Does anyone knows a Syncing / Self Hosted Cloud Solution that has native Integration for Windows and Ubuntu?
I want some shared storage between my Laptop and my PC. Save a project on one side, grab the laptop goes to a friend and work there with the data, without uploading / downloading the files manually or using some web interface for that.
I have also a root server with stroage and internet. So if it happens automagicly in background it would be fine.
Is there a good solution out there? Or some ideas / frameworks to programm it by myself?
Diff and merges are not needed. I never will work on both systems at the same time.6 -
Weekend milestone finished... 27 minutes to late but finished. Mini Voxel Engine for a Game in Unity.
Did someone else finished a milestone this weekend also?
Show me your progress :D19 -
How many sh*t days does it need to make me down?
3 ...
I hate my company, for making everything overcomplicated and annoying.... I have to discuss with 3 peoples for 3 days to getting some gitlab premium licenses (20$ per month for 10 licenses)... Why do you need it? Why we can't use the free version? Why Why Why... It's not enough to tell them it will save us much times and improves the quality of development.....
Also I wanted to ask if we can to Jaxb or another Dev Conference this year... Then I got the information that we have about 2000 Euro for 10 people for training.......... What should we do if everyone buys a book this budget is out .... f*ck company....
Second day, half of the day was taken for fixing the live db on the fly cause of a bad structure of tables... at least fixed some other inconsistence too... later the day fixed a freaking shitty bug with Spring Devtools and 2 Classloader to make the product that I'm presenting in 2 days running.
Today next shitty day with discussion that everything I did last half year (introducing Microservices, Kubernetes, Kafka and other DevOps things) could be maybe useless when the external company will say that they use another ecosystem -..- for their microservices...
Someone looking for a disappointed java developer? I just want to develop the best product ever... I'm happy with every area... Frontend, Backend, DevOps, Fullstack, Architect in some kinds depends on the wishes and technologies.1 -
Just for information how many cults has devrant now?
- Children of Ravens?
- Pinkies?
Other ones?20 -
Why we have to wear shoes? I'd like to be barefoot... especially in summer! Vote for barefoot action!17

Spring boot does very much automagically.... but to find every possible configuration is hard....
I found out that it has an automatic config for Scheme Server... but how the fuck to configure it 😑
And do I still need avro made domain objects 🤔 it's hard to fight through all these documentations and versions of spring. 😖 -
Should a validator change his object during validation?
I want to validate the address of a person with Google geolocation api. That needs one request against their api. After then I would need the lat lng in the person object. So I would need to request again. So should the validator update the object directly when it got checked? Or is there a better solution?2 -
Why the fuck does a freaking SD card reader for arduino needs a 3v and a 5v pin...... I have no space in my project and no experience at all to handle this.... and no fucking place for batteries....
Why is every of my project like this ..... cry12 -
Revenge of the developer.
After our project consultants aren't good at planning projects I started my revenge. They will get soon a heart attack or paranoia...
Every time I need something from them (cause they missed it in the specs) and see them at the end of the floor. I stealth in their room and stand behind their door. When they are sitting, the door is closing mystically and I step to them. The faces are hilarious. That's my way to teach them to write better Specs :) -
Hey ho, some dev from Rakuten Tokyo here? Could do an application for it. Want to know if there are cool developers 🙃
But need to move from Germany to Japan and I'm a bit scared 🙁
I wished a while ago to life and work in Japan. Currently I have no real roots / bindings in Germany. Except some friends.
Should I try it or not? 😣3 -
Fixing unit-tests that expects 2017... kills my motivation at first workday this year.... I hate my coworker -..-

A little story that made me really happy. A friend and me was building stuff for fun with electronic in it.
A neighbor child (14) came over and wanted to join us and build also stuff for cosplaying. She is almost done with her stuff and waiting for the painting. My friend needed to program stuff for his arduino. She was watching him.
And now he's teaching her how to program. And she starts to understand that make me really happy to see a new little developper growing there ♡7 -
I hate to see when my code is touched by co worker and after then it looks like shit... mäh... added a task to refactor it by myself just to set a statement

