Just because I'm a programmer doesn't mean I'm some nerd that watches anime, relishes in video games, and spends more time around computers than around girls!
Even though that's all true...10
This isn't really a hacking story but it does remind me of something I did as "revenge."
In middle school, this one fool kept bullying me. Always tried to harm me, always tried to insult me, always tried to make me fall during PE.
I hated him a lot, so instead of trying to kill him as planned, I did a harmless little keylogger prank thing.
I installed a keylogger on the school's laptop before class. (I did it during break, and when class started, I placed it on his desk.)
He took the bait, and instead of doing work, he logged onto his social media accounts. Now I had his passwords and everything.
When I went home, I logged onto his social media. I checked his messages so I can get some dirt on him, didn't find much except for the fact he snuck out a few times, and smoked before.
I changed his profile picture to some cringy anime thing and messaged one of his friends (the one who always copied my test answers in History and would steal my homework) and I said, "tell --- that if he doesn't stop being an asshole, I'll do worse than "hack" his social media."
It freaked them both out a bit, but didn't change their behavior, which is a shame because my threat was empty. It's not like I was able to do anything more than that in middle school. To this day, they still have no idea who did that.
This was about 4 years ago.18
My easter weekend so far:
- Fix stuff
- break stuff
- call broken stuff an easter egg
- watch anime22
*goes on site looking for free anime to stream*
Site: *popup* we noticed you're using an ad blocker! Please turn it off to continue using our site!
Me, an intellectual: *opens chrome developer tools, finds the HTML for the popup, opens its corresponding CSS and adds display: none; continues watching anime blissfully, without popups and ads*
Who said being a developer wasn't a super power?18
Found a random website that lets you design your own anime avatars, its quite in depth and there are many art styles from different artists available:
* It's comprehensive, and it has a lot of styles available
* Editor is intuitive and Modern
* It's in Japanese, you might wanna use GTranslate.
* Randomizer fucks up on some of the more in-depth art styles.
* Seems to be mobile-exclusive design for the editor.
You can check it out here: https://picrew.me
Here's a little sample from picrew on the Gorilla Art style
(Note: this is actually my GitHub avatar as well)22
Get my hunter license.
Become the pirate king.
An anime adaptation before we are 18.
Liberate Japan from Britannia.
Get Kokonotsu to take over the candy shop.
Kill my teacher before he wipes out humanity.
Kill all the kabane.
Kill all the titans.21
I hope they make an anime about being a dev and the enemy is the deadline.
Dev: ill use this coding technique number 111

> Gradle build finished in 32 seconds
As if you did, fucking cunt. I've only watched half an anime episode and commented here and there in the meantime. Surely that'd be 30 seconds. Perhaps Gradle, you could've taken all that extra time to learn how to fucking count.
Android development, what hell am I getting myself into...6
The music I hear while coding can describe my current mood:
Dubstep and other electronic music -> chilled and focused
Movie soundtracks -> everything I do today is working fine
Anime Openings/JPop -> in desperate need for motivation
Metal -> why is that son of a code not working?!
What kind of music do you listen to while coding?18
Our head IT guy is over 70 years old. Our other IT guy is in his twenties. They've just hired another guy. New guy has anime characters on his car windows.
I'm made to use IE 10. Our content filter proxy is in the US. We are in the U.K. Web browsing is not fast even though we have 100Mb up and down.
I'm beginning to suspect life is a cruel joke.6
Do you believe that anyone can do anything? (See: 13th Doctor)
Can anyone become a programmer? Or is it not for everybody?
My cousin has started "learning" C programming at college. I was actually surprised when he first told me that he wanted to study programming and get an IT degree. He would give an impression of a spoiled non-tech son of a non-tech manager to you. (He plays games on his Xbox One and Nintendo Switch and uses his MacBook Air to watch anime). He was never good at studying or learning. I immediately thought that it was totally not for him and he should give it a second thought, but he said that he was absolutely sure about it. It's been a few weeks now and he's finding it all really difficult.
I think one should like learning constantly and should like solving problems to make it all an enjoyable learning experience.
Self-study is also really important, especially if you have garbage professors (like he says he has).
I always try to help him. I told him to focus on self-study, recommended good books (he even bought one for C), recommended good online resources. But he's a procrastinator leveled over 9000. So, you'd understand, he's not doing any of that right now. I even told him that if he didn't self-study, he might regret it one day, but he just can't bring himself to self-study, he says. I'm gonna continue helping him in any way I can, but I guess you can't really help someone who doesn't want to help themselves.
Thanks for reading. :)13
Windows... it's 10:48 on a fucking Saturday. All I want to do is watch some anime, write a bit of code, have some Huel and pretend the rest last week didn't happen... CAN YOU FUCKING FINISH AND LET ME IN ALREADY?!14
From this rant: https://devrant.com/rants/1842092/...
For the one piece lovers put there. My buddy made the ship and although i'm not good at watching anime i appreciate the work he puts in. I'm just here sharing hes work, maybe its for you and maybe it isn't but as a person i would like to live in a world where everyone got to achieve some success doing something they love.
The work of him (PS, hes a writer too)
Have a good day all7
It works. It finally works!
After an 8 hour session I got my crawler to work and give me basically every anime op/ed I long for.
