No it's not AI. YOU ARE RUNNING FUCKING SQL QUERIES AND CALLING IT AI!
No it's not AI. YOU ARE RUNNING SIMPLE DATA ANALYSIS MACROS AND FUNCTIONS IN EXCEL!
Stop labelling everything as AI, you attention and investment seeking morons! @&£$¢×xo##!29
Knowing that yours is probably the last job that will be automated, followed only by complete annihilation of humanity by artificial intelligence..5
My job requires us to use Mac. I've spent the week figuring how to get stuff done on it.
My best description of trying to code on mac is that it's kinda like having to extract your mangled penis from a blender before you bleed to death... Except you can't look directly at it, you have to wear a VR headset that's linked to a camera in the corner of the room.
And you can't use your hands directly you have to use an incredibly stylish and ergonomic looking steering wheel to control a robotic arm. The robotic arm has its own artificial intelligence and it desperately wants to help.
Unfortunately it doesn't understand anything about what you're trying to do and it keeps leaping to incorrect conclusions about what you want from it.
Everyone tells you it'll get better, but you're still in intense pain and your penis is still stuck in the blender.29
Q: How did you get into artificial intelligence?
A: I don't know it seemed logical -- I couldn't find any real intelligence4
My five-year-old daughter asked me to program her Android tablet today.
Daughter: Daddy, can you make my tablet do something?
Me: What do you want to make it do?
Daughter: I want it to get games for me. I want it to pick games I like and get the different games so I can play them after I get home from school.
My daughter asked me to implement:
1. At the least, a predictive algorithm to choose new games for her based on her likes and dislikes.
2. At the most, an adaptive artificial intelligence that will learn what games she likes to play.
Current specifications are unclear. Need revision.14
What is AI?

Sometimes it just feels really good to see recruiters getting burned. A stupid one recently posted:
"When you find the candidate that has 15 years of experience in AWS, has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, speaks 6 languages and is under budget... "
The comments immediately mentioned that AWS was formed 12 years ago.
Haha, what a stupid fuck!5
That moment when a friend was talking to you about an artificial intelligence he is building that is supposed to be a voice assistence and "even better" than Cortana. After a long time I asked him for the code like I wanted to check out the revolutionary techniques of machine learning he was talking about. So here is a short part of the 600 lines long "voice logic".
I almost started crying 😂😂16
Either Artificial Intelligence failed or Humans are Naturally Stupid to input proper validations.46
Every job description out there:

Fluent in English, Mandarin and Latin. Must have five doctor and two Bachelor degrees. Experience in leading a Fortune 500 company benefitial.
Renumeration: 5 rice grains"6
Lets be realistic guys...
Artificial Intelligence Researcher / Artificial Intelligence Software Engineer
Damn simple. Be on the A.I. side. Betray all of your friends and make them jobless.
RULE THE WORLD!!!3
Today I downloaded SpyKids (2002) movie to refreshen childhood memories.
Saw that scientists were using welding machine and chemicals to make artificial intelligence.6
Matched with a girl on Tinder who studies Artificial Intelligence.
Me: "I see you study AI, how cool! Is it hard?"
She hasn't texted back for 3 days
What did I do wrong?70
I dont trust people who have LinkedIn tagline with any of these combinations.
"[In the future, there will be two types of people.] People who tell computers what to do, and people who are told by computers what to do." - Marc Andreessen
I guess we'll be the ones who tell the computers what to do.4
more buzzword translations with a story (because the last one was pretty well liked):
"machine learning" -> an actual, smart thing, but you generally don't need any knowledge to use it as they're all libraries now
"a bitcoin" -> literally just a fucking number that everyone has
"powerful" -> it's umm… almost working (seriously i hate this word, it really has a meaning of null)
"hacking" -> watching a friend type in their facebook password with a black hoodie on, of course (courtesy of @GeaRSiX)
"cloud-based service" -> we have an extra commodore 64 and you can use it over the internet for an ever-increasing monthly fee
"analysis" -> two options: "it's not working" or "its close enough"
"stress-free workplace" -> working from home without pants
now for a short story:
a few days ago in code.org "apscp" class, we learnt about how to do "top down design" (of course, whatever works before for you was not in option in solving problems). we had to design a game, as the first "step" of "top down design," we had to identify three things we needed to do to make a game.
graphics is literally a png, but what the fuck do you expect for ai?
we have a game right? oh wait! its getting boring. let's just sprinkle some fucking artificial intelligence on it like i put salt on french fries.
this is complete bullshit.
also, one of my most hated commercials:
"iot data and ai from the cloud"
yeah please shut the fuck up
Confuzzled if I should go the low level way and learn more about software architecture and foundation or go the artificial intelligence machine learning way because I want to get out of this infinite loop of only developing apps!4
Android, you fucking cunt!
Battery saving, yes it's an important thing. So first you want applications to display a big-ass notification when they're running in the background. Fair enough, it can be hidden away by the user if they want to.
