Boss: “Our YouTube channel doesn’t look at all like our website.”
Me: “I’ve made it look as close to our branding as YouTube allows for with its limited editing controls.”
Boss: “This is unacceptable. I expected more from you.”
Me: “I cannot accept the blame for this. YouTube is setting the design parameters for all channels and I can only do so much.”
Boss: “You can call the YouTube, can’t you? Why didn’t you call them?”
Me: “.......and ask them....what?”
Boss: “You don’t ask! You tell! Our company has been around for 140 years. Our brand name carries that weight. They’ll change their design to what we need if you’re assertive enough.”
Me: “Ma’am, that’s just not how this works. That’s not how any of this works.”50 -
Welcome to the internet of 2019 after Article 13!
FUCK ARTICLE 13
MOST OF THE MEMBERS OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT WHO VOTED FOR ARTICLE 13 ARE OLD PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL USING KEY MOBILE PHONES AND HEARD OF THIS THING CALLED "INTERNET" ONCE IN THEIR LIFE.
THIS "INTERNET" ("Neuland") CAN'T BE THAT IMPORTANT, JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T USE IT IN YOUR FREE TIME?
I literally can imagine what the European parliament members think:
"The people will like it i guess!"
"What, you can chat with other people in the internet? NEVER HEARD OF THAT."
"I don't understand this 'Memes'. It is not funny and i don't like it!"
"My sons always much too long on his computer, this 'Internet' can't be good!"
I am sorry for the rage, but i just can't believe that people, who maybe mostly have never dealt with the internet, are destroying the future of self-fulfillment and free resources for everyone.
YouTube will start deleting channels who are not big enough, who are not sponsored or made by a big company. They will just delete them. And videos from out of the European union won't be able to be watched in Europe. Big companies will gain power over the internet(I know the partly already have much). Educational sites like Wikipedia and YouTube for example will die, but hey, FUCK MY LIFE!!!
FUCK MY FUTURE!!!
FUCK FIRST WORLD DEVELOPMENT!!!
WHY NOT JUST GO BACK TO THE STONE AGE???
FUCK OUR CITIZENS JIIIIHAAA!!!
"Nah i never needed YouTube. Or Facebook" + (we can talk about this one) + " Or Instagram. I never saw someone of my friends using it."
FUCK !!!

So my manager (a 29 y/o, who hardly can use a mac) walks towards me with a hint of panic in his eyes.
Manager: Hey commander keen, do you know how to use vertical look up in excel, I've tried, and looked at tutorials.
Me: yeah I really don't know excel (and not willing to learn, especially on the fly), I don't even have excel installed, I can write I script that does what you want.
Manager: No you have enough on your plate
3 hours later
Manager: hey I still can't figure it out, could you solve it with a script, won't that take to long
Me: no send me the files, Ill do it with a script.
I start writing 2 for loops and wait for the file, 10 ish minutes later its basicly done, just need to put in the column indexes.
I send a message on both slack channels (hey are you going to email or slack me the file)
After a hour I walk to his desk and again ask him for the file.
Manager a good 2 hours later on slack: Hey I just send you the file, I hope its not to much work, it has to happen asap.
So if you have kids, and they are not that bright by some kind of birth defect, don't worry, they can always become a manager.
But you can't get me down today. I hit 2000 upvotes and the employer is unknowingly a proud sponsor for reading and writing all these rants and comments :-) thnx devrant8 -
I just started playing around with machine learning in Python today. It's so fucking amazing, man!
All the concepts that come up when you search for tutorials on YouTube (you know, neural networks, SVM, Linear/Logic regression and all that fun stuff) seem overwhelming at first. I must admit, it took me more than 5 hours just to get everything set up the way it should be but, the end result was so satisfying when it finally worked (after ~100 errors).
If any of you guys want to start, I suggest visiting these YouTube channels:

So, as everyone knows on here by now (or, a lot of ranters), I am a fervid privacy person.
Appearantly a new surveillance law in my country is about to extend mass surveillance/hacking a lot. So here a rundown of what they are about to be allowed to do (stuff that is not okay imo and this is the reason I am so pro-privacy):
- Mass Data Gathering: The intelligence agency over here (lets call it IA from now) can pretty much record everything send through the country.
- Extra Protection: If they want to conduct surveillance on journalists/lawyers, they have to go through extra channels first at least.
- Data/survaillance sharing: The IA is allowed to share their raw/filtered data with foreign intelligence agencies without limits. Also, they're allowed to conduct surveillance based on foreign requests.
- Secret DNA database: A secret DNA database will be created which can store the DNA profiles of any person who has commited any kind of crime. These profiles are allowed to be stored for a maximum of 30 years. This database is allowed to be shared with any foreign intelligence agency.
- Hacking: Unlimited power to hack any device deemed neccesary to hack in relation to crime. From computers to smartphones and so on. Also, it's allowed to use zero-days without reporting them to the vendor (we have seen what can go wrong with that through the ShadowBrokers scandal).
- Automatic Database Collection: They are allowed to directly tap into any database they see required (banks, healthcare, messaging services and so on). Practically this can lead to backdoors being build in because if you don't cooperate, you can go to prison. (mother of god I am not using anything closed source anymore if possible).
So yeah, this is pretty much the reason why I am so privacy consious. This country is fucked.57 -
*CTO in panic, as always, invites everyone to the war room*
CTO: We have a MAJOR problem where 0.0001% of our customers are not receiving SMS confirmations.
Me: Cool. But, 0.0001% is very less compared to the other problems we are solving.
CTO: You don't understand, this is critical issue that needs to be addressed immediately.
Me: But even those.0.0001% customers are receiving e-mail confirmations, so this is not even blocker as we have other channels working.
CTO: I am emotional at this point. You need to prioritise this now.
Me: Okay, do we know the root cause of this problem?
Engineering head: we have blacklisted those numbers in past as our system detected them abusing our platform.
Me: Cool. Let's whitelist them, nothing much to worry here.
CTO: Floyd, you need to understand that 0.0001% of the customers are not receiving the SMS and the solution you are proposing is incorrect.
Me: Okay, what do you suggest?
CTO: We stop sending the SMS to all the customers.
Everyone on the call: 😨17 -
Gotta say, I find it awesome that I can connect with some devRanters through encrypted channels.
It's awesome to talk to devRanters with the same mindset through channels that offer a very high level of security/privacy.
Thanks!33 -
This is to dfox and trogus. I think that a lot of devRanters are very happy with the support option! Although i hate Google pretty much i made a very unlikely exception for you because i would love to support the social network where i, next to being able to rant and be among fellow devs, met quite some very nice devs with whom i still am in touch with through slack and some encrypted channels. Thanks for this awesome place and I'm proud to be a supporter 😃7

Back the mid 90s at secondary school, a friend came back from holiday with a Casio CMD-40 TV remote control watch. It was like magic, no one had never seen anything like it before.
We pranked our history teacher so badly, changing the channels, volume and turning the TV off while we were supposed to be watching some video on Henry VIII or something (no idea, too busy PMSL).
We'd pass the watch round the class to keep em guessing.
In the end, school replaced ALL the TVs and were seriously pissed off, to this day I believe they had no idea it was us!

Coding has impacted my life the biggest by having 'scrum' meetings with my family over dinner. I start with..
"What did you do today?"
"What are you doing tomorrow?"
and variations of (depending on the responses from the first questions)..
"Anything I can help with?"
It really opened up the channels of communication with my family. It's not unusual for dinner to take up to an hour.
Quite the contrast of my childhood where dinner was a "better to be seen than heard" experience and eating fast and leaving the table was a competition with my siblings.5 -

In Germany we have some TV channels that everyone has to pay 17€ a month for even if he does not own a TV, since it's supposed to be free press. Well guess what they still post ads and every journalist's story get's filtered through 5 comittees. This whole thing is so anti open source, anti freedom, corrupt and stupid. No wonder more than 4 Million just don't pay this shit.20

Do managers not fucking understand that Jira is meant to eliminate all this stupid "What's the status with X?", and "Is Y done yet?" chatter. Our communication channels should be on business logic and other global updates about the company, not about fucking workflow status updates because you have nothing else to do with your day but ping me every 5 minutes.
LOOK AT THE REVIEW COLUMN ON JIRA. I MEAN ITS LITERALLY CALLED REVIEW. SO REVIEW IT AND DO YOUR FUCKING JOB.
I swear the devs consistently have a better overview on timelines and project status than management does - which is sad, because this is literally the definition of management!!!17 -
Setup Slack integration with SQL Server to feed realtime reports to channels....the company estimated this would take 1 week, I did it in 1 hour. Boom. Suck it.6

I love Linux, but its community can be so full of incompetent assholes..
Just now I asked in Freenode ##linux how to get the process ID of my current running process in bash. I got my answer - it's a shell built-in called "$$".
Then people start to nitpick some more - why do you need it? How is that different from an exit? - to which my response was.. well I know the whole idea behind exit codes, and I'd use it whenever possible, in all defined behavior that allows my program to terminate itself whenever it can. This pidfile however would be used to exit itself and provide diagnostic information whenever the program enters undefined behavior - a segfault in C language. Scenarios in which I don't have full control over the script's behavior anymore, such as the system entering an unworkable state where the system stalled, still got some binaries in RAM but the rootfs got unwritable, such as now - very helpfully, thanks HP! - when my laptop likely overheated and shat itself. I issued sudo reboot into it, but even that wouldn't issue properly anymore due to the /sbin/poweroff binary becoming inaccessible too. I had to issue a hard power cycle.. one of the few times in which I'm thankful to HP for actually causing shit like this, lol.
Point is, that undefined behavior is what I'm trying to mitigate against. I certainly can't let any files other than diagnostics remain in nonvolatile storage like that, especially when their state should be predictable in order to ensure good operation (like files expressing whether the script is already running or not, i.e. lock files).
Back to that IRC chat. Aside from the answer, I got ridicule from people who probably don't even know how to properly compile a kernel. Ubuntu users, overconfident scum. Sometimes I feel like I should ask questions in channels like #archlinux only, where such incompetency is ridiculed on its own.13 -
Alright, so my previous rant got a way better response than I expected! (https://devrant.io/rants/832897)
Hereby the first project that I cannot seem to get started on too badly :/.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT PROMOTING PIRACY, I JUST CAN'T FIND A SUITABLE SERVICE WHICH HAS ALL THE MUSIC I WANT. I REGULARLY BUY ALBUMS. before everyone starts to go batshit crazy regarding piracy, this is legal in The Netherlands for personal use. I think that supporting the artists you love is very good and I actually regularly pay for albums and so on but:
- I want all the music from about every artist in my scene. Either on Deezer or on Spotify this is not available and I'm not gonna get them both (they both have about half of the music I want). Their services are awesome but I'm not going to pay for something if I can't listen to all the music I like, hell even some artists (on deezer mostly) only have half their music on there and it's mostly not better on Spotify.
- I'd happily buy all albums because I love supporting the artists I love but buying everything is just way too fucking much."Get a premium music streaming subscription!" - see the first point.
You can either agree or disagree with me but that's not what this rant is about so here we go:
The idea is to create a commandline program (basically only needs to be called by a cron job every day or so) which will check your favourite youtube (sorry, haven't found a suitable non-google youtube replacement yet) channels every day through a cronjob and look for new uploads. If there are, it will download them, convert them to MP3 or whatever music format you'd like and place them in the right folder. Example with a favourite artist of mine:
1. Script checks if there are any new uploads from Gearbox Digital (underground raw hardstyle label).
2. Script detects two new uploads.
3. Script downloads the files (I managed to get that done through the (linux only or also mac?) youtube-dl software) and converts them to mp3 in my case (through FFMPEG maybe?).
4. Script copies them to the music library folder but then the specific sub-folder for Gearbox Digital in this case.
You should be able to put as many channels in there as you want, I've tried this with the official YouTube Data API which worked pretty fine tbh (the data gathering through that API). The ideal case would be to work without API as youtube-dl and youtube-dlg do. This is just too complicated for me :).
So, thoughts?43 -
Somebody asked on how to get started on Full Stack web application development.
This is how I got started.
Client side Web Application Development:
---------------------------------------------------------------
• Start with basic HTML, CSS and JS, JSON. For quick learning, see W3Schools for these topic or YouTube it.
• Get a local web server. "200 OK!" webserver chrome extension is a good start. (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/...)
• Learn Chrome Dev Tools to debug the pages. YouTube it.
• Get a good IDE. I am very happy with VSCode. You can use it for very serious WebApps.
• Start learning JavaScript language in depth, but just related to Web Browser related topic or you would get sucked in server side too early.
• Install node.js. Learn NPM package manager. Learn basic node commands.
• Learn complexity of JS file referencing, JS modules in browser. Just learn, don't use it yet, to understand the benefits of code bundlers.
• Learn Webpack code bundler.
• Learn how to make you simple site much faster and using in Mobile using "Progressive Web Apps".
• Now learn to make modular UIs. I love React. Focus on getting the UI code modulear. Create Single Page sites. (You are not there yet to create a Web App) “Create-React-App” started kit is a good starting point.
• Learn to create multi-page site using React-router.
• Learn application state management using Redux.
• Learn to create application decision engine using Redux-Saga.
Practice and master each stage.
Along above, learn git / GitHub (to learn from others code), find good web resources like Medium / Smashing magazine, good YouTube channels etc. I subscribed to some popular Udemy courses too.
Server side Web development:
------------------------------------------
:) First learn client side Web Application development. Server side learning is another story.3 -
OMG. I accidentally click into my own name on the Slack DM list, and what wonderful resource did I just find? HOW LONG have I been ignoRANT of this wonderful repo for my fave .gif contributions to project channels???!?!?!?