All that using Elixir even though I'm still fairly inexperienced with both elixir and functional programming
I'll try to create an API and eventually Maybe even a database tomorrow (or rather in a couple of hours)5
*WanBLowS shits itself as usual in BSOD*
FEATUREFUL FUCKING JOKE OF AN OPERATING SYSTEM..!!!! How about you do the only thing that you're good at - casual shit like letting me watch a fucking anime! - and do it properly?! Yes there's an rsync from btrfs to btrfs going on in the background - because yes I fucking detest your joke of a filesystem called NTFS!! Should that even matter?! ONE FUCKING JOB!!!
Meanwhile my tablet, a fucking €120 cheapie!! It can stay up and running - stable! - for fucking weeks in a row, only taken down by me forgetting to charge the bloody thing every few days. But yeah it's gotta be a hardware issue, it's gotta be an obscure setup. NO IT'S A FUCKING CRAPTACULAR SHIT OS!!! If only those Microshit certified enganeers would write a goddamn line of DECENT CODE!!!
(As for anyone who doesn't know already that I've tried countless times to convert this turd to Linux.. It's an Intel + Nvidia GPU hybrid and it doesn't even boot a Linux live session. Believe me, I've tried.)7
26 or so hours up now. And I've got a few stories to tell :) feel free to refresh your cup of coffee and take a seat.
Last few days I've been going into this odd place called intown.irl to get in touch with its inhabitants. An odd place I have to say. But in some cases quite rewarding, even got a MILF home with me and into bed at some point. Anyway...
3 days ago I think it is now? Thursday evening I took my laptop to this local bar where I had this issue about dihydrogen monoxide with one of the bartenders earlier (you'll find that rant on those keywords). Still wanted to visit it regardless though, as I met that first woman there earlier that approached me. Unfortunately I didn't see her there that day.
Some bald guy who was clearly drunk approached me. Many people were already giving curious looks at this laptop I brought to the bar. I finally tuned it up with the stickers from FOSDEM.. I'll put a picture of it in the comments. My theme was one of privacy (central), distributions and Google's open source initiative (which aligns with the keychain token I got from them as well). But of course.. that guy.. he thought that a pimped/riced laptop obviously meant that I was a hacker.
Guy went to the toilet.. went back.. and suddenly grabbed my laptop and turned it towards him. Boy was I never more smugly satisfied that those rubber pads on the bottom are quite resilient. Could've almost damaged my screen by trying to grab it like that. But it's a CCFL display.. so high voltage. If it were to become broken.. worth it. 😈
On it at the time was a terminal, pinging Google (had network issues at that bar, to the point where one of the - I think - staff members got up to me and offered the WiFi password and got to talk with me.. more on that later), and my usual Linux desktop along with the Arch anime wallpaper with the quote of Da Vinci.. simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Of course the guy saw the terminal.. and probably reaffirmed.. yep, that's a hacker. At least he wasn't too wrong about the general term.. but the hat.. most likely he was wrong on that one.
Guy left with this question.. "you are a hacker, aren't you."
I replied to him: "No sir. I'm not a hacker. I've got no idea what you're talking about."
Guy kept looking at me weirdly for the whole night to come.
Back to that companion guy though. Mac user, yada yada.. but he told me about his backup solution. Apparently - I shit you not - he has not only the photos on his local device, he's also frequently backing them up in Time Machine (which I was really curious about whether it uses mirroring or snapshots.. he couldn't tell, lmk if you do) but not only that.. he was storing another offsite backup in that very bar, in case his house went on fire.
Now that is a proper backup scheme!!! If only more people were like that.
Seriously though.. that bald guy who took my laptop just like that... I just let it slide for that one time, but I tend to treat my machines as an extension of my very self. I think that was a very uncalled for move. Asshole...
How would you have reacted to such a thing? And.. maybe that's why we technologists don't get outside too often? Fucking everything is hacking these days if it's not Knopkes and Blinkenlights… Not every shell is a h4xx0ring console for h3kk1ng de fasbuk…15
I just noticed... a lot of people who are into tech also like anime. Is the love for anime just embedded into our technological souls?31
A month ago, I watched anime for the first time. I fell in love with it.
Am I living up to the stereotype of "IT geek = Weeb"?21
When a person stops thinking, that's the end of them
I came across this beautiful quote in an anime.13
Well, if consuming of anime media without any interaction with other anime geeks counts as geek activity...
On the other hand I do find creative porn entertaining 🤔14
TL;DR I want to watch videos faster.
Siraj Raval, a YouTuber who produces videos about artificial intelligence and the concepts behind it (not the buzz-shit-type 😜), once said in one of his videos that he learned to watch videos three times faster.
This man has truly changed my life in many ways.😯
I've started with watching videos with slight multipliers. Around half a year later I learned to watch videos with a multiplier between 1.75 and 2.5.
It's really incredible how much time one can save like this.
25min of free time? Let me just watch that 40min talk about event-driven programming real quick!
Don't do that with gameplays, series, anime and other types of videos 😏 you watch for entertainment because it kinda defies the concept of entertainment.

Papa tutu tutu tu Wawa:
Warning: pretty sad thoughts. If you're having a blast of a day, please skip. It's for your own good.
