Search - "avast"
And then the protection broke and "Avast" was born .... and the broken nature has been there ever since.1
WHAT THE FUCK, AVAST!
You can't just fucking unbind chrome from my taskbar and pin your fucking trash excuse of a browser.
Reading the fucking Wikipedia article:
"It is based on Chromium, but was subsequently found to contain a serious security flaw not present in Chromium itself."
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!39
During a recruitment procedure I was provided a IDE to solve some programming questions. The computer had a bunch of fuck all anti virus including avast, mcafee, it stopped every execution and scanned it for like 10sec.
McAfee fucking deleted the program for no reason giving a malicious code alert on a normal c++ program.
I called the sys Admin to inspect, guess what he did.
Fucking uninstall McAfee. Woow.7
My Dad: "Hey since you mostly use your desktop, could I borrow your laptop for my trip?"
He just wants to play World of Warcraft but there is no way I'm going to let him have access to my PC after years of fixing his computer. Because he's my dad and helped pay for the laptopn, I can't just say no without him getting flustered so this is what happened.
Me: "Yeah sure, you'll just need to find whether or not WoW, works with a windows emulator and hunt down how to configure that."
D: "Why can't you do it?"
M: "I've never done it. Its like the price to borrow."
D: >:| "I'll ask your brother."
He did end up borrowing my brothers laptop for the trip because he was running windows and didn't have a good excuse. I just helped him uninstall the blizzard client, WoW, avast, and McAfee that was installed over the weekend.5
This is kinda funny even if the picture is in Swedish. When Avast requires the computer to restart and you can let Avast to remind you to reboot about 10 mins, 1 hour, 4 hours, 6 hours, tomorrow, next week or the best of all - next century, WOW!!
Maybe something Microsoft should implement in their Windows Update?4
So had this virus today...
Doesn't let me install avast.
Doesn't let me run cmd
Closes Firefox everytime I mention the word malware in the search
Closes IE too if I search malware
Appears out of nowhere even after I surgically remove it with Linux.
I guess I have to reinstall my OS :(11
FUCK YOU AVAST!!!!! Now it just randomly quaranteening my programs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can't even be bothered to ask!!!!!!!!!!5
I've just revived an old desktop computer today. Turns out that it was running Windows XP, Avast free antivirus, and had Bearshare as a default search engine (in other words, that thing is NOT going to be connected to my network).
But, it also had Chrome installed. So I thought to myself, with 1.25GB of RAM, there's no way that it could run Chrome smoothly. Opened it, and....
It consumed 80MB of RAM. 80 MEGABYTES. And that's not even a clean installation of it, it's a (likely) malware-infested one from a user! Compare that to the Chrome of today.21
Why is it always free anti-virus? Story.
Friend had bought a new laptop over the weekend and bought it in to our Monday morning lab session, but when he logged in he got a black screen and a mouse pointer. Hmmmm.
Me: "What did you do to this machine?"
Friend: "just installed a few normal programs like Discord, Eclipse and Avast"
I sigh. Free anti virus in my experience causes more trouble than it's worth, but how do I kill it?
Ctrl-Alt-Del and get task manager. File>run... "iexplore". Great, now I have a task manager window and internet explorer. Now I try a file:/// url, and up pops the file explorer. I switch the file explorer to control panel and uninstall Avast. The instant avast is gone, his desktop and explorer.exe pop right up.
Needless to say, he owed me one 😂11
When you forget to add your Visual Studio projects directory to the Avast exclusions and it delete it during debug...10
Trying to log in as a vendor on a client's timesheet web portal,
Web only accessible on safari,
Latest Java must be installed,
Java security must be set to highest, but Java applet for 2 very specific domain must be allowed,
An Avast antivirus must be installed for reason as below,
Must access the web, wait for applet to run and check computer's security settings, only if it's satisfactory will then redirect to a login page,
In which I spent an hour trying to figure out why I cannot login with my username, until another friend has same problem, what in common between us is both our names are long, and after experimenting, we found out that inputting only 20 characters of our name enabled us to login,
After login another tiny app will be installed and activate a VPN, in which then we are able to access the actual system,
The VPN will only active for 15-20 minutes tops, after that we will be kicked out and had to repeat the whole process,
Sometimes it works, sometimes it's not, even worse sometimes the only way to make it work again is to restart the computer, and redo the steps in exact same way
So I installed Avast because I was downloading some torrents.
After months I suddenly hear a really loud "*ping* *ping* *ping* Eine Bedrohung wurde gefunden". I nearly got a heart attack. I thought I've got a fucking maleware shitty fuck thing, but I had no idea how I could find out where the fuck it was coming from. So I ignored it.
