I'm all for geeky, feminine clothing, but surely they could have consulted a real developer before putting Javascript on a BSOD-blue/old-school-console-development-blue blue dress? It's like having a shirt that says "I love tacos" with pictures of sushi. Similar, but just wrong.

> In office for first time in awhile
> Run into group of 4 people I don’t recognize in far cubicle corning laughing in hushed voices eating of an impressive spread of food
> See me and immediately look at each other with panicked expressions
> Confused, I put my hands up to indicate I come in peace
> They relax a little and say they thought I was from HR since they didn’t recognize me
> Ask why HR seeing them would be such a big deal
> They say their potluck is not “sanctioned”
> …?
So apparently HR just could resist ruining one of the only good things about coming into the office and one of the coolest things about the company’s culture. At least once a month there would be a giant potluck where everyone would bring some home cooked dish and share it. I can’t tell you how amazing these are in Canada, 50+ plates of authentic food from all over the world.
Unfortunately HR didn’t agree as 1. They didn’t cook so felt bad taking food. 2. Nobody asked them permission to put on these events they just happened organically. 3. Some people were bringing in food that they felt was culturally inappropriate (ie. caucasian guy bringing in homemade sushi).
HR recently banned all “unsanctioned” potlucks and all future potlucks needed to be approved through them with the following stipulations. 1. You could participate without bringing something by donating to HR $10 2. If you brought something you still had to give HR $10. 3. Things you brought in had to be approved by HR
Naturally the first and only potluck under these rules only 4 people brought something in as many couldn’t get their dishes approved because HR didn’t like what they were planning to bring (started out as being because culture and turned into HR just being picky), most just brought $10 so there wasn’t enough food to go around and so after HR took a giant group photo to post on the company’s social media accounts to show off how good the company’s culture is most everyone had to go out for lunch. HR sent out an email later that day exclaiming what a huge success for charity and the company brand the potluck was and they can’t wait for the next one. (I have the HR communications email marked as spam so I never saw the email). Nobody ever organized a sanctioned potluck after that.
However people still missed cooking and sharing their favourite recipes with one another so potlucks still occur but they are now very small, secret, invite-only, hush-hush affairs.

So I had finished my work early in class and asked the teacher if I could do something on my laptop for the remaining half an hour.
I take out my laptop and immediately people start asking if I'm hacking.
3 people come and sit next to me and ask what every line of code means that I write. (I think they got underwhelmed real fast because I was debugging).
The teacher then comes into the room and asks what I was doing and I said just working on an app project. She explains to me that it is illegal for me to be hacking and I could get into serious trouble if I am caught. I facepalm and she says your disturbing everyone else get off of your laptop and read a book.
I left that class thinking is she even qualified, what is she thinking. Are you teachers the same.11 -
God dammit why does he need to test things with my account, I have work todo. Can't he just use a 'test' account.

So my teacher wanted to play a movie cos the class got good test results, and so she asked me how to play a movie on her laptop and get it on the TV and this is how it went down...
Teacher: Sukhi, do you think you could help me.
Me: Yea sure, what do you need help with
Teacher: So I want to play a movie tomorrow but I don't know how to get it up on the TV
Me: Oh its easy just get a HDMI cable and plug your laptop into it.
Teacher: Oh yea I have like 6 of those. Ok then see ya tomorrow.
*The next day*
Teacher: Hey Sukhi, heres the HDMI cable. *Pulls out a AUX cord*
Me: *laughing and crying at the same time*2 -
So i was talking to my client the other day and this is what happened....
Me: So what features do you want in the Progress Tracker in the app.
Client: (takes his IPAD out and opens the FitBit app) This is a really nice progress tracker.
Me: Alright so what features would you like in Progress Tracker, eg: would you maybe like them to check in everyday making sure that they have done exercise or something.
Client: *Shows me his goal in steps (which was 10,000 if anyone was wondering) and shows me other features of the app and not telling me what to do in his own one* These look nice.
Me: Alright so do you want a Step Tracker, Calories Tracker etc.
Client: Nooooo, I want other things.
Me: Ok lets get discussing what are these "other things"
Client: *Continues to show me the FitBit app*
Me: *facepalm* -
New project arrises says teacher, my mate and I go to the meeting and it seems alright, guy says he'll pay us $1000 each.
A couple weeks later, "Sorry boys cant get that much money need to pay you $500 each".
Now we have basically finished the whole thing he sends an email and it says, "We got a great fund of $333 for both of you."
Lesson learnt never work in a community project if your looking for money.7 -