That feeling when you finish watching a piece of art. Be it a film or anime or anything. You're confused why you feel good, but at the same time you're hurt. You smile but the pain is still there when you reflect on the feelings and the experiences you had and you realise that none of it will ever happen again. No art or any of the past will happen again exactly the same way how you felt and experienced.
You think of the best friend you once had. Think of the girl you held hands with and time stopped. The first time you embraced her and knew you loved her more than anything, even if she didn't know your feelings. Think of your first kiss. Your first serious relationship. The last time you saw your parents, your wife, your children, family.
Now look at the perspective of the future and the past you: blissfully ignoring the certain end to all experiences until they all abruptly end reminding you of this and it hurts. Damn it hurts.
I will never be able to see me best friend again, nor will I ever be able to hold hands with her either. First time I kissed is now long gone. It's almost like you wish you were aware of how valuable and important the experience was and to not just throw it away like the last time and the several times before that. But the sad part is, you don't know which experience will make you realise how much you missed it.
But even if you do realise by placing yourself in the place of your future self, and you cherish the experience, you blame yourself because you could have either avoided it's end or did something better.
Like your break up: could it be fixed? Was it worth the little time you have on this plante?
Like your friends argument you had: could you have done better? Could you have stopped it?
Like your parent's death: could you have been a better son to your now overworked dying mum? Could you see how hard they tried even though you thought they were total dicks?
Now you realise that literally anything you do, you will have a problem with somewhere down the line. You're destined to be sad shattered and broken by every day that is tragedy.
But it's similar to art. After all, your life is a piece of art about how you died. Which is why you smile and enjoy the last second of the experience which you just had. That chest warming feeling will only last a little. You smile through pain, yet you realise its not the end.
Then again, its just my thoughts that i need to vent. Take it with a pinch of salt.8
This is adorable
The packages name is oneko, you can even set colours or speed, or make it an... Anime girl?
Whatever suits you best, I guess
Almost forgot, it's an actual animated cat that's running after the mouse24
Just now when I'm watching one of the many anime's I've saved onto my file server I noticed something.. all of their files are incomplete, and so are they on the NTFS mirror on this WanBLowS host. The files got corrupted. I recall that I used robocopy to place the files back and forth, and yet again it lives up to its expectations of it being a motherfucking piece of Winshit. FUCK YOU ROBOCOPY!!! If I wanted to fetch that anime yet again just to deal with your developers' incompetence, I'd have watched it online!! Meanwhile tell me, HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO DEAL WITH A NETWORK FILE TRANSFER THAT EVEN USES YOUR OWN SHITFEST OF A PROTOCOL, FUCKING SMB?!! MSFT certified pieces of shit!!!!7
I just want to share my very first companion. Haha... This is btw my laptop way back 2011, used it to store highschool memories and silly stuff, if you know what I mean. This is the laptop that I first used the labrynth of directories such as A folder contains A to z Folder and again inside one of those contains A to z again lowered and upper. This is also my partner in coding C++ back in the days, I usually write code in paper and when back to school I used our lab's computer. Ohh and I also have my anime addiction started on this too! One time I discovered the side VGA and connected it to our big LCD screen but by the time I plugged it in, it produce explosive sounds, and my grandpa said that that lcd tv is only for 110v not for 220v. I learned the importance of voltages that day. I just went back and open it to backup my highschool memories and stuff to my external hdd. Ahhhhh memories.3
So i made a "mini player" which is inspired by the windows 10 mini player! it turned out better than i expected7
If there is a anime about the human cells during their work...
Can we have a anime but its devRant6
I really love helping and teaching others about code. Recently I had a friend that wanted to get into web development. Being me, I told him that i would teach him all he wants but that he needs to do some research first to show me that he feels comfortable with as a minimum requirement. I told him to research the minimum technologies required to build a web page and to tell me about the request response cycle and stuff like that. When he came back I was expecting small explanations such as "html stands for bla bla and is used for bla bla".No. this dude comes back all proud to tell me about flipping Laravel. I sit there quietly listening to him go on about the "Laravel programming language". He likes anime, I like kendo (and have trained in it) so while he is talking I slowly move us into the part of my office where I keep my boken (wodden sword). As soon as he sees me sitting down with the sword he asks what am i doing with it.
"Well, remember when in some anime that you like you see teachers beating their studets over stupid shit?"
..."WHAT DOES HTTP STANDS FOR?"
"The...the err the web language that.. er"
"Like the updates thing?"
:) guarantee he wont forget what http is after that and what js and Laravel are from now on :) needless to say he will continue learning with much more care.
Coding dojo for real mofockas, ya dig?3
Anybody else ever get the feeling it'd just be easier to be the stereotypical fat lonely coder who just stays in, codes, play games and watches TV shows/films/anime?
Sometimes I just think I could fit into that role so easily and it'd be fine. Kind of sad, but fine.15
Gender Bending For Fun and Profit.
I love how in the 'make your avatar' area, if you select female, and then click facial hair, theres nothing to select from.
Like a massive fuck you to every gender bending "down with meritocracy" purple haired dicksniffer in sanfran.
