So the CEO tells me our new release needs to be compliant with new guidelines. I say sure, I draft up a few small changes and send them to my PM. He calls an impromptu meeting with the UI team and I explain my changes. They don't like them. They then proceed to draft and redesign a new UI based on these new requirements, I tell them that they are overthinking everything and remind them of the rules of KISS. 45 minutes of me silently waiting and an entire 4x8 whiteboard of designs, I tell them this is an entire redesign and that we will never make our end of the year deadline. PM goes silent for a minute, then responds "yeah I guess your right, let's just implement your original changes"5
What I should do:
- organise my files
- make a pp presentation for English that I haven't even started
- learn for a test about insurances
- learn about characterising, processing and evaluating data
- more shit
What I do:
- browse devrant
- play games
- flash a new ROM until I find a good one
- restore a backup
- flash another ROM
- restore a backup
- go with the least worst ROM I had installed
- FUCKING SLEEP
At least I completely blocked YouTube...6
I guess it's that time to waste a couple of hours having to reinstall drivers, crashing programs and removing bloatware - again.3
Microsoft Visual Studio.
The shittiest time waster ever.
Waiting for the damn right version to be installed.
Please, save time.
Anyone else find slack a time waster unless you are actively working on a team? I feel it fails when used for a user group: l have left most slack teams because it is like repeatedly looking in the fridge and not finding anything interesting.4
I can't get anything done
I know I want or have to do something, but I always waste my time on something completely unrelated.
Afterwards I feel bad, and when I notice what I should've done and what I actually did I get a bit depressed
I just don't have the self-discipline for this shit, and I have no idea how to get it3
Talking about some new feature he haven't totally thought about. so i tell him to think about it.
Talking about a bug, but can't reproduce it.
Talking about another enormous new feature but halt it after hearing the initial estimation.
Total time waster = 1.5 hours for every day.
DON'T LET CUSTOMERS WASTE YOUR DEVELOPMENT TIME.
instead of talking - use project tracking software (i.e. JIRA)
So I've been trying to use bootstrap alerts after deleting a category item in my cms project.
The problem is that I send params via get request and after sending a query to mysql it's best to refresh the page using header to both update the new changes but also prevent the params from staying in the url.
Unfortunately, after refreshing, my alerts don't run because the context of deleting a category is over at that point. I'm sure I'll find a solution eventually, but it's causing headaches and it's a good time waster xD1
Automate is a great app...
(Scroll to last paragraph for a question if you wanna skip the faff)
Semi addicted to a time waster mobile game that has micro transactions. Yet you can get free ingame currency by watching ads over and over.
Using automate i managed to 'automate' the process of "watch add. Click ok. Repeat"
Now when i sleep or idle ill just let it rake up some cash. Sadly it isnt full proof as sometimes (1 out of 20 times) it fails to run the ad and that breaks ot all. But restsrting it is easy and thats another 20 cash!
What have you done to skip tedious work for something trivial or some trivial gain but felt good you did it anyways?5