So I am currently making an app for a retail franchise and that retail franchise is getting a website done by a company. Since the recipes that the guys want are going to be on the website, the web dev company made a mysql db that has all the recipes.
I thought since the people at the head of the retail franchise have spent time gathering these recipes, I'll just get the data for the app from the db.
I called the project manager for the website up (That's the only contact I got) and asked if they could given me access to the db to use for the app or if I could make a script that would get data from it.
Now this is the part where I tell you I'm only 14 years old and these guys know that because of the head of the retail company.
He puts it on speaker and asks me to say it again and I hear quite a bit of people laughing. I knew what was happening. He asks do you know anything about databases, I explained to him what a db was and how I was going to get the data from it and etc. Half way through me telling him that it would be beneficial for both me and the retail guys, he hung up the call and blocked me.
I asked the head of the retail company if he could ask them about it and he said that he didn't know much about tech so he couldn't ask and if I could find an alternative option.
You might be thinking that the company didn't want to give me permission to access the db which is respectable but they have done this previously as well.
I gave them advice on putting a rewards card feature on the site so the customers could track their points on the site as well as on the app and the PM said "We don't want advice from you."
It has now been 3 weeks on and off because of school where I had to code a ui for the lady at the company to enter all her recipes for the app and waste a lot of time communicating with different people to get all the data.
I hate being disrespected because of my inexperience when I can truly do some extraordinary things with software. 😡😤😣
Its also very hard to find a job being 14.5 -

So I have done some solo projects and some group projects now and I saw that Hacktoberfest was on so I went and signed up. I saw some of the things todo and got overwhelmed with the code on the repo. What do you guys think I should start off with in terms of open source projects. I want to get into some open source projects but don't know what to look for or where to start. Any help would be appreciated.1

So we work in sprints of two weeks, we are two people in our team, in the beginning, we get assigned work and we continue to work on it the rest of the week, but sometimes my manager adds last minute tasks or makes it so whatever i was currently working on is not important anymore after i have already cut a long shot through it
But anyways i understand thats how work is, but what seems to happen now as well is that i finish all the work assigned to me early so i can work on any bug fixes that may arise from such features or old bugs, so then for example he gives task 1,2,3,4 to me and task 5,6,7,8 to my colleague which is ahead of me in rank but not my leader per se, she has more experience as she worked in another company for 7 months before and i never worked before , but then i finish my work by the middle of second week and he ends up adding some of her tasks to me and forces me to finish them fast as he thinks they are no big deal (hes also a non technical manager) so i am always racing to finish whatever he throws at me last minute and ending up getting the blame if i dont finish those last minute tasks, also if i take vacation and come back instead of giving me tasks to do he just gives me bugs of recent features that was done by my colleague while im on vacation
And when i confronted him about it that at any point in time whenever i check how much work is left for me and my colleague, she has less work than me, he said “i will skip all this because you got this wrong” and then continued to just ask me to do more things on the weekend day
Ofc so i tried to make sure i dont finish my work before time so he doesnt do that
But instead he ends up blaming me and saying i should have finished2 -

CAN DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY HELP YOU RECOVER CRYPTO FROM PHISHING ATTACKS?
WhatsApp: +1 (443) 859 - 2886 Email @ digital tech guard . com
Telegram: digital tech guard recovery . com website link / digital tech guard . com
I matched with Samantha on Tinder thinking the usual: favorite movies, travel dreams, the obligatory "so what do you do? " Instead, over a plate of overpriced sushi, she hit me with "Yeah, I lost $250,000 in crypto once. Digital Tech Guard Recovery got it back." I spat my drink. Excuse me? She laughed. "Yeah, some scam drained my wallet overnight. Thought my life was over. Then I came across Digital Tech Guard Recovery, and they did the impossible." I nodded half in amazement, half in disbelief; this lady must have been exaggerating. I mean, who just casually recovers six figures? Cool story, but that could never be me.
Oh, how foolish of me.
Fast forward two months and the universe decided to make me its punchline. I woke up one morning, checked my crypto wallet, and $400,000 was gone. GONE. Like it had been beamed into another dimension. I stared at my screen in horror, refreshing the app like a maniac. Maybe it was a glitch? Maybe my eyes weren't working? Maybe I was hallucinating from lack of sleep Nope. I had fallen for a Ledger fake update. The panic that followed was unlike anything I had ever felt in my life. I was sweating all over my place like I had just finished running a marathon. My brain short-circuited, replaying every bad decision I'd ever made. How could I be this stupid? And then-I remembered Samantha. I scrolled frantically through our old messages, found the name Digital Tech Guard Recovery, and within minutes, I was on the phone, pleading for them to save my financial life. From the moment they answered the phone, I knew I was in good hands: so calm, professional, and eerily confident that their team analyzed my case, assured me they'd track my funds. I barely slept for days on end, checking my emails like a lunatic, waiting for updates. Then, finally—the call: "We recovered your funds. Every last cent." I just sat in complete shock before bursting into laughter. This was what Samantha had described. This time, it was my life they had just saved. I reached for my wallet, and sure enough—there it was, every single dollar back where it belonged. Relief washed over me hard enough that I almost fell. I wanted to scream and cry and throw a party all at once. Instead, I did the only logical thing: I messaged Samantha. "You're never gonna believe this." She replied instantly. "Let me guess… Digital Tech Guard Recovery? " All I could do was send a thumbs-up. Lesson learned: Never ignore good advice from a Tinder date. Also, check on crypto updates yourself; or better yet, have Digital Tech Guard Recovery watch your back.1