Also I'm sorely disappoint for desk items, theres no
1. giant dildos
2. anime figures/weeb shit
3. mini monoliths (I asked the site devs about this, they replied "we can't do that dave.")
4. a shirtless option for my female avatar
5. edgy scrolling numbers and code, like in the matrix
6. hoodies. They're the modern leather jacket.
7. Big nasty gnarly biker beard which I'm currently in the process of growing. How am I supposed to intimidate other anonymous cowards and mock them over the size of their beard compared to my own avatar's e-beard size? It's quiet girthy and lengthy, I assure you!
This is completely unrelated, but I thought devducks were like quick one-off debug sessions that could be bought from other devrant users.
I was disappointed when I discovered it was just merch.
On the otherhand I'm glad as fuck it's not. Site would be flooded by broken-english speaking goat humping dickheads.
How am I supposed to show off my ability to code with completely unrelated avatar change ups when no one will allow me to emasculate my avatar?19
I watched an anime just because I thought it is about programming.
I have saw memes about it but when I watched season 1 it was all about an artist and graphic designer. So she had a programmer friend, so I watched season 2.
Fffffff it's just 2 little part related programming. Just give me a programming anime. :(
Just one more++ to 5007
When your boss is a weeb and is always watching anime or trying to convince you to watch it while you're working. Smh.4
I use my PC mainly for gaming, Anime and home stuff.
Pc is a big tower under the desk btw.
Main monitor is a 34", 1440p, 60hz from LG (it's rather old). Second one is a 29", 1080p monitor from Phillips which I also could rotate. I really have no idea what I should use it for and I never really put it on anyway.
I could do more or less professional recording for Twitch or whatever but I'm to lazy and no pro, so I only use it for some multiplayer game sessions.
Questions or ideas how to optimise my setup are welcome.
Cable management is a mess btw.
So ... I'm just watching an anime (Musaigen no Phantom World) ... and this scene isn't related to the main plot. This is the intro of the third episode - the intros of the first two episodes were about the "phantoms", "illusions" ... :)
It starts with a blue screen and the little fairy (it's a phantom btw) said: "When the PC goes crazy, you panic quickly."
In the screenshot he says: "It is important to back up your data somewhere in case of an emergency."
A second screenshot is added in the comments.14
Could not fucking sleep at all.
Spent the entire night in a combination of:
Playing with NestJS(its fucking beautiful)
Watching seven deadly sins on Netflix(current fav anime)
And i am still not tired. Even then I am not in the mood for going to work.
Not sure if I want to risk it and drive there since I know I will be crashing at around noon.
I hate it when this happens.
During the week I would do crazy shit to try and get me to fall asleep.
I would wake up early. Work out, go to work, get back from work, kill myself at the gym and nope.
Still wide fucking awake.
To make it better, my stomach begins to act up and fucking kill me the more I don't sleep for some reason(although it could be related to me piercing my stomach years ago)
I really dislike being human. Such fragile bodies.
But yeah, NestJS is frickin amazing. Typescript is sexy as all hell with it. Just what i was looking for in terms of out of the box architecture for JS apps5
can you guys suggest me good TV/Anime series with few seasons or episodes so I can use my Sunday. Not in a mood for work.43
Seeing how cool the community's work stories here, and how they know a lot and how they work in organized companies makes me feel like an absolute piece of shit who's lacking a lot of industry skills.
Remotely working for a startup that lacks any sense of organization, CTO is a volunteering web developer who never shows up. A lone wolf I am. I never signed to be a lone wolf. A product that is based on an absolute garbage product that is in turn based on another utter garbage product. It feels so much pain every time I have to deal with that garbage that I end up watching some stupid anime instead. Decent salary for a junior, very friendly people, and a very empowering non-profit cause but still... technical side is just shit and I don't think I can keep with this.
It has been a long long time since I posted, a lot has happened the past couple of months.
I lost my grandfather, I got a nice dev job and God I miss ranting here. I finally published my side project and all I have to say is
AWS is a b*tch! But beautiful at the same time, had to learn a lot the old way (trial and error).
I don't have any anime pictures as I've changed phones recently but I find this picture just as awesome.
Hope you are having a great day ranters.2
Finally got my anime api somewhat working.
Tomorrow (or in a couple of hours 😅) I'll try to register my first domain and and get my first vps(?) up and running
The api features the data from /r/animethemes, so it'll have 2000+ animes entries with opening / ending urls.
