Started working as a developer about 2 months ago and on the first day of of work I was tought how to make coffee.
I couldn't understand why is coffee so important to the everyone in the company. I didn't drink the coffee for the first 2 week.
Now after many sleepless nights spent coding i then realise why the people worship the drink so much.
People get very pissed when they go to coffee machine and find that there is no coffee then the last person to have a cup is going to be shouted at and at times even get insulted.
Now coffee is my fuel and cant do much without it.6 -
If i had a dollar for each time I promised myself to actually work, I wouldn't have to work for the rest of my life...3

The first PC I was exposured too. At the begining I was just playing games, but then I learned about BASIC and was intrigued enough to start typing the sample source codes which was listed in popular sience magazines.But when I run a simple pong game which was written as 2 player game and decided to make my first AI to play against me which at my first attempt got so perfect that I got not chance to win and then slowed it's reactions so I can actually enjoy playing against it and win some times... well that's the moment I got really hooked.

Hi all,
This might be a long post so bear with me. I work for a company and there was a project for a huge client. I'm junior in skill (been programming for about two years) but my job title doesn't reflect that. Anyways, I got the design about a month ago but I was on deadline for two other projects so I couldn't pick it up until last week Wed. Ironically, that's when the final design was delivered & told me it was due next week Wednesday. I built it as fast as I could. Finished mobile but for some reason, this last part for desktop just wasn't working out and it just so happens to be the most crucial part of the piece. (I was also sick the entire time and didn't sleep for the last two days nor did I eat). I was supposed to demo it yesterday but I still needed to make a few updates and the project coordinator took me off the project & gave it to a dev with more experience. This has never happened to me before. I'd go as far as to say this is my first big fuck up. I've always delivered on deadline and I'm taking this pretty hard. Has anyone been in similar situations? What do I do? Any advice?1 -

they gave me my assestment results on todays interview ( american company w/ many red flags... ) : 89% with avg. 54%
for context : it was 40 questions for 20 mins. like many of them was how many of the pics are exactly the same and what is the next in the sequence ( not a single dev related )
finished them with about 2 mins left =]3 -

I have some (probably unjustified) prejudices to it - I find it rather visually unattractive. But it seems to me also that it boosts productivity.

I just can't...the boss just told me that we don't need to make sure that the user is logged in order to make a subscription payment...I tried ( in 3 diff ways )... but his reponse was :
- don't worry, we will figure it out later
now I can't properly finish the task and have to remove the force login... so if the user is not logged he just give us his money for nothing...
then after some tume will come the next dev and will start curse me...19 -
btw I made an instagram account dedicated for my tangram designs ( I do a new one each day for the gf to guess ( w/o the weekends 4 her ) and tought I might as well share them with the not so big world ).
Almost all of them are made by me ( I do copy some from the net if I got lazy or forget to make a new one ( I do them the previous day ) ) so hopefully some of them are not on the net already

Started my very first (summer) job as an IT agent in customer service for my city less than two weeks ago and finally moving out from the formations to answer the phone alone.
I must've listened to around 30 calls and already there's stories I could make tales of.

I had used 1-st b/c IMHO it's more dynamic and easy to maintain and call ( especially when there are many params, most of which not used on each call )
and my colleague didn't liked it w/h his main arguments that one can not easily see the needed params and no default vals for them ( the latest could be easily corrected in the function body ). I'm curious to read your opinions, arguments & contra arguments for each aproach12 -
Eternal rest doesn’t help. I had the privilege to experience it once, but it’s only recently that I had a chance to reflect on it. Yes, when I have everything figured out and slip into neet lifestyle, I don’t find happiness.
Sooooo, I decided to establish a solid routine. It was Past Life by Tame Impala that inspired me: “I have a pretty solid routine these days, it just works for me”. I wanna be that person.
Here’s mine so far:
- Mon: ironing clothes
- Tue: revising laptop/phone contents, eliminating infoclutter
- Wed: tidying up online presence
- Thu: writing my book, at least one section at a time
- Fri: coding for personal projects that do/can make me money (I have three now)
- Sat: cleaning up the house, changing bedsheets
- Sun: rest1 -
Fellow dev: I need a new car at the same time am planning to wed. My cash can't cater for both.

I love automating things and tomorrow I will finish automating yet another repetitive work freeing not only IT stuff but some admins and moderators too. It feels satisfying but at the same time w/ each next automation I am going closer to the moment where I'll no longer be needed...
but then again I have to hop before that moment...just need to sacrifice some of my free time and start poking the market again...

I keep getting emails from people I don't know that are like conversations, leading me to believe they aren't sent to the rightful owner. Most of the time, I see the email has uppercase at some places (when mine doesn't).
I just wish the companies could put a mark somewhere in their page when entering an uppercase email that mentions the fact that it doesn't change shit, getting really annoyed from receiving these mails not directed to me 😒 -

I just finished a test task which was almost a whole project...
actually just 2 forms but some of the requirements were such that if I don't implement user registration and login and what not I can't make it to work the desired way... plus there was some point where I need to inform the user that he is giving too much money... and yeah, do they want it to have integrated payments too?
the time limit was 2 hours... and I'm new to their framework, so I did the 2 forms and the listing of the 1st db rows as wanted below one of the forms and sent them the result asking for clarifications and more time
do you get such test tasks ( I mean with a lot of things for that short amount of time )?3 -
