HR: We have received complain that you have been sexually harassing an intern.
Me: No, I wasn’t. Me and the new intern all we talk about is Coding, Apps, and TV-Series
HR: You are lying. I have the words that you said to the intern. Do you want me to read it out.
Me: I have no clue what I said to the intern so please read it out.
HR: You said, “Always pull before you push”. Do you remember saying this?
Me: Yes, I was teaching the intern how to use GIT.
HR: Okay, let me call the intern and let see if he says the same.
** Intern **
HR: Was he sexually harassing you today at any time.
Intern: No
HR: Did he said, “Pull before you push” to you?
Intern: Yes
HR: What does that mean, sounds like a slang for something sexual.
Intern: haha, no it means that I should pull the changes made to the files before I can push the changes I did to the code from my computer.
HR: But he said something else like he was teaching you how to use GIT
Intern: Yes, that’s what GIT is.
HR: Okay both of you can go and don’t use this type of terms in the future it doesn’t make good working culture.52 -
This story is 100% true.
I got hired onto a team of construction workers to build a house. We set up a meeting with Management to find out what kind of house they wanted us to build, where’s the floor plan, what it’s going to be used for, who it’s for, etc. Management said that they didn’t know all that, we should just get started. They told us that we were going to use “Agile” which means that we just work on small deliverables and build the thing incrementally.
The developer team lead argued that we at least need to know how big the thing is going to be so that we can get started pouring the foundation, but Management told him they just don’t know. “What we do know,” Management said, “is that the house is going to have a bathroom. Just start there, and we’ll know more when it’s done. You have two weeks.”
So we just bought a port-a-potty, and screwed around on the internet for two weeks. Management was outraged. “You call this a house? This is the worst house ever! It doesn’t even have a tv!”
So we bought a tv and put it in the port-a-potty, attached to an outdoor generator. We were going to buy a a dvd player and get it hooked up to cable, but Management rejected the expense request, saying that they didn’t know if we needed it, and we’d come back to that later.
Management decided that we definitely need storage space, so we bought a boxcar and duct-taped the port-a-potty to it. Then to our horror they set up some desks and put a few miserable business interns in there. It went on like this…
After a few years the boxcar grew into a huge, ramshackle complex. It floods, leaks, it’s frozen in the winter and an oven in the summer. You have to get around in a strange maze of cardboard tubes, ladders and slides. There are two equally horrible separate buildings. We’re still using just the one outdoor generator for all power, so electricity is tightly rationed.
Communication between the buildings was a problem. For one of them, we use a complex series of flag signals. For the other we write notes on paper, crumple the paper up, and toss it over. Both of these methods were suggested as jokes, but Management really liked them for some reason. The buildings mostly talk to each other but they have to talk through us, so most of what we do is pass messages on.
It was suggested that we use paper airplanes instead of crumpled up balls, but the fat, awkward fingers of the Business Majors who inevitably take those jobs couldn’t be trained to make them. I built an awesome automatic paper airplane folder, but once again they couldn’t be trained to use it, so they just went back to crumpling the notes up in balls.
The worst part of all this is that it’s working. Everyone is miserable, but the business is making money. The bright side is that this nightmare complex is done so now we know what kind of building they actually needed in the first place, so we can start work on it. Obviously we can’t tell Management anything about what we’re doing until it’s finished. They noticed the gigantic hole in the ground where the foundation is coming in, but we told them that it’s a cache reset, and they mostly ignore it except when the occasional customer falls in.
I’ll probably be out of here before the new building gets finished. I could get a 50% raise by switching jobs, but Management still doesn’t think I should get a raise because I missed a couple sprints.7 -
I actually love Mr. Robot because at least they are trying to show the actual tools plus the codes that can be used to hack, not some kind of random console outputs that doesn't even make sense in the most of the tv series/ movies4