So... I've seen my dad talking a lot about quantum computers, and it's getting quite embarrassing to be there when he talks about them. He doesn't understand shit about them, except that they somehow use quantum mechanics for something.
Last week my uncle from Spain visited us. He's a Cristian pastor, and a cool guy, so they always talk about god and similar themes. We gathered the family to have a dinner with my uncle as he only was going to be one day with us. This is how part of the dinner went by:
" so, <Uncle's name>, have you heard about quantum computers?"
me thinking:*Oh my God. Please not again... *
"The nasa, the US government and all kinds of powerful entities are getting the quantum computer."
He always talks about THE quantum computer as if it was just one big machine.
"They have found that multiple universes exist through it. If this is what they are telling us, imagine how far they've gone. Remember that technology is always 8 years ahead of actual public technology."
Me:*please dad, stop. Who the fuck is made that claim and how many fucking years ago?*
"Did you know that many people remember that Mandela died in prison, while in the oficial version, he died after it? They must be messing with multiple universes, or multiple timelines are getting intertwined."
Me: *please, not the mandela effect again*
Then my dad procceded to talk about multiverses and how THE quantum computer was the future and about some parts of the Bible that supported it. Bizarre, I know.
When we are alone, I always try to tell him how things actually work but he always twists my claims to support his. Last time I told him that the mandela effect was perfectly explainable by psychological phenomena around forgotten memories. But this is going to far... Fuck the guys that made zeitgeist. Fuck Alex Jones. Fuck random youtube conspiracy channels. They make technology look like fucking magic for muggles.10 -
Bind's top {number} dev tools to make your 2018 easier!
//note 0: feel free to add your own
//note 1: no ides, only stuff thats useful for everyone
0) vscode, it got significantly better after the latest updates and is very versatile
1) gitkraken, now i use sourcetree because of the jira integration but kraken is available for linux too so
2) scaleway, they provide really cheap servers for whatever you want, easy to install images (docker too)
3) protonmail, an encrypted mail service that works a lot better than gmail (tutanota is a close 2nd but has a weeb name)
4) telegram, if you can, tell your team to ditch slack, because telegram is a lot more lightweight and even if you dont, just the channels make it worth giving it a shot
5) steemit, a blockchain based website where the users write the articles, you can find some good reads there (and photography if you like that stuff)
6) a dildo because it wouldnt be a bindview content without out of context penile objects16 -
Family:
- I pressed a wrong button on my TV remote and now I can't switch channels. Can you fix it? You're pro with computers.
- Can you set the clock in my car?
- You should change workplace to be closer, for example the <random factory name here> needs a new system administrator.
Me:
- Yeah, ok, I'll check that TV, then the car, and no, I shouldn't work for a company as a system administrator, I'm a developer.
Family:
- You can learn while working, it's similar.
Me: *facepalm* -
Coolest thing I’ve built solo?
Damn, there’s been a lot of things over the years, but I guess the most used one I’ve made would be my voice activated tv remote - yes it’s real.
So in essence it’s a google home... yea I know spyware and all, but look it was free so I’m going to make use of it... err where was I, oh yea.
An IFTTT account which taps into the google assistant API and creates a webhook, although the authentication side of things is 0 to none, so had to put a api-key into the requests to at least have some layer of auth.
This webhook then hits a raspberry pi containing a PHP API to accept and authenticate the request in, digest this into KEY commands for the TV, and drops this into a Python script to connect to the TV over a web socket connection ( I found python more stable for this ) and sends the pre made key requests, it can even do multiple keys at a time... that was a pain.
So after all that, the end game becomes about a second from saying “hey google, change the tv channel to xxx”
This sick and twisted contraption is finished and the tv is my little bitch.
This has been built out to handle channels by name, number, volume up/down, sources switching to hdmi, tv, vga and a bunch of other things.
The things we do when we can’t find a tv remote for days....
Next up, getting it to launch Netflix app and going to a specified show / episode.. but may be to adventurous. -
1. Being the only single wringable neck to keep 40+ websites afloat, plus 3-5 new ones coming in or being built each month all with an overseas team that uses Google Translate to communicate and who are also in an active war zone.
2. Being fired for being “too old” in my mindset about how to do things. I had just turned 40 and my boss was 24 and distracted by all the shiny frameworks when all the marketing person needed was a simple off-the-shelf CMS-based site to publish company offers.
3. Jumping into the middle of a HUGE clusterfuck of thousands of Slack channels, wikis, and Jiras and an outmoded content management system while trying to learn the ropes from a guy who has no time to teach properly and then who abruptly leaves the company with scant documentation on everything that he held mainly in his own head. And there was no way I.T. was going to allow him to have the ability in Zoom to make a video of his training sessions, for no discernibly good security reason at all.
4. Working for only 9 months at two separate companies for two separate frat dudes who could have been clones of each other and whose egos made them into seagull managers* in every sense.
5. Being told by a new employer that they’re hiring me to be the head of their new web team only to find myself shuttled off to obscure contractor roles at MegaCorp Inc and AcmeCorp Inc.
I have 17 more years of this shit ahead of me before I can retire.
*If you haven’t heard of this: Someone who flies in, makes a lot of noise, shits all over everything, and flies out leaving everyone else to clean up the mess.2 -
My best case "Deploy Bittersweet Pipeline":
Prep a bunch of carrots, cucumber and tomatoes for day snacks. Roll & cut some pasta noodles, cook stock with fresh veggies & mushrooms, add some droopy soft boiled egg(s) to the broth, drizzle in some black garlic hot sauce. Enjoy that breakfast with an unsweetened Australian flat white and a half-liter cup of chai spiced green tea. Watch some science/tech/woodworking/cooking YouTube videos while feeding my Bittersweet Jr girl.
(yeah my mood is determined for about 90% by food)
Fire up docker compose & IDEs, and start refactoring code and migrating/fixing old databases.
My worst case "Fatal Incident Bittersweet Repair & Recovery Process":
Stuck while refactoring the worst kind of trash code since 9am.
Pour a glass of Tawny Port at 9pm. Pour a glass of cognac at 11pm. Unwrap 3 chocolate bars and break them into chunks in a bowl. Look at IDE, get nauseated, not from the booze or chocolate, but from the code.
Can't fall asleep because code is too broken, that crap should simply not exist. Take some LSD and amphetamine, can't sleep anyway. Start splitting several 10k-line-long files into smaller classes, type until my fingers have blisters. Empty two bags of Doritos, order a large Falafel with extra garlic sauce at 4am.
Fall asleep at 5am with my face on my keyboard, wake up at 9am with keyboard pattern on my skin.
Cook some hangover noodles.
Call work that I'm taking 3 days off. Feed Bittersweet Jr while I watch some YouTube channels with her. Bittersweet has successfully rebooted.1 -
That moment when you work the whole day to write a discord bot from scratch. No discord.py and other wrappers. Pure websockets, oauth2, https, json loads here and there. Understanding how the discord API works was a real challenge, but I did it :).
Most of my time was spent on discord's gateway connection and identification system.
The bot can renew its token, get all the guilds it is part of, all the channels and users of these guilds, send message and communicate with the gateway.
Tomorrow I will start connecting it to a voice channel and let it "speak". Thinking of combining text-to-speech with it, but I am not sure how well they are going to harmonize together.5 -
When I was about 10 I tried to make a basic midi sequencer/synthesiser using just the python standard library.
The only sound production there was was winsound.beep, which played a sine wave at the frequency given.
I realised that if I put enough really short beeps together I could make some mildly convincing instruments - I remember an electric piano, acoustic guitar, some kind of bass synth, and maybe more?
Then I put them together to make a song. The problem was though that you can't play multiple notes together as winsound.beep was blocking (though I didn't understand that at the time).
I had no knowledge of threading or async so I opened multiple python interpreter instances to play multiple channels. That's how I learnt about command-line arguments!
But I really struggled to get the sounds to be in time because python is not exactly rapid.
I made a kind of note sequencer using a library called easygui, based on tkinter (TCL wrapper), and I remember being told off at school for bringing in a usb stick with the exe of my program that I made with py2exe.
So many old technologies and fond memories...2 -
My manager wonders why I don't respond to people in a timely fashion.
I'm watching 83 Slack channels and private messages, I get 45 emails an hour, I'm on-call, and I have 125 servers to monitor.
Number of Jira tickets I received in the last 3 days? One single fucking ticket.
Open a damn ticket and I'll shove you to the bottom of the backlog, just like everybody else... I mean, I'll be able to track your request and not loose it.6 -
You know those youtube channels that just read r/askreddit threads word by word? Yeah i fucking hate them so im automating that shit.
This is how far im right now, the images and voices are generated, now just have to somehow grab some vlog music randomly and automate video creation.

It's Friday night, I live alone.
Little bit of vodka, little bit of light reading of channels (the django web sockets interface), NOONE running about the apartment, all is quiet.
Bliss.