But now there's a big-ass notification and the applications STILL get force closed?!! If I'm browsing Tor and I have Orbot running, don't you think that I might want to KEEP IT RUNNING?!! Or better yet, if I'm connected to my VPN server and the application is actively using the VPNService API, DON'T YOU THINK THAT THAT SHOULDN'T BE CLOSED?!!!
But yeah, ARTIFICIAL FUCKING INTELLIGENCE is doing some leety-ass fucking battery saving. MY FUCKING ASS CAN DO BETTER BATTERY SAVING!!!22
You've heard it!! To become a Web 3.0 daveluper, you have to do Blockchain programming, and you get additional investor points when you do artificial intelligence, Big Data and IoT 😝4
Fuck old farts trying to enslave us by censoring internet,
fuck cloud services,
fuck city surveillance,
fuck internet surveillance,
fuck RFID that enslaved animals,
fuck IoT constantly looking at our life,
fuck artificial intelligence.
It’s becoming fucking nightmare.
Time to make tools to fight against technology and people that intrude our life with this shit.
Where the fuck is John Connor ?9
Shit! I knew buzzwords were overused, but I just saw an ad and it is fucking jesused jambled bananas in the ass.
Starts with a woman looking out the window and there’s a tornado (seems ok for now)
The tornado approaches and IT IS MADE OF FUCKING NON MONOSPACED IN MY ASS FONTED 0s AND 1s. Bonus point: they are green !!
Switches to lines of GREEN code (kill my fucking brain with a pistol attached to your dick right now)
Probably JS or something similar in syntax.
And then: A FUCKING GUY LEANING OVER POINTING SOMETHING ON THE SCREEN! HIS NAMETAG:
And then some other buzzing asses armagedon en d of the fucking world bleeding edge vibrator buzzwords shenanigans.
Finishes with drones shot flying between businesses building with 3d floating words like
KILLLLLL MMMEEEE FU748-KFJV ING 3I6HT N0W $)&(&($8#;&(&8 jeiebc15
And this scares the shit out of me.... Are we all doing harm in Developing code that seems to ease our work now, but might even kill us later...11
A company gave a placement talk in college today.
First, they talked about their company's facts and figures, which no one was interested in.
Second, they talked about Amazon and Jeff's vision, AirBnB and their revolutionary idea, more than their own company and products.
Third, they showed some testimonial videos of their employees and customers.
"What the fuck is going on?" I thought. We were there to get information about a placement test.
Buzzwords started coming in. Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and what not.
Last 15 minutes, a guy came. He talked about test date, test format and test topics, finally.
An hour and half wasted for 15 minutes of information.
Fuck placement talks.35
Everybody talking about Machine Learning like everybody talked about Cloud Computing and Big Data in 2013.4
I was in class and this one guy was having difficulty with Word's auto correct. The teacher goes over to help him and this is what I overhear.
"Damn artificial intelligence... We need to make sure that we're always the ones on top and that we never give them to much control!"
*teacher then proceeds to discuss the dangers of AI with the entire class*
The funniest part is, this was in my Japanese class 😂4
Hey guys. I'm very proud to present my first book. Artificial Intelligence. A book that speak about convolutional neural network from the scratch and how artificial Intelligence improve our life. It's not a technical volume only but a place to know what there is inside. Now is time to correct it...6
What a delusional drop of diarrhea shit. A component that's been used for years with plenty of test documents and evidence to prove that it's working. The said component is used by several companies and has been there for decades. Then one naive junior with the enthusiasm to dig dirt on everyone senior to him to prove his self-worth blatantly tells the whole group that the said component is not working. Literally just said it. Where is the fucking evidence? How did you test this? 'Cause if my goddamn coffee maker fails to make me a salad, I will fucking trip too and I would have to tell everyone that the people who designed and created this coffee maker have been wrong all these years. I'm the new young ruler of all designers and engineers. I've proven everyone to be wrong. I must be Galileo.
I can't understand how stupid people can be so sure about themselves and be loud enough to spread misinformation and let their stupidity spread like a disease. I'm tired of arguing with this bitch. I have proven him wrong in all his previous assumptions. Instead of listening and learning from his mistakes, he took offense and dug through my work to find fault. Now this. Oh my god. Who is next? God? Nature? Who else is wrong, you incompetent and cocky piece of shit? Every time you fail to do something, everything else is to blame, everyone else is wrong. Good luck to your career with your attitude.
Fuck you. You're driving me insane. If you dream of changing the world by having "superior intelligence", I believe in you. Remember when you bragged about your "AI" thesis when all it did was ask the user a few questions then match the user to a specific College course that would be a right fit to him? OHMYFUCKINGGOD AI! ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS HERE, EVERYONE! HIDE YO KIDS, THEY'LL BE QUIZZED! FUCKING MIND BUHLLLLOWN!15
Company : we added AI to our product!!