When you have a 7Mbps ADSL and your brother keeps loading Tv series:
- 192.168.1.1
- QoS
- YOUR_MAC_ADDRESS priority=MAX
- HIS_MAC_ADDRESS priority=MIN
Well, now begin to complain that the connection is slow.14 -
My university organised a series of shitty seminars and due to shortage of registration it was going to be made mandatory. Registration was a simple google form without sign in, so i wrote a python script and filled the google form with characters of Game of Thrones , Breaking bad and Narcos series. Now the seminar is cancelled.6

I'm only two step far from having an intelligent house, just missing finish my own domotic system and then a bot to control, music, TV, and electricity.
Let's do the list:
1.- Kodi on TV ✔

3.- a small data server to provide music, movies and series to Kodi and mpd ✔
(This is something that im trying to do with spare PC's running Linux on my free time)
MPD on a PIII (500mhz + 512mb RAM)
Kodi on a dual core (2.80ghz +3gb RAM)
Server on a opteron (1.80ghz + 1.5gb RAM)3 -
There's this TV show called Startup. The protagonist "hacker" tells a guy to go learn JavaScript. And then they show him learning Java. If noobs make this mistake, I get it. But a TV show that's featuring a "hacker" who can create crypto currency and dark web sites? WTF?6

My brother is just like f*cked up program:
Fortnite > Movies > TV Series > Fortnite > Movies > TV Series > F...
Yes, infinite loop and memory leak at its' best.8 -
Thought Amazon servers went bonkers seeing these names. Later realized these are episode names for TV series, Mr Robot.

Making ciri from the witcher upcoming tv series a black asian minority ( although she has has elf blood . Elfs are white not black ).
Master/slave controversy.
Introducing random gay movie scenes just for the sake of diversity.
What's next ? Making a documentary about linus torvalds with him being a black asian gay feminist ?8 -
Suddenly some some strange noice from the kitchen... Hmm my wife's laptop sounds like it plays some TV series but no one is logged in.
Conclusion: windows update restarted her computer while it was paused on Netflix, after reboot chrome opens to latest url where it autoplays trailers.
Conundrum resolved.3 -
I hate those movies/tv series in programmer just tap on some keys and says it's done. this makes programming/coding looks so easy.
FUCK YOU MAN ITS NOT EASYYYY4 -
Sorry for breaking the protocol, but I'm not here to rant. I want to thanks all the ranters (is that a thing now?) for recommending Mr. Robot (the TV series). Just watched the first episode and I can see myself watching it all day. Be back tomorrow.6

Am I the only one who can't take the IT nonsense in TV SERIES (especially crime series) anymore? ANY UI shown on an arbitrary screen looks like garbage! And in addition to the f*cked up screen designs, every damn action of course makes weird beep noises, which would be totally annoying after like 3 secs IRL. How the heck are we supposed to take such BS seriously? This totally destroys so many TV series for me!
(Also, I have to explain to my wife why I'm laughing all the time! :p)8 -
Just watched the first season of Silicon Valley and I have to admit: it's the best series out there. Is the second season as great as the first one?6
-
When tv series/movies have "coding scenes" and they do impossible things within seconds. (I'm watching last season of the 100... My god...)12
-
Silicon valley should have more episodes in a season😟. Who feels the same?
P.S. - T.J. Miller will be missed🙁4 -

I just watched the new Mr. Robot Trailer.

Watching a piece (a Belgian TV series) about hackers
- Police IT dpt takes a burned down computer (literally burned down -- black from the smoke), plug it into the mains and remove a graphics card. To collect evidence from.
- A policeman from IT dpt is browsing some company's website (while at the police station), looking at their clients. Address bar says: 127.0.0.1.
- The police hacker is browsing some forum. She got the post author's IP and MAC addresses from that forum post metainfo.

