How does the created time work in Devrant's API?
I get 'created_time': 1563478239
It makes literally no sense13 -
A close friend of mine and i talked a while back and it went a little like this.
friend - "You like programming right"?
me - "Yeah"
friend - "I got a great idea"
She never really told me what the whole idea is. She said its easier to explain face to face but i can guess it's dev related.
But here's the issue. I have a tendence to just suddenly loose all motivation for a project (look at my github) and i'm afraid that i'll loose motivation for the thing she wants to do with me and i'll disappoint her.
Do i help her with her idea or not?
Keep in mind that i'm not a actual dev. Its just kinda my hobby. I can do it for free. Thats not the problem.7 -

This guy is wrong in so many ways.
"Windows/macOS is the best choice for the average user. Prove me wrong."
There are actually many Gnu/Linux based operating systems that's really easy to install and use. For example Debian/any Debian based OS.
There are avarage users that use a Gnu/Linux based operating system because guess what. They think its better and it is.
Lets do a little comparision shall we.
- - - - - Windows 10 - - Debian
Cost $139 Free
Spyware Yes. No
Freedom Limited. A lot
"[Windows] It's easy to set up, easy to use and has all the software you could possibly want. And it gets the job done. What more do you need? I don't see any reason for the average joe to use it. [Linux]"
Well as I said earlier, there are Gnu/Linux based operating systems thats easy to set up too.
And by "[Windows] has all the software you could possibly want." I guess you mean that you can download all software you could possibly want because having every single piece of software (even the ones you dont need or use) on your computer is extremely space inefficient.
"Linux is far from being mainstream, I doubt it's ever gonna happen, in fact"
Yes, Linux isn't mainstream but by the increasing number of people getting to know about Linux it eventually will be mainstream.
"[Linux is] Unusable for non-developers, non-geeks.
Depends heavily on what Gnu/Linux based operating system youre on. If youre on Ubuntu, no. If youre on Arch, yes. Just dont blame Linux for it.
"Lots of usability problems, lots of elitism, lots of deniers ("works for me", "you just don't use it right", "Just git-pull the -latest branch, recompile, mess with 12 conf files and it should work")"
That depends totally on what you're trying to. As the many in the Linux community is open source contributors, the support around open source software is huge and if you have a problem then you can get a genuine answer from someone.
"Linux is a hobby OS because you literally need to make it your 'hobby' to just to figure out how the damn thing works."
First of all, Linux isnt a OS, its a kernel. Second, no you dont. You dont have to know how it works. If you do, yes it can take a while but you dont have to.
"Linux sucks and will never break into the computer market because Linux still struggles with very basic tasks."
Ever heard of System76? What basic tasks does Linux struggle with? I call bullshit.
"It should be possible to configure pretty much everything via GUI (in the end Windows and macOS allow this) which is still not a case for some situations and operations."
Most things is possible to configure via a GUI and if it isnt, use the terminal. Its not so hard

Walking around in naturvetenskapliga museumet (a museum in Stockholm, Sweden) and i see this (image below).
This information displays which seems to run Windows restarted. I would say that it happend because of the long uptime these machines have and Windows sucks with having long uptime.
Solution: Run it on a Linux based operating system instead. -
Oldschool ranters from 2005 (if you're even still here), how was DevRant back in the day? What was the differences/similarities? Was it better/worse? How did you discover DevRant (before you googled it)?12

After ages of waiting for it too install, i finally managed to update my kernel to the latest version.
And i know its not good to have a unstable kernel but screw you.7 -
I don't get all the "Can't exit vim" jokes.
IT'S NOT THAT HARD!
Its (esc) : wq to save and exit
And
(esc) : q! to exit without saving.
Just read vimtutor.
Gosh10 -
I finally managed to make my first actual c program.
It's pretty lame but it's atleast something. It tells you what Linux distrobution youre on and that's pretty much it.
Here is it if you would for any reason be interested

And btw. C is so fucking hard. 😠13 -
I was thinking of switching from Antergos to Arch but im afraid i cant keep track of all the software i have. Is there any way to easily keep track of all software you have when switching os?1

Have you heard that Facebook is developing a cryptocurrency?
Huge waste of money. Everyone knows Facebooks security flaws and will problably not invest in their cryptocurrency because of that.11 -
The evolving of software engineering is highly dependent on hardware engineering.
If only software engineering would evolve then there would eventually be a point where theres nothing more to do due to the lack of hardware to develop software for.
So its more a question of how you see hardware engineering evolving.
I expect that there will be a point in the future where we have techology which in big scale does dangerous or time consuming tasks. Like for example at nuclear reactors or at other high level security and high risk locations. This of course requires highly sofisticated ai software. -
Anyone else got the problem of a tmp36 being really fucking hot. Its really annoying.
I was just messing around with a Arduino and there is this Love-o-meter thing that uses the tmp36. And oh god something must have went wrong113 -
God damn it. Today i took my laptop to school and you cant guess how many people though i’m a hacker. It’s quite annoying. But just because you use linux doesnt mean you are a hacker! You uneducated pieces of dumbass!!!!10

I would need some help by web devs with my website. This is what i’ve done so far. Take note, i’m not a web developer.
What can i improve?

I know. I have posted a lot of images of my desktop earlier. They looked really good but something similiar could be made by a monkey. What i mean by that is i didnt put much effort into them.
This time i decided to start over and make a new desktop and actually put some effort into it. So here it is.1 -
Have you ever installed libc++?
If you haven't then i warn you.
When libc++ installs it does a lot of tests and it takes fucking forever!
What the fuck!
What are you even testing? How long patience people have?
And sorry for not screenshoting. I dont want to accidently interupt their "testing"7 -
Fuuuuuuuck!!
I hate it when your code work sometimes but sometimes not and you don't even change anything!!
Fuck you, Discord rich presence! Why don't you love me???