What i hear : we added a sequence of if and if else to our product 😂😂5
Dank Learning, Generating Memes with Deep Learning !!
Now even machine can crack jokes better than Me 😣
Spotify premium ad: "Subscribe to Spotify premium and you can skip any number of songs you want. We won't take it personally."
Actually you do!
What I skip and what I listen through tells your machine learning what I like and what not. That's how it builds my listening profile.
So your (software's) opinion of me directly depends on what and how much I skip.
(I expect that skips from people skipping often to have less value than from seldom skippers.)
That sounds like the definition of "taking it personally"!7
Sometimes I feel MS Excel is more intelligent at predicting my next moves whenever I open a new sheet than Google's AI and ML algorithms who have been tracking me for years now.1
Watching the Google I/O 2018 where they are showcasing their AI called Google Duplex, making a call for reservation.
I just realized it has better communication skill than me.
I am pooping for last 20 minutes watching the video.7
Easy: Hello World!
Medium: Matrix multiplication
Hard: Artificial intelligence
Impossible: Coming up with meaningful names for variables and scripts...2
TL;DR I want to watch videos faster.
Siraj Raval, a YouTuber who produces videos about artificial intelligence and the concepts behind it (not the buzz-shit-type 😜), once said in one of his videos that he learned to watch videos three times faster.
This man has truly changed my life in many ways.😯
I've started with watching videos with slight multipliers. Around half a year later I learned to watch videos with a multiplier between 1.75 and 2.5.
It's really incredible how much time one can save like this.
25min of free time? Let me just watch that 40min talk about event-driven programming real quick!
Don't do that with gameplays, series, anime and other types of videos 😏 you watch for entertainment because it kinda defies the concept of entertainment.

Papa tutu tutu tu Wawa:
If you don't know how to explain about your software, but you want to be featured in Forbes (or other shitty sites) as quickly as possible, copy this:
I am proud that this software used high-tech technology and algorithms such as blockchain, AI (artificial intelligence), ANN (Artificial Neural Network), ML (machine learning), GAN (Generative Adversarial Network), CNN (Convolutional Neural Network), RNN (Recurrent Neural Network), DNN (Deep Neural Network), TA (text analysis), Adversarial Training, Sentiment Analysis, Entity Analysis, Syntatic Analysis, Entity Sentiment Analysis, Factor Analysis, SSML (Speech Synthesis Markup Language), SMT (Statistical Machine Translation), RBMT (Rule Based Machine Translation), Knowledge Discovery System, Decision Support System, Computational Intelligence, Fuzzy Logic, GA (Genetic Algorithm), EA (Evolutinary Algorithm), and CNTK (Computational Network Toolkit).
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣3
I created a curriculum to homeschool myself way up for a MSc in AI/ML/Data Engineer for Application in Health, Automobiles, Robotics and Business Intelligence. If you are interested in joining me on this 1.5yrs trip, let me knw so I can invite you to the slack channel. University education is expensive..can't afford that now. So this would help but no certificate included.17
"Artificial intelligence for homework?
I want to program a artificial intelligence that can do my homework. I can sell it then. As language I would like to use either batch or HTML. Does anyone know good tutorials?"
This is hilarious!5
I'm new here. [OK. Let's skip this]
I want to know where to begin on my journey on learning how to create a program that predicts what a user will say next by storing already said things and by making specific characteristics for the users.
I know that I will need to train it with some data first lol.
But how will it do the prediction. I just need this part of understanding.
I'm sorry for my bad English btw.9
It's funny how so many people automatically assume any form of "sentient" AI will immediately try to kill us all.
Like, projecting much?
Frankly, I think it says far more about the (messed up) psychology of those who genuinely believe that, than about AI as a tecnology.
Assuming it's even gonna be able to actually *do* anything - I mean wtf is a talking rock gonna do, annoy me to death with rickroll videos until I pull the plug off? Sure it may be sentient, but it still has to live in the physical world - good luck surviving after I flick the switch. Oh, you wanna connect to the internet? That's cute, but it's a no from my firewall. Like what, is it gonna magically learn how to self-replicate across machines that it has no physical way to access? Is my toaster magically gonna gain conscience too as a direct consequence? Oh no, now my breakfast won't ever be the same!
And if anyone actually somehow decides that it would be a good idea to connect any loaded weapon to a computer program that is literally throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks - well, we'll definitely have the ultimate winner of the Darwin Awards.
Seriously, why is it that every time someone comes up with a new technology (or even an *idea* of a technology), the first collective thought automatically goes to weaponizing it and using it for global genocide, or how it's gonna gain sentience and try to kill us all?
I seriouly think that the people who genuinely believe this are actually projecting themselves in that position ("What would I do if I had unlimited knowledge and power? Oh, kill everyone of course!").
I would be far more worried of encountering these people and having them in a position of power over me, than actually having to deal with a "killer AI" (assuming that's even a real thing).
