(important details for this 'rant': people often put their tv on/in a piece of furniture that we (dutchies) often call a 'kast' (tv kast(je)) which translates to closet)
*at a birthday party, mate plugs a Chromecast into the tv and lays it in the tv 'closet'.
Me: that's definitely a Chromekast now!
Everyone: 😑
😅5 -
I would love to see a “How It’s Made”-style TV show about software projects. With the narrator and everything.4

Moved out a few months ago. Love my setup. Dual monitor at desk and a big ass TV + laptop for when I want the couch. Coffee to top it off.20

You know what would be a great project? A reality TV show, like "Hell's Kitchen" or "Bar Rescue", but instead we come to companies and help their development teams. 😛9

Lol, only two years ago I saw a new TV show in which a developer is waiting for his code to compile. Apparently not everyone is ahead of the curve!4

Storytime
A story about an Android TVbox which decided to become an iPad
Several years ago we've bought an android tv-box.
It served me and my family well for several years.
Specs are not that important in this story, but there they are:
Android 4.4
1GB RAM
Amlogic quadcore 1.4HGz
8GB memory.
This device served us well - online TV, browsing, music, file sharing and so on. But recently cheap Chinese memory deciteed to take a break and damaged ROM. Because of that device won't boot. The only option was to take it apart and "short circuit" certain legs on memory chip and make it boot from SD card and install new firmware. After such operations tv-box worked well again.
Hoverer, memory glitched again and again and this algorithm was repeated for several months.
But that is not what is this story about.
One day memory went completely crazy and there was no way to install new firmware on it. It just hanged on install. (BTW, it was official firmware for this device)
But after countless attempts it finally worked! It installed the firmware and booted into launcher and connected to WiFi!
But now comes the most interesting part.
It was not android anymore.
It decided to became an iPad.
My dad logged in to his Google account via tv-box and got mail that someboby connected from our IP via iPad (we don't have an iPad) and using safari browser! Stock browser is not safari browser.....
"Ok, nvm, crazy glitch." - we thought.
But preinstalled play marked wont launch. Because he told us, that we're trying to connect from iPad.
And Google chrome page suggested to download chrome for iPad
And everything was acting like it is an iPad.
OK, downloaded iTunes, why not??? ._.
Tried to install elixir for android via apk from flash, but then memory glitched one more time, everything went black and tv-box had damaged ROM again...
After that we decided to not torment it anymore...
That's it. Poor Android TVbox that all his life dreamed to become an iPad. Rest in peace.2 -
Back the mid 90s at secondary school, a friend came back from holiday with a Casio CMD-40 TV remote control watch. It was like magic, no one had never seen anything like it before.
We pranked our history teacher so badly, changing the channels, volume and turning the TV off while we were supposed to be watching some video on Henry VIII or something (no idea, too busy PMSL).
We'd pass the watch round the class to keep em guessing.
In the end, school replaced ALL the TVs and were seriously pissed off, to this day I believe they had no idea it was us!4 -
I stayed at a hotel called "Crowne Royal Plaza" for a work event in Denver. The TV in the room was a nice new '50 Samsung. Much to my dismay I discovered they had disabled the ability to change the input to HDMI. I called the front desk to compain and the pesent who answered the phone had the nerve to tell me that feature had been disabled because it was "illegal". I laughed histarically and explained the reason was actually to try and force customers to buy shitty pay-per-view content, to which he replied, "Probably".
We must put an end to such blantant disregard for hardware and software freedom. This is beyond uneccaptable. I am completely and utterly disgusted by such slimy business practices.
To the management of the Crowne Royal Plaza, from the bottom of my heart, fuck you and burn in the deapest, darkest part of hell, you scum sucking dick fucks!5 -
My PlayStation 1 has never needed an update, but these days, everything comes with an updater. Like, "oh, boy, my TV needs to update again". There's something wrong.26

My 2018 wish:
I wish Amazon and Google would end their childish fight so that i can finally stream Amazon Prime to my TV using Chromecast.3 -
If they record this job interview as a TV show, it could be the next big hit in Dubai, called “Dubai got talents” 🤔29

In Germany we have some TV channels that everyone has to pay 17€ a month for even if he does not own a TV, since it's supposed to be free press. Well guess what they still post ads and every journalist's story get's filtered through 5 comittees. This whole thing is so anti open source, anti freedom, corrupt and stupid. No wonder more than 4 Million just don't pay this shit.20

