Not been on devRant for over 2 years after joining a new company. Still got nothing to rant about. But at least I'm back, right?

Doing some SendGrid integration with suppressions via their API. I changed around a bit of my own code today because what I had before wasn't working well. Something I didn't touch suddenly stopped working. The response body from their one API endpoint no longer matches what their docs say and I swear it did yesterday. So I've been swearing thinking I broke something for the last four hours.

I just added a custom zsh function to read .md files in iTerm. Life is going to be a lot easier now!

Okay I'm guessing everyone here has experienced something like this but...

I dev for Company A and we have various other companies and clients utilize our service. Now, a client from Company B comes to us and says that they are having problems signing in. Apparently the page just tells them "Can't sign in".

"That's odd," I think to myself, "because our failed sign-in messages aren't that terse and usually tell you why."

I look on the system, client is registered under Company B and has verified their email address. All good there. My guess? Trying to sign in to the wrong site (we have a jobs site too) because that sometimes comes up first on the googs.

We get an email from client just now: "Hi, still can't sign in. Please see screenshot below."

I shit you not, she was trying to sign in to her own company's website that clearly had "Company B" written above the sign in box.

It is 10:54 on a Monday and I have not had a Monster because my drug deal- um doctor, told me off for drinking it (not good for anxiety etc). This shit is tough...

Okay I'm probably going to get flak for this but...

WhatsApp chats are apparently e2e secure. Except when you back them up, right? Why not, when you create a backup (iCloud, google drive, whatever), have the app generate a password protected key pair and use that to encrypt/decrypt the backup?

When restoring the backup, use the password you set for the key et voila! While at rest, that backup is still encrypted.

Or have I missed something completely?