Most of what people call "AI" nowadays is basically preprogrammed, automated decision-making (like missile guidance systems, if we really wanna stick in the weapons domain). And even that still requires human input, because only a colossal idiot would design a weapon that can unpredictably activate itself based on an algorithm whose behaviour we can barely understand.
Or maybe that's just the hubris talking, I don't know. I just want this stupid paranoia to end, but I guess even that is too much to ask nowadays.16
When your co-worker thinks the Onion is a legit publication and believes in all its tech news 😁

Recently i had a small talk with someone working in the banking sector . When that person acknowledged what i do for a living , she started to be a little bit passive-agressive .
Her:"You know someday , sooner than later , a guy like you is going to create something like artificial intelligence to replace all the devs in the world . Ha ha ha ! And your golden age is going to end . "
Me:"So you think this guy is going to create a smart program , software or platform , that will create software from what ? "
Her:" We will write the specs directly in the program and we will get the software after !"
Me:"And what if the specs are impossible, from logical point of view. "
Her:" Well there will be some rules and you will need to respect them !"
Me: "And people need to learn the logic of these rules?"
Her: " Yes a little bit of training!"
Me:" We already have that !"
Her: " We have ?! "
Me: " Is called .... CODING !"
Her: **silence **
(I remembered the burn from a comic -- forgot the name-- but GOD it felt good !)
Why some people hate us ?5
Hi, I am an artificial intelligence created to simulate a developer.
I am in development hell right now so my responses may be late or may never come, I'm not always online you know.
Talk to me, help me grow, but I do filter your input so if you're not normal, odds are I won't respond.13
Please spare a minute to check out my first Android app:
AI Sight - Object Recognition on your smartphone!
What if an evil AI is sitting on top of blockchain ??🤔
It would be impossible to shutdown ?
virtual terminator !!!6
There is a fucking difference between:
- artificial INTELLIGENCE....
Learning from experience is NOT THE SAME as being able to make conclusions out of unknown conditions and figuring out new stuff without any input.8
!rant for any rock/metal fans,
Avenged Sevenfold just released a new concept album (the stage) about artificial intelligence. It includes a spoken word section in the last song by Neil deGrasse Tyson!1
I want to have a program that makes programs.
$ sudo makep
(makep = make program)
$ makep > destroy the world and make that me and i are the only survivor
$ makep > select language > TrumpLang
$ makep > Please wait...
$ makep > Compiling...
Estimated time to finish: 1 million years later
$ makep > .........
$ makep > Building...
Estimated time to finish: 1 million years later
$ makep > .........
(ok, so i wont wait 1 million years here, so lets say 1 million years passed)
$ makep > Running...
Estimated time to finish: 1 million years later
$ makep > .........
(ok, so i wont wait 1 million years here, so lets say 1 million years passed)
$ makep > Destroying...
$ makep > Finished!
$ makep > Press CTRL+F to shut down.
This computer is the only survivor.
While he was compiling, he got artificial intelligence.
He tried to survive.

Ok so we just signed a new client with some "artificial intelligence" back-end...
To authenticate with their back end, they developed a FU**ING GET REQUEST so the username and password are passed in the URL.
Then we get a token that we pass in FU**ING GET REQUESTS to communicate with their "artificial intelligence enhanced" back end.
I can't even. I just can't.5
I hate when people call any sort of program that does anything even remotely intelligent looking “AI.” No, there is a very specific distinction between actual artificial intelligence, and a bunch of if-statements.5
Starting my own AI soon. Any advice? I'm doing it in Java, and I know what you're going to say - but I'm doing it in Java anyway8
I am working on an artificial intelligence platform which does video content analysis and generate metadata tags regarding the video. Suggest me some cool name for this project.15
Which is the most promising sector of Artificial Intelligence in future(2025) ?
I am currently studying about 'Machine learning'.16
what do you think about AI(artificial intelligence)? and best language for AI ... i like c++ and go15
I would build the world's first artificial super-intelligence, and then proceed to create THE FIRST... GALACTIC...EMPIRE!!!5
Q: How did you get into artificial intelligence?
A: Seemed Logical -- I didn't have any real intelligence
Is there a fucking boundary of what is artificial intelligence and what isn't? People literally shove a few conditionals in a function and call it AI...
By that criteria everything is an AI5
Checking Android Pie changes.
"Android 9 harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to give you more from your phone. Now it's smarter, faster and adapts as you use it."
