Call comes down from the CEO and through his "Yes Man" that some investors are coming by to visit and he want to show off the data center and test servers. There are four full racks of storage servers filled with HDDs and each server has 4 to 16 HDDs a piece.
I got told to "make all of the lights blink", which can be epic seeing it in action but my test cycles rarely aligned that way.

All morning I was striping RAID arrays and building short mixed I/O tests to maximize "LED blinking" for the boss's henchman.

Investors apparently live/die by blinking light progress and it was all on me to get everything working.

We recently took over development of an app. Upon inspection the API had no security, and passwords were stored in plain text. While the manager was slightly concerned, it wasn't a big deal....

That was until, using only a browser, I found the bosses account and personal email address.

Minutes later I was in his gmail, Facebook and credit cards account.

Improving security is now concern #1, and my boss is "suffering" 2 factor authy on everything.

What's wrong with WannaCry? All it does is secure you're system by encrypting your files for you.

Why do people (Some devs too...) bloody hell think that devs have Hard time fixing the Semi Colon issue, we have a lot of other issues to figure out, like the Structure of Data, Code Fragmentation, API Creation, Invalid Data Handling, Injection Prevention. But no, since we are developers, we are having sleepless nights because of one fucking semicolon? FUCKING NO, it hardly takes 30 seconds to figure out that there is a missing semi-colon. Really People, stop the ; thing!

I regret my last year's purchase of macbook air. I could've easily purchased a powerful laptop with atleast 16 GB RAM and high end Graphics.... Instead i choose to go with this piece of shit for a change.. :/

I find it quite difficult to focus, the constant chatting, the constant questions, phone ringing, surprise meeting, more question, arrays of interruptions and questions again. I believe I would be a lot more productive if left alone in the total, undiscontinued silence.

Changing a lot of code at once without testing

Working on my Lenovo x1 carbon. Akku warning "less then 6%" appears. No problem, I will connect the cable just after I finished this function... "Will shutdown in a view moments" message appears. Ok, I connect the cable. Nothing happens. Maybe power adapter is broken or something more worst. Panic. Try to commit and push as fast as I can (around 2000 LOC from today, made big changes on my project today). While pushing to github laptop powers off. Fuck. Check github on smartphone to see if commits had been pushed. No. I do not have a power adapter for replacement. FML.

I really hate api response variable names like this. I mean why type "targetitemid" when "target_item_id" is so much more readable?

So i work at this small robotics start-up company I Copenhagen.
The first dumb part is that it only uses interns as staff, because then they don't need to pay people. (I am working part time, for free. Just to get experience (I am only 20 btw))

So.. I often get into an argument with my boss, since she is a designer with a "passion" for robotics (she has no clue how to do anything related to the work) But I often try to explain to her some current limitations in the staff, and what is possible for us to do, but she will never listen. She really wants us to design our own microcontroller board PCB, and she want it at the size of a coin. However when I tell her that none of the, non paid works has the experience or education to design such a thing, she never wants to acknowledge it, and it really pisses me off.
And her dad, who is the top boss, only care for esthetics when he is making a work environment, which is dumb when we just need to develop stuff...

Sorry if the rant was too long but had to get it out..

It was my Java teacher's last semester before he bailed to a different school.

All the machines had different versions of needed software or just didn't have them at all. He would try to teach like we all had it and we should just take notes because installing would take too long.

He would rapid fire different technologies and then drop them lie flies, so we learned nothing about any of them.

At the end of the semester, almost nothing had been graded (my roommate never even knew his final grade, last he saw it was a '*')
He assigned the final exam project on Thursday afternoon of the last week of school, and it required every technology he thought he used in the course.

I came out with a D, somehow, couldn't ask why because he left already. A lot of people had D's or worse, but it was what they needed in order to move on or graduate or whatever so there wasn't enough of a group to get it corrected by student affairs.

Fun times.

Made the mistake of restarting my pc at work this morning. Came up with configuring Windows, do not turn off.

30 minutes later, same message showing.

Despite message saying don't turn off, i had had enough and turned it off, think it would be completely broken.

Booted fine, no issues?!?! Thanks Microsoft.