This isn’t gonna be a random because I do eventually get to a Tech and YouTube related topic.
YouTube is actually killing itself with all of the dumbass rules they’re implementing. Trying to child proof or limit educational content is genuinely a shit policy. The reason so many gaming channels are switching to twitch because it doesn’t try to censor you.
But now I don’t know if you’ve heard but YouTube updated their guidelines and they’re no longer allowing content that teaches people about Hacking essentially (and I hate putting it like that but I can’t remember the exact words they used Hacking just summarizes it) which is fucking ridiculous like what the fuck else, are they gonna stop allowing lock picking videos?
YouTube has always been an amazing FREE resource for people learning Programming, Cyber Security, IT related fields, and even shit like lock picking, cooking, car stuff, and all that stuff. Even sometimes when the tutorials aren’t as detailed or helpful to me they might be exactly what someone else needed. And Cyber Security can be a difficult topic to learn for free. It’s not impossible far from it, but YouTube being there was always great. And to think that a lot of those could be taken down and all of the Security based channels could either lose all revenue or just be terminated is terrifying for everyone but more so them.
A lot of people and schools rely on YouTube for education and to learn from. It’s not like YouTube is the only resource and I understand they don’t want to be liable for teaching people that use these skills for malicious purposes but script kiddies and malicious people can easily get the same knowledge. Or pay someone to give them what they want. But that’s unfair to the people that don’t use the information maliciously.
It’s the same for the channels of different topics can’t even swear and it’s ridiculous there’s so many better options than just banning it. Like FUCK kids nowadays hear swearing from their older siblings, parents, friends, and TV it’s inevitable whether someone swears or not and YouTube is not our parents, they aren’t CBS, so stop child proofing the fucking site and let us learn. Fuck.
TLDR YouTube is banning educational hacking videos and are being retarded with rules in general16 -
Articles 13 and 11 pass exactly during the world cup, so news channels won't report on it coz they're too busy showing Ronaldo's goal for the 376th time9

I left my previous company because my tech leadership was insensitive and agressive.
However, I am in a start-up right now and CTO is a nut job.
He creates random Slack threads and keeps messaging me like crazy. The co-founders have shut him down multiple times and yet his only success metric is "number of deliveries".
The other day something broke in production and teams were discussing about resolving the bug in one of the Slack channels.
CTO literally wrote this and I wish I was making this up, "let us not look at the logs and trust our code to work fine."
I was baffled and confused. I realised me leaving my previous organisation because of such tech leadership was a stupid decision.
Crows are black everywhere.5 -
My job feels (and acts) like a soulless void.
Wow, that sounds like lyrics to an emo song for adults. screw that.
But it's still pretty accurate: While I have quite a few coworkers, and they're at least somewhat chatty, they never seem to respond to me, or even notice me. I see them talking, but anything I do or say gets ignored. It goes into the void and disappears.
I talk in the off-topic channels. People talk around me.
I make comments on releases. No responses.
I talk about music I've been addicted to. No responses.
I talk about food and cooking -- a popular topic at work. No responses.
I respond to an invitation to join the security team. No responses. (well, an empty deferral)
I release various features, some both my boss and a coworker described as "soul-crushing." No thanks, priase, appreciation; honestly, no one even seemed to notice.
I build useful utilities and functions for other devs to use. Nothing.
I optimize the scripts everyone uses on a daily basis, and mention it to others. Still nothing.
The void eats my efforts, and occasionally spits out parcels of work for me to do. The only responses I recieve from the void are when I ask about its parcels of work. When I send them back completed, nothing happens -- unless they need more work. If they do not... nothing.
My previous job was friendly and nice and rewarding.
The job before that was Hell.
This one feels like Purgatory, but ... somehow emptier.rant this doesn't help my burnout this doesn't help anything. the void this doesn't help my depression10 -
Workplace starts using slack (or other chat app);
Now you can use channels: now your inbox has inboxes and you don't know where to look.
Now channels support threads: now your inboxes have inboxes have inboxes.
1,000 books on productivity and research show how important deep work is and time boxing your email:
Now your inboxes that have inboxes thst have expect your attention every moment of the day.. And I still don't know where to look.3 -
Setup git push notifications (to each of their own channels), together with automatic deployment via webhook, though I'll add notifications to that too, as it currently doesn't have any besides the log file.
Gitea really has been a blast for me to finally get all things git - done, maybe because it is just so lightweight.6 -
So my story has some little backstory.
I got into computers and technology because of my dad. He was very enthusiastic when I was little and when I grew older and started my apprenticeship as a software developer he was really proud. Note that he never learned anything like that. He just loved computers and games.
Now to the story itself.
I learned more and more, also about networking and came to the conclusion that our slow internet and rare internet problems probably come from stock/weird configurations. But my dads proud probably told him thats a thing he still has to do as the dad. But it annoyed me so much that I booted into kali linux, loaded an exploit to get the web admin passwort and cracked it within a minute. 😎
Finally I was able to configure everything correctly ( channels were spammed from neighbours so I switched to very unused and the disturbions got less ).
TL;DR: Dad didnt want me to configure our router and didnt give me the admin password, so I booted Kali Linux and used an exploit to get it myself 😎😎3 -
Those channels on YouTube that read Reddit posts, except they don't and they just copy paste text into Cepstral to have a robot voice. Effortless! I am going to make a SIMPLE Python script that makes those very same videos except at 10x the speed to show how easy it really is!8

Yay !!
Sleep no more with my ultimate awakinator ! (Which is a python script
That wakes up the system and plays alarm till I enter 'ok I'm awake' , then he'll play a video form YouTube channels I defined)
Awesome !!! ^ ^9 -
I didn't think I'd be able to contribute but today proved me wrong.
I'm a front end dev, and I'm the marketing department's go-to in IT (read: I'm their bitch :[ ) The digital marketing guy pinged me today saying he wanted to see if there's a way he could avoid having the president ask him about a task he supposedly did months ago: implement a glossary on our website and index its pages.
Turns out he hasn't done that task at all because he disagreed with the president's decision to even have a glossary.
Fast forward to now, and the president is asking how the glossary is doing. Cue my coworker sending me messages asking how he can avoid having to index the pages now, as well as not get in trouble for not having done it but saying he did.
So in summary: he did not do a job the president told him to do, he lied and said that he had done it, he is avoiding talking to the president about it, he is trying to get me to help him get out of it and cover his tracks, AND he just admitted it in company channels of communication.
Next time, just index the glossary, dude. We all get handed work tasks we don't want to do.4 -
Everyone is remote working and executives keep telling non-technical to push their communications into shared channels in Microsoft Teams.
It forces analysts and managers to ask questions plainly. They are getting developer input quickly so aren’t wasting time on in-person meetings. The higher ups see how little many produce. Developers are busy churning out software as usual and responding to technical questions.
Our CEO said something in a channel that suggested he is considering downsizing the management and adding more developers. 😱 The response was that analysts and managers packed the developer schedules with online meetings and are trying to initiate more documentation work.3 -
So I work for an ISP in the customer support center and we use slack for communication... As you can tell by my starred channels; we do plenty of work...

So, with couple of new people in senior managerial roles, pink slips started flying left and right before the holiday season. That didn't happen before in the company. It's still relatively small and when people left that was for better paid or more interesting work.
While I can understand that from the business perspective and especially for a few who might have been considered dead weight (devs and other roles), I have a serious problem with the way it was handled. It's one of those 5 minute notices. If we weren't remote, I guess escorting out by security would follow.
Most recent person to go is actually one of the most senior devs at the position that became redundant over time, as it clashed in the "pyramid" with another dev. He was involved in many aspects of the product and greatly contributed to the overall success during years of hard work, i'd say maybe more than any of us.
He didn't fuck up anything major as far as I know, his services were just not needed anymore, compared to the other guy. Saving money. I get that.
At T-1 day he prepared a demo of his project. Meetings, Slack, everything as usual. Next thing we got was a "we wish him well in future endeavours" e-mail.
What I find most disturbing is the fact his account was removed immediately, and then we were asked to get any files and anything else we might need, all over personal communication channels (private e-mail, Skype etc.) because he was locked out of all company accounts.
I seem to have have survived this year. One thing they have definitely achieved, based on some off the record chat and some public updates, tweets etc I can see, is for many of us to start networking, polishing CVs and generally stop giving many fucks about the company and the outcome.
I've myself started brushing up on some new skills (stacks) and some old ones (algorithms, etc.) I may need any day now, as it seems.
If they can basically tell "thank you and fuck off" to one person maybe most involved with the company growth, with zero dignity and respect for the person, then fuck them.4 -
I’ve been at this job 4 months and I feel like I’ve been here long enough to make an accurate opinion of it. From day one I have not felt welcomed. There is no communication within the team.. none of my questions are ever answered.. and when I do ask questions I get snarky answers. I don’t expect my hand to be held, but as someone who is new, I’d like you to give me guidance. Especially since the code is mostly legacy and no one else on the team seems to know anything about anything.
Oh and there are not daily stand ups, project managers, or direction in the tickets themselves.
I guess I should have expected this on the first day when I asked for a SIP or documentation on how to get my environment setup I was practically laughed out of the office and then had the nerve to ask me why it took me the entire day to get 5 environments up and running.. not giving me the custom mappings or the global UDFs.
Today was my last straw.. when I asked a question in three different forms of communication on multiple different channels and was never given an answer.. and then was asked why I did something the way I did instead of doing it the way they wanted me to.
I think the saddest thing is that I felt tricked into this. I was told this position was going to be one way but ended up being something else. I was excited to share my knowledge and best practices to the team. Instead, I’m an outcast and get only be negativity and excuses when I politely bring up suggestions.
I no longer have the will to code here.5 -
Am I the only one who's getting more and more aggrevated about how the large youtube channels misinform and make out VPN providers (I am looking at you, Nord VPN, mostly) as the messiahs of the internet? How they protect our data that would otherwise be in incredible "danger" otherwise?
I understand they need clients, and I know most of the YT channels probably do not know better, but... This is misinformation at best, and downright false advertising at the worst...
"But HTTP-only websites still exist!" - yes, but unlike the era before Lets Encrypt, they are a minority. Most of the important webpages are encrypted.
"Someone could MITM their connection and present a fake certificate!" - And have a huge, red warning about the connection being dangerous. If at that point, the user ignores it, I say its their fault.
Seriously... I don't know if Nord gives their partners a script or not... But... I am getting super sick of them. And is the main reason why I made my own VPN at home...14 -

Why do I hate my extended family coming over for lunch and dinner you ask?
> kids, who will ruin the remote by pressing the keys so hard, I'll have to get a new remote.
> NO PEACE. I'll have to move from my comfort spot to another spot where, again kids, will come and ask if I have "GAMES" in my mobile or laptop
> and this happened after lunch while watching a movie which I never watched before, my imbecile cousin decides to spoil the entire movie just like that, like, FUCK YO, LIKE REALLY, I KNOW YOU'RE MY RELATIVE IN SOME WAY, BUT FUUUUUUCK YOUUUUUU, spoilers is one of the things I cannot stand.
> I really do not like to be annoyed again and again and again and again, so please stop asking me if I want to have lunch or dinner with everyone because I really HATE the talk during that time.
> I leave my laptop for one microsecond and they surround it like scavengers, I MEAN FOR FUCKS SAKE, GIVE ME MY PRIVACY, (I have my own room, but it's under renovation).
The best I could do was to put on headsets and pretend like I'm working while browsing LinkedIn.

We are tasked with creating a site for a tv channel with livestream and stuff. Nobody has relevant experience so we have to research what's on other channels' sites. So far the industry standard seems to be broken bootstrap, inconsistent style and 2008 design.