I am this die hard fan of House, MD. A medical Based Drama TV series.
I find soo many similarity between how doctor House diagnosis patients and how we coders debug code.
Why the flying-fuck is there not a similar show for engineers?
Where engineer is followed closes as he debugs a problem? And saves the day?
Why god why.
I just pray for this miracle to happen.
(To start with Dr.House abused vicodin, we coders abuse caffeine and sudo chmod 777 :P )9 -
Wtf! I was talking to my SO over the phone about House, the TV series, and now all of a sudden my Instagram explore tab contains photos from House!!6

can you guys suggest me good TV/Anime series with few seasons or episodes so I can use my Sunday. Not in a mood for work.37 -
1. I have to learn German (as a language).
2. I have undiagnosed and subclinical ADHD.
3. I have a job that partially needs my brain for 9 hours of the day.
4. I'm coming off of antidepressants. (Life has been hard lately. Needed a little help to cope.)
5. I need to finish learning German in about 2-3 months.
6. I don't enjoy interacting with people.
Any suggestions for what can help with the goal? Software, web apps, services, etc. Specially good non-violent and non-depressing tv-series.20 -
...and they said AWS never goes down. Well developers this is a good time to sleep or catch up on tv-series. Enjoy!5

To build a machine as shown in 'Person of interest'.
P.S. If you are hearing Person of Interest for the first time, put it on top of your tv series watchlist. You will not regret it.6 -
Fucking shit for brains authors that think the digital world is a fantasy realm where everything can happen just to aid their story. Out of boredom i watched "scorpion" today, a tv series about a group of geniusses which are a special case task force.
They got a visitor from the government saying the servers from the federal reserve bank were encrypted with ransomware. I already twitched when they said the economic system would collapse if the servers were left inoperational for a few days. Then one guy got to his desk and "hacked" the fed network to check... he then tried to remove the malware but "it changed itself when observed". But they got the magical fingerprint of the device that uploaded it. In the end some non-programmers created the malware, but it is super fast and dangerous because it runs on a quantum computer which makes it hyper fast and dangerous. They got to the quantum computer which was a glowing cube inside another cube with lasers going into it and they had to use mirrors to divert the lasers to slow down that quantum thingy. And be careful with that, otherwise it explodes. In the end the anti-malware battled the malware and won, all in a matter of minutes.
This is a multimillion hollywood production. How can a movie this abusive to computer science even air on television? Shit like this is the reason people still think the cyberworld is some instable thing that can explode any second. It's not, it's an instable thing that can break down any second. I remember "ghost in the wires" and people had surreal imaginations about the internet already. Shit like this is why people stay dumb and think everything can be done in seconds. If i ever should encounter one of these idiots i tell him i have an app that can publish his browser history by taking a picture of his phone and watch his reaction.
Time to shuw down the tv and learn vim again.11 -
!Rant #lazy
I setup my local server so I can test my apps and to mount my partitions on my www folder in a folder named "mnt" with numbered folders for each mounted partition
So I can access and download my files to phone and other devices from all over the network :)
And even watch movies that are in my computer on my phone or tv
And when I want to sleep I usually watch a movie or one episode of series which is stored in my pc ,on my phone by this method in my bed 😅
So the thing is I'm too lazy to get out of bed and shut down the server and pc
So I setup this file so I can run commands on my PC from my phone 😅😂😂😂

Last week someone from a clients IT mailed me saying some user needed setting up in the software we develop. There was a flurry of emails from the person, the persons boss, their IT, etc. I sent instructions to the IT person explaining how to create users. Next day another flurry of emails asking if I created the user or not. Seems like they cant follow instructions so I went in and created the user for them then didn't think anything more of it.
Then last night I binged watched many episodes of this TV series 12 monkeys which is all about time traveling. Anyway in this morning I get into the office and there are all these emails from this same person, from last week, also emails from their boss and their IT people again all asking how this same person can be set up as a user. I had to quietly just ask one of the other developers "what day is it?" just in case..1 -
Would like to suggest all my devRant friends to watch TVF Pitchers. If you like Silicon Valley you will definitely like this.
Available on YouTube or TVFplay.com , this is a story about 4 friends. I am suggesting this because this web series was a deal breaker in India. One of a kind to go to No.25 on IMDB's top 250 TV shows.
A must watch :)3 -
If you type "Google" into Google, you can break the Internet.
So please, no one try it, even for a joke.7 -
A friend of mine once asked me to send an entire TV series as an attachment to an email.
I fell off the chair laughing.
As I got back on it, I realised we aren't far away from that day. 🤘🏻1 -

