While everyone else is talking about Firefox quantum, I'm here wishing there was a visual overhaul to Thunderbird because right now it looks like shit.17

My company just migrated our mail servers over to office365. My boss has been excited and could barely contain himself when the migration was done he was having the best day ever after he got a good deal on some new toys...Then I ruined it.
Me (setting up) > WTF!? um...well I guess I don't have email on my phone anymore. These permissions are fucked.
Him > Oh why?
Me > They are ridiculous, I won't give away this much control just to read email.
Him (panicking) > and if buy you a company phone?
Me > Not a fuck it's still a personal device. I'll just sandbox the web version.
Him > Your over reacting, they obviously need them for security blah blah...
Me (sends him the pic) > The minimum system requirement is internet.
(...silence...)
I feel kinda bad for killing his vibe - he's a nice guy and he's only trying to do right by us but now he seems down like his toy isn't shiny anymore because he respects me. I wasn't beating on the stack or his choice (mines running on thunderbird). I just can't support this trend of GOD mode permissions for email / calculator and other single feature apps. I'll use the web app instead. You have to draw the line somewhere...
On the other hand I can't deny that I'm loving the irony that Microsoft just made my life easier and have a deep sense of satisfaction that for the first time ever I got fuck up his Friday :/18 -
What the fuck man.
Why even I am working with this assholes.
Yesterday,Our technical support guy reinstalled windows(I don't mess up with technical issues because then it will be my part time job,so I show that I don't know anything about hardware).
He installed fucking 32 bit window,He was trying to installed 64 bit version thunderbird.
He wasted my whole day.16 -
Please stop pasting screenshots into Word docs and emailing them to me. What the hell is wrong with you? You are on a fucking Mac. You figured out how to grab a screen region with an obscure key combination, but you can’t figure out that you can paste them directly into Gmail, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird?7

Recently I got an E-Mail from PayPal.de with the headline "Your account gets limited". Fun Fact: I don't have a PayPal account.
This Mail got me curious though, as it couldn't be a phishing mail, since I don't have a PayPal account in the first place, so I opened the e-mail just to get greeted by pure emptiness. It was completely empty. I thought to myself "oh no, is this some sort of new trick? Did I get infected by some sort of a weird hacky backdoor trojan already?!"
Name: PayPal.de
Original E-mail Address: NULL (never seen this before)
I then realized, that Thunderbird blocked the only content from this mail: a clickable image.
This is getting even more confusing the longer I examine this unique mail. The image is showing me a domain from a site completely unrelated from PayPal, so it was obviously no phishing, but I didn't trust this clickable image, so I looked up its hidden link to find an even more confusing redirection to not a picture upload site like the image suggests, but to a game key reselling site instead, like wtf? What was the whole point of this whole e-mail? Was this a weird try to make advertisements for more than one website? It wasn't even a ref-link or something like that. It was just weird, iunno.8 -
Thunderbird UI sucks, search sucks, sending sucks, all sucks. Why cannot we have beautiful and user friendly linux mail app?23
-
Is asking for a nice email client in Linux too much?
In thunderbird, I found no way to customize the "messages pane". Title, sender, time all in one line.
In KMail, the fonts and style of HTML signature is not working as expected.
In Evolution, the fonts scaling doesn't work correctly.
Fuck me!11 -
Your Thunderbird inbox file is 8GB and you complain about the speed but still, when I fucking ask you if you want me to archive for you the fucking mails, I get a "Hell no, I don't like them archived because then they are difficult to find"... go to fuck off.

After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.04 my Thunderbird is presenting me the new font it has to render emojis in full glory (or not) when it displays Twitter summary emails which contain emojis from user messages and names.
See the full featured list in the attachment.
Yours sincerely5 -
Mozilla really knows how to nudge one to not use email encryption by default.
Since Thunderbird has native support for OpenPGP encryption, i can only chose to encrypt all or no messages by default. There is no opportunistic mode and there are no per-reciepient encryption preferences. The Enigmail addon had both.
So i obviously have gone for encrypt-by-default.
But since then, whenever i want to send a message to the majority of my contacts, i have to manually disable the encryption or get annoyed by the no-key-found dialog.
I thought, i would get the muscle memory to just disable encryption for recipients for wich i don't expect to have a key.
But they also made the GUI so i have to open a dropdown and then click on the right item to do that. All the items basically look the same, as there is no color coding or specific icon for them. The item labels are also too long for unconscious pattern recognition.
So i didn't got that muscle memory.
I now have turned off encryption by default and will probably forget to enable it for some emails wich i actually could send encrypted...4 -
I'm a terminal guy and have been using Mutt as my email client for years.
Had to use Thunderbird on a Windows machine today. Oh my god.
I'm so glad that Mutt doesn't load any "interactive" content and images. -
I installed sendgrid on my server today for the first time. Now I have several questions to you more experienced programmers.
1. Is there anything I should know about using sendgrid for server generated mails?
2. Can I still use my own configured Mail-Server (eg. for sending emails with Thunderbird?
3. How does sendgrid work?
4. Are there probably better alternatives? (I first wanted to use mailgun, but those fuckers want me to have a credit card for registration)2 -