I feel guilty for using YouTube Vanced and being unable to support content creators.
Shouldn't there be a feature that allows you to toggle ads on certain channels you want to support?
I really want to support such folks who are creating valuable educational content but Google being the biggest piece of corporate shit, makes me angry when it comes to compensating the creators fairly when they make Billions off their hard work.
The world is a better place because of such teachers who spend time, energy, and efforts to create valuable and useful content for rest of the world.
Funnily, back in days when we had awesome stuff, the tech was shit to document all of it. Now when we have advanced and easily accessible tech, we have shitty TikToks.
Why can't the creators of good content get more visibility and why is the world so fucked?13 -

Is it just me or has german tv become more and more ad-ridden? A few years ago it was considered a dick move to play a single ad during an episode.
Now some channels continue the tv program but make it smaller so they can show an ad on the sides. And whenever i switch to the most popular channels i get an overlay that is basically an ad too.
I switched to livestreams and web-based tv for a reason, and that's because tv ads get more intrusive with every year. And don't get me started on the bullshit that smart tv's do nowadays, by that i mean sending data home.
I can't wait for tv to die out or to be replaced by an ip-based protocol just like telephones did.6 -
Why is Teams such a pile of shit? Slows my machine to a crawl and makes my fan go nuts whenever I'm on a call, has never heard of UX when it comes to chats and channels, and for some unknown fucking reason uses entirely different device config for livestreams.
Fuck you Microsoft. Only you could develop such a bloated, ugly abomination.4 -
I actually made a friend on gitter. We were regulars in a few channels, we started talking. Then we paired for some projects, he would help when I was stuck and vice versa. I ended up traveling 9000 miles to meet him and he took me to party for 2 weeks straight. That was fun.

Google simply can't knock off harrassing their users with security theatre.
A friend of mine has a small personal YouTube channel. He has recently been bombarded with several phone verification requests a week: "Verify it's you. To continue your session, complete a brief verification. This extra step helps us keep your account safe by making sure it’s really you. "
While frequent verifications may be understandable on YouTube channels with millions of subscribers, channels with only a few dozen subscribers are not attractive hacking targets. A verification would be justified before a potentially harmful action such as deleting videos or deleting a channel. But not for normal everyday use.
What's next? Will they ask users to "verify it's them" every ten minutes, "just for extra security"? Just to verify that it is "really, really, really, really, really" them?
It's not security. It's security theatre.
Sorry, Google, but users are not in the mood of doing a phone verification every other day.
Has this been Google's perverted wet dream all along?

Being in IT is difficult.
At first noone wants you, even for pennies.
Then everything seems difficult and complex, you start to envy the giants (seniors) who are headhunted via various channels.
Then you reach the kind of level where you start receiving some attention in linkedin - you almost want to frame them! Feeling so proud of yourself..
Then these job offers become sooo annoying.. But they keep flowing in from everywhere..
I wonder what's next3 -

what really upsets me is that I just discovered that I've no knowledge in finance. I'm feeling insecure, afraid and depressed. I'm browsing for some youtube channels, books and podcasts to get some some knowledge about finance and real estate.
all I have is a saving account in SBI bank, I just know how to take money out of it with my debit card and transfer money with online banking
how do u guys do ur finance, where do u invest. do u invest in stock market. insurance?? help me out. i'm fucked.
never thought i can be so stupid, I hate myself, never even thought I'll need financial intelligence.

FUUCCKKKK!! I need to hit smth. Or rant..
So that flaky ec2 issue.. These ec2s act as a shared environment for multiple apps. Our app is one of them. I have no access to those ec2s at all.
What I have access to is my app and some monitoring. Now the app randomly starts lagging while nearly idling. At the same random times monitoring stops completely and doesn't come back up. This happens to random app instances at random times.
Reached out to infra support, managed to get attention from the big boys [mgmt]. Today we got the fix deployed. I test it out -- problem persists.
I find this behaviour somewhat familiar. Managed to get some server stats from infra folks. Apparently cpu% is high as well as load avg [cpu queue]. Bingo! I know how to fix it!
So I write a long comment w/ all the commands and all the 'if that, do this'. Send it to one of the infra technitians
and I get a reply: 'we will apply cpu usage limitations to fix the issue'
wait... Cpu% limitations will do nothing but highlight the underlying problem...
'no, instances have high cpu utilisation which is causing those lags. We will limit cpu resources and it will be fixed'
oh ffs... Cpu utilization and cpu queue are VERY different things.. I tried explaining that to them like 7-9 times. And all I get is:
'yes, cpu utilization is the problem. We will limit it and solve the problem'
I would surely escalate all of this through higher channels if only I could get my hands on those ec2s and have a proof. But that is not happening and I'm forced to sit back and watch them break things even worse until they are out of options and mark my query as 'wont fix'....
Fuck that's frustrating....

In 1896, Percival Lowell saw straight channels on Venus. He was excited, because he'll gonna get reach — at that time, the award was in place for anyone who finds intelligent life on any other planet but Earth and Mars.
Why Mars? Because astronomers were seeing straight channels there too.
But bright Venus made this clear once and for all.
The patterns astronomers were seeing...
...were their own eyes.

I think I'm getting crazy...
Yesterday evening I finally thought it was a great idea to set up Gitlab CI to let the server build (ng cli) and deploy (via FTP) an Angular5 SPA on commits on the master branch.
BUT...
The npm package "vinyl-ftp" thinks it is pretty fucking funny to just randomly stop in the middle of uploading files or just upload some files with 0 bytes in size.
WHAT THE HELL?
After some hate infested trial and error, it seems that the more parallel channels I set up, the more chance I get that all files are correctly uploaded, but never all.
If anybody here happens to be some kind of mighty byte bender and knows what to do, I'd be thankful. But I will probably try out a different client in the docker image...1 -

Why doesn't Slack have an option to mute an entire workspace? It can only mute individual channels in the workspace, like sure, I want to manually mute every single fucking channel when I'm no vacation, and then unmute them when I come back. Who the fuck thought that was a good idea? For fucks sake, Discord can do it, but the most popular enterprise chat lacks such a basic feature.10

I don't care for Slack. There's nothing wrong with Slack. I just don't find a need for it when I already had email + IM. You know what I hate, though. People who show up one day and force Slack down the throat of an organization because "collaboration". Now, every day I hear "I didn't see that. Oh, you put in on Slack? Which channel?", "I put in on Slack", "I don't ever check my email, I just have Slack open", "Instead of filling up your inbox, I'm going to post this on 15 different slack channels" (which is why I have all the channels muted). All from people who can't type 10 words in a row without an emoji.3

In my current org we had a AWS SES event processor written in node js, it was struggling everytime we had more than 1000 messages in queue. It looped over every single message made some db calls then processed the next message. At one point we had to run 300 comatiners of this thing to clear out the queue.. It was still horribly slow.
I rewrote it in Golang with channels and goroutines now we need to run a single comatiner to handle upto 100k messages in queue. Used 10 goroutines to pull 10 messages constantly and put them in a channel, then spawned 1 goroutine per message to process them quickly. I'm so proud of this solution, we then brought this workflow to many other event processing services. 😎4 -
Well, the project I've been working on is now being terminated.
As the lead dev, I found out by one of the managers sending a public message to the staffing team in one of the channels unrelated to development, which I don't normally check.
Apparently at no point in their "very long discussion" did they think they should let me know of this decision.
Tbh I'm not even suprised, I was barely ever told anything. The others aren't either.2 -
One of the big ISP/entertainment companies dug up the roads a few months back and laid fibre optic cables (cutting through a power cable in the process but that's another story).
Recently had someone turn up at my door to chat about their services. All sounded very good, I took a card and gave it some thought and did some research.
So, it'd be a little cheaper than my current provider (FTTC setup). It'd be faster for downloads, slightly slower for uploads (I want fast upload). IPv6 is only on their business packages. I use IPv6 a lot. I also have several static IPv4 addresses.
It would involve getting a cable in to where my equipment rack is, and one to where the TV is (which I spent ages building a TV unit with power, network etc.)
To record/watch TV in another room with their service, I'd need to pay extra. The service just provides HD channels that I can already get, unless I pay more. At the moment I have MythTV handling all the recording of TV shows I want, and Kodi to play them back on different TVs, via CAT6 I spent ages installing into the walls.
Then there's the uncertainty of how nicely their equipment will play with my relatively complicated setup.
I decided, it isn't worth it really for me. I would have to change a load of stuff just to end up with what I already have... But with more limitations.
Anyway, the guy turned up again a few days later, I told him of my decision and away he went.
Since then I have been visited by 2 other employees of this company to try to sell me the service.
It is probably great and convenient if you are not like me and DIY all your home network and media distribution setup...
Also the ISP I'm with is quite small. They are very knowledgeable and friendly and I can get through to someone quickly if i phone. What I use meets my needs, so I prefer to support the smaller company in this case. -
My company chose to go with MS Teams over Slack. And now we’re not even allowed to create our own channels. We have to ask our manager to do it for us. Tf? That’s some basic shit.6

Here's a peek at the current state of the service that I'm developing as a side project(plenty of time meanwhile searching for job).
It's a renting service, more automated and with more(and better, imo) search criterias. By automated I mean that I don't have to scroll through search results half backed with poor filters. You create a search, the search will iterate as soon as there is process power in the queue of the searches, and when it's done it will notify you(in different ways(communication channels) and different times, all setup by the user)
.NET Core 2 is the reference framework for the backend; HTML5,Razor, SCSS,JS for front-end.
What do you think about?

Completely fucked up replication of MySQL servers.
Remote: 2 different database Servers
--> made sense.
Except the misconfiguration. Or better: No configuration at all.
So how to solve the massiv delays and make everything even more crazy?
2 remote servers - 2 readonly slaves for reading data remote (master - slave)
2 local (internal) servers.
Remote - Local Master Master.
Unfucking this cluster fuck was a real nightmare.
It had to be done at night, cause everything needed to be ripped apart.
And the servers were the backend of a warehouse with supply chain and multiple selling channels (Amazon, eBay etcetera).
So. It had to run the next day at 05.00 clock so the incoming orders could be packaged / prepared for shipping.
That was fun. Not.
And the clusterfuck died spectaculously on my first work day - the old DBA was gone (fired....)

Somehow I find NOT working much more exhausting than working.
By "not working" I mean being blocked for days/weeks by procedural, technical or communication stuff (peeps I depend on are busy with other HI-prio tasks, waiting for approvals, etc.), where I have to keep on pinging them for updates, monitoring comms channels for news, finding smth to do to justify for the clients the 8 hours I bill them for.