Gosh only Idiots out there...
Told my coworker, to install the tomar manager on server 1. Same easiest way for him just copy it from server 2. He was already in console of the first... then I see that he opened winscp, navigating via gui to the directory miss clicked a few times. Tried drag and drop the folder to desktop. Get notified that he didn't installed the plugin. Dragged it to another folder on his pc in winscp. Started new session of winscp for the other server. And so on. I said after he started the first winscp that the command line would be 1000x faster.
Meanwhile I wrote the command for this torture on a sticky note and left the room. That wastes too much time of 2 ppls. Good old days when the most people's know how to use a console.3 -
In 7 hours I have a meeting with the big Boss CEO our company the head of heads.... I have to present the development plan to save the company (about 9000 employees).... I can't sleep cause I hate to present in general.... I fuc%$# can't get a clear mind.... I'm dieing inside >..< and I really need to sleep
wish me luck4 -
Every dammed webmail client looks like 2005. Currently I use roundcube but it looks also very old.
Someone can prefer a good webmail client for self hosting?17 -
After our Head Of Software has terminated.
I started to take control over our development crew. And in this year I did more then the old head in the last 6 years.
- Swapped from plain old SVN to Gitlab.
- Build a complete autonomous deployment with Gitlab.
- Introduced code reviews.
- Started to refactor the legacy product with 500.000 lines of code...
- learned how to use confluent apache kafka and kubernetes to split the legacy project in many small and maintainable one.(not done yet)
- Last 3 weeks I learned how to use elasticstack with kibana and co. That we aren't blind anymore. Big dashboards are now shown in the middle of the room :) and maybe convinced my coworker that we use unity3d for our business application cause of support for all devices and same design on them. And offline capabilities. (Don't know if this was my best idea)
When I look back, I'm proud to did that much in one year alone. And my coworkers are happy too that they have less work with deployments and everything.
But I can't decide what's the title for this. System or Software Architect cause I litterallity did both :/7 -
Why are whitespace called whitespace? I bet the first was displayed on consoles with black or green backgrounds.2

Not directly a rant by me, but it would be a rant if my co worker would write it.
So lets the story start. Today my coworker wanted to see my new smartphone. And one of them is a little troll. After I unlocked he shouted "Ok Google call 666666"...
Lucky for me, my phone didn't respond. 10 minutes later he wrote me, that his phone is calling 666666 for 10 minutes xD.
There are about 20€ gone.

It would be much easier when a NullPointerException would log also what is null. Instead of just the line.... with multiple possibilities........5

Definitely 'ditto' this is one of the best tool for every programmer.
It's a multi clipboard-history where you can store more then one item. You never need to think: 'what's last thing in my clipboard. Do I still need it?'1 -
What should I do, I have a central function that is not documentated and no test-cases are written for it. I have no clue what the method should really do, I know that it works in 99.9% of all cases otherwise we had much more bugs. Now there is one Unit-Test that reports an issue. I tracked it down to this method, no one touched the method nor the unit-test.
My logical thinking says that there is one statement missing, but it could also fuck up another part of the code... (This project has a bad testing coverage :'( )
What would you do?
- copy paste the method for this special case (I would hate me so much for breaking DRY)
- inheritance?! (Would make it more complex and then it would be still untested / undocumented)
- YOLO changing oO?! (hope for luck, just joking)
P.s it's an edge case unit test, the client / customer probably wouldn't realised it if it happens -
Why the hell you write test¿ if you can write 8h a day perfect working code, everyday, without a mistake?
You just waste time doing that...

I am scared :< every day our boss comes in and blames someone that he did some shit.... He Never came to me... maybe he think I'm not working... Should do some issues too or I get fired :O3
