You start new job and take over huge codebase without tests and documentation.
It turns out programming language is custom language made by previous developer who was the only one maintaining project.
There is no source version control.
Language runs in vm developed in Fortran.
No one cared to this day cause everything was working.
Project is critical for multi billion dollar corporation that sells medical equipment that keep people alive.
You can’t test your code on real devices only on virtual ones that were made using same custom language but you can’t find source code for it.
Previous developer accidentally died before you were hired.
You signed contract with penalties that will ruin your life.
Your first task is to add “small” feature.
Good luck !12 -
At a party.

I'm not one for filtered searches (hence Safe Search off), though search results like this happen often enough for me to inevitably end up clicking around co-workers.11

Last 10 years of database leaks.
Will next 10 years will be as interesting in security like last decade ?8 -
Yeah I'm an adult. No, it doesn't bother me that 6 years ago on the school trip I wasn't cool enough to be invited to the girls rooms eventhough my stupid friend was. Doesn't bother me one bit7

Me thinking that getting a job in tech is easier than getting a non-tech job because we are "in demand".5

Opening up a view file, and first thing I see is a function accepting 13 parameters.
I don't know where to start, so much wrong..
Kill me.5 -
Today I officially switched from 5 working days per week to just 4 days. It will be less money, but much more freedom & happiness.
I'm a lucky guy to have this opportunity, but I also put my big chunk of effort to achieve this degree of freedom. And I'm proud for that.11 -
Dear diary:
It is 2020 and I still don't know shit about docker :3
I don't know how bad this is.....17 -
that time when a client wants you to teach a bird how to fly.
but the bird is a penguin
and you are a bear expert

So I work for a company that has a recommendation system. If the person you recommend gets hired and works for more than 3 months you get a bonus.
$500 if you recommend a man
$700 if you recommend a woman
Isn’t this discrimination?
I know they are trying to incentivize women to get into tech but this is just ilegal and quite frankly not the best way to get results.38 -
Rain monitoring/alert api's/services/websites/apps.
Why the fuck are those fuckers (in my case) nearly always right when I couldn't care less and very fucking wrong when I couldn't care more?
Today, morning before leaving:
Nah mate you're good for the next x minutes (more than enough time for me to bike to the station and get on the train).
Reality: suddenly getting two gallons of water a second on me in the form of rain, arrived completely soaked and headphones broke.
Before biking home from the station;
*its raining hard as hell*
Rain alert/monitoring app/radar thingy: nah mate no worries, no rain last half hour and you're good for another half hour!
Reality: arrived home soaked a-fucking-gain.
So motherfucking annoying and frustrating. And yes, I do have an umbrella and such but I hate carrying that stuff around when 'not needed'.5 -
So, I've been following a tutorial and explanatory series on YouTube about procedural terrain generation.
I dare saying it's going quite well!20