I’m the embodiment of lazy...
I had turned on the TV in the living room earlier and put on sesame st. for my daughter to watch.
Some time passes, I’m trying to work in the back bedroom, have daughter in my arms and she’s falling asleep. I forgot to turn off the TV in the front room.
Didn’t want to get up from my desk so I just wrote up a powershell script to connect to the computer plugged into the TV and kill chrome. (The Computer sleeps after 10 minutes, and the TV shuts off after 10 more minutes of no display signal).
Script was successful as I heard Elmo laughing, then suddenly all was quiet 🤫7 -
Just got a new TV, 4K... it’s one of those smart ones, by Samsung.
Anyone want to explain what the fuck “McAfee Security for TV” is, and why the fuck it is necessary!?
What kind, of absolute waster madman goes “I know what I’ma do today, write a virus for a tv”!?
Take that shit elsewhere McAfee.
Now accepting any links to known Smart TV 0-days and attacks...
And I had to sign in to 5 different fucking accounts to get to the fucking tv.
The world is broke as fuck. Roll on the apocalypse.30 -
For those who have seen "Mr Robot" (if not just GO), we agree, terminals contents are just amazing 😮
Best TV show of all time ♥️13 -
My girlfriend has no idea what I do at work, but apparently she thinks I'm the best "computer guy" ever when I can plug in a Chromecast to her TV2

New Equipment 🤗🤗🤗♥️
I mean, thats a fucking UltraWide Display -- and it seems to be small beneath the tv 😂😂17 -
WTF!? Why? Just.... why? I'm in Incognito mode as well!
EDIT: Ok, it turns out it's a TV show. Never mind...6 -
There's this TV show called Startup. The protagonist "hacker" tells a guy to go learn JavaScript. And then they show him learning Java. If noobs make this mistake, I get it. But a TV show that's featuring a "hacker" who can create crypto currency and dark web sites? WTF?6

Me: purchases Amazon Fire stick TV
Amazon: thank you for your purchase, we recommend buying a Fire stick TV Lite.
Me: so, you want me to buy the cheaper model of the item I just bought?
Amazon: hell yea, it'll go nicely with your current Fire Stick TV and offer even less functionality,5 -
My brother is just like f*cked up program:
Fortnite > Movies > TV Series > Fortnite > Movies > TV Series > F...
Yes, infinite loop and memory leak at its' best.8 -
Thought Amazon servers went bonkers seeing these names. Later realized these are episode names for TV series, Mr Robot.

How I feel when my family says "Sure you can fix the TV! if you can make a video game, this shouldn't be a problem."1

Why the FUCK is there an American style plug on the backside of our TV?!? AND I'M IN FUCKING SWEDEN28

Got my new apartment and now need it hooked up.
So my dad (an experience developer) messages me and says the new apartment uses Verizon FiOS, $80 a month for TV + Gigabit internet
Well I checked the site and I see there's another plan: internet only at 50mbps... for $40
So I'm like "are you stupid?"
I don't need TV. If I really want, I'll just stream TV using THEIR login
And I don't need transfer speeds of 125 MB/s.... I ain't an online PVP gaming monkey
4MB/s is good enough...35 -
Sometimes I want to slap myself.
I’ve been making progress with my voice activated TV remote project - coz you got to use a Google Home and a Raspberry pi for something right? Right??
Anyway, when the API you have written suddenly stops working and you’ve spent hours trying to solve it, it is really soul crushing when you realise you’re using a class variable incorrectly
I’ll just go cry now, while I control my tv 😥😎
Class TVAPI{
Private $tvIP = “192.xxx”;
Private $args = $this->decodeArgs($_GET);
Function of tvVolume(){
exec(“python tvRemote.py {$tvIP} {$this->args}”);
}
}2 -
Coolest thing I’ve built solo?
Damn, there’s been a lot of things over the years, but I guess the most used one I’ve made would be my voice activated tv remote - yes it’s real.
So in essence it’s a google home... yea I know spyware and all, but look it was free so I’m going to make use of it... err where was I, oh yea.
An IFTTT account which taps into the google assistant API and creates a webhook, although the authentication side of things is 0 to none, so had to put a api-key into the requests to at least have some layer of auth.
This webhook then hits a raspberry pi containing a PHP API to accept and authenticate the request in, digest this into KEY commands for the TV, and drops this into a Python script to connect to the TV over a web socket connection ( I found python more stable for this ) and sends the pre made key requests, it can even do multiple keys at a time... that was a pain.
So after all that, the end game becomes about a second from saying “hey google, change the tv channel to xxx”
This sick and twisted contraption is finished and the tv is my little bitch.
This has been built out to handle channels by name, number, volume up/down, sources switching to hdmi, tv, vga and a bunch of other things.
The things we do when we can’t find a tv remote for days....
Next up, getting it to launch Netflix app and going to a specified show / episode.. but may be to adventurous. -
While most people want the force to get stuff like a TV remote, I want to use it to get people thinking how they can solve their problems independently4
-
I hate those movies/tv series in programmer just tap on some keys and says it's done. this makes programming/coding looks so easy.
FUCK YOU MAN ITS NOT EASYYYY4 -
Anyone else's blood boil when TV shows abuse tech terminology? Like the 'hacker' saying "connecting the virtual TCP to the neural net."14
-
The Penguin's den 😅
(that is after cleaning up BTW)
Monitors are a full HD TV and a 12 years old 5:4 for legacy stuff.5 -
Am I the only one who can't take the IT nonsense in TV SERIES (especially crime series) anymore? ANY UI shown on an arbitrary screen looks like garbage! And in addition to the f*cked up screen designs, every damn action of course makes weird beep noises, which would be totally annoying after like 3 secs IRL. How the heck are we supposed to take such BS seriously? This totally destroys so many TV series for me!
(Also, I have to explain to my wife why I'm laughing all the time! :p)8 -
All employee meeting, tv has no volume.
Guess who gets passed the remote to figure out why there is no sound...1 -
Just started the TV show "sillicon valley", it's pretty good and funny, if you want something to watch about programmers that launch their startup13

