Christmas lights were blinking randomly IN SECTIONS without any sort of "control brick", just with a plain wall plug and TWO wires coming out of it.
In this house we obey the laws of physics, I immediately called magic on this and started digging. I found out that was like five chains of lights wired in parallel, and every chain contained one special lamp that had a thin plate of some thermal-sensitive material inside. It heats up which makes it go straight, thus breaking its chain until it cools down enough to curl again and make the contacts touch.
Brilliant and really cheap way of making randomly blinking Christmas lights without any kind of controller, with just two wires and some physics. That's what I call "nocode".11 -
During a company wide status meeting where all product managers, architects and directors assemble:
Me: *A product architect leading a team of devs*
Directors: So are there any issues or risks you see in delivering the next build in target time for Client 1?
Me: There are too many changes in feature requirements. First they said we can use a shared NFS for storage. Now they are asking to switch over to SFTP pull mode.. blah blah..
Directors: Oh I see.. well we can support both solutions then.
Me: But the deadlin..
Directors: *ignores what I say* Will be a good marketing point for future.
Me: But there are too many regressions in integra..
Directors: *ignores what I say* We should also meet deadlines. That is the most important thing.
Me: Its not as easy as 1+1=2.. The team needs more time to..
Directors: *ignores what I say* Ok lets move on to the next point. What about Client 2?

I've been trying out no-code solutions for a while and I have found some awesome products out there that are super easy to setup and get running, but fuck me, I never thought I would find something so magnificent, so well planned and executed and fits into a tiny package.
No bloatware, no package dependencies, no nothing.

You will know your 2 year old dev team is messed up when the 'best programmer of the bunch' does a line like:
boolean check = ...some logic...;
if(check == true) {...
:/ and I'm going to be leading this team..10 -
So yeah, it's cool, I only built a process based on years of experience. Just go ahead and completely ignore it. A failure to plan on your part doesn't constitute an emergency on mine.

What is Object oriented programming:
Father - Son, go and get Red Label
Son - 750ml or 1 ltr??
Mother - Son, go and get Red Label
Son - 500gms or 1 kg??!!

When you decide to take a brake from coding and open reddit to laugh a little, then suddenly your adderall kicks in along with your 3rd cup of coffee and then realize 4 hours have gone by and you have not done shit but laugh at memes.... 🤦🏼♀️4

My favourite open source project has got be this: https://github.com/kelseyhightower/...
Just amazing work by Kelsey Hightower.
The code structuring is fabulous!!

"Non-technical" users must have some magic skill that goes beyond my understanding. How can anyone work with no-code page builders? I tried Wix, Webflow, Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi, and Semplice. Each one sucks in their way, but they have one thing in common: their UI behaves even more erratically than Microsoft Word.
Is there a "non-technical personal computer user" class where people learn that logic? How did they manage to hide their secret understanding from developers? Or what did I miss?8 -
My life have changed after using https://github.com/kelseyhightower/... in my project.
PS: Don't forget to look into contributing steps.1 -
My company boss wants to reorganise the team structures drastically.
Currently we have different teams for each product. And in that team we have a lead, frontend and backend developers working in sync.
The boss wants to split the teams not based on product.. but based on technology / frontend backend. Then assign the members to products based on demand.
Not sure how that is gonna turn out..6 -
There are contractors in office to take out garbage (devices, boxes etc) that we'd put away last week as part of spring cleaning
Now they're doing it on premises ...
Sound of metal, boxes, clutter, breaking this and that. This is quite annoying and hard to bear
And a freaking Monday, why can't they arrange shit over the weekend.
It's no noisy like a (scrap) kabadi shop.

I am currently trying to integrate a java webeditor/IDE into my company's product.
It's a nocode platform that supports extentions through codeunits. Currently we are lacking a way to store them inside the application and compile and inject them while thapp is running, that's what I'm creating.3 -
Hey, to all programmers here :) ...
What do you do when you don't have to code for a day :o...How will you spend this holiday ^_^?8 -
Does anyone have experience with no-code or low-code platforms? My company started a huge project in one and it’s driving me nuts like why do i have to do my code in colored boxes in a child’s play??10

The best way to write secure and reliable applications? Write nothing; deploy nowhere.

after moving back to my home country, buying an apartment and after my career started to head to nowhere because there is nothing to code for me in work, just manager stuff, I am returning to coding after work to get back into shape, practice more, learn new stuff (and the old stuff)
wanted to create a small webapp with laravel/vue, holy fucking shit how hard it is (for me) to setup your env
install composer -> command php not found
o.O im pretty sure i had php on this machine HOW THE FUCK WOULD I HAVE ALL THESE PROJECTS HERE THEN
install php8.1 -> no such package
-.-
upgraded to ubuntu 22.04, install php8.1, composer
create new laravel project -> 3 errors, missing laravel/pint, phpunit
* visible confusion * i told you to create a project, if you need it, why didn't you... oh, wait
composer install -> same
well, * looks left, looks right * --ignore-platform-reqs
but still getting the chills from a new project, now I go sleep and tomorrow I start my journey to get back to business, wish me luck -

I'm on holidays for three weeks, without coding, and I miss it a lot. I thing I have a problem.... Do you suffer the same?1