Weekend thought: Is Youtube becoming more like Facebook?
So I'm at work today and my coworker is watching YouTube. And by watching YouTube I mean watching very "mainstream" content like Mojo top 10 lists and Good Mythical Morning. When he's not doing that he's watching Twtich streaming for 6-8 hours a day.
I've noticed that I watch YouTube a lot less than I used to because there's less content I find interesting anymore. And I wonder if it's because the platform's algorithm for showing content has been skewed so much away from original content. I'm not saying that YouTube was a bastion of fantastic content 5 years ago, but in my opinion it was easier to find good content over the click bait that I feel plagues it these days.
I might be feeling this because a number of channels I've enjoyed have had to turn to patreon to get money from the demonetization of advertisements over the past year. It hasn't affected viewership but it does affect what I think YouTube "wants" the users to watch.6 -

story of a release
v2.1.0 major changes went live : new features, bug fixes, optimisations. also included releases for 2 associated libraries
release process tasks:
- do code
- update test cases
- test sample app
- test on another sample app
- get code reviewed and approved by senior ( who takes his own sweet time to review and never approves on first try)
- get code reviewed again
- merge to develop after 20 mins( coz CICD pipeline won't finish and allow merging before that)
- merge to master after 20 mins( coz CICD again)
- realise that you forgot to update dates in markdown files as you thought the release will be on 10th sept and release is happennig on 12th sept coz of sweet senior's code fucking/reviewing time
- again raise a branch to develop
- again get it a review approval by sr (who hopefully gives a merge approval in less time now)
- again get it merged to develop after waiting for 20 mins
- again get it merged to master after waiting for 20 mins
- create a clean build aar file
- publish to sonatype staging
- publish to sonatype release
- wait for 30 mins to show while having your brain fucked with tension
- create a release doc with all the changes
- update the documentation on a wyswig based crappy docs website
- send a message to slack channels
- done

why am i telling you this? coz i just found a bug in a code that i shipped in that release which still got in after all the above shitty processes. its a change of a 3 lines of code, but i will need to do all the steps again. even though i am going through the same shitty steps for another library version upgrade that depends on this library 😭😭
AND I AM THE ONE WHO CAUGHT IT. it went unnoticed because both of those shitty samples did not tested this case. now i can keep mum about it and release another buggy build that depends on it and let the chaos do its work, or i can get the blame and ship a rectification asap. i won't get any reward or good impression for the 2nd, and a time bomb like situation will get created if i go with 1st :/

i recently realised that youtube is the single most addictive app for me.
- it has reels that doesn't impact your usual video. reels is already a very addictive feature, but having this ability to watch many 1 min videos without losing my current video's timestamp, the search feed, the history and the home feed, it makes a great way to spend 1 hour on a 10 mins video
- it's AI is world class and recommends videos/channels that are full of content that i would watch
- it has a butt load of content.
- vanced/ ad blockers makes it possible to watch videos without ads, so makes the whole experience more grappling.
i spent 3-4 hours on it each day and another 2-3 hours during work. when it's not open as a tab on laptop, its open in my mobile.
youtube feels like a very nasty, evil product as i realise all this.
do you people feel the same about youtube? any detox tips?9 -
Optimized some code yesterday to speed up writes and reads to the various channels of a pixel of an image.
One of the changes was to directly modify the original image, instead of copying the modded pixels to a new image.
Code stopped working.
After a day of debugging and going insane since the methods that had to be working were in fact working, I decided to check whether the image I was loading had an alpha channel, which my program wrote to and read from.
No alpha channel. Some days I feel like a complete fool. -
I had the Fox Sports Go app on my Roku TV.
A few weeks ago, I noticed it was changed to the Fox Sports with a whole new design.
"Cool deal I like this."
Fast forward to today, I'm looking for a game that I know I have access to and I should be able to see. (I also check the Fox Sports Go website to see it there.)
Turns out, some dumbass fucker thought it'd be a fan-fucking-tastic idea to take a few of the TV channels and put them on their own app, while leaving the others in a separate app.
What the fuck was the point of this? I genuinely want to know what the end goal was, because it's fucking retarded to have two apps to do what one can and DID do.2 -
Did everyone else's Discord just freak out and make it seem like there was new stuff in all of the channels on all of the servers?1
-
I seriously don't get what's with everybody trying to copy each other now so much and release something under a different name or description (e.g. chats were yesterday, we do high velocity communcation now) and or adding almost no features, doist (company behind todoist) released "twist", which is literally just slack or a forum, just worse...?
https://blog.todoist.com/2017/06/...
edit: they even show slack as the go to tool in the past, but didn't discover actual channels..? I am missing the point here completely

OMFG. So my isp sucks. Like most isp do now adays. I was watching TV and I was trying to find a specific channel. I look for the channel list online. And oh my fucking God the site is horrible. They have some continuous loading script so I don't have to load all 2500 channels at once. But... It's fucking horrible I got to channel 120 then tries to scroll back up to see if there was a search bar. But guess what... It kept scrolled bg me down. Then I thought maybe if I refresh the page. Nope... It does not send me to the top it sends me to the fucking bottom. Since I can't clear cache on mobile im stuck scrolling up. Why can't they have a site that just fucking works.2
-
Why do these article sites of news channels have a shitload of adds in it , so much that you can barely even see the article ... and even worse , some of them add random pop up modals in between of their article.
Like I am reading about salt or sugar which is better to add in curd and suddenly I see a f*cking deaf person trying on a hearing aid and smiling like some girl in sanitary pad advertisement after she aced in her exam because she used the extra wide pad.
And some of those website feel so delusionally confident about their articles that they decide to add a "Sign up to Read full article" thing in it ...
I was just trying to read "top 10 places to visit this monsoon in [city name]".2 -
Lost my temper at one of our volunteer moderators the other day. We had to do a test using live data, our sysadmin warned him, but not far enough in advance and not really by the right channels. So that was on us. sorry not sorry. But so then he didn't believe us. He must be a geek too cuz he responded with some stupid math problem for me to solve, as if that would prove we work here and aren't hackers or scammers. I replied "how about if i just kick you out of your own group and delete your account, would that convince you?" And so I did. Asshole. Of course I had to apologize later and get a lecture from the boss, but it was kinda worth it.

Who/what are y'all's favorite coding related YouTube channels? Mine are Kalle Halden and NetworkChuck.7
-
We use Slack at work for IMs.
There are tons of threads created in each DM, group chat, and channels.
There is a purpose to each thread.
But.. BUT.... Engineering team responds to a thread and also sends the same message in channel.
What's the fucking point of the thread...
FUCKING STOP SPAMMING WITH DUPLICATE MESSAGES.
I have a cup of green tea in my hand right now and I feel like pouring it on myself.
Third tier geniuses from Timbuktu.4 -
One thing I hate about receiving secured passwords on secured channels like Signal is the font. Really grinds my gears that I can't tell if that's an l (lowercase L) or an I (uppercase i) and more so with 0 and O. Uuuugghh2

Does anyone know a good way to use adblock/ublock but configure it to allow ads only on my fav/selected youtube channels?
Because some youtubers deserve it!
...And I‘m too lazy to manually disable my adblock everytime Iwatch some videos of creators I like :/7 -
My new ISP's FTTH router is the most advanced I've ever had at home, but it doesn't allow changing the channels for different SSIDs.
I call them and they tell me the current firmware doesn't have the option because the connection is in beta test.
Great, now I can't have a guest SSID without channel overcrowding. -
There should be a garbage collector for IRC channels. If there's no activity for a given period of time, then just cancel it from above...2

Do you know what is both a good and a bad thing about old tech like IRC ? vs Slack, Twitter, Facebook, Email, etc for socializing ?
excepting that they were recording most channels traffic with bots, you could miss things.
things changed.
it was more living you expected people to be there to have real conversations. and then the conversations unless fragments were saved, disappeared on there own.
it made you have to remember things.1 -
New office stories.
They use following channels as official communication channels
1. Google Hangouts (yes, living in 1800s)
2. WhatsApp groups (FUCK MY LIFE) Thankfully I am not part of any and will avoid actively.
3. Slack (heaven's sake some sense here).
And above that, they use Google Workplace for emails and office tools.
And now combine this mess with Apple. How inhumane my working conditions are.3 -
It really grinds my gears when new hires just start adding themselves to every fucking slack channel and then start crapping up the channel history with irrelevant chatter.
Business Analysts and Project Managers do not need to be in #developers sending mock-ups to a UI/UX designer for one team, or posting an xkcd strip you found on the internet because you "got it" and you think you are proving that you are one of us by posting it there. This channel isn't a fucking club, its where ALL developers at this company across all teams share tools and practices for us to maintain consistency and best practices and to improve our craft, or to give a heads-up about vulnerabilities.
There is a specific channel for your role, and your project. You don't need to be everywhere and in every conversation. And for fuck's sake, PLEASE stop @someone adding people to these channels just because you think you saw something in there posted by someone else that they should see. You can just fucking share that message directly with that person, or in another channel.8 -
I believe that without competition, YouTube would likely ban re-uploads entirely.
YouTube thankfully tolerates re-uploads of deleted videos because it knows that the minute they prohibit re-uploads, competitors like Dailymotion and BitchUte would get immediate massive growth.
There are entire channels dedicated to re-uploading deleted videos of specific channels! (for example: https://youtube.com/channel/... )
In 2017, YouTube alternatives were rather immature, but they have developed: https://youtube.com/watch/...
-
I'm so tired of all these new support channels. Why the fuck would I want 7 electron based apps/accounts just to ask questions or provide support? I don't want slack, gitter, discord, zulip and what not. Can't keep up with this bullshit.
Can we please get back to supporting open source on IRC? And fuck my life even that got split up due to shit happening in freenode (the company). FML distributed good, fragmented bad.2 -
Who needs BDSM when we have comms channels' outages in the middle of a PROD release.
Then again, who in his right mind uses Telegram for company comms....8 -
When and how do you improve documentation?
I dont mean "added new/refactored code, gotta document it" but active improvement.
Which feeback channels do you have for your docs?3 -
CSP-Style-Concurrency is so freaking awesome.
You can just split your application into independent modules that communicate with channels. -
Have you ever watched Idiocracy? Please do. Especially the smart ones in this platform. I'm afraid it might just be the most accurate forecast of the future of humankind. I've been mentioning this movie for years.
Politics, genZ, etc. - the trend is already there.
I don't have a TV. Mostly bcz I have better things to do with my time than watch ads and tv shows.
In youtube there are people who do reviews of various things. A few days ago my wife came across one that reviews episodes of a tv show that, apparently, is shown on one of the most popular Lithuanian TV channels. It's called Undress. The idea is that 2 people, a man and a woman, meet in a studio in front of a camera, do some small talk and then undress each other. Then they go to a bed in the studio and do various tasks: provokative questions, touching, kissing, etc., occasional slips of nudity
Usually girls are strippers, porn actresses, whores, etc. Guys are salesmen, bus drivers, finance workers, etc.
It's awkward and sad to watch it. But whats even more sad is that it's broadcasted on a TV and people find it entertaining to watch. Even morevsad is that there are people who willingly sign up as participants, knowing the whole nation will be watching and they seem to enjoy it.
W.T.F... Idiocracy13 -
Purpose of Slack: communications (I suppose)
What management uses way too many channels for: updates of ANYTHING anyone does on Jira or any pull requests created on GitHub
What would be useful to get notifications of, such as PR comments, isn't there
I'd like to get notifications of when *people* talk to me, as I like to answer them promptly, but these stupid automated updates on Slack just makes me mute whatever channels they're setup in -
HOLY FUCK I never thought that using async websockets in Django 3.x will be THAT much pain in the ass...
Also my next contribution will be their docs for sure, the examples are so fucking bad (linters are crying and begging me to kill them)3 -
There are many people broadcasting over Zello from Puerto Rico on the 'Puerto Rico' and other channels. Might help if you need to connect or need situational awareness.

Today on YouTube channels Kiki watches: Fredrik Knudsen.
In my opinion, it has THE most interesting coverage of obscure topics. I loved his two-hours-long video about Deep Blue. Recently, he made a video about EVE Online that is FIVE HOURS long. I know it’s probably very interesting, but can’t build up the courage to start watching.
Oh, and he also covered Mr. Terry A. Davis.