I "fight" with another developer at the end of a school project (a website).
The "other developer" complained because he had received a lower rating than mine.
He went to the teacher telling them that I had to lower the evaluation because during the project I watched TV series, And the teacher replied: there are those who can do it and some like you do not.
He could not do it because when he concentrated he could not do anything, you think when he lost himself in TV series.
There were various quarrels because I had this attitude but a higher rating (and anyway with a product a thousand times better than his), while he gave 100% he could not do anything.5 -
Final episode of leverage redemption, they used an Android phone. Have you ever seen a TV series where they don't use an IPhone?!
Cracks start small 😋3 -
Enjoying a mediocre TV series with your girlfriend and then this scene comes in since I work at a digital security firm she started thinking my work was like this... https://youtube.com/watch/...2

Just finished watching "Halt and Catch Fire" on Netflix. If you haven't checked it out, you definitely should. It's about 80s tech disruptions. Also, any other suggestions for tech related TV series / movies? Silicon Valley, Mr. Robot etc.?6

Ted talks or music with tea (mostly office).

Whoever said that "The IT Crowd" is a good TV Series...
WTF?
It's so... lame.... Are all the British comedies like that?23 -
Last night I was awake until 5am watching tv series now feeling sleepy all day. Well it's Sunday so fuck why not.1
-
All the youtubers ranting about adpocalypse, watchtime and such for weeks now..
And tbh i didn't really care. But for fucks sake the AI youtube uses to recommend videos indeed sucks!
You know back in the days, when you listened/watched part 1 of a playthrough and were just fine with the upcoming video because it was part 2, 3, 4 and so on of the series?
FUCK THIS. How about now that you saw part 1 of Scykohs "Pokemon Snap Playthrough", watch some random fucking shit of jacksepticeye?
FUCK YOU. THENKS.
I used to fall asleep and wake up with some chill ass gameplays on my tv. But now I fall asleep with using my remote to direct myself to the next part of the video and wake up to some random ass content nobody wants to watch.
FRIGGIN FIRSTWORLDPROBLEM I KNOW BUT IT SUCKS.1 -
Finished our first phase of the project about a month earlier. We entered the second phase and the project manager is shouting to do it as quickly as possible.
Sometimes I think I should have watched TV series in the meantime rather than finishing the task early. -
The cancellation of The Expanse just feels like the ultimate confirmation that Earthers are the worst. The Belters would never have let that show go.3

What kind of influence did American Series (like Big Bang, Simpsons etc) have on your image of America? Especially their technological progress.2

Is it really crazy that I am speaking a lot of english after a completing a hell a whole season of a tv series in one day after a continuos watch?5

I was preparing a resume for an internship,I just realized i have nothing to mention in extra curricular activities.Apart from coding i only watch football and tv series and that doesn't count.1

Wtf? Why do people buy Netflix? Or Amazon TV? I am at a friends place and I think I searched for at least 30 different Films or Series already and not a single one was on either of those and on Amazon you'll often have to pay extra for a movie. I knew piracy was the correct choice. Wtf... And people pay for this shit...11
-
Holy shit! I just finished Maniac and it is so fucking amazing, I can't even speak. A must watch for everyone lol.2

over the time "the mentalist" and "the big bang theory" was replaced by "breaking bad", "silicon valley" and "halt and catch fire", now they are replaced by "the profit", "shark tank" and "podcast". is this a beginning or change or an end????