Just watching NCIS.
Abby: I just checked the j and the f key for fingerprints, because you lay your fingers there, when you think about what to do.
Me: Bitch, I'm a gamer, I lay my fingers on LShift,A,W,D,Space.4 -
That moment when a new client asks for help with their iPad and you ask them what model it is. "It's an Insignia brand iPad," they say proudly.
Let that sink in. It's a few layers.
Then they want you to set up 2 laptops, a TV and this unknown tablet so that they can talk to each other, with an as-on-tv fake diamond ring as payment.
Let that sink in.
If you want me, I'll be hiding under the couch.2 -
When tv series/movies have "coding scenes" and they do impossible things within seconds. (I'm watching last season of the 100... My god...)12
-
So I want to watch Olympics events on TV but apparently need a premium cable channel not in my package (NBC-SN).
BUT I can use my cable login to stream it online and in the NBC Sports app
AND the app supports Chromecast internally
In the end I still get to watch on my TV but... Why all this trouble....4 -

"… people in the newspaper industry saw the web as a newspaper. People in TV saw the web as TV, and people in book publishing saw it as a weird kind of potential book. But the web is not just some kind of magic all-absorbing meta-medium. It’s its own thing." - Paul Ford

I just realized a Samsung, Google, Apple smartphone now costs more than a 55in UltraHD 4K smart TV....9

Why THE FUCK is screen mirroring without being in the same wifi network a thing?
Why THE FUCK have all these smart tvs turned this on by default?
Why THE FUCK does the list of found devices SORT itself RANDOMLY if another device is found.
I probably mirrored my phone screen to a random tv in the neighbourhood because as soon as my finger was about to touch the name of my tv, a random tv swooshed into it's place.
WHAT THE FUCK THERE IS NO FUCKING NEED FOR THIS FEATURE IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY ACCESS POINT AROUND, THERE WILL BE ONE IN 99% OF ALL POSSIBLE USE CASES.
I mean if I got it right, i can share porn with my neighbors now, or at least annoy them?8 -
Have IR in your smartphone? You must try this.
Go to the nearest bar or a place where there is a TV show/match going on. Turn the TV off and run :D. (Order pasta run fasta)8 -
Watching a piece (a Belgian TV series) about hackers
- Police IT dpt takes a burned down computer (literally burned down -- black from the smoke), plug it into the mains and remove a graphics card. To collect evidence from.
- A policeman from IT dpt is browsing some company's website (while at the police station), looking at their clients. Address bar says: 127.0.0.1.
- The police hacker is browsing some forum. She got the post author's IP and MAC addresses from that forum post metainfo.

