When we finally get to Mars, all programmers on Earth will scream in pain over having to program another timezone13

I think I’m a bit unusual in that my favorite place to code is on the couch, just using my laptop. During the work day I use two monitors, but I find it more comfortable to just use a lap desk and laptop when I get home/on weekends. I’m not sure if it’s from laziness or whatever, but it seems to work.7

First time having 2 monitors and actual full size desk inside my own apartment. Very liberating and I should take advantage... nothing beats the privacy of your home where you can think uninterrupted!4
-
During a heat wave, the basement is the place to be when you don't have air conditionning.
I got to code in a huge basement (formerly a dance room) with lots of couchs, and a nearby Wifi repeater.
And since it's the basement with no elevator, no one disturb me.7 -
At home, on standing desk made mostly out of cardboard and hope, with 5 month old daughter asleep and attached to me with a sling1

This is my favourite place to code
Great vibe
plenty of light and most important thing
i can through myself from the window if i get frustrated4 -
At the office at 7am when no one is around. It's huge, open, and empty, with that classic morning peace-and-quiet vibe. Lasts about 2 hours
-
There's a café right next to the water and I can see boats arriving and leaving in the harbour. This peacefulness, but also that I can hear the mild voices in the background is what does it for me and my focussing. Sometimes I also go there with friends, as it's always nice to have live debugging ducks :D1

Favorite place to code include:
+ Bed (laying down)
+ Bed (sit up with pillow fort)
+ Bathroom (with laptop wrapped in plastic food wraping in bath)
+ Bathroom (on toilet) -
My room in my apartment: Gaming desktop PC, big monitor, privacy... cuz uhh.... I sometimes code NSFW apps like these past few days.4
-
So, it's not my job, but I needed to add some new gsuite groups for our client. That's completely fine, so they sent me their logins. I logged in and, in five minutes, I was kicked out. Because they got an email saying that someone logged in to his account. I still cannot believe what just happened.

After office time. That time really works. Learn from online courses. And apply it. No one will be there. Silence!1
-
Anywhere quiet. And 18C<X<25C.
On my sofa, on my bed, in a car, at the office, in a lobby, ... You name it6 -
Best place to code: Home! In my bed !
Why ? : Simple ! I can take a quick nap when i am tired and wake up with the solution !6 -
A good room with a good connection and good table and chair and good bed. And no other person.
Sadly I don't own it yet.2 -
Actually, the office. Because it's a space exclusively for working.
I did home office for quite a while and still do so from time to time but i get distracted and/or lazy too easily to really get something done at home.
In the office, I have to be focused and so I am for 8+ hrs.
Unpopular opinion: 9to5 is great.1 -
My favorite place to work is my University. It has a really nice Library and it's really quiet
I feel relaxed when I'm coding there except when is the ending of the semester jaja those days the library is full and rarely you can find a place to stay -
It has to be on my T430,VIM, with good music after smoking a Spliff, sitting in a nice leather couch.1
-
From my command center at home like all self-respecting super villians. The League of Evil wants me to join their open space! Isn't that ridiculous? How can we conquer the world while we have to listen to Becky's personal calls???1
-
Place to code:
Wherever I get place to make a V shaped stand for my lappy with my legs and stomach.6 -
The Office at about 7am when no one else has come in yet because it's peaceful.
Definitely my most productive hours so far. -
My in-house "office". A normal room, but with 2 desks. One for my monitors + laptop and the other one for other electronic stuff. It's a very quiet room :)
-
University labs. I’ve been lucky enough to have 2 brand new computing labs constructed during my time here. Ultra wide QHD USB-C monitors 😍
-
Probably my room is where I’m most comfy programming because it’s the place I’m most comfortable in general.
I have a weird unhealthy attachment to my room. When I have to leave to go to a friends and some family’s over night or sumn I am really uncomfortable the entire time until I get back.
I know I’m literally playing into the stereotypical nerd, but what you don’t understand is I am the stereotypical nerd.
You could easily say I just get a really bad case of Home Sickness and I guess that is the case but idk why it’s as bad as it is.
And the honorable mention for programming spots was when I was in high school at my big desk I had for 2 years straight. Damn I loved that spot3 -
I personally like to sit with my laptop on my bed when I code. I just lean my pillows up against the wall and lay into them. It's just a comfortable spot and I like it. I've never cared much for sitting in a chair at a desk, which is also why I have my desk right next to my bed! (I've been told my setup is very unusual.)6

At home, by night. Best combination ever, nights have some special connection with coding. Dunno what is it but it's deep.1
-
In my office, from 9 to 17... Actually no, cause my boring office mate banned my brand new mechanical keyboard.5
-
NO Place is my favorite place to code.
Almost all my life I feel that no place actually feet my preferences.. But here I go and live everyday waiting it's end.. -
While I read your posts I realize that I need to improve my workplace at home. About the question: For me the best place to code is my home because I live alone2
-
In the winter I move my desk in front of a heating unit, rest my feet on it and put a huge bowl of cereal by my side. Sometimes I fall asleep, but when I don't, I have my best ideas in this position.
-
favorite
- big living room, well lighted, with view, better if in a foreign country and unknown city.
Why? well, I work fast so I can go out and explore.
most productive for coding and concentration
- airplane
Why? well, nobody can fucking call me nor write me emails + nothing else to do
Worst place
- the office
Why? wtf -
Wherever make it easier for me to enter the zone. Sometimes a loud coffee shop will do when I felt like it. Sometimes at home when everything is so quiet. It depends.
-
In a quiet, closed space unhindered by distractions.
For me (and I'd imagine, many others here), constant conversations in the background, people walking by, etc absolutely kill my focus and keep me from getting work done. Working from home helps a bit, but my neighbors provide plenty of their own distractions.
Honestly, I'll take a broom closet with a laptop, headphones and an Ethernet jack over any other open office design. -
I actually prefer doing my code when it is sunny out. Guess it just gives me the feeling of there being a whole day to learn and develop code. I would prefer doing it at a library/coffee shop/school because I like being around people.

My office at the weekend, it’s quiet so no one annoys me, setup is good and my main side project at the moment involves a modification I want to proof of concept (to try and get funding to do it properly) to our main product so all my resources are there