I find their storyline and cinematography far superior, also during coding i like to listen sounds that I can’t understand
Do you guys have any suggestions on some famous Korean drama3 -
Whatever job you have, the Apple TV+ series "Severance" will make sure you question everything about it. (No spoilers...I'm almost done with Season 1).6
-
I just launched movie from some website and apple+ logo show up.
I thought yay I can watch it legally cause I’m subscribed to apple+
I opened apple tv app and I see I can’t watch it right now because it’s in cinema but I can rent it.
Lol, just launching it from website.
I’m not gonna pay twice for movie.
Corporations got no limits.
I’m waiting for someone to figure out you can make people pay to see exclusive movie trailers because we already have behind the scenes series longer then actual movies.1 -
I stumbled apon this software called vavoo.to, whith this you can watch Movies, Series, Live TV and more just started to reverse the apk.
Now out of curiosity how the fuck are they doing this with Live TV without hosting it themselves.
They also sell legally their own Android TV boxes with the pirated content from Switzerland. Why can they do this without being fucked from behind??
I will find it out eventually but this is interesting to reverse. -
! Dev
As a Netflix subscriber, don't you feel inundated by new content and the need to binge "since paid for it"? How much time do you spend watching?
Just signed up for 30-day trial and and there are like so many original shows and movies and well in multiple languages. And a separate section for Coming Soon which contained like an unending list of movies and tv series.5 -
Hello folks, i wanted to know.
Which series do u like better, dragonball, or transformers, and why.16 -
Just when I am about to watch TV series , wifi is down.
Mobile data barely connecting.
Feels like I am all alone in a isolated island.

it seems in India isps are imposing laws incorrectly regarding torrents.
does any one has something to say abt it?
I believe when I will be in india I will be eligible to download all the tv series and movies as usual. -

Just a little questiom. What's the movie or TV series where you've seen a hacking scene which is probably very close to reality?6 -
lol
found an old config file on my external drive for all my torrent files. awyisss. my SSD died out of nowhere last year and I thought I lost all my torrent configs! I had hundreds of TV series and stuff and I kept track which ones I watched and didn't in the client. so when the SSD died I lost all my knowledge of my progress. but I found this config file just now and imported it. omg booyah. I think I got one show since this backup. godsend
decided to export settings again and it said I can set it on a schedule. go to the scheduler tab in the settings and I have no clue what's going on. nothing about exporting settings, it just has schedule configurations that seem to conflict. then I realized. the main client maybe has a schedule tab icon. bam am right. so in settings I turn on scheduler and then the main app gives me access to the scheduler tab and if I go there I can click "add" and then I can schedule regular config backups
bruh this UI is so jank. but it actually is impressive. because. while I have experience in designing websites, when I played around with making a GUI in rust, which would be native, I have absolutely no clue how to make an app on this tech. now I'm looking at this complex torrent client with its bazillion features in absolute awe.
*takes notes*
I can only aspire to be so genius as to allow you to turn on and remove tabs in the settings menu. now it makes sense why all the windows always had awkwardly sized panels. this genius man.
however did he come up with that?! ALL THESE NEW STANDARDS
honestly somehow it never occurred to me that native apps and web apps would have totally different ergonomics. I feel like I've found some kind of lost art from the ancient world. aaaaaaa -
Prediction:
1. Broadcast (free) TV will consist 100% of live programming
2. All series will be bought and available on streaming services like Amazon, Netflix, Disney+
3. Cable channels or TV episodes can be bought individually (iTunes, Google Videos, etc), basically they will be their own streaming service (it actually that already exists, IPTV? just not in the US?)
Why:
Everyone will use DVRs to record TV shows so can skip all advertisements
Therefore only way to get viewers eyeballs for ads is live programming where you need to cast votes which affect the outcomes (supposedly)
Streaming services obviously don't have this problem and don't need to run ads since there's a monthly subscription fee that more then covers cost.2 -
Hey guys please check out my first android App.It's a Free TV Series Downloader.
It's called Molvix and available on the Google Play store.
Thanks.3