Then, weeks later again: "*ping* *ping* *ping* Eine Bedrohung wurde gefunden", while I was browsing the web.
I thought it was coming from a website so I looked through every tab and window. But nothing.
So I googled the exact sentence it said, and voila:
The first result was from the avast support site.
I opened avast and looked into the settings. There! A checkbox to turn it off! These fucking cock suckers enabled it by default!
It was the first time I enjoyed clicking a fucking checkbox. FUCK YOU AVAST!!!
Why is AntiVirus Software so shitty these days... I'll probably just switch to Windows Defender.9
"Suggest an AV/AM product, Avast refuses to install."
I do malware research as a hobby and have for a while, so I can generally spot when something's up before I even run a program. If i'm unsure about it (or know something's up and wanna see its effects for S&Gs) I throw it into one of a variety of VMs, each with a prepped, clean, standardized "testing" state.
I see no point to AV/AM products, especially as they annoy me more than anything since they can't be told not to reach into and protect VMs (thereby dirtying up my VM state, my research, crashing the VM hypervisor and generally being *really* annoying) and they like to erase samples from a *read-only, MOUNTED* VHDX.
However, normal people need them, so I usually suggest this list:
• MBAM is good and has a (relatively) low memory footprint, but doesn't have free realtime protection.
• Avast is very good as it picks up a lot, but it eats a FUCKTON of resources. It also *really* likes to crash VM hypervisors if it sees anything odd in them.
• AVG is garbage. Kill it with fire.
• Using Windows Defender is like trying to block the rain with an umbrella made of 1-ply toilet paper.
• herdProtect is amazing as it's basically a VirusTotal client but it's web-based and not currently available to be downloaded. (Existing copies still work!)
• Kaspersky. Yes, it spied on US gov't workers. No, they don't care about anyone BUT US gov't workers. Yes, it's pretty good.
• BitDefender: *sees steam game* "Is this ransomware?"
hope this helps15
Im in the process of developing a tool for small comunity of gamers.
That tool will help people in mod making.
Currently you have to use notepad++ in order to modify .json files that contain unit properties.
I downloaded grep for win to check for patterns in those .json files to understand how they work
I ran a simple search and...
Avast decided to frezze my pc for 20min to check 300 files because winGrep accesed them...
WHY THE FUCK DID YOU DECIDE TO SATURATE MY HDD IO YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT? I HAVENT GOT ANY WIRUSES FOR 6 YEARS YOU ARE USELESS. I WILL UNINSTALL YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE JUST WASTING MY RESORUCES AND MY TIME.
I cant even reboot my laptop because i would lose my code!
Fuck slow hdd's
Fuck inefficient programs
Fuck people who thought that instaling a bunch of crap on win 10 is a good idea
Fuck people who will try to convince me to swich to linux
I love my C hashtag
I might swich to win10 ltsb7
In 3 years, my antivirus software NEVER made a sound. But I'm pretty sure I visited some nasty websites this whole time and download many viruses.
Does it mean my antivirus never worked?1
I now that this can be a sort of business, but why Avast will suggest an abonnement where you pay more at the end?
Abbonamento = Abonnement
Anno = Year
Mese = Month
Consigliato = Recommended15
How the hell do these people have a senior position?
Sdev:"The are no vulnerabilities in my code because i have Avast running at the same time"
SecOps: "<insert potoo bird reaction>"
Just caught my free antivirus software doing advertisement for another antivirus. I mean like making myself obsolete just because I'm getting the money for it? xD
Avast stoping my benchmark and reporting it to me is like a dog that proudly brings a bone to you while you walk with him on a cemetery.
I know about it before I started the benchmark so i deactivated it for 30min, but then for some reason (i may have accidently clicked on the symbol) the ui opened and everytime it does that it for some reason resets the option so it was active again. Now it deleted parts of the Software and I have a hard time making it run again. Fml and fuck monday. Why isn't there an option to make a fucking exception or remove something from their fucking virus container if it was a false alarm?6
F*** Avast, default automatically add email signature in my gmail content...
I will go for Windows Defender IMMEDIATELY!
That moment when: You're asked to quickly code a fake login screen and you have a deadline to add it to 10 devices before 2pm.
First build: Forgot to force it to be on top, forgot to add closing preventions
Second build: Due to it going on tablets, it needed an onscreen keyboard, but being on top all the time means the builtin onscreen keyboard doesn't work.
Third build: Forgot to add try and catch exceptions which caused crashes
Final build: Avast kept closing and opening it due to DeepScan