My setup at work and at home. I'm using Ubuntu on both.
I hardly use my desk at Home. Most of the time I'm using the notebook while I'm watching TV.3 -
So my school's wifi doesn't support my TV or something, all I know is the wifi doesn't appear as a potential connection for the TV. (Even then, when I plugged the TV into the Ethernet cable, it still gave me an error message.) Well I figured out a loophole Saturday night.
I plug the Ethernet cable into my laptop. Then activate the hotspot on my laptop. Connect to the TV through the laptop's connection. Problem solved.
Loopholes are one of the best parts of life.1 -

can you guys suggest me good TV/Anime series with few seasons or episodes so I can use my Sunday. Not in a mood for work.37 -
Is it just me or has german tv become more and more ad-ridden? A few years ago it was considered a dick move to play a single ad during an episode.
Now some channels continue the tv program but make it smaller so they can show an ad on the sides. And whenever i switch to the most popular channels i get an overlay that is basically an ad too.
I switched to livestreams and web-based tv for a reason, and that's because tv ads get more intrusive with every year. And don't get me started on the bullshit that smart tv's do nowadays, by that i mean sending data home.
I can't wait for tv to die out or to be replaced by an ip-based protocol just like telephones did.6 -
any TV series i start, i have to finish it before i do anything else.
does it happen with every one here...1 -
Fucking YouTube adverts on chromecast. Every time 55 seconds required to watch and THEN it starts another 55 optional seconds. I'm happy to have a remote so you can skip easy but they know you're sitting comfortable in front of your TV so they keep pushing ads. It's unethical. Torture, before I didn't mind so much, before the 55 seconds shit what was pretty rare before45

Samsung apparently thinks they are doing us users a favour with their "genius" TV block feature.
Let the following be clear: I will never get a television which can be remotely disabled by ANY one, even if allegedly for my benefit.
In fact, I'd be happier with 768p "HD ready" garbage from 2005 that at least works reliably than a shiny "QLED+" Samsung TV that can fail without warning at the press of a button at some giant corporation's headquarters.
Remember the May 2019 Firefox incident?
"We can remotely disable your TV, but it's just for your protec...." Get lost.10 -
Bought a new tv. Over £1000 which is probably classed as mid range. However it's still a chunk of money.
It's my first experience with android since 2008.
It's still ABSOLUTELY SHITE!!!
Wish I'd gotten another TV now.15 -
I'm soon going to be crossing the path into the world of Linux with my first install.
So here's my device specs:
Toshiba Satellite L755-S5256
RAM: 4GB
CPU: i3-2310 (2.1ghz)
I use the device to stream movies and TV onto my TV (through HDMI cord) since the TV can't connect to the internet.
Any suggestions for a simple and light weight distro I could use? Thanks everyone in advance!10 -
Apple products are so fucking overpriced. Here is an "Apple TV Remote Loop" (that holds the remote to your wrist). It costs ₹ 1500
For people outside India, his shit costs more than 1 year of unlimited calling phone plan from the leading provider, with 24 GB data and complementary TV and Movies subscription. (₹ 1299)15 -

whenever i tell my dad about a technology that is going way beyond our imagination and tell him about the consequences of it and how we should worry about that

Does anyone know how in Movies and TV shows do all those computer sites/software are done?
Like when we see a cia mission room for example, and there after agents running a face recognising and get 50 popups with information, or location some secret hide out place and super cool screen with 10 widgets show us location..
That can't be real.. But i have no idea how it's done.. is it green screen replaced later with fake video, or something similar? Please help, I MUST KNOW THE TRUTH!!!!!!!18 -
Would like to suggest all my devRant friends to watch TVF Pitchers. If you like Silicon Valley you will definitely like this.
Available on YouTube or TVFplay.com , this is a story about 4 friends. I am suggesting this because this web series was a deal breaker in India. One of a kind to go to No.25 on IMDB's top 250 TV shows.
A must watch :)3 -

I've been watching that "Mr Robot" lately, and its warped my sensibilities. I wish more producers would spend the time to build that sort of realism4

WTH. My TV, with a plugged in chromecast, just turned itself on and played music that definetely was not mine.