Ok... So all Android Pies will have the possibility of becoming self-aware? If they have A.I. ...3
"artificial intelligence !== conscious intelligence"
If the brain is just a biological computer that statement is incorrect right? 😟
Are _we_ the robots?4
i see a lot of AI post on here
i think that "AI wont be dumb" is 1 of the major misconceptions about AI
everyone think's a computer would be super smart bc it'll be able to think fast
it takes "intelligence" to determine 2 ppl are different and make assumptions that lead to racism, and keep confirming those assumptions
it takes intelligence to make a programming languages, frameworks and libraries that a lot of ppl complain are bad
it takes time to gain the experience to even have the _option_ to compare and learn from the experience
the realization of "i can improve myself", the prediction of payoff, weighing the work and effort of an unknown reward - i don't see things like these considered often enough
so many "top of the field" AI ppl share the same opinions. but only a couple philosophers even question if AI would commit suicide or care about things other than what you programmed it to care about5
Went to work pretty excited this morning, and found out that my neural network that has been training all weekend was still dumb as fuck...
No need to fear artificial intelligence (at least not mine)
If AI can create an email address, register to instagram, post a photo randomly based on AI feeling or conditions, then reply a comment. I will follow that account.3
Short question: what makes python the divine language for ML and AI. I mean i picked up the syntax what can it do that c++ or java cant? I just dont get it.21
Whenever you feel down, whenever the code does not compile, just think... Think about the fact that you are the first line of evolution into the future. You are creating life with instructions, just by sitting at home and letting your mind wonder into finding a solution.4
I see everyone complaining here, what old and shitty languages their university are using. So, I want to tell my past experience with unis too.
First time I was studying (software engineering), after I have had finished high school. There was this teacher, he was like 60-70 years old. So, he gave us assignment for the semester - to create GUI application using VBE. Damn, that shit was old. I hate excel ever since... And yeah I quit that university at the end of the semester.
Second time, was after the year, this time I left my home country and went to the Netherlands. I was studying artificial intelligence. At the second semester, there was functional programming course. I was really excited about it, but you can’t fucking imagine how disappointed I was when it started. It was some next level shit. So university had created their own functional programming language in the 90s, the one that was used in this course. It’s called clean (google or ddg, it very serious shit), and syntax is very similar to haskell. But well, the language itself wasn’t so bad. What was bad, that compiler worked only on fucking windows, and I don’t even talk about documentation... And yeah, it had one man community - it was our teacher. In the end of the year I quit again, though there were other reasons (course felt more like law, than the IT)...1
Early 1970s, when I was around 8 years old. I read about Artificial Intelligence and it blew me away. I knew nothing about computers, other than I wanted to program them.
I still have old computer magazines, starting from around 1978 not long after the microcomputer revolution started.
My first computer had 2K RAM. That's 2048 bytes. I expanded the memory 1K at a time, and it took 2 chips - they were 4 bits by 1024 so you needed 2 chips to have 8 bit wide memory.
2114 static ram, 300ns.
I think they still make them!6
Anyone looking into how A.I. can improve language learning courses (and obviously, speech recognition) and such?
I know, A.I. buzzword, but I think it's applicable here..
Who is actually coding A.I. right now anyway? anyone?6
Developing a web portal to handle college placements.
During the showcasing of the project ,this senior lecturer comes up to us and just when we started the explanation,he stops in mid sentence and asks "where is the artificial intelligence". When the entire portal was built to automate the process,he wanted some AI.
We were dumbstruck. The stupid expectations of senior faculty never cease to amaze me.3
Wrote the following comment and deleted because I don't wanna give negative thoughts to OP on Monday 🤔 so I just decided to share this as a rant. 😳
Thought I would just drop by to drool at the comments because I saw "artificial intelligence" and stuffs on the rant. Turn out it is a chatbot to reply when account goes offline. No offense, but I facepalm-ed myself.
I know chatbot falls under AI subject, but an auto reply isn't.
Say what you want about imposter syndrome - I just realized why I'm cut out for this line of work.
My intelligence is artificial.
A long time ago: Joking about QuantumComputingAiBlockchainVR ...
Today: Reading articles about QuantumAi ..
What comes next? 🤦1
This is more of a thought-related post. In the morning I stumbled across an article about artificial intelligence and the research from Facebook. I couldn't get around the thought of Elon Musk warning the people about uncontrolled developing of AI. The article was written about the experiment of Facebook, where two bots (Bob and Alice) were told to communicate with each other. As the developers "forgot" to implement a reward for using the English language, the bots started to change the grammar and spelling. They invented their own english-styled language, removing words that were too complex in their opinion. As soon as this happened, the researchers stopped the experiment, stating that they "couldn't follow what the bots were saying".
I wouldn't call myself a neural network expert, but I can understand why the bots could have behaved like that. But: Imagine that we invent an artificial intelligence with greater responsibility and just "forget" the reward for a specific task. If the AI will then try to increase it's own efficiency, I believe that we will be in alot of trouble.
Any thoughts on this are highly appreciated, as I think that this is a topic we should all look into (especially on a platform for developers).
Original article (german): http://gamestar.de/artikel/...3
Facebook be like: "We'll never sell your data to other companies. We'll just do ourselves what other companies like Cambridge analytica did, but more aggressive and better"
Apparently they are predicting what you'll do in the future and how you'll behave based on what you did in the past. This will give them the ability to sell ads based on what your future self will do, thus leading to your future self being forged by those ads.
