know how long i can stay sane like this.

What do you call something that hunts bugs for lifetime?
