This seems to be odd bug, not impacting windows itself but some things like python. Can you check this code on your Win:
if %PATHEXT:~-1% == ";" (echo Bugged) else (echo Seems fine)
What it prints ?5 -
Some time ago, I asked DevRanters if you would use US or UK version of word.
Most of you said, whatever.
I just found case for using both :D7 -
What do you think about different English variants in code/docs ?
How you would name variable in UK company?
color ?
colour ?
Why ?14 -
Week ago, leader of the artifacts/packages storage and mirroring with animal in Logo, fucked up our testing enabling new feature on theirs SaaS.
We created a ticket, they managed to fix that, although it took them long time to do so, probably due to timezones as fix was simple click on their Admin area.
Today they forwarded us email that there will be some changes that can impact prod ...
Great timing, great .. -
Java and Groovy are like these two daughters, one going to church every Sunday and one listening to Slipknot.
I would not show our JobDsl codebase to any Java developer, (s)he would cry a lot. -
SRE as Site Reliability Engineering was invited by Google in US.
SRE was also Sex and Relationships Education in UK.Until around 2017 when it was changed to RSE
Watching Sex Education on Netflix could be great source of funny memes for my workplace. Especially that my company is UK based :D1 -
I hate this type of Developer who always asks to add everything as requirement for every single detail. Company is paying you for thinking, or at least asking BA, not only coding requirements in Java/C#/whatever and denying fixes because it was not in requirements.3

So apparently, all IT staff of #ryanair is banned from remote work. Some of them are in Madrid, Spain. I heard a lot about their workplace and how "employee friendly" ther are. But to make "equality" excuse for staying in office cause pilots cant work from home...1

We've got new TV for monitoring, which auto-rotating meme page you like ? Cats, dogs, dank (sfw), dev, testing. Gimme yours !!! :)1

To all "StackOverflow is BAD" ranters - give link or don't post. And even before, please read
http://rtfm.cz/smart-questions.html...
Facebook/Instagram era taught people that it's easier to just ask question gazzylion of times before doing research / using search (even "site:stackoverflow.com" search)
I do rarely post on SO just because in 99% of cases I find solution when preparing my question during research or due to yellow duck effect.
When I got qualified to do reviews on questions I started to see how often they are so abroad or so primitive than 10min of duckduckgoing would solve it. But no, it's easier to use other people for you.5 -
Stop recommending arch
Start recommending arch wiki
These nerds spend so much stuff in their system that every weird shit and behaviour is there6 -
I made 60 lines of modern, clean, multi threaded, optimized python3 code to deliver data from GIT to IBM ClearCase, on old Windows VM, hundreds of files (CC is file-based version control, every file has it's own change)
This calls for sauna today to definitely get rid of this dirt :)
And they said devops is all around docker nowadays :)2 -
Have you noticed that mac users rarely use full screen mode? Its so hard to use that they just leave half sized windows, its so annoying when I have to ask every time if they can make it bigger17

Ok, I didn't know that Wireshark on Windows can fuck-up your network routing :D Try to send anything to 255.255.255.255 broadcast and see that nothing happens, yay :D

Thanks to mandatory password change, today:
- My windows account got locked because my phone kept logging into wifi using
old password.
- Google Hangouts were silently running in background with old session until I re-opened it. Work of others delayed by 4 hours due to missing message notifications.
- Docker for Windows lost credentials needed to use SMB mounts - 1h of debugging why my containers mount empty folders ( now I will know)
- Google G-Sync for Outlook asked for new password on outlook restart - few mails delayed.
All of that for sake of security that could be easily solved with 2FA instead, not faking that "I do not change number at the end of my password" -
PM: Can we setup this new server today ?
Me: Sure, where is the ESXi setup CD ?
PM: ehh, wasn't in the box ?
Me: nah
So Finance team can't ctrl+c, ctrl+v from what we send them and actually buy stuff we need :D1 -
After waiting weeks and weeks for my account to be deleted (they asked for email to support for that, altough egistration takes 5s) I finally asked last time, this time using magical word "GDPR"
Got my account and data deleted under an hour and now their account settings page have delete account button. Even if it's this fake one which only changes email/id to prefixed one, still it was worth it.8 -
Quick FAQ for Wroclaw (Wroclove :D) for collaborators from around the world
Poland is in Central Europe, not Eastern (we use Central European Standard Time even). This because Russia is also partially in Europe (not European Union though).
Breslau is Pre-WW2 name for current Wroclaw in Lower Silesia. Don't use it here as it immediately brings bad emotions into the talk and it is not what you want :) Leave nazis in the past.17 -
Fuck ubuntu 18.04 with their snap format. Yes it's good for things that ubuntu users need, like libreoffice or Chrome.
But GOD SAKE WHY DOCKER ?
21 days ago it was not even possible to modify daemon.json reliably xD4 -
Nice way to start devops work today:
(from ticket comments, seems someone did not minitor disk space usage :D) -
People who claims "XXX is slow" should put screenshots of:
- CPU/MEM stats
- Task bar in full, to see how much crap is in background
- Desktop, to see how clean your computer is
If you don't have i7/16GB or you install gazillion of background apps, then your "slow" argument is simply not valid.22 -
"You can Download Sublime Merge, and try it for yourself - there's no time limit, no accounts, no metrics, and no tracking. The evaluation version is fully functional, but is restricted to the ***light theme only.***"
In your butt light theme haters ;)4