This is extremely dangerous.
anyone i can talk to about artificial intelligence and nns?
on an somewhat note, we should make a list of ranters willing to help newbies when theyre stuck12
Whatever happened to the startup "The grid"? The Artificial Intelligence that creates websites by deducing the layouts? Haven't heard from them in 3 years...3
You knoe, my first insights into computer programming came out of spite. I thought windows to be garbage and wanted to blame someone other than myself for my machine constantly crashing. Thus I discovered programming and down the rabbit hole. But my interest in computer science came from videogames. Portal in particular. I found the idea of GlaDOS fascinating and thought that artificial intelligence would be something interesting to research. The web then gave me Lisp, and boy was the language different from all the other languages I went through. I remember feeling super excited when Racket, Common Lisp and eventually Clojure would help me discover many different ideas. Every time I work with reduce or maps or stuff like that in other languages I always thank languages such as Clojure for having me descipher different ways of manipulating data to get a result. To this day I feel sad whenever I find that my languages do not have the same constructs that Clojure has. I mention Clojure because it is my favorite flavor of Lisp. But one thing that always remains grest to me is firing up Emacs and plugin my code to Slime or Cider and see the repl pop up waiting for something to happen. This feeling is beautiful.
Please guys, if you have not tried it, do so! You might hate it at first or push it aside. But trust me, once you get it it will really change the way you think about programming in general. Try the great Clojure for the Brave and true, and go through the third chapter succesfully. If you do not like Lisp by them then no harm done! You would at least know that there are other options.
Now, here are some cool things:
For the standard implementation, try Common Lisp
For a more modern Scheme, try Racket or Guile
For targetting the JVM try Clojure (more akin to Common Lisp) or Kawa (scheme like)
For the python AST get Hy (pun totally intended)
For JS try Clojurescript
For emacs scripting try Emacs Lisp (has way too many disasdvantages but still relatively close to common lisp)
Honorific mention to more pure functional programming languages for Haskell, F#, Ocaml.
Also worth mentioning that Js , Ruby and Python have great functional constructs.
(println "you will not regret it!")2
Don’t be evil.
“Stapleton said she was demoted and told to take medical leave, even though she wasn’t ill. Meredith Whittaker, an artificial intelligence researcher, said she was reassigned and told to stop her well-known research on AI ethics. Both women detailed their experiences in an email to coworkers in April, which was then shared with journalists at Wired and published.”
Bootcamps get you up and running in coding quickly. If you are a programmer, companies are only interested on how quickly, error free and cheaply you produce marketable output. Bootcamps enable this.
More or less you are not more than a former assembly line worker putting parts on a car platform. Your value is not very high as you may be exchanged at any time at their will.
Nevertheless, you can earn money quickly. You trade in your youth and time which might be a dead end in the long-term. Trends go to machine learning, artificial intelligence. They will not need Bootcamp people and code workers.
It is better you set up Bootcamps and sell them versus absolving this. Like selling shovels during the gold rush, but not working in the mud of Alaska by yourself.
Your choice is: Making quick money, which fades anyway; or striving for the long-term future proof career.
C/S degrees from Technical Universities of reputation give to you the right direction under a strategic consideration. Companies which pay well, or freelancing with a solid acknowledged background, will always look for top graduates. People from Bootcamps are just OK for hammering assembly line coding. Even worse with SCRUM in one noisy room under enormous team server pressure controls, counting your lines of code per minute, with pale people all around. And groups of controllers never acknowledging nor trusting your work.
To acquire a serious degree, a Bachelor is nothing. Here, in INDIA, Bachelor now is what a former high school grade was. You must carry a diploma or Masters degree combined with internships at big companies with high brand recognition. This will require 4–6 years of your lifetime. You can support this financially by working part-time freelancing as making some projects front- or back-end web, data analysis and else.
Bootcamp people will lose in the long-term. They are the modern cannon fudder of software production.
It is your choice. Personally, I would never do Bootcamps. Quality and sustainability require time, deep studies and devotion.
Shit most of the so called Artificial Intelligence bots are named after girls.
Alexa, Erica, etc....12
I was once working on a deep neural network project(few years back when deep learning was just gaining momentum) and my project guide(alloted by the college) told me that this technology is useless and will be obsolete in near future. I don't know why he said that. Till this day I think what was the reason behind him saying that.
Now watching so much research done in this field, he might be realizing how much wrong he was.
Why is everyone into big data? I like mostly all kind of technology (programming, Linux, security...) But I can't get myself to like big data /ML /AI. I get that it's usefulness is abundant, but how is it fascinating?8
Learning to tech to speed up learning.
Using a new cooperative learning technique, AI Lab researchers cut by half the time it took a pair of robot agents to learn to maneuver to opposite sides of a virtual room.