I've also tried to implement some form of searching ('%term%' stuff 🤣), but you better know your abime by its romanized name, or you're gonna have a bad time since I have no alternative names per anime yet.8
I've met several people who can be deemed "incompetent", but sadly most of their problems are their attitude, this is one of several person that left quite an impression for me,
A guy from my previous company who was a PHP developer, not bad at his job, but has severely bad attitude, childish, fucking rude and barbaric, he doesn't like when someone is having a good time and always pulling stunts at everyone,
Some notable moments was if anyone is having/tries to have a good day, he'll come up with a way to ruin it,
Someone is having a good lunch, he'd come by and ask for a taste
Someone is having a bad lunch, he'd come by and rub some salt on their face
Someone just bought something cool, he'd act like an expert about it
Someone getting praised, he'd ruin the moment
Someone rebukes his attitude, he act like a victim
Someone shows discontent about the job, he acts like a wise guy
Someone said good things about the job, he refutes and bash whoever is convenient
Someone drinks water, he commented on it (I once gargled some water after I ate something oily, and he mocked me for being disgusting, I didn't give a shit and gargled anyway just to annoy him)
I gained quite a hatred against this guy because he used to pick on me, it all started shortly after I joined, I gained quite the reputation with the boss, and I associated myself quite closely with the higher ups (manager, sysadmin, PM), and since he sat in a cubicle next to me, I was the only colleague within talking range
His usual antics was showing off his seniority, but it doesn't work to me because I don't like to bow to authority, especially a petty one like this, luckily he doesn't know jack shit about front end, he tried to learn but still unable to fulfill what the boss wanted so at least he can't outsmart me,
Later after he had a dispute (disagreement on a side project, and he left the project hanging abruptly) with the shitty manager, he started showing discontent in the workplace, everyday was spent streaming anime and deliberately laughing loudly until it bothers everyone, it got him a warning and relocation order to work at the same office as the boss' (the devs usually works on the branch office),
After the relocation, he started to bother me and act like a victim, he somewhat blames me for his relocation, he even tried to persuade me to cause issue on the work I was doing, obviously I said no, and after I told him to go fuck himself he tried to make me relocated to the main office for no reason,
The timing of my resignation was quite impeccable, and after I submitted my resignation, he stopped bothering me for a while,
Not a bad programmer in technical terms, but his assholery is top notch9
Ascended Anime Nerd
Got started with Dragonball Z when it first came stateside. Brother was borrowing fansubs of the Cell and Buu sagas back when people were wondering if Goku would ever finish Snake Road.
Around that time I started noticing some serious discrepancies between the broadcast translations and the fansubs, and so I decided to cut out the middleman—after all, how hard can it be to learn Japanese?—and did a search on AltaVista for a “kanji course”, turning up a course hosted by Rice University that taught basic Japanese using Magic Knight Rayearth and YuuYuu Hakusho.
Turns out the answer to the difficulty question is that anything van be simple to learn, if you don’t know it’s supposed to be hard. Especially if you embrace the parts everyone else dreads (falling in love with kanji, in my case).
Over the next nine months I ditched my Spanish class—and all my other classes, for that matter—to study Japanese in the computer lab. I was reviewing the lessons, playing JRPGs on SNES9X (stored on a ZIP disk, since every computer in the lab had a ZIP drive), and transcribing the scripts so I could transliterate and translate them thereafter. In a lab that went so far as to uninstall Minesweeper and Solitaire to discourage playing games on school computers, I had free reign to do so openly because the one time I got confronted for playing a game I had 150+ leaves of handwritten transcriptions to show them.
Long story short, by the time I took Japanese 101 9 months later it was like Hermione in Snape’s potions class, since I had already taught myself about 2 years’ worth of material. I then transferred out to a college that did a one-class-per-month “modular” system that basically allowed me to take 8 more Japanese classes full-time for the following year. By the time my exchange trip came up I was sofar ahead of the curriculum I was taking classes alongside the native Japanese students.
Running out of linguistic topics, I did an independent study on classical Japanese literature in its original, unmodernized grammar and orthography. A topic I’m still fairly active with 15 years later.3
One of my coworker insists to take of shoes and socks while coding. He say that cold feet helps him concentrate.
This reminds me one of the Japanese anime about Mahjong, if you know what I am talking about.2
Oh boy, our boss is starting to be a nazi in regards on what to put on our desks. It’s not like I have a sexy anime figurine or a statue of fucking Hitler. I guess it’s time to start looking for a new job.13
Do y'all think that it (the plural version of Anime) is spelled Animes or Anime?
Asking for a friend.14
I trolled my friend by telling him that there's a 100 MB data transfer restriction on Windows right now because of the Ransomware that's floating around the internet.
I can't believe it worked and now he thinks he couldn't copy anime or games from me because it exceeds 100mb file size.
What's your best troll moments to people who're not computer techies?3
30% setting u partitions for arch
20% fixing typos that caused some kernel panic
20% trying to find a good resource for Squid
20% Giving up and reading the docs
10% choosing alcohol
I just wanna work on my personal projects which give me a valid excuse to look at smuggy anime girls2
Finally made good use of my RPi and setup pi-hole on it. After a painful 4hour long dist-upgrade and picking the right filters it is working like a charm. Why didn't I make this work earlier.
I've also wrote a little script which queries the api and displays different info on the AMOLED screen that was lying around unused for some time.
In case you are interested (from left to right and bottom), the traffic in the last 10 minutes with the max value on a graph, the most active clients query and blocked ratio as lines relative to the top one, and an overview of the total queries/ blocked queries and total clients.
At least I've finally spent a weekend useful not just playing games and watching anime.5
The first anime that I watched, almost 20 years ago, just came out with a sequel....
The thought is just wow.... it's been so long since...
But looks like the characters didn't grow... lol7
Watch Anime! Not exactly to motivate myself to code but to give a break for some time(eventually getting motivation back after some time) 🇯🇵3
Colleagues in IT Student Assistant's desk: [Watching Kimi No Nawa]

Talk about dedication.2
I'm picking old manuals and documents for recycling, enough to fill one handcart.
