Finally.... Spent over an hour trying to optimize ~5 lines of code... Guess it was a review on how to use primes for hasig but....
Root cause was I just needed a slightly faster hashing function...
1 test failed from timeout of like maybe 1sec. Test shows passed, then in details shows Timeout...

I gave a very small overview of the flutter sdk a whiiiile ago and I have been thinking about going back to it. Currently considering between 2 courses on udemy that are at a discount price. I love the idea of dart as a language and prefer declarative ui building over xml shittyness. I was an Android/ios development for 2 years and hated every minute of it, but really love the idea of building mobile apps.
What are your thoughts and considerations on this? Should I jump right in or just leave it asside? What are your success stories with flutter and what did you use to learn the framework besides the docs? How easy are things like state management and persistent storage with flutter compared to android and ios?
I will eventually make my own decission by building sample projects, but hearing from the community would be great.5 -
I am very much excited but at the same time very scared. My first job working for what I am studying. So Monday(18-June-2018) I am starting work at this small company as a Java Junior developer. I'd like to know from those who are in the industry already, how was the transition from school to actually working for a company?
I'd also really appreciate some bit of advice from everyone.3 -
I really like React and I thought for a second that Vue will overcome React with stars but fortunately developers know what is better 😂😂😂😍21

Oh no Microsoft might buy GitHub! It's the end of the world! Everyone grab your code and hide in a nuclear bomb shelter.9

I feel really stressed about everything I want to learn. Everytime I hear someone talk about some new framework or I see people here discuss languages or stuff I don't know anything about, I want to learn it. Right now the list of things I feel I need to learn is so fucking big that I've no idea where to start. Also, I need to focus on my upcoming exams, so I've absolutely no time to learn or do anything. Backend, front-end, iOS, Android, desktop, OS development, everything. So much to learn, so little time.3

So yeah, my IDE is open and I'm just doing my daily rounds on SO when my rig suddenly feels like it's melting from playing Battlefield in 4K everything max. Chrome! Chrome! Chrome! It thinks were married, taking liberties with all my free real estate. You are out! Hey Firefox DE.1

Sometimes I feel I'm an app developer, a web developer, a sysadmin, an ethical hacker and a programmer who's comfortable in several languages. At other times, I feel like I just know how to use the internet.5

So I finally get code in Xcode able to compile and run after crashing in main()... due to obscure settings in it's build it does not like. Took hours of hunting around, googling, and used up all my craps table luck for the month.
Now, out of the blue, after a good 30 test run, edit, compile, run cycles... BOOM, the god damn thing starts crashing at before main() again. No friggin idea why.
Xcode says SIGABRT to me... yea well I got something for you Apple Xcode... 🖕🏼1 -
There was this uni project where the teacher gave us a project to work as a team (the entire class, 17 people). We were meant to use Scrum, and deliver the first release in 1 week.
Turns out no one except me did the work, and this went on in the upcoming sprints, even with me telling the teacher what was going on.
Then, one day, a girl (let's call her Rose) did a commit to git, and I thought that something as going to change...She committed and push a new line at the end of a file.
After 2 months, the project was done. I had done 4k+ lines of Java EE + Hibernate + JSP code (which was very difficult to me) and the grading came out. I got a 7... most of the rest of the class got an 8 or 9. They did nothing.
When questioned by me, teacher said (it was a group project...)
TL;DR: I did the work of 17 people in a university project, got the worst grade of them all.12 -
I knew AngularJS, just learnt Angular. Realized what typescript is and how amazing it is. I am a .Net guy so creating lambda functions in typescript made me excited lol. It's a little frustrating to write "imports" in every TS file though. Can now add ✔️Angular and ✔️typescript to my resume 😉. Starting with Vue.JS as soon as I am done playing with Angular.2

devRant is the only social media I like and use regularly.
It certainly has it faults, as any network of people will, but overall I think it provides a much needed conversation between like-minded people.3 -

Is anyone else having a hard time finding another job after working as a full stack developer for a few years?4

At Uni i have a course that basically teaches us how to use python for simulations. So I made all the assignments and everything worked like expected on my computer. After I got my grade back, I checked the corrected file and I saw that in an entire assignment the code did not work. 🙁 So of course I dubblechecked if the code that I wrote really didn’t work. And again the code ran fine on my pc. So I send an email to the TA with my complaint. Today he replied with an email that the code still didn’t work and that he couldn’t give me any points for it.
Next step: his office 🧐13 -
Which linux distro is most visually pleasing UX wise. I'm looking for something with a good UX framework like material design or metro. It's for UX research.2

Don't you love it when you're in a full-on creative mood but the whole universe is somehow working against you doing anything productive?
Woke up in the morning with bright ideas for my app. But my PC restarted and my IDE crashed. After getting the IDE up, the project no longer builds. After spending hours to try and fix it, reinstall IDE and ............... voila............... everything works. I mean WTF?1 -
The cancellation of The Expanse just feels like the ultimate confirmation that Earthers are the worst. The Belters would never have let that show go.3

Integrating a modern JavaScript framework into an existent, large sized MVC project is really a pain in the ass...2

Windows 10 as a development environment... Oh freakin' goody.
📍Multi-montor is finicky
📍Text scaling is still horribly broken
📍It takes longer to resume from standby than my old laptop takes to boot up from a cold start
📍Color matching LCD monitors is pants-on-head retarded
📍32GB of RAM isn't going to be enough...
This is going to be a long summer in corporate land.20