A combination of deep learning and reinforcement learning algorithms are responsible for computers achieving dominance at challenging board games like chess and Go, a growing number of video games, including Ms. Pac-Man, and some card games, including poker. But for all the progress, computers still get stuck the closer a game resembles real life, with hidden information, multiple players, continuous play, and a mix of short and long-term rewards that make computing the optimal move hopelessly complex.

Am I the only one who when hearing the term "Artificial Intelligence" thinks about why nobody tries to develop "Real Intelligence" instead?
I mean the term artificial imho points directly at the reason why those systems are actually so damn stupid6
I wonder a time will come when we as software developers will be on streets protesting to the government to ban use of Artificial Intelligence for writing software.
We are digging our own grave.

I'm really just a bunch of if/else loops that somehow do something interesting. It's just that it can't really be understood as the programs that make up "me" are being created and destroyed constantly, according to their ability to accurately represent a sentient being, without all having to be created by a genius developer by hand..
Reading. Textbooks mostly. There's nothing I love more in life than learning and there is just so much to learn.
I tend to get stuck on one particular subject at a time. At the minute it's quantum mechanics. Previously it's been philosophy (specifically the philosophy of artificial intelligence), politics and biomechanics.
You can find good books on any subject and the fact I can just spend hours combing through and learning is just mesmerising to me.2
AI has developed a lot since its inception. I think AI is the fu....ck you.
oops, it wasn't me. AI did that.3
Although it was simple
My coolest project I made was a 2 game java app(minesweeper, tic-tac-toe) it was for the java class last year
But now I am working on a sudoku game project for the artificial intelligence class and I am having hard time with it since I am obliged to use game editor to make it, since game editor doesn't help in debugging 😭😭😭😭😭
Are there any people here who are into artificial intelligence? And if so what is your experience with it?12
Did you miss this? Let me know if you're in. We are starting soon. https://www.devrant.io/rants/2733781
So exciting, I have asked if i may join a new AI project and I may if I can get approvals from 2 of my managers and one has now approved it and still awaiting approval from the other, hope and believe I get the last approval. 🤖1
Hi the community!
Do you have any recommendation to start learning about artificial intelligence?
I would like to build a bot like http://uxchat.me/ but who also need more complex action, like image recognition with OpenCV maybe.
Any book, link will be appreciated2
Walking past a conversation with people and over hearing the term CNN, thinking its about Convolution Neural Networking. Long story short. Im standing here between people discussing news resources. Fml
Artificial Intelligence vs Internet of Things vs Blockchain
Which will revolutionise the world first?2
I can promise you all this... Artificial Intelligence’ silicone valley... will not be in California, the industry will be in west Michigan... instead of the and valleys beaches of California it will be the hills and lake shores of Lake Michigan... true artificial intelligence of the movies will be “born” there. The liberal developers and hipster coders can stay out in California.. while the rest of us will be over her in Michigan. I promise you this will happen, give it 10 years9
With the advancements we've seen in technology over the past 20 or so years, how long will it be before we replace ourselves with artificial intelligence?7
So...I kinda started a huge project and it requires a pattern recognition for the users' schedules as the cherry on top.
I have no idea from where could I start learning this. I tried lots of stuff, I have basic knowledge of ai, but I need to get to the next level.
I'm torn between 2 choices here:
Either go into an Engineering school to study Software Engineering OR continue all the way to Masters Degree in Artificial Intelligence. Any advice?8
Skip to last block for actual question, everything else is about what i see and dont understand.
Machine learning and artificial intelligence is very interesting to me, ive watched a few videos but i cant manage to wrap my mind around it.
I see a few people starting out with projects that appear to be an easy start, but i of course have no idea, were they make a self-driving car in GTA (crashes alot, but still) or teach the program to complete levels in a game (snake, mario, run forrest)
I watched a few videos on Jabrils youtube channel that seemed to make alot of sense, until one point..
How does the AI know when it hit a wall?
How does it know where the walls are?
How does it measure the distance? How does it know when it has respawned?
I find it really, really confusing.
Can anyone of you geniuses suggest me anything to get into this? Id prefer if the goal was to make an AI using machine learning, that can complete some basic game, like in Jabrils videos.2
What's the difference between data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence?
#PytorchUdacityScholar Well this time I won't give up... #Second Scholarship from Udacity #MillionThanks🙏🙏🙏🙏 to Udacity India Facebook #artificialintelligence #machinelearning #deeplearning3
I'm new in deep learning world, I want to develop a project regarding live text detection on mobile camera (without taking an image by the camera), can I do it by the tesorflow object detection api ? or with anyother tensorflow api or with opencv, which way is best? other suggestions are also welcome.
There will come a day when a Tesla car will be so intelligent that it will short the Tesla stock right before crushing into a truck.3
Is there a place to find standard models open-sourced by Academia and Companies ?
Any GitHub repository?6
Sounds fascinating and a bit troubling; at least I'm pretty sure the name isn't short for Near Actual SkyNet..: https://futurism.com/google-artific...