Just found a letter from old girlfriends and lovers, and a folder full of a closed form of soft non-gender hentai...
Why do I find homoerotic hentai art better then more normal hentai... I don't know, but I still do.
Well, I'm just gonna save a few... hehe
Btw, also found some paintings and drawings I forgot I've done, 15 years ago. :D2
Turning Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge into anime girls does not change the fact that they still suck. I feel no pity.6
When you accidentally forget the wk98 tag as well as the time it happened...
Thank you guys for caring about the anime I lost. Love this community2
So I am back home for a week without my laptop and my phone was low on power so I finally give up and decide to use a old PC we had.
I was gonna download some anime which I did but as I was waiting I started just looking around...
1. The drives are huge, 3 HDs with 400GB each.... vs my current 128 GB SSD
2. I found an old stash of anime (2013-4), several series... that I had actually not watched
3. The machine is known to be slow but after using it for awhile to install VLC and JDowloader... It's actually OK...
4. Video can playback at 3x speed... No lag... Apparently I forgot the onboard GPU failed and my dad replaced it with a cheap (I think) GFX card that has like 1GB RAM/processing power...1
If there was an anime Based on developers.
Dev : here comes my favorite browser.
Mouse : No, not until I'm here.
Hand : whattttt? What's happening??
Mind : oh NO!! I why's Internet Explorer is loading?!?
Faster Mind : it's mouse, he's behind all this. Only he's powerful enough to pull off something like this.
Time : Developer-san SAVE me!!
IE : it's too late now, if you do anything it will just slow everything down!!! Hahahah
Dev : No it won't, don't ever underestimate a true developer. It's not over yet!!
*Some keyboard key combination
Time : *screams* developerrr-saaaan!!
Hand : wait, I know it, it's happening. We can still save Time-chan.
IE : WHAT!! No, it can't be!!
Dev : here comes Ctrl+Alt+Del. Be gone....
IE : Nooooooooooooo, this isn't happening, Aaaaaa *dead*
Hand : we did it!!!10
Sunday is Darling in the FranXX day!
To show my current favorite anime,
I tried to keep my home page clean and move all shortcuts to next page.
But if I removed all shortcuts, the page disappears 🤦♂️
God damnit Android!18
First time setting up a linux distro for myself I decided to do it on an external hard drive. Accidentally formatted the whole thing. Lost 200gb of anime.
I restored about 60% soon aftet meeting up with a friend of mine. But it was still devastating.7
So I was watching Your Lie in April while waiting for Android to build
Let's just say that wasn't a pleasant experience after NDK OOM'ed the exact time the saddest part happened
IM NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING ;_;2
So i have a question for you... Do you have any experience with working in a foreign country?
If so, what were your expectations / experiences and where was that location?
I am super curious, since i am not really happy in the country i currently live in and want soon make an approach of going to the most tech-influenced countries in the world - Japan. (Will be still a while until i get there, but i want to gather as many informations about working abroad as possible)
I am of course open to any questions as well, since many people wonder, why tf japan?
Q: Why Japan?
A: Japan has one of the most interesting cultures, as well as their technology became pretty popular and famous over the years, as well as i am an introvert and no one there would bother you with crap.
Q: You know about the working times, right?
A: Yes, completly! I love my job therefore i have (at least for now) no problems with working a good amount of hours / week.
Q: Are you a weeb?
A: No, i don't watch a lot of Anime, i do but just if i have nothing better to do and i find a show i really like.
Also: Please share your experiences, would help me a lot. If any question are left, don't hesitate ! :D12
> builds portable NAS (useing a pi3) to have some Anime on the go
> connects to built-in wifi of NAS
> android be like: "this wifi has no internet, let me disconnrct for you"
Nearly everyone in my family is in software, actually. But I think everyone in my family thinks I sit in front of my computer and watch anime all day instead of doing any actual work.
They're not entirely wrong, either.
I see. They have to be geeky...mmmmh
I read a lot about biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.
My two fav subjects are biology and math from the above. And I try to attend to as many lectures as I can.
Biology fascinates me to no end and it helps that one of my closest friends works as a resesrcher in Mexico, we are far but we get to talk about it all the time. He is more than happy to go on large lectures about the subject.
I also read a fuckload of fantasy books as well as manga. I also go on anime binged here and there.
In perspective though, i don't think anything is as nerdy as software development. SPECIALLY if it involves large portions of math(which in my case does for the things we develop for the accounting department)
( . Y . ) <--- chichis6
I just watched "Venom" in 3D.
That was awesome. I also loved the "Parasite" manga and anime reference. Plus, they made the labours and weapons of the aliens look like those from the game "Prototype" 1 and 2.
Would really watch the future movies of Venom and recommend everyone who did not watch this movie to watch it. It is a masterpiece.4
This is !dev as fuck but does anyone know something like a book recommendation engine? There are a ton for movies and anime, but couldnt find a good one for books. The best would be one where i input some books and fonds me similar ones.
Alternatively, im looking for dark fantasy books where magic is negligible and potentially has assassins in it, if anyone knows good ones.11
Just had my second interview at Freitag and it was quite fun. At the end I was talking about anime and bass playing instead of IT stuff xD
Hope I get it :D3
Had to use the pfsense's url in my Default Gateway which is 18.104.22.168 from our school.
