This shit is real.
Guy comes to my desk.
Guy: Do you know Python?
Me: Yes
Guy: I want a program that reads a CSV containing IP addresses and tells which of them are valid.
Me: Sure thing. Show me the CSV file.
Guy: (Shows the file)
Me: (Writes a small function for checking whether the IP is valid)
Me: Done Here you go.
Guy: You should be using regex.
Me: Why? This is perfect. No need for regex.
Guy: My manager wants a solution using regex only.
Me: Why so?
Guy: I don't know. Can you do it using regex?
Me: Only if you say so. (Stackoverflow. Writes a humongous regex). Done!
Me: Just for curiosity, what is your application?
Guy: I will port it in Java. You see, regex is easy to debug.
Me: Ohhh Yes. I forgot that. Good luck with your regex.22 -
Ah, the awkward moment when you're told to join a conference call to "just listen in the background so you know what's going on"
...and then no-one else from your company turns up, so you're stuck trying to appease a client while having absolutely no idea what's going on...5 -
My company has 2 android apps, I recently discovered they made/paid 2 google play accounts for that...4

Boss: I saw your last commit, great work!
Dev: But... You told me to delete all the features I added...
Boss: Yes, fantastic improvements!7 -
When I first started using Git, I didn't understand the purpose of the 'commit message' and branches.
So I automated the 'git add .', 'git commit -m "update"' and 'git push origin master' so I could update my git repo faster, with one command 😂1 -
me: im tired of coding here
boss: then go home and code there
me: GREAT SEE U TOMORROW
boss: okay, tomorrow bring a pillow, slippers and food so you'll feel more comfy coding!11 -
Installed an SSH server on my desktop so I can use the shell from my laptop...while still sitting in front of my desktop. Keyboard is less than a foot beyond my reach because leaning back, but laptop is in reaching distance.
Still have that SSH server up for mainly the same reason. Decided to also open it to WAN so I can do shit while I'm not home too.4 -
Oh this week is gonna be fun.
I regularly ssh into my computers when I'm too lazy to login through the regular keyboard.
I usually have to move for about half a second in order to reach the keyboard but too lazy .______.4 -
Searched for common typos in Github readme.md files to make trivial PR's to get a free t-shirt, just so I could put off going clothes shopping for a bit longer.10
