Came home from a long 4hours meet up.
Was trying to take laptop out from my bag.
Laptop was still on.
Oh my fucking god.3 -
New favourite quote...
Computers are like Old Testament gods; lots of rules and no mercy.
Joseph Campbell -
Schrodingers font size:
When you follow the directions given in the style guide, but it still doesn't match the mockups.
The chosen font size can be considered both wrong and right until examined by a member of the design team. -
And then I thought why not turn my resume into something weird and nerdy. And the result is this, a web app which looks like a terminal and connects to an actual Ubuntu terminal. It's not great, but it's something. 😃

A client wants to make a Pokemon GO type of game.. In two months.. (before the hype ended, they said)19

That personal Arduino project I made for my own use, is now going to the Paralympics in Rio with a potential medal winner.5

Job Ad says "Web Developer". Requested skills were HTML, CSS, PHP & XML. Go to interview & get grilled about my design skills. Web Developer != Web Designer people! Get it together! 🙄🙄🙄5

After giving up on multiple attempts to contribute to opensource projects, came to know about 'yourfirstpr' on one of the comments here.
Long story short, a week later and I've made my first pull request to libgit which has been merged :)
Thanks DevRant community 😊2 -
I hate you fucking callbacks. why don't you callback in the fucking order you were motherfucking called!!!! why must you force me to call a callback a callback!! 😣😡😤👹2

so i decided to check out the client departments jira project page, never have I had more respect for front end developers, don't think I could have the patience for aligning things at pixel accuracy, design qa are ruthless!1

I saw a recruiter rant on linked in where they can't figure out why candidates won't give out current salary or they won't represent. If you have been working in and learning hot technologies in your current job but you know you can earn more why would you want to be represented at the lowest possible rate? I say give them an acceptable salary range not current rate. I am seeing why devs are moving toward meet ups and networking to get decent work.1

Someone tagged PEBCAK on here the other day and it reminded me that I have this printed and hanging in my cubicle. It helps me not break my computer when someone comes to me to help them with stupid things.

Started working at a large company with promises of a great framework, stable environment and bleeding edge tools, decentralised working environment, only to find visual studio 2010, no git, no project management tooling whatsoever, all documentation stored on svn, no slack or other modern communications platform, still using uploaded word documents as documentation for projects and meetings, so yeah I can truly say :/11

I still wonder why some certifications cost 200$+ just to answer some questions to get a PDF certificate without actually being trained or receiving studying material.9

lately my IT mantra in the vein of "have you tried turning it off and back on again" has become "did you check the logs for error output"😡
NOTE to all developers of any level: if you want help do your due diligence! Check the logs, try to step debug and at the very least please at least pretend to perform a cursory search3 -
Thinking about getting this as a tattoo on my wrist (without the words), what do you think? Currently 21, will this decision fuck me over somewhere?11
