Guys! Yes, you devs! Not all the places in the world has the thing you call "state". Why the hell this field is required unrelated to country?6

Devs in our country are people who will allways have a job. Because companies here need us more than we need them. That's why we have 2x(jr-mid), 3x, 4x (mid), 5x+ (sr) average earnings country-wide.
Job is good, perks are nice, hardware is awesome (idk when was the last time I worked with anything weaker than i7), internet is brilliant (one of the best in the world; I think we have recently lost the "best internet in the world" title recently to some other country). Companies are fighting over us, offering better salaries, better terms. I was even bold enough to list my terms in LinkedIn's summary section and still I am getting offers :D
Devs' life is awesome here :)8 -

Back in Germany, the land of fast cars and slow internet, where rich people preach austerity to prevent improving any kind of infrastructure. How can a first-world country in the heart of Europe suck so badly when it comes to connectivity and train travel?

As a person from low-paying country, how do I reconcile with the fact that for the same work, and the same 8 hours, I get 1/3 of what a person in Germany does? In my previous team (same company), one of my teammates was from Germany. The same team, the same work, but he happened to earn a lot more.
This bothers me a lot sometimes. I have seen people requesting to be transferred to another country, and being denied, presumably because of the salary difference. Then, the person leaves, and someone in Australia gets hired. So, rather than moving a veteran person of whom you know fits your company culture to a higher-paying country, you let him go and hire a newbie in an equally-expensive country? What the fuckity fuck?
And to my friends from high-paying countries, especially managers: you don't have to feel bad, but have some common decency. If you come to my country, do not say "oh gosh, everything here is so cheap," or "the dinner for the whole team costs less than buying my family of four a dinner back home." That's offensive as fuck. Tried to find and download drivers for a Dell laptop, but no matter what I got redirected to pages in Finnish. There's a country selector - also in Finnish. However, in my country we speak Swedish. Åland Islands is not an option in the country list, and Sweden is not called anything even remotely close to Sverige or Sweden in Finnish...so unless you happen to know Finnish you'll have to pick a country haphazardly until you find a language where you can at least understand the word Sweden. Once finally on the Swedish page, if you click your way forward on the support pages, you end up on the Finnish page again...AAARGH! Dell, if you want to be helpful then do it right! Once again, in Åland Islands, we speak Swedish. Even if Dell would acknowledge my country, making any assumptions about the user's language merely based on their geographical location, is flat out stupid! Have those morons at Dell never heard about multi-lingual countries? Or commuters? Tourists? Newsflash: In AD 2016 the world is multicultural and people also tend to travel abroad.

I’ve 2 great job opportunities and would like to get some opinions from you guys..
The first position is in my home country, I’ve passed the first interviews and (highly advanced) coding test.
I’d have the possibility to contribute to something big that really matters nowadays.
I would learn about lots of stuff that really interests me (security, embedded systems...)
The second position is in another country, I’ve passed the first interview and just received the coding test.
There I could work on a cool project and I’d definitely learn a lot there, too. But more important is that I love the county, there I really feel like “home”, I love the people and culture.
In case both of them want me, it would be really Hard to make my decision..

What is software development like where you live? Would you say it's good/modern or bad/outdated?
For example, in Peru (this has a degree of truth of up to 95%):
- React isn't even a thing (nevermind RN)
- Everything uses Angular
- No Django, no Rails, no Express. Everything Laravel, CodeIgniter and .NET
- No NoSQL
- Objective-C >> Swift
- AWS? cPanel!
- No testing
Of course I focused on the "bad" part, but maybe this is what rants are for :) And I haven't said anything about salaries 😪
What about you? And please don't forget to mention your country.2 -

However I soon want to relocate from my country, and I was thinking about this: Is it a problem that I don’t have a diploma, or just the acual work experience would be enough for me to get a job abroad?