So arround a month back , I was watching videos and photos I clicked in the vacation I went.
All the photos and videos were in a 1TB harddisk and I connected to my TV for better viewing experience.
In the mid way, I had a power cut and suddenly TV switched off.
This was not supposed to happen because my inverter has to kick in !
Fuck it , something happened to my inverter and delay was just enough to switch the TV off.
Now TV is on , harddisk is recognised and
Hell yeah! There are no files in the harddisk!
I lost my shit !, Before I do any thing, I tried to recover the files, luckily some vacation images and videos were recovered but all of my project source code(the ones I Did not push it to github, those were done when I was learning), most of my documents etc.. were gone!
May not be the worst one , but I lost all my coding memories.I mean those projects were done in my school times.2 -

I "fight" with another developer at the end of a school project (a website).
The "other developer" complained because he had received a lower rating than mine.
He went to the teacher telling them that I had to lower the evaluation because during the project I watched TV series, And the teacher replied: there are those who can do it and some like you do not.
He could not do it because when he concentrated he could not do anything, you think when he lost himself in TV series.
There were various quarrels because I had this attitude but a higher rating (and anyway with a product a thousand times better than his), while he gave 100% he could not do anything.5 -
Final episode of leverage redemption, they used an Android phone. Have you ever seen a TV series where they don't use an IPhone?!
Cracks start small 😋3 -
Just finished watching "Halt and Catch Fire" on Netflix. If you haven't checked it out, you definitely should. It's about 80s tech disruptions. Also, any other suggestions for tech related TV series / movies? Silicon Valley, Mr. Robot etc.?6
-
Anyone watched the Silicon Valley? AMAZING! I love it, Ehrlich and Gilfoyle are the best!
Does someone know a similar show? And please don't suggest the IT crowd, I don't like it8 -
Whoever said that "The IT Crowd" is a good TV Series...
WTF?
It's so... lame.... Are all the British comedies like that?23 -
Ted talks or music with tea (mostly office).
Food, music, hangout with friends/family, Animes, movies, TV series lot of options. 😀4 -
The cancellation of The Expanse just feels like the ultimate confirmation that Earthers are the worst. The Belters would never have let that show go.3

Last night I was awake until 5am watching tv series now feeling sleepy all day. Well it's Sunday so fuck why not.1

!Rant
Just spent almost an hour trying to figure out why my computer won't display on my tv monitor (because the best smart TV is a PC). I tried everything, unplugging the graphics card and using the motherboard, tried another tv, tried different sockets. Tried another graphics card etc.
Eventually, without notice, after plugging it to a regular PC monitor, it started working. No clue why. But it works now so I'm happy. -
Why don't hackers or super coders in tv/movies use mouse? I can't even think of working without a mouse!6
-
The morning started so promising. I’m at a 2:1 “commenting that shit out” ratio now. Time for some tv.

*Sister comes into room*

Me: "Controlled all cables?"
Sister: "No."
Just why?4 -
That emberassing moment when you watch youtube on tv and you mom walks in as the FIFA ad starts to bawl loudly outta your tv.

Fuck LG and fuck the person who invented WebOS. The shittiest tv OS I ever seen in my life. Gonna get either a chromecast 4k box or xiaomi mi tv box s, hopefully this piece of shit LG tv will atleast do the work then.1

Had an idea for a devrant tv show, worked in characters and plotline, wrote things down... Took too long to realize it was silicon valley and the it guys...

I currently have a single monitor setup.
I want to upgrade. Which one is better?
1. Buying another monitor (same as I have)
2. Buying a big 40" TV and code on that25 -
Just a quick question someone might be able to help with, I'm looking for an android tv box that is relatively up to date and going to be kept up to date for development.
Haven't been able to find anything on Google other than the NVIDIA shield or Xiaomi Mi box...5 -
I wanted to buy a 50 inch LCD 4K TV for my room to wall mount it in my room as third display for coding and monitoring.
I went to a TV store and already saw 4 people in a Queue waiting to buy a OLED TV for 3000 $.
Currently I dont understand, why a lot of people are hiped for OLED TV's.
For me a OLED on anything with a batterie is the better option, but not on a stationary monitor.
Sure OLED got the deeper black, but on a stationary Monitor you want the best colors and for that there's LCD.
But OLED TV's are selling triple the price of a LCD and people buy it like it's the best shit ever. WTF!2 -
over the time "the mentalist" and "the big bang theory" was replaced by "breaking bad", "silicon valley" and "halt and catch fire", now they are replaced by "the profit", "shark tank" and "podcast". is this a beginning or change or an end????

My sister tell her boyfriend she's good at technology, he ask her to start the TV, my sister call me!