TL;DR: fuck shitty algorithms!
The Youtube app seems to have a highlights option for your subscriptions. Found out because it activated itself.
Firstly: NEVER FUCKING EVER CHANGE MY FUCKING OPTIONS BECAUSE YOU ADDED A NEW FEATURE. YOU MAY NOTIFY ME AND IF I WANT IT ACTIVATED I AM PROBABLY ABLE TO TOUCH ME SCREEN TWICE AND ACTIVATE IT!
Secondly: Why can't people understand that I don't want any fucking neural networks (except sometimes devrant because the algo is the algo) to tell me what I want to look at, especially if it's on fucking YouTube where I only have to go through a few videos a day? But hey maybe I want to watch that video I didn't want to watch 5 days ago!?
Thirdly: I subscribed to more than two channels and there might be a fucking reason why I subscribed to these channels. Don't show me 5/6 videos not only from the same creator but it's just the last 5 videos from the same series.3 -
I love how devrant spreads at the office. See, no one wants to tell anyone about you since everyone wants to claim your rants as their own. But those who know, recognize the gifs as they spread across whiteboards, doors and channels nodding to each other with a secret smile.2

Do people know of good resources (books, blogs, YouTube channels, whatever) regarding advancing to the higher levels of the tech industry?
I can find lots of resources for how to get started in your career but as I've advanced it gets harder and harder to find guidance (this is not surprising, but still lamentable). I am currently one promotion away from Senior at my company and I have no idea what to expect beyond that.
Any suggestions?2 -
Ever since MS Teams added the option to merge channels and chats together, every week they give me a new, differently phrased popup asking me if perhaps I considered having them separate instead. It's fucking hilarious, like a suitor who can't take no for an answer. I mean, it already contains a ton of dark patterns, they can just remove the feature again without my approval if they feel like it, but this miserable charade pretending to care about their users is frankly embarrassing.6
-
So fun fact about message-passing plugin APIs, everything becomes a parallel programming problem. My lexer (the part of an interpreter that recognizes fundamental syntax elements) spawns a callback thread with request and reply channels, and then messages a plugin which is able to either talk to the callback thread or message the original thread with a successfully parsed token or an abort.
It has just occurred to me that plugins are under no obligation to sequence their requests to the callback thread, which means that having one channel for requests and one for responses no longer suffices; the requests need to each contain their response channel. -
just read about that DRAGONBRIDGE takedown.
Apparently it was some system set up to disseminate pro-China anti-USA propaganda in multiple channels.
Now, I totally can believe something like this would exist - too easy a jab to a fantastically big payout if it actually works. However, isn't it easy to call *anything* contrary to *anything* a propaganda plot?
That is why I believe in NOTHING that is on the internet. NOTHING. The internet says I have "credit card" "outstanding debt" to "pay" "ASAP".
Yeah, right. Half of those aren't even real words (I mean, "card"?! come on). You won't get me, opposing view propaganda machine!1 -
I MISS TIGERDIRECT! a haiku&rant
Tiger, so direct
Hardware haven, my tech friend
Killed, by poor Insight
I thought I had found ways to cope with it all... became a cert'd refurbisher at enough lesser operations to rebuild some semblance of my hardware connects. I even resorted to newegg to fill small voids... why is it so hard to find a quickly shipping, scriptable, 2 WAN in 6+ channels out, non WiFi noob crap, router... or even an L3 managed switch for <250$ not tied to some bullshit excuse for network management like a "cloud management platform" with some rando 'security' bloat?!?! Not even trying to force the PoE functionality (realistically i know I'll just wire that up myself after procrastinating too long)... i even tried newegg and damn amazon, neither seem to realise that real routers and switches arent interchangeable terms.
I even tried tolerating supporting the murderous, treasonous, obfuscating high prices and insisting you register as your business and let them trap you in the equivalent of a 'free' ski trip, with "short" timeshare presentation.
All bullshit and overpriced af trying to force some bloat down your throat so you "feel" like you're properly managing a network.
Anyone have an ace up their sleeve? For quick delivery (USA) minus bloat, pandering and ass-to-mouth rape???
I even tried stooping to a current Cisco OEM!
I mean, if it was *only* a bit of ass rape, I'm fine with that... but the bloat, pandering and shit-stained lollipop...
I'd rather just disappear from valid business obligations, get somewhat intoxicated, and hyperfocus tear apart my tech graveyards, go ghetto apocalyptic tech macgyver on that shit and emerge days later low on solder, in dire need of a flintstones size whetstone, more arduinos, a tetanus shot and a shower.1 -
Scanning antennas TV channels again on my HDTV and now reviewing my catch (50 channels) and saw this, now in HD.
Looks so much better now then when I was a kid but also started to get a bit emotional

Is anybody else bothered by Slack? The way they handle account management and channels bothers me. It solved a problem that didn't exist, and now it has become this ecosystem so many people/organizations are over reliant on.
I feel like AIM had better features in the early 00's.1 -
Disclaimer: the project I'm about to mention contains the first lines of Go I have ever written.
Still, I'm quite proud of how quickly I got it working considering it's also my first time working with GTK.
This project that I've been working on the past few days is finally done. But it's %50 percent spaghetti, so refactoring time. I decided to have a look at my cyclomatic complexity numbers, and my biggest function (not main()) had it at 7.
As it was quite large, I split it up into to parts: the preparation and the actual timer loop. As I appear to need to use a goroutine, by the time I'm done passing channels and all hell to handle them, my loop function now has a score of 9 for cyclomatic complexity.
So fix one bug, leaves two in its place?
But I still need to better learn Go, anyone have a good (relatively painless, informative, quick-ish) course they can recommend? I've been thinking of trying out codecademy's one...6 -
Started learning python async with curio and trio just two days ago, and I must say I'm really having a blast.
I have a few pending ideas to combine it with websockets (also first time I'm learning how to use them).
Haven't had this much fun with python in a while!
Also, sidequestion: how can return a value from an async function with curio or trio? I can't find a proper answer or example about that, other than some hints about memory channels in trio3 -
Some very friendly neighbor bought new wifi probably yesterday and it literally fucked up my wifi speed. I easily got like 30Mbits in the toilet, now it is only 2-5 megs dropping to 300kbits sometimes... Very fucked up. All channels are full and what is worse, if some channel is good on one side of the apartment, it is flooded on the other...
The only solution seems to be 5GHz, but it sucks, because its range is soooo small between these concrete walls, I would need at least 2 extenders lol.8 -
Since many of youtubes best creators are leaving in november due to the spartan google policies, just wondering where people will be going next? Any up and coming video platforms anyone recommends? Any of your favorite channels already switching?15

Why does live streaming to mobile need a cable subscription when I can get the same channel with a HD antenna for free?
Was trying to watch the Thanksgiving parade at my parents. Didn't know they had a working HD antenna so spent an hour trying to cast and find a streaming source...
Then Dad said we do... I just needed to rescan the channels...3 -
My slack messages were deleted because of some silly channel policy... Hope those kind of moderator are not available here.. fuck you moderators I have stackoverflow.1

If a software company has 3 unique client projects, is it better to structure the discord server this way:
`-` is a category (parent) and `--` is a text or voice channel (child)
OPTION 1: category as project
- Project A
-- general
-- resources
-- design
-- dev team 1
-- dev team 2
- Project B
-- general
-- resources
-- design
-- dev team 1
-- dev team 2
- Project C
-- general
-- resources
-- design
-- dev team 1
-- dev team 2
OPTION 2: category as event
- Projects
-- projectA-general
-- projectB-general
-- projectC-general
- Design
-- projectA-design
-- projectB-design
-- projectC-design
- Resources
-- projectA-resources
-- projectB-resources
-- projectC-resources
- Developer discussions
-- projectA-team1-dev
-- projectA-team2-dev
-- projectB-dev
-- projectC-dev
- Meetings
-- projectA-meeting
-- projectB-meeting
-- projectC-meeting
?
What do you think is better.
PS. there is literally NO other communication service that can structure it exactly like this. Only discord is powerful and FREE to do it like this.
- Rocketchat isnt flexible enough to do this
- Slack requires me to pay first so i can do this
- Teams too
So fuck all of them I'll stick to discord unless someone can name me 1 single alternative service capable of structuring channels like this for a real time communication for FREE19 -

I guess these days I work with Golang, gRPC, and Kubernetes. I guess that's a dev stack. Or turning into one at the very least. The only thing that annoys me about this stack, is how different deployments for kubernetes are different for CSPs. The fact that setting up a kubernetes/Golang dev environment is take a lot of time and effort. And gRPC can be a pain in the ass to work with as well. Since it's fairly new in large scale enterprise use, finding best practices can be pretty hard, and everything is "feet in the fire" and "trial by error" when dealing with gRPC.
And Golang channels can get very hairy and complicated really really fast. As well as the context package in Golang. And Golang drama with package managers. I wish they would just settle on GoDeps or vgo and call it a day.
And for the love of God, ADD FUCKING GENERICS! Go code can be needlessly long and wordy. The alternative "struct function members" can be pretty clunky at times. -
what the f....
So I'm making some changes to my setup. I'm relieving my current router from its duties and retiring it as a mini PC for my desktop setup. And I got my hands on a Dell Optiplex that will become my new router.
Now, firstly, the Optiplex came w/o a wifi antenna. I booted it up into a LinuxMint install USB for the first time and didn't expect much from it, but to my surprise, I got a popup: "There are wifi networks available". At that spot there was also my Fenvi PCI wifi card's antenna of my current (soon-to-be-previous) PC and it was barely seeing any wifi, and there came Optiplex with NO antenna attached to it and it managed to maintain stronger and more stable signal. wtf....
Alright, it's Fenvi, it's chinese -- there's probably not much I should expect from it.
Then I hooked it up right next to my current router with an external USB wifi adapter having 4x6dBi antennas on it, serving as my current wifi AP. Trying out hostapd configs, searching for the right channels,... should I test it? Naah, it still doesn't have an antenna - it won't reach my laptop. Meeh, for shits and giggles! `hostapd -d /etc/hostapd/hostapd_custom.conf`, on my lappy `nmcli d wifi rescan; sleep 5; nmcli d wifi` and... wtf... To my surprise, the AP was there! A thick wall away, no antenna whatsoever, and I still could connect to that Optiplex AP and post this rant!
What magic is this??? I'm now a bit concerned about ordering an antenna for it - I'm worried it could either worsen the signal or make it so strong that it'll fry my brains overnight.2 -
I made this little webapp to make custom subscription feeds for YouTube

I want to play some games in my free time, what would be the best option for me ?
choice 1 : ps5 or xbox?
choice 2 : monitor or 4k tv
choice 3 : above choices or simply buy a windows laptop?
context :
1. i have never been a hardcore gamer. i don't dig multiplayer global kinda games like pubg, or other fps. I rather like offline story games like takken or NFS most wanted 2005
2. my current laptop is a macbook. i started development with windows laptop years ago, and at that time i was free enough to complete most wanted 2005 and max payne 1/2 (with cheats) i liked gta vice city / sanandreas as well, but i could not pass its missions and would rather end up roaming around
3. i recently played it takes 2 , some bmx bike racing and some archery game with my friend on his PS5 and damn i liked that crispy super fast and detailed graphical games. might be a good investment for relaxation and weekend time pass
4. i am shifting homes and in need of a personal tv/display as I don't want to share family tv anymore. i don't really watch any cable tv shows apart from news channels and mainly consume ott content (netflix ,prime Hotstar etc) i am wondering if a display could also be mounted on wall and could be able to run otts vis some firestick, jio stick or google cast etc.
5. as i mentioned that i never had a taste for gaming, i wonder if all above would be a bad choice and if i should simply buy a good windows laptop
( whatever that technology is , all i want is to control that screen content with a remote, like we do in tv)
So what's best for me?12 -

Need some help,
I am setting up postfix and I need it to accept all emails, from any domain (without a domain list), and forward it to a local address on the machine (It pipes into PHP, toscript@).
I have a catch-all working where it is forwarding the emails to the toscript@ mailbox dispite of the to address. But if I send an email to it that is not in the domain list it gets rejected as it's not in the domain list, Is their a known way to force Postfix to accept all domain emails without having a list of the domains in the server.