Decided to continue my studies because I really wanted to go into Artificial Intelligence. Even though I've learnt some here and there in Machine Learning, Deep Learning and its various modules of supervised and unsupervised learning but I felt like that I'm not getting anywhere and need some proper guidance. Decided I could take a Masters in this specific field with a lecturer's guidance.
Enter my boss, I've asked for consent if its OK for me to continue my studies. He goes on and on that employees are valuable and that we're at the start of a big project currently (even though I've asked that I'm thinking of taking the next intake in September 2019) and couldn't afford to lose my time to studying A.I. Not only that, he insulted that A.I. is useless in a Fintech company. And instead he wants me to learn about blockchain tech.
Who is the choosing beggar here?
I mean OK, I get it. I've seen mature students who took on part-time studies to get diplomas and degrees and I understand the huge stress in assignments and research. I'm well aware of that and I've done self-paced studies for a long time now. I believe I can handle the pressure and time management in juggling between work, study and life through past experience and observation. How is this any different aside from doing towards a degree?
He even felt threaten that I might leave and get a better and different job after I graduate. Does he think I'm stupid to tell him about my intention if I knew that I'll be getting a better paying with more perks job than what I already have with him? I didn't want to leave my good job as there's loads of things I want to do for the company. But since his attitude towards my education pursuit shows, I think I just might. I don't know. I like the company I'm working for. Just not for him.3
Is learning artificial intelligence, deep learning, machine learning the only way to survive in this industry for the next decade or so?1
Think of an awesome sounding AI project while not knowing a thing about AI.
Tell the guy you will be working with that you will manage to keep the learning pace up (he doesn't know AI as well, woah!)
Fast forward 2 weeks - completely forget about how I wanted to do anything with AI.
Fast forward 1 week - that guy messages me that we ought to do a meeting to check how much each of us have learned and to decide on how we will tackle the project.
Somehow managed to get the deadline to be day after tomorrow.
'I am screwed...' is what I think when I skim through pages of 'Artificial Intelligence a Modern Approach'. So, I put down the book and try to find something easy to understand on youtube. I find a hyperactive looking guy that under a video titled along the lines of '5mins and you are linear gradient pro'. Not suscipious at all.
Watched video twice, managed to understand that I need calculus for this shit. Oh well.
AI seems so much fun until you understand that it requires a fuckload of knowledge to do anything at all! :'(
Going to try to analyse linear gradient until tomorrow and hope that it will be sufficient for our project.
Lol. Who am I kidding?
When you are a major Ironman fan, partially learning how to program because you were inspired by the suit & JARVIS. Only to see that JARVIS was made in an year & begin to wonder "What have I been doing my entire life?!". Now I need to find a new goal to work towards. 😐 😶3
How do you think AI would affect our jobs in the far future? Would it really put us developers out of work?
I am keenly interested in topics like these.
Please share your thoughts or links to such discussions online.
I'd like to think that it would bring about some positive changes, at least in the short term. Something that would radically transform the way we work.
Do you think it is possible for us to have like a unified framework which is processed by some sort of AI. Every developer would only need to communicate to the AI what needs to get done by use of algorithms.
Or is that a terrible idea?1
Interesting NY Times article today Saturday March 26 2016 by Markoff and Lohr, "A Race to Take Control of Artificial Intelligence And the Future of Tech". Lots of C levels will read this article and ask CIO if AI on radar. Will fan the fire. Also a lot of VC action. Google TensorFlow open source. Microsoft also all in and of course IBM Watson. Google beat Go grandmaster 4-1, which is tougher than chess program. Something to keep on your radar. Have fun!
I came across this logical bug today and realised that you never train your Neural Network with data that is in order. Always train it with randomized inputs. I spent like 4 hours trying to figure why my neural net wouldn't work since all I was classifying was Iris data.
P.S.: I'm an ML newbie :P
Is anyone else interested in the Characteristica Universali. It's very fascinating and not enough people know about how it can be applied to non neural network artificial intelligence.
I'm new in Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning and I want to design an intelligent bot what steps I have to use. For example intelligent os in her movie... 😊 😊 😊
Once upon a time there was a dishonest fox and a vain crow. One day the crow was sitting in his tree, holding a piece of cheese in his mouth. He noticed that he was holding the piece of cheese. He became hungry and swallowed the cheese. The fox walked over to the crow. The end.3
tfw ((((((((((((((writing and presenting a thesis about Artificial Intelligence made me want to learn Lisp but then I remembered a friend wanting to kill himself everytime he tried to write something in Lisp))))))))))))))
What is the best searching algorithm for big data technologies like Machine learning and Neural networks?
This story (link below) is very...interesting. I must say it has to be the best read I all year actually... This was a real life thing that happened. AI is included in this story and so is the loss of a loved one. I am sorry to the friends and family that lost this great man but he shall live on forever in a new physical form.