Have you ever watched Idiocracy? Please do. Especially the smart ones in this platform. I'm afraid it might just be the most accurate forecast of the future of humankind. I've been mentioning this movie for years.
Politics, genZ, etc. - the trend is already there.
I don't have a TV. Mostly bcz I have better things to do with my time than watch ads and tv shows.
In youtube there are people who do reviews of various things. A few days ago my wife came across one that reviews episodes of a tv show that, apparently, is shown on one of the most popular Lithuanian TV channels. It's called Undress. The idea is that 2 people, a man and a woman, meet in a studio in front of a camera, do some small talk and then undress each other. Then they go to a bed in the studio and do various tasks: provokative questions, touching, kissing, etc., occasional slips of nudity
Usually girls are strippers, porn actresses, whores, etc. Guys are salesmen, bus drivers, finance workers, etc.
It's awkward and sad to watch it. But whats even more sad is that it's broadcasted on a TV and people find it entertaining to watch. Even morevsad is that there are people who willingly sign up as participants, knowing the whole nation will be watching and they seem to enjoy it.
W.T.F... Idiocracy13 -
Guess what I saw while channel surfing on tv. A Linux terminal Channel. There was no one doing anything to it, it was just there.1

Netflix "Smart Downloader" downloading 4 episodes of a TV show. That I already finished. Fucking Smartass

You are an eletronics engineer --> you can fix my TV set then...
You are a computer engineer -> you can fix my my Windows laptop...
Life is tough for tech oriented people.... -
Dunno if anyone else has ever used it or if most people just the browser, but the Twitch smart TV app is hot garbage. It takes several seconds to process every remote control input, even just navigating the menus.
It’s the only app on my TV that performs so badly. YouTube/Netflix/Prime all work perfectly, but for some reason Twitch acts like its running on a Windows Vista toaster1 -
I stumbled apon this software called vavoo.to, whith this you can watch Movies, Series, Live TV and more just started to reverse the apk.
Now out of curiosity how the fuck are they doing this with Live TV without hosting it themselves.
They also sell legally their own Android TV boxes with the pirated content from Switzerland. Why can they do this without being fucked from behind??
I will find it out eventually but this is interesting to reverse. -
WOO!!! Taking cord cutting to the extreme!!
The dual channel TV tuner arrived, took it out for a test drive by setting up a few scheduled recordings.
Quality isn't as good as 4K TV and it takes a lot of space as it doesn't use a compressed format... But no more Prime, commercials, and now can watch at 2x speed! Plus that's what the 1TB HD is for...
Though now my worries about drive failure are coming back...14 -
I've always wondered how come in certain videos that have embedded subtitles, usually tv shows, they don't get detected by mobile players, but do on PC?3

What are some good tv shows and or movies that are either directly related to the tech industry or at least scratch the surface? This could also include documentaries.
The more I get into learning to code the more I want to immerse myself into the culture of it all. Plus it helps inspire me to keep going on my journey which hasn't been easy so far.17 -
Hey there Ranters,
So I am big film and video guy. I was wondering what good IT shows you guys watching. My all time favorite is The IT Crowd. Most recent show i am watching is Silicon Valley.
Any suggestions?10 -
I watch TV shows and pretend like I am working in front of my parents. Is there any chance, I get a place in heaven?6
-
Prediction:
1. Broadcast (free) TV will consist 100% of live programming
2. All series will be bought and available on streaming services like Amazon, Netflix, Disney+
3. Cable channels or TV episodes can be bought individually (iTunes, Google Videos, etc), basically they will be their own streaming service (it actually that already exists, IPTV? just not in the US?)
Why:
Everyone will use DVRs to record TV shows so can skip all advertisements
Therefore only way to get viewers eyeballs for ads is live programming where you need to cast votes which affect the outcomes (supposedly)
Streaming services obviously don't have this problem and don't need to run ads since there's a monthly subscription fee that more then covers cost.2 -

Hi everyone
I have a pretty old sansui tv in my room that I lost the remote for ages ago. I would like to remotely control the TV without having to buy the actual remote for the specific model (which is ~$28). As a TV OS developer, I'm interested in enhancing the user experience by providing more granular control over applications. Specifically, I'd like to be able to:
Monitor the current state of an application, such as whether it's open, paused, or playing.
Interact with the application's UI elements, like buttons, menus, and sliders.
Control the application's media playback, including starting, pausing, stopping, and seeking.
Are there any existing APIs or frameworks within the TV OS ecosystem that would enable me to achieve these goals? If so, could you please provide more details on their capabilities and limitations?5 -
Trying to get my mom to use a Fire TV was hell on earth, old people, keeping cable companies in business