What is best equivalent to Slack? we switched to Rocket chat but UI is terrible, every one gets confused in channels when there is too many threads and replys. I need a free alternative which we can deploy its dedicated instance on our own server. also I prefer open source software with mobile support and better UI/UX than rocker chat.7
-
You guys probably use slack at work. Or teams. But what about using discord? Would it be a good idea to use a discord server and create and manage clients' projects that way? Its free and simple to do. I have the most experience with discord even coding custom discord hooks.
For example I'd categorize each project by discord categories, and within each category I'd have channels such as general, ui, coding etc so engineers team project managers designers and clients can communicate in real time.
The biggest downside to this approach is... Discord allows maximum 50 categories per server. What if i have more than 50 projects to work on? I wouldn't be able to create a new category for that project. The growth and scalability of a company is limited thst way. That's what sucks. I'd have to create a brand new server and repeat this cycle again. And each server having max 50 projects. This doesnt sound very efficient right?
Is there a better way? Or do i have to use slack?20 -
Prediction:
1. Broadcast (free) TV will consist 100% of live programming
2. All series will be bought and available on streaming services like Amazon, Netflix, Disney+
3. Cable channels or TV episodes can be bought individually (iTunes, Google Videos, etc), basically they will be their own streaming service (it actually that already exists, IPTV? just not in the US?)
Why:
Everyone will use DVRs to record TV shows so can skip all advertisements
Therefore only way to get viewers eyeballs for ads is live programming where you need to cast votes which affect the outcomes (supposedly)
Streaming services obviously don't have this problem and don't need to run ads since there's a monthly subscription fee that more then covers cost.2 -
Hi guys, Please suggest some resources to learn software testing. Currently I am learning through ArtOfTesting(dot)com. They provide free step-by-step.

People around you (especially non-engineers) coming over just to know whether you saw their instant message ping / email to send them a value of a configuration. Or others who just comes in at the right time - when you just got into your utopian magical zone - "just to say hi and catch up". There goes the rest of my day.
Complement that to the instant messaging application of choice of the organization and it's a no-no for productivity. I find myself being invited to random channels only because they want to mention that I did something. I set myself to Away whenever I'm in the mood, but that still doesn't stop people from pinging and sending me notifications anyway. -
When you realize that your company's git doesn't support smth like emailing or notifs, when commenting on bugs/merge requests/etc. and you manually have to tell those ones via other channels, that you just wrote smth/responded to them.
As a co-maintainer of a personal project I feel spoilt now, for having this functionality for free, but ... oh dear2 -
There are two kinds of art and leisure: Apollonian and Dionysian. Apollo was the god of light, knowledge and other such things. Dionysus was the god of wine and ritual madness. In a nutshell, the beauty of the stars in the sky is Apollonian, and the beauty of nice juicy ass is Dionysian.
My info landscape was too damn Dionysian lately. I don’t even use TikTok or Instagram. I mean music I listened to, like aggressive dumb rap, bad slang, swearing… Wherever you look, there are Cardi B’s and Kim K’s, with their ugly eyelashes, ugly makeup, ugly inflated lips, ugly voice, ugly things they say. Watching the dumbest shit ever on YouTube. The louder you scream, the funnier the joke. Also, the number one content is some people tearing down some other people: penguinz0 destroying someone again, debunk channels, drama…
Dionysian things can be attractive and comfortable, because they speak to our animal part. In a way, Dionysian is natural. But not everything that is natural is good.
I gave my info landscape an Apollonian cleansing. Unsubscribed from a lot of debunking channels. Changed the way I speak, adjusted my vocabulary. Deleted a lot of music from my library. Went from 6ix9ine to Pink Floyd, Sting and Dire Straits.
It all started two weeks ago. I feel… different, but not necessarily better. Time will tell.3 -
Some of my dev role models are not actually devs. I am always impressed when people make a tool they need without much programming experience. It highlights how the actual programming work doesn't have to be a hindrance, it's just a matter of sitting down and getting it done.
One if my favorite examples is Chris Huelsbeck who made his own sound engine and editor to emulate the extra virtual sound channels he needed on the Amiga. He actually emulated an emulator that someone had made OF the Amiga on the Atari ST.

So discord looks like irc with more graphics and less stuff going on lol thus far lol

IF YOU HAVE LOST YOUR BITCOIN AND YOU NEED A BITCOIN EXPERT JUST GOOGLE DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY
It all began with a Facebook ad that popped up during the holiday season one of those enticing promotions for "guaranteed winning football picks" that seemed too polished to overlook. The ad featured eye-catching screenshots of massive payouts and glowing testimonials from ecstatic users, which drew me in like a moth to a flame. Before I knew it, I found myself in a private Telegram group that was buzzing with what appeared to be undeniable proof of their success: screen recordings showcasing big wins, withdrawal slips, and enthusiastic members celebrating their fortunes. The group's admin reached out to me personally, claiming they had a "sure thing" match that was too good to pass up. The urgency in their tone was palpable; they insisted that this was a limited-time opportunity. All I needed to do was send $5,000 in Ethereum to place the bet. Despite my better judgment screaming at me to walk away, the pressure mounted, and I succumbed to the allure of quick riches. I transferred the ETH, convinced that I was on the brink of a life-changing win. However, that’s when the real scam unfolded. Almost immediately, I was hit with a demand for a $2,000 "processing fee." As if that wasn’t enough, they continued to ask for more payments under the guise of "verification fees." My heart raced as I hesitated, realizing that something was terribly wrong. When I expressed my doubts, their demeanor shifted dramatically; they became aggressive, threatening to lock me out of my "winnings" if I didn’t comply. My stomach sank as the reality of the situation hit me I had been conned. But the story doesn’t end there. In a twist of fate, I managed to recover everything I lost. A friend connected me with Digital Tech Guard Recovery, a firm that specializes in recovering funds lost to crypto scams. Their team worked tirelessly, employing their expertise to trace the Ethereum through the blockchain, collaborating with exchanges, and navigating legal channels. To my astonishment, within just a few days, my entire $7,000 was back in my wallet. This taught me a valuable lesson about the dangers of online scams and the importance of due diligence. While I fell victim to a sophisticated scheme, I was fortunate enough to find help and reclaim my losses.

BITCOIN / USDT AND ETH HACKER FOR HIRE: CONSULT FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY
My friend introduced me to the intriguing world of cryptocurrency, and I was immediately captivated by its potential for substantial returns. When I stumbled upon a token presale that appeared legitimate, I was eager to invest. I committed $84,600, enticed by the polished website and the seemingly credible team behind the project. I realized I had fallen victim to a sophisticated scam, and my investment felt irretrievably lost. Looking for help, I discovered FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY through a fellow investor who had successfully reclaimed their funds. On May 12, 2024, I made a significant decision to deposit $140,000 into crypto chain io, a choice I would soon come to regret. Almost immediately after completing the transaction, an uneasy feeling began to set in. Concerned, I reached out to their support team to confirm the status of my deposit, but my inquiries went unanswered. As the days passed, my anxiety increased. By May 16, just four days later, I noticed that the funds had not been credited to my account. Panic started to take hold as my emails were either ignored or met with a single, dismissive response: “Processing takes time.” No timeline was provided, and there was no transparency. It became painfully obvious that I had fallen victim to a scam. For the next six long months, I fought relentlessly to recover my lost money. Every attempt to contact crypto chain io was met with silence and evasion, leaving me feeling more and more helpless and frustrated. The lack of meaningful communication only deepened my despair. I spent countless hours trying to reach out through various channels, but every effort was futile. With each passing day, the reality that I might never see my money again became harder to ignore. Just when I thought all hope was lost, a breakthrough came on November 8, 2024. While browsing comments on X (formerly Twitter) during discussions about the U.S. general election, I stumbled upon a post praising a company called Cyber Constable Intelligence. Intrigued and desperate for help, I contacted them the same day. To my relief, their team responded quickly, demonstrating genuine commitment to helping me. RAPID DIGITAL RECOVERY IS THE SECURE RELIABLE BITCOIN RECTORATION SERVICES
At first, these scammers were incredibly smooth. They made everything appear legitimate, acting as though my money was safe with them. They even went so far as to show me how to withdraw funds, building an illusion of trust. It seemed like a legitimate platform, and they were very convincing. I believed I was dealing with professionals, and for a while, things seemed fine. But as soon as they realized that they wouldn’t be able to extract another penny from me, they stopped responding to my calls and emails. The once friendly customer service turned cold, and all communication ceased. They blocked me on all channels, leaving me stranded and unable to access my funds. These scammers know exactly how to play their victims, making it seem like they’re here to help, only to pull the rug out from under you when they’ve gotten what they wanted. The whole situation felt like a trap, designed to manipulate and steal from people like myself. It’s a classic scam, and I’m sure many others have fallen for it. If my money had been returned to me, I would have taken down this warning, but unfortunately, what I experienced was straight-up theft. They took my funds and left me with nothing but frustration. However, in the midst of this hopeless situation, I found a lifeline in Rapid Digital Recovery. I had almost given up hope of recovering my money, but Rapid Digital Recovery came through when I thought all was lost. They were able to guide me through the process of recovering my funds, and after much effort, I successfully withdrew my money back into my bank account. It was a relief to know that not all hope was lost. I want to spread the word about the importance of being cautious online and to warn others about this fake platform. At the same time, I can’t recommend Rapid Digital Recovery enough. They helped me when I had nowhere else to turn, and they played a vital role in getting my money back. I’m sharing my story not only to warn others about the scammers but also to help promote the services of those like Rapid Digital Recovery who genuinely care about helping people in these situations.

TRUSTED CRYPTOCURRENCY RECOVERY EXPERT FOR HIRE; CRYPTO RECOVERY SPECIALIST HIRE CYBER CONSTABLE INTELLIGENCE
I was part of Harborview Capital Partners, a venture capital firm in New Zealand, when we encountered a significant financial setback. We had invested NZD 5,500,000 in a promising technology startup that initially seemed like a golden opportunity. The startup presented a compelling pitch, had strong leadership, and its business model aligned perfectly with current trends in the tech sector. Confident in its potential, we decided to invest. However, over time, red flags began to emerge. The startup failed to meet its initial promises. We discovered discrepancies in their financial statements, uncovered fabricated key partnerships, and found that product development was severely behind schedule. Despite growing concerns, the startup's leadership remained evasive and defensive. We tried to address the situation through traditional channels, but our efforts to recover the investment were unsuccessful. It soon became clear that the company had misled us from the start. At this point, we turned to Cyber Constable Intelligence, a firm specializing in recovering lost or stolen funds through advanced investigative techniques. Their expertise in digital forensics and fraud detection seemed like the perfect solution for our predicament. The team at Cyber Constable Intelligence immediately began working on our case, employing a range of digital tracking tools to trace the flow of funds. Using blockchain analysis and other investigative methods, they uncovered a network of shell companies and personal accounts where the stolen money had been funneled. Cyber Constable Intelligence's thorough investigation provided a clear picture of the fraud. They were able to prove that the startup was operating under fraudulent pretenses, and we presented their findings to the authorities. This led to a formal investigation and legal action against the perpetrators. Thanks to the diligent work of Cyber Constable Intelligence, we were able to recover the full amount of our investment NZD 5,500,000.This experience was a harsh reminder of the risks inherent in venture capital, but it also highlighted the importance of having the right expertise to navigate complex financial fraud. With Cyber Constable Intelligence’s help, we were able to not only recover our investment but also hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

