*Me using dark theme on everything*
Me: Hey, look at this, I finished that thing that you wanted me to do.
*Project partner looks at my screen*
Partner: Ugh, why do you use that dark theme? It really strains my eyes.
Me: :-|
That is one of the reasons I use dark themes15 -
Since I already got all the stuff working for the devrant client on Arduino, why not port it in other platforms ?
So here it is DevRant 3DS client18 -
I instinctively press Ctrl+S everywhere I write text, even in chat like Slack or Skype. Do I need help? :/14

I just walked passed 2 technologically impaired ladies in my office (the kind who think google is on their actual computer) having an avid discussion about how "You can find Ajax everywhere on so many websites!".
I was super impressed until I realised they were talking about buying dish soap :/12 -
Anyone ever had the opposite of "It works on my machine"? (Works everywhere else, just not on my machine)16

The ability to smack people everywhere around the world the second they think of creating another JS library2

Since every piece of software is developed by us, I sincerely request everyone to keep dark themes as the default theme.
Thanks.8 -
After 3 hours of trying to implement a feature, I’ve moved from 10 errors to 7 errors!
At least I’m doing some progress, I guess... 🤷♂️6 -
Perhaps if companies were driven not by greed, but by quality and improving the respective field they are in, perhaps the world would be a better place... But what do I know...7
-
Glass door: now almost completely fucking useless.
Glassdoor now requires you to login to even read the site. You log in and then AFTEr logging it, it informs you that you have to contribute an "anonymous review" to read the others.
Completely fucking useless and defeat the one reason it originally existed for: to help people review a company *before* applying.
Good job you morons at glassdoor, you had one job.
Of the following names, at least one of them is likely certifiably retarded (or has options against the company stock):
Christian Sutherland Wong (ceo)
Anthony Moisant (cio, senior vp)
Kate Ahlering (chief sales)
Owen Humphries (senior vp)
Annie Pearl (chief product officer)6 -
Let's comment out this block of code so later we know we have this feature and bring it back if we need it.
Later: commented code everywhere, literally everywhere!!! Shit7 -
I... can't... fucking... stop... adding... new... features... to my... personal... projects... Help.9

Going to a webpage and after 5 seconds being "welcomed" by the typical "Are you leaving?" popup.

Visual thinker: someone who can take textual information and visualise to think critically.
A dumb retard in my team: "I want Floyd to feed me visual graphics so that I can think and understand because I am a visual thinker and I cannot understand text documents"8 -

Sincerely,

Literally tabs vs. spaces. The joke is everywhere, and the people taking stances have clearly never used find+replace.8

Why do some people have to be so self-centered?
They asked for my help with a logo. I said I will help even without any charges. I know they don't want to spend money. And that's why I frankly said I can help free. But then they said they will feel bad then and ask for my quotation. Ok, I sent.
They said "Sorry it is too high, can you give 60% discount?" Ok, sure.
Then they asked if they can get it in 4 days. Ok, I said.
Then they said they changed the name just now.
At least give me a fucking ounce of respect.2 -
So I was watching this movie "The Foreigner" and suddenly I noticed this scene. "Preparing Automatic Repair" 😂 Leave Real World, It Can't Even Function Properly In Reel World.
-
I'm on this fair and there are suits walking almost everywhere!
Even in the "Tech" area.
Like 'a-bit-to-confident' ducks with their heads up in the cloud exposing their throat while walking right into my sharp blade. Inexorable stumbling headless right over the edge of the next bridge, hitting the rails with their rubies. Helpless, waiting to get caught by the next hype-train.
*sigh*rant two-face everywhere masquerade walking talking farting ducks ducks everywhere they won't help me debug my shit17 -
Missing those days when videos about latest technology had a meaningful comment section. Now it's 'pewdiepie vs tseries' everywhere.4

really gets my goat when people try to shoehorn a trendy framework into something unnecessarily. reactjs.... everywhere1
-
Reviewing some code the other day, seeing a lot classes like:
SimpleThis
CoreThat
BaseSomething
I get the idea..Microsoft is doing it...disguising complexity with clever adjectives.
I think in my next project I'm going to start naming things like
SpaghettiMonster
GodClass
Repository (cause, every framework needs one)
Then in a year and a half-dozen other devs adding their bits, someone asks "SpaghettiMonster...WTF?...why is this data access called..<dev looks at code> Oh good Lord ...oh well...at least the class name is accurate"2 -
I spend so much time debugging because the previous developer has empty catch blocks everywhere in the code base.
-
I don't think it's a coincidence that my internet disconnects for a few seconds when i click link to porn sites.
Happy everytime time :/10 -
"Our side is certified, yours is not" ... they yelled from their ivory tower.
Then why does your side send unreasonable responses after a few dozen identical requests and doesn't respond at all shortly after?
Maybe because the certification tests only cover 10-15 requests consecutively?
Certify my ass... -
Woo! I've finally bought https://skayo.dev !
Now I have to change the domain everywhere its used..... oof.3 -
Hidden requirements. Hidden requirements EVERYWHERE.
So much for a hobby project for my student association2 -

Well, this is certainly not encouraging. Get ready for LOTS of ads in Chrome and decreased performance.

Reading Python code written by Java programmers. I have no words to describe the horror. CamelCase everywhere...undefined fuck java why are there so many files have you ever heard of mixins? why do you write java in python who told you to put everything inside classes2
-
One thing my dev years have showed me through various systems:
The world is held together by masses of scripts. And most of them are horribly bad, unmaintainable, extremely complex and usually not replaced on requirement changes, but extended by other terrible scripts to get the desired behaviour.
Windows is based on tons of shitty batch scripts, powershell madness, WSH bullshit and VBS absurdity.
GNU/Linux is build upon trillions of incomprehensible shell scripts, heaps of python gizmo and perl mysteries.
Every complex system I've seen uses batch or shell scripts to fire up its runtime.
And it doesn't seem to get any better, so let's face it, we're doomed.3 -
>open project
>add some prints to debug a small thing
>algorithm gets completely fucked up, replacing data everywhere

every day I see full stack here and there...
full stack is not only db and code, but also "every step the bit goes through " from end user's screen/input to server and back to him
whether is an app or service, end user is only an example.
it's about knowing how the language behaves, how the server interprets and replies to requests, protocols, even how to do every single configuration on the systems you are using, and in my point of view that includes hardware.
pretty much that...
I get sic when I see on a resume claiming "I'm a full stack dev" and there's nothing on it saying that the guy knows at least to change a light bulb... lol
Even worse, when I see job offers asking for "Full stack Dev, with no experience" ...
that's not possible without experience ! sorry9 -
Love the docs that provide lots of segment examples everywhere, but no full examples. No source code. Very helpful2

Copy and paste everywhere is not an acceptable software development methodology. It's a sign that something's very wrong.2

Yes but you see this function everywhere so why is it so hard for us to implement?
Next time i’m gonna say that this function is everywhere, but why is it so difficult to design?
