Website design philosophies:
Apple: "...and a really big picture there, and a really big picture there, and a really big picture there, and..."
Microsoft: "border-radius:0 !important;"
Google: "EVERYTHING MOVES!!! And most websites get material design. Most."
Amazon: "We're slowly moving away from 2009"
Wix: "How can we further increase load times?"
Literally any download site: "Click here! No, click here! Nononono!! Click here!!..."
Facebook: "We can't change anything because our main age demographic is around 55"
University websites: "That information isn't hard enough to find yet. Decrease the search accuracy and increase broken links."32 -

Things I hate about Microsoft (Part 1):
Windows: Does things I don't want it to do. Is not user friendly. It is just user familiar.
Outlook / Hotmail: Drops emails silently, which are RFC conform and pass every other mail service. No error messages or notifications.
Edge: Does not / Partially support(s) some modern standards.
IE: No explanation needed.
Design language: border-radius: 0 !important
Business model: Let's make our own hardware, so we can compete with our hardware partners (HP, Dell, ...). Isn't that a perfect idea.
Tracking: Let's track everything of our users. Even how many photos they open in our OS*. What they get from that? Well they could get personalised ads on Bing. Isn't that a perfect model.

Looked at my finger nail after coding all day and thought "This nail needs some border-top-left-radius and border-top-right-radius tuning..."
Enough CSS for today.3 -
To all you devs still wet behind the ears ranting about css - you have no clue just how good you have it.
Most designs used to be table based (table-ception) and to give something a border with round corners or a "drop shadow" you would literally create a table to hold you content with an border of cells containing a background image of a corner / border.
Now you use border-radius or box-shadow as a 1 liner. Stop bitching about centering things and figure out how to hack it like we did.
If you remember this whats your least missed 20th century hack?15 -
The new google site looks like something i woulda made when i was 12 and discovered border-radius10

The Windows 11 keynote was such a load of bullshit. All the emo yadda yadda. You know, when I work on Windows, what I feel is irritation, anger, and despise for the amateur shitshow that Microsoft delivers.
In particular, but not limited to the fucking update reboots where Windows sits there uselessly and shells fucking prawns in its own ass!
Oh we now have semi-transparent shit. That's progress! It's so great! Only that it's not because already Windows Vista had Aero Glass, and Windows 8 removed it.
But we we have fucking rounded corners now! Crazy shit, some intern at Microsoft discovered border-radius, or did they dig out some fucking Windows XP copy? That also had rounded corners way before Apple even invented them!
To top it off, Microsoft even failed to deliver the livestream seamlessly and recommended watching it at Twitter. Yeah, that's the fucking "Windows experience" as we know it, you clowns!
My favourite BS quote from Nadella himself: "the web itself was born and grew up on Windows." That guy is so full of shit that an unmaintained latrine in rural India would be envious!8 -
Idk man. I can't be the only one that thinks the new iPhone looks stupid, can I? It's too glassy and glossy. It looks like a makeup case or something my sister would use to hold mascara.
And WTH is with the border-radius on that bottom menu bar? Like, either choose to make it a background strip like a normal nav menu or leave it out, but don't just give me more of that weird recta-bubble shit.8 -
How can Google or Samsung allow this murder? The rounded boxes are stuck to the edges? This is a crime. It's disgusting. Apple will never let this pass. They call this One UI or something.12

Windows 10 had one groundbreaking UI innovation, but no one adopted it and even Windows 11 discareded this revolutionary idea:
BUTTONS NEXT TO EACH OTHER AND AT THE EDGE OF A BOX DON"T NEED AN ADDITIONAL MARGIN
Windows 10 was the first and last OS where I never accidentally clicked right next to the X on a window, in a passive area that had no other purpose so it might as well have belonged to that motherfucking button.
I passionately hate this trend, adopted nowadays by every OS, that everything needs to be rounded, separated from the things around it, and "allowed to breathe". They don't breathe. They're not alive. They're fucking UI elements and the space between them is unused, lost space.
The only interaction a button has with its surroundings is that it pushes other content away to make room for itself and responds to the cursor. It doesn't wiggle, it doesn't grow and shrink, and it ESPECIALLY doesn't fucking breathe. Please, just let me click the motherfucking button.
Relatedly, do you know of a good, preferably bluish dark GTK theme that provides window decorations that stretch the full height of the titlebar and are laid out next to each other at the very end of the bar without gaps?8 -
Most cutting-edge?
Well, there was this one website, with border-radius > 0 on everything... does that count?5 -
I wonder, how will I ever able to understand memes posted here😂😂.
So much stuff to learn out there that I get overwhelmed.
People talk about VIM and bash and Emac and what not 😓.,and here I am studying border-radius in CSS😂8 -
Seriously, what is the point of a 1px border-radius? It's barely discernible from 0. It looks like the button got slightly dented in transit or something.
If you're going to round the corners, at least go 2px so it's noticeable by the average user or not at all. COMMIT! :)6 -
Not sure if am the only one that have the feeling of being cut by a sharp Microsoft's "border-radius: 0;".

The new (mobile) google results design looks horrible, what were they thinking when they applied *{border-radius:5px;}? 😷4

I think frontenders should be classified as the most laziest in development. Look what somebody made for them: https://border-radius.com/10