#anime tags -blocked
#porn tags - blocked
up to 100kbps download speed
All uncensored Websites!
1Mbps download speed
Unfortunately the Network Admin found my IP and slowed down my download speed. I can search R-18 links but I don't want to be caught in his SquidProxy log. so I'm still lucky to browse my animu website.4
Used to be anime, but now I just have a tendency to hoard files (usually movies/shows)...just in case streaming services go down.
how many programmers watch anime, cause i have 3 friends who can code and they all watch anime, and if you watch anime do you have some good tips?13
So a follow up on my post yesterday, I had a brain flash.
Basically it bypasses a webpage with JS that redirects the browser on mobile browsers so I can actually get to the download page for the anime.
Before I still had to paste the starting but now I just download the anime site to get all the latest updates.
The key was actually getting the information from the page. What I realized was I don't need Title or Episode #. All I need is the URL because it's in there (at least for now). The site probably should've used ids instead but :)2
Hospital? More like i have to stop anime if i want to search for documentation because of the crap wifi.6
Am I the only one who thinks most of the people here on devRant likes anime or somewhat addicted to it?22
I’ve been fully transformed I do a weeb. I have bought Love Live! School Idol Movie. It’s friggin good.6
My life has not been changed by coding ; technically, it has changed with an anime series I loved, Code Lyoko. While it was still airing, I joined some fan forum and met someone who's now my best friend. He helped me writing my "epic games" in Batch and taught me VB.NET.
Now, I think about most stuff in my life with more rationality and people sometimes ask me how they could optimize their time (I should try to tell them to bubblesort their shelves just to see their reactions).4
I was with some friends, one a CS student and the other one's a mechanical engineer student with coding like a hobby.
I was listening to a song from which the band released the stems (individual tracks) of a song, and this dude made an anime version of it.
Me: Oh God, this is awesome
Mech: how did he do that?
Me: What? The song?
Mech: Yeah, how did he split the voice and everything, is the music like an Ajax request and he queried for the voice
Me and my other friend lock eyes and began to laugh so fucking hard.
Me: that's not how it works, why did you though that?
Mech: I don't know
When I am not motivated enough to program, I usually watch anime or read books to motivate myself to do anything. Sometimes I will play Barotrauma or Civ V too.
A github repo that you wouldn't expect today... or maybe even in your entire lifetime https://github.com/LightningJimmyJo...3
It's 20-freakin'-17. Why aren't decent internet speeds the norm yet? (And I'm not taking about rural areas, I mean near the town center). If my and a friend are both streaming a movie, I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FUCKING GIVE UP HALFWAY THROUGH JUST BECAUSE HE HAS TO KEEP PAUSING SO FREQUENTLY TO FUCKING BUFFER THE DARN FUCKING THING! WHY!? I CAN'T FUCKING FOLLOW A MOVIE IF THERE ARE CONSTANT FUCKING INTERUPTIONS EVERY TEN OR SO FUCKING MINUTES FUUUUUUUUCCK.3
It's always fun... When it's not for work...
I guess the best one was when I figured out how to make extensions and used it to create an app that can monitor websites for updates (like new anime) so I don't have to keep refreshing 😆😚
The versatility of this app is pretty amazing... 3 years now and still able to make the changes needed... and still use daily.
(Anime site changed it's layout, had to rewrite the plugin)3
I just draw for hours and play games. Sometimes I play the piano (very rarely now, idk where to progress in play by ear). Currently I'm learning spoken languages (Japanese, sorry not fan of anime, just finding something to learn, I did deutsch and russian at first but failed so yea.)
Is it just here in my school that students think if you are studying game design in college you are fat fk anime lover sh*t weaboo who play games all day :/4
I wonder if anime counts? Other than that, I just like reading teen fantasy novels and webtoons (a bit old for them :p )2
In a similar vein to @Awlex's story, I lost 800GB of anime in a disk head crash. To this day, I have no idea how it happened.
We were getting our house painted and so my anime hard drive was left untouched for about a month, and then when I tried to connect it I found the disk head had crashed.
And then, a second time when I had managed to amass another 400GB of anime and something went wrong while I was trying to delete some other folders through Ubuntu's GUI (yeah, I know) and my anime folder was accidentally shift-deleted. T-T
Now my collection is back up at 300GB and I only use command-line to delete multiple folders now.
One time, someone in my class asked for my help and sent me a file.
Pretty normal stuff, right? Well. I go to open the file. File open. It looks like a big jumble of random stuff. I looked through it, trying to figure put what it was supposed to do. No luck. So I ask him what it does. I decided while I wait I might as well try and run it to see what kind of error it gives.
It opens. And it's literally just a window that says "anime is trash".
I got a guy who was always sleeping and talking about anime and telling bullshit that he is after uni and actually did nothing useful, he was even snoring and always turning lights on, when everyone was in vampire mode , jeeeez
Can anyone give me an exercise to train programming or critical analysis?
I am really not motivated and trying to give some motivation back when I want to answer some problems.
