Reading books, lots of books... Mostly sci-fi or fantasy (I'm in love with Lem) but generally any type of books. 🙃 Currently on the table:
Lem: Master's Voice
James S.A. Corey: Leviathan Wakes14
HOW TO PROGRAM(in four easy steps) :
1. Google the F*cking Problem.
2. Open a Stackoverflow link.
3. Copy and paste the code.
4. If it didn't work, goto step 2.
If it did work, goto step 1
(you didn't think you were done.. did you?)
Q: What if there is no code?
A: Then it is impossible.3
"Facebook pays teens to install VPN that spies on them"
So after they got banned from the apple app store for doing that directly, they now just abused their certificate to sideload that app.
Relatives: what do you do?
Me: Software Engineer
Relatives: Can you please fix my printer!
Me: what ????5
One of my friend asked me
What the hack is this ...
Tech Associate on Job title
Full Stack Dev on Job Description ?3
And it's not a good thing.
While we start to think that we get a hang of something, there is new thing coming out.
Result is nobody knowing anything well, nothing is developed properly.
Hardwares, languages, frameworks, methodologies. Everything is going too fast.
Or may be I'm just a slow sloth.14
Well here's how I see things going:
Intel and AMD ditch their assembly architectures for Scratch, because drag and drop is very popular lately.
The Boolean is renamed to the biggot by SJW leaders for only supporting binary views.
You must first ask consent to add an item to a linked list, because forcing two items together promotes rape culture.
Apple removes the "h" and "7" keys on all laptop models and gives no reason for their actions.
Linus Torvalds grows an extra middle finger, and it still isn't enough.
Nintendo makes Mario gay and Luigi black to be more inclusive.
LG makes a curved monitor that curves away from you rather than towards you. People buy it in confusion.
Everyone makes the same ad revenue on YouTube, and it is rebranded to OurTube. Luckily, they were able to keep the color scheme.
People finally realize that machine learning is just math, and stop using it everywhere. (Just kidding lol)
AMD and Gucci merge. Nobody understands why.23
I want to get my personal blog into a working state and expand it. I also want to get devMeetup off the ground (a platform to plan meetups for devRant users and others).
On the paid work side:
I'd like to keep my current job. Even though I think I've been learning a lot, I've had some tensions with my teamlead lately, and my contract is due for extension in spring. So fingers crossed for that!18
Create a p2p version of Google Maps / OpenStreetMap that uses people's browsers to store the map tiles of "their region".
Started already by building a proof-of-concept called p2p-fetch (uses GunDB under the hood) and mixing it with the awesome Leaflet library.
Actually finish something dev-related outside of my classes. I've picked up a lot of unrelated project ideas and every time I find a new one, it gets pushed on top of the stack instead of at the end of the queue.1
Wish you devRant family a very happy new year, my new year resolution for the year finally start working on my side project which I have been rolling off for the last 2 years, this is the year I finally start and finish it off.
Start or participate in my first open source project. All the project's I've made are for sport associations I'm a member of and are purposely closed source. That needs some change.
-or- publish a project which I've been working on for quite a while now which is intended to make some money besides my current full time job.1
Continue with my ALL-OUT year of JUST DO IT. Trying to see what happens when I go YOLO for a year.
It started well about 4 months ago, but I slowed down a bit. I just want to pick up the pace again and JUST DO EEET. See where it leads.
Been working on a lot of side projects. I want to finish a few. One is already pretty much finished.
Then, towards the end of the next year, I think I'll start looking for a dev job.2
Give me a second to get my todo list.
- get a office/server room built
- setup a home kubernetes cluster
- create an open-source ActivityPub whatsapp clone
- unify existing ActivityPub implementations where an account on one can be used on others
- finish dockerssh
- create an irc bridge for signal messenger.
- find a way to fully provision linux workstations fully unattended2
