For a long time, I wanted to be a part of open source communities. I've been a dev for 6 years now.

I have the skills needed to help out but usually I'm fairly unexperienced on working with big teams, code reviews, and build-test systems they often use. So I'm scared as hell to even begin with. I feel unsecure to reach out and ask for helping or send a basic fix / pull-request.

What are your suggestions, how did you start working on open source projects?

Forgive me Yukihiro Matsumoto senpai, for I have sinned. I can't manage to pass my notices and my alerts from Ruby on Rails to React, so I have to display them in invisible divs. This is so ugly I threw up in my mouth.

In a similar vein to @Awlex's story, I lost 800GB of anime in a disk head crash. To this day, I have no idea how it happened.
We were getting our house painted and so my anime hard drive was left untouched for about a month, and then when I tried to connect it I found the disk head had crashed.

And then, a second time when I had managed to amass another 400GB of anime and something went wrong while I was trying to delete some other folders through Ubuntu's GUI (yeah, I know) and my anime folder was accidentally shift-deleted. T-T

Now my collection is back up at 300GB and I only use command-line to delete multiple folders now.

My little journey of regrets:
I remember when I was fourteen, I opened a small gap the door of "programming". It were the first steps of html, tags and what they do, to be precise.
"May, looks good. Thanks for the glimpse. Cya"
For about the other half of my life only magic happened at my desktop.
And now I'm standing once again at the door of programming trying to breach it with nukes n shit.

What a bunch of idiots

As a college student, I find it hard to take out time from the college schedule just for studies. And it's not just the 9-5 but the time after that I am unable to spare. I have a personal learning goal that I will learn some xyz technology before the end of this semester. But in this entire week I have been able to dedicate only hour of time to my actual learning. There's college quizzes, assignments and my juniors come to me for help as well.. I help out as best as I could but them being new devs, it's like they haven't discovered Google yet. Everytime they face an error they're like, "please help us senpai". It's really time consuming.