I'm a bit getting rusty on my head due to Anime and stuff.1
At first, I didn't understand computers or internet or why is that dial up modem making noise. And then one day, I was playing with my dad's PC with games he bought and interactive CD quizzes for my studies. Something about teaching me about a Bill named Bill who sat on the steps to some court house singing how a bill becomes legal or something.
Then a few months after that I discovered internet and then a friend of mine introduced torrents, neopets and anime. Heck yeah!2
TL;DR I want to add a vcodec to FFmpeg but don't understand the how or haven't found the right resources yet.
I just learned the very basics recently and thought it is great for some automation.
For now, I want to use it to compress my anime collection. I found a modded version of HEVC (x265) for anime, which I want to include as vcodec. Unfortunately, even after researching it a bit, I don't understand how to do so. Does somebody here know how to do it?
Warning: Readme.me contains anime images
“Well maybe I can hack the old thing to work for a while longer” I think to myself.
“Oh hell this thing is a major pain in the ass to work on because of the way I hacked it together a year and a half ago. I forgot about that.”
It’s so bad looking at old projects. This morass of spaghetti code has more cringe than a weeaboo wolf whistling at a goth chick with an anime body pillow in the passenger seat of his rusted out 80’s Toyota Corolla that is not an AE-86 or 88 but he has rattled canned it to look like Initial D anyway.
Let's say you are just diplomed and got hired in a small dev company.
Let's say the company is eventually really boring, and it mainly devs with Drupal (see my profile to get my opinion about this CMS).
Let's say you leave, find a bigass society, they accept your desired pay per month, and tell you that, no, there won't be any Drupal in your future work.
Let's say that you come on monday and the first thing people ask you is to check you Drupal level, because you're going to be needed a in future projects.
What would you do?
This happened to someone who joined us this week, the dude who hired him (and no it's not a recruiter (almost sadly)) sweared him that wouldn't use Drupal, and it's been a week and he did only that. Should he just GTFO?7
1. Gaming, though I focus mostly on mainstream games and my all time favorite is deus ex series (second - TES).
2. Anime. Dragon ball was a huge part of my childhood, and today it’s still my favorite show next to one punch man.
3. Manga. I picked it up quite recently and it’s awesome, but it’s also expensive so I learned to enjoy it only while traveling. I am still reading my first one and it’s Tokyo Ghoul.
4. Embedded electronics. Again, I picked it up quite recently and really enjoying it, still working on my first project that I did with raspberry pi (iot led strip), also posted a story(rant) a while ago.
5. MTB cycling. While it’s not really that geeky, it’s my most favorite hobby I picked up last year June and since rode 1200km on mostly flats and also had my first 100km trip. This year I am planning to focus more on trails and expect learning more technical riding.3
le me wanted to watch anime after 10 hour work
"Hmm let's just open my work in a new tab"
"Wtf it's 500"
> read logs
> problem with webpack build
> after 3 hour debugging loaders, environment variables, decided to use a shady, less documented library I found in the first minute debugging called better-x instead of x i'm currently using
> fml why don't I try it earlier, 3 hours lost gg
Whenever I get free time I spend it on another nerdy hobby of mine.
Anime is trash…
And so am I…1
So when writing golang code, you can put alias into the imported library
And one of interns in my office include include our company's library called "helper/session", and alias it with 'hSession'
Now all the code which use that library has to look like "hSession.ErrUnexpected", "hSession.NewSession"
Well, i think i've played too much VN and anime, but still i'm having a good laugh when doing the code review
Why my friend learns new languages: will it get me a higher salary?
Why I learn new languages: work isn't challenging, I don't have any side projects, don't feel like binging anime...
Just started learning Scala to once again try to pick up FP paradigm.
I'm also thinking it may be better for understanding algorithms?
Yes I know I'm late to the party
Every dev team has this chatterbox guy, who works as a support, does sometimes whole work in a hour, watches anime for following 7 hours and wants to fix the whole world with JQuery. Still can't imagine working and hanging out without him.
I have been completely out of motivation for around a week now.
Like, there is nothing left.
I've done nothing but playing Minecraft Factions and watching anime for hours in the last few days.
How do I make this stop? Help please.9
So we played a game where everyone in class gets a piece of paper strapped onto his back and everybody else can write one positive thing about the person. Some people wrote anime, osu and dank memes on my back. Mfw when not even mad4
What gets me in the zone, is I need a couple of Monsters, a good anime with a good dub, and no one around. I may need a good craft beer or a shitty PBR or Rolling Rock.
Ricing newly installed Mate Desktop
In need of wallpapers (Anime/Illustration)
In need of a motivational quote too (can be sarcastic)
People who are going to roast me in the comments I know its cringe worthy and googleable. Cloning multiple repos and downloading a lot of data so please help me out5
Not entirely Dev related so sorry 'bout that, but I have some form of vacation to spend, where I'll be at home working on my thesis project and preparing my last exam (wooo almost done with the shit). Since most of my friends are away for the holidays and I'm a huge fucking nerd and also somewhat a shitty weeb, can anyone suggest some anime related with tech or coding? I know of ghost in the shell but there are so many I don't know which might suit me. I kinda prefer modern/digitalised graphic styles (common in 2012+ animes to say). Also, girl-friendly to be able to watch them with my gf is a plus but not a necessity.