Customer: So I have two emails and I'd like to be able to use them.
Me: Okay, I see you have both Windows Live Mail and Thunderbird...
Customer: Yeah, Thunderbird was the old one we used, we now use the Windows Live Mail, but it's always having problems.
Me: Well, Windows Live Mail isn't supported anymore, so I would recommend moving back to Thunderbird.
Customer: But that would mean I would have to get another email, right?
Me: No... *thinks for a moment* OK, imagine you have a garden hose that is connected to the main line of your house. You with me?
Customer: I guess...
Me: So the connection from your house is your email - or at least the server out on the internet. Now on the other end you have a hose splitter, and it splits off into two other hoses. Still with me?
Customer: Yeah...
Me: So on the end of the other two hoses you have two spray nozzles; one for each hose. Now one nozzle is from company A and the other is from company B. Both nozzles share some spray types on the heads, but there are a few heads on A that B doesn't have and vice versa.
Customer: OK...
Me: Those spray heads are Windows Live Mail and Thunderbird. They receive your mail from the same place, like the water, but they have different features. Does that makes sense?
Customer: I suppose.5 -
SOOO last monday I got a new MS Office and Outlook in my office. It's ugly as fuck and not as functionable as the old one we got here, and I cannot install Thunderbird or so...
But at least NIGHT THEME WUUUU -
why is outlook so fking painfull... designing a newsletter. thunderbird: shows everything fine. Outlook: brakes design complelty.
Design was made with Microsofts own Publisher, which claims to be usable for creating newsletters...
Then outlook cannot send out massmails like publisher can...
what the fuck is wrong with them! You are developed by the same fking company! How can one tool show something one way and another display it completly differently... whyyyy
(since I am not the webadmin I cannot use a fancy newsletter designer tool and integrate it into our website since we first would need to talk with the entire project about it...)8 -
Thunderbird frequently shows the spinning beachball on my Mac (OS X Lion, late 2006, 3GB RAM (max), SSD)
Is there a mail client that's current (still being patched), runs on Lion and does not suck?12 -
Thunderbird mail client switched to compact mode or a new look, so I suspected that's the announced "update that many users won't like".
Googled how to revert Thunderbird to its old UI and found that people posted that question, but 4 years ago? As yesterday's UI wasn't exactly elegant and beautiful either, I'll just get used to the new one!1 -
I need a new professional email address and i was thinking of going with an encrypted email service, do you guys have any recommendations on what to use?
My only requirement is that it needs to work with desktop email clients like Thunderbird, i am too lazy to use a web browser :)11 -
Internet searches never returning a usable result but have to be submitted nonetheless:
How to make Thunderbird beautiful3 -
Fuck focused inbox on outlook. Who thought it was a good idea? Why dose every company think they should put algorithms on everything to decide what we want to see? I want all my emails not just want outlook thinks I want to see.... Im glad I switched to Thunderbird and only have to deal with it when my colleagues emails go "missing"5

I needed to send feedback through email, so I use thunderbird as my default email client, and as soon as I hit the send button, the message failed to send, where then I’m prompted to login to my gmail account on my computer.
Hey google, go fuck yourself. Gmail on computer is a fucking piece of trash. If you had not shut down inbox just yet, then I would use that. Gmail takes like over 40 seconds to load on my computer, which is why I use thunderbird because of that. I refuse to use your horrible piece of trash website and now you want me to login again. Seriously just fuck you.
Also, I’ve been getting Chinese spam in my main inbox rather than in the spam folder ever since this COVID/coronavirus shit started. Know any better choices? I would like something that is free, as long as they don’t have an affiliation and/or partnership with google.2 -
Is it possible to add a layer of security such as a password when you use Thunderbird Mail application? So when you open it, it would require a password to proceed checking mails etc..6