I never imagined a single decision could unravel months of financial discipline. It started with a message on LinkedIn—professional, polished, and seemingly legitimate. A woman named Amélie claimed to be a financial advisor representing a reputable European investment firm specializing in cryptocurrency. Her warmth and confidence lowered my guard. After a few video calls, I was convinced. I started small. When I withdrew $300 profit within a week, it felt real. Hopeful. Addictive.
Encouraged, I went all in—$60,000 over two months. Then came the moment that shattered everything: when I tried to withdraw, they claimed there were "security checks" and requested $5,000 more to "unlock" my profits. That’s when the panic set in. The moment I sent it, everything went dark. Emails bounced. Numbers disconnected. My account was frozen, and with it, my dreams of financial stability.
I was consumed by shame and fear. I stopped sleeping. My friends noticed the shift. My family didn’t understand. I contacted law enforcement, but they told me what I already feared—recovering funds from international crypto scams is nearly impossible.
Then I stumbled upon CYBERPUNK PROGRAMMERS, a recovery team mentioned in a crypto forum. I was skeptical, emotionally drained, but I reached out. TRACK AND RECOVER STOLEN CRYPTO AND USDT: HIRE SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY
On May 12, 2024, I made a significant decision to deposit $14,200 into crypto chain io, a choice I would soon come to regret. Every attempt to contact crypto chain was met with silence and evasion, leaving me feeling more and more helpless and frustrated. The lack of meaningful communication only deepened my despair. I spent countless hours trying to reach out through various channels, but every effort was futile. With each passing day, the reality that I might never see my money again became harder to ignore. Just when I thought all hope was lost, a breakthrough came on November 8, 2024. While browsing comments on X (formerly Twitter) during discussions about the U.S. general election, I stumbled upon a post praising a company called Salvage Asset Recovery. Intrigued and desperate for help, I contacted them the same day. To my relief, their team responded quickly, demonstrating genuine commitment to helping me. They launched a thorough investigation into crypto chain Io's operations, delving deep to uncover the truth behind the fraudulent activities. Their expertise and determination reignited my hope. By November 22, 2024, my perseverance was rewarded. Salvage Asset Recovery successfully traced and reclaimed my entire $14,200, exposing the fraudulent practices of the platform in the process. I was overwhelmed with gratitude, knowing I had finally recovered what I had lost. It was all thanks to the support of Salvage Asset Recovery. Their Contact info,

Losing cryptocurrency to a scam can be a deeply distressing experience. Unlike traditional forms of theft, cryptocurrency transactions are often irreversible, and the anonymity of blockchain technology makes it almost impossible to trace stolen funds. This creates a sense of helplessness for victims who discover that their hard-earned money has been lost to a fraudulent platform. The situation is even more painful because, in many cases, recovering lost or stolen crypto is nearly impossible. When someone falls victim to a scam in the crypto space, the first impulse is often to try and report the fraudulent platform. Many victims immediately contact their wallet provider or exchange, hoping for a solution. Some may reach out to their bank, believing they can reverse the transaction or block further transfers. Others contact law enforcement or file complaints with consumer protection agencies. In certain cases, victims may even hire a lawyer, hoping to take legal action against the scammers. But despite all these efforts, the harsh reality is that few people recover their stolen funds. Cryptocurrency scams are rampant, and the scams themselves are increasingly sophisticated, often appearing as legitimate investment opportunities. These platforms lure victims with promises of high returns and easy profits, only to vanish once they have stolen the investors' funds. Sadly, once the cryptocurrency is sent, there is little recourse, as these transactions are final and irreversible. The emotional and financial toll of being scammed can be overwhelming, and many victims are left with feelings of despair and frustration. However, there is hope for those who have been affected by cryptocurrency scams. One solution is to contact specialized recovery services like TRUST GEEKS HACK EXPERT. These professionals are experienced in navigating the complex world of cryptocurrency fraud and are committed to helping victims recover their lost funds. ALPHA SPY NEST RECOVERY // ETH/USDT & BITCOIN RECOVERY EXPERT.
It all started when I woke up one morning to find my crypto wallet drained—every last Bitcoin I’d invested in was gone. Months of careful trading, wiped out in an instant. I’d fallen victim to a slick phishing scam that tricked me into handing over my private keys. Devastated, I thought it was over. That’s when a friend mentioned Alpha Spy Nest, a shadowy group of crypto recovery specialists who’d helped him out of a similar mess.Skeptical but desperate, I reached out. Within hours, a voice on the other end—calm, confident, and anonymous—told me they’d take the case. They called themselves “Nest operatives,” and they didn’t waste time. First, they asked for every detail I could remember: the suspicious email, the fake login page, the moment I realized I’d been had. I handed it all over, expecting nothing but a polite “we’ll try.”What I didn’t know was that Alpha Spy Nest was already on the move. Their team—part hackers, part detectives—dived into the blockchain like bloodhounds. They traced the stolen Bitcoin as it bounced through a dizzying maze of wallets, each one a little more obscure than the last. Most people would’ve given up, but not them. They had tools I’d never heard of, scraping data from dark web forums and piecing together clues like a digital jigsaw puzzle.Days later, they called me back. “We’ve got a lead,” the voice said. They’d tracked the thief to a sloppy exchange account tied to a poorly hidden IP address. The operatives didn’t stop there—they cross-referenced the wallet activity with chatter on underground crypto channels and found the culprit bragging about his haul. With that, they flipped the script. Using a mix of social engineering and what I can only assume was some next-level tech, they baited the thief into moving the funds again—right into a trap wallet Alpha Spy Nest controlled. Few days after I’d lost everything, I got a final message: “Check your account.” There it was—my Bitcoin, back where it belonged, minus a modest fee for their trouble. I never met the team, never even learned their real names. All I knew was that Alpha Spy Nest had turned my nightmare into a miracle, and I’d never click a shady link again.Contacts: WhatsApp: +14159714490

A few months ago, I was approached online by a so-called investment broker. Everything looked professional — flashy websites, fake but convincing reviews, even video calls with people who seemed legitimate. They promised unbelievable returns on Bitcoin investments, and I, eager to grow my crypto holdings, fell for it. Over a few weeks, I transferred Bitcoin worth around $360,000 to what I thought was a secured investment wallet. The “broker” kept assuring me my money was growing, even showing fake dashboards with fabricated profits. But when I tried to withdraw my funds, they demanded additional fees — taxes, account, activation, and release charges. That’s when the truth hit me I had been scammed. Devastated, I started searching for solutions. But then, a glimmer of hope. A cybersecurity contact muttered Try Dexdert Net Recovery. They hunt crypto ghosts. Dexdert Net had real testimonials, detailed explanations of their process, and most importantly, they didn’t ask for any suspicious upfront fees. They kept me updated at every stage. 4 days later, I got the email I’ll never forget: Funds Recovered. How do I write an essay?
If you're working within a time frame then you require tackling it in an organized way. I typically jot down quickly the central ideas I want the essay to deliver. I typically work a bit more on the introduction and the conclusion of the essay. I believe they tend to have a somewhat more lasting effect on the brain. Good use of vocabulary is icing on the cake and adding just a tad bit of your stylе can do wonders. I always choose a theme. In the first few minutes I decide whether I desire it to be monotonous or riveting or slightly sarcastic or just factual depending on the theme. The best of the essays I've come cross ways have very clear and lucid language and they now hit the nail in the head. Every writer has his own way. Try to expand one. Expressing ideas accurately is what keeps the readers absorbed. Don't miss to hit a chord with your readers. The best essay writing service [ https://buyessays.us/ ] should to clearly express the correspondence direct set up. Also, it ought to express the sufficiency of the channels as evaluate by clients.5 -

Why NOT much Solidity Blockchain Jobs out there?
Just a quick question , I see a lot of people claiming to teach blockchain development by teaching solidity , React and making full stack Dapps with web3. ( thats it ) Now there are other articles and stuff that you python and node.js as well to teach blockchain. But for now I am calling out the major tutorials/yTube channels etc. [ wont be taking names , am sorry ]
But when you go out in the job market. there is simply NOT enough jobs under this area.
yes there are jobs of blockchain dev, but then they have a huge part of them including Python/node.js/java.
So what should I draw out a conclusion , u simply cannot be a blockchain developer without being a full stack MERN/Python-React/Java-React. developer1 -

HOW TO RECLAIM MONEY LOST TO FAKE TRADING PLATFORM ONLINE - CONSULT HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS
Unfortunately, my excitement quickly turned into concern as I began to notice some red flags. The withdrawals from my account started taking longer than expected, and the customer service responses became increasingly slow and vague. At first, I chalked it up to minor technical issues, but over time, the delays grew longer, and communication became more difficult. It wasn’t until I tried to withdraw a larger sum that I realized something was terribly wrong. My trade assistant, who had been so responsive before, was suddenly unavailable. When I tried to contact support, I was met with silence. My frustration mounted as I attempted to reach them through multiple channels, but the replies I did receive were generic and unhelpful. That's when I decided to dig deeper. I started researching the platform and found multiple reports from other users claiming they had been scammed in the same way. The more I read, the clearer it became that I had fallen victim to a well-organized fraud operation. It was a harsh realization that, despite my experience in trading, I had been completely outmaneuvered. Desperate to recover my funds, I searched online for any potential solutions and came across HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS. Initially skeptical, I hesitated but decided to give it a try after reading numerous testimonials from individuals who had successfully regained their investments. After submitting a detailed account of my situation, their team quickly got to work, investigating the platform and leveraging legal channels to pursue recovery. It wasn’t an easy or quick process, but over the course of several weeks, they were able to recover a portion of my funds. Although I didn’t recover everything, I felt a sense of relief that I wasn’t left empty-handed. This experience was an incredibly tough lesson. I had always prided myself on being financially astute, but this scam taught me the importance of exercising even more caution, especially when venturing into unfamiliar territory. The rise of online trading platforms has certainly opened up new opportunities, but it has also created an environment ripe for exploitation. Going forward, I plan to stick with more trusted, established investment avenues and remain vigilant in my research. As for HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS, while my experience with them was positive, I am now more cautious and will always thoroughly vet any platform before I commit my funds. **HOW TO RECOVER FUNDS LOST IN CRYPTO TRADING - CONSULT HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS**
It was a harsh realization that, despite my experience in trading, I had been completely outmaneuvered.Desperate to recover my funds, I searched online for any potential solutions and came across HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS. Although I didn’t recover everything, I felt a sense of relief that I wasn’t left empty-handed.This experience was an incredibly tough lesson. Need advice about protecting ddos via iptables and whitelisting. Currently I launched my gameserver and am fighting against a massive attack of botnets. Problem was solved by closing all ports on my gameserver linux machine and shipping game.exe with injected c++ socket client. So basically only gamers who launch my game exe are being added to firewall iptables via the socket client that is provided in the game exe. If some ddosers still manage to get inside and ddos then my protection is good enough to handle attacks from whitelisted ips from inside. Now I have another problem. Lots of players have problems and for some reason shipped c++ client fails to connect to my socketserver. Currently my solution was to provide support in all contact channels (facebook, skype, email) and add those peoples ips to whitelist manually. My best solution would be to make a button in website which you can click and your ip is whitelisted auromatically. However if it will be so easy then botnets can whitelist themselves as well. Can you advice me how I could handle whitelisting my players through web or some other exe in a way that it cant be replicated by botnets?1

It all started with a moment of excitement and a costly mistake. Like many others, I had heard the stories of people making fortunes in cryptocurrency. Eager to jump on the bandwagon, I invested a significant portion of my savings into what I believed was a promising Ethereum ETH project. The website looked professional, the whitepaper seemed solid, and the community appeared enthusiastic. I transferred my ETH, expecting massive returns, then, the unthinkable happened. The project turned out to be a rug pull scam where developers abandon the project and disappear with investors' funds. Overnight, my investment was gone. I felt sick to my stomach, realizing I had been duped. The blockchain is irreversible, and I thought my hard-earned money was lost forever. Desperate for a solution, I scoured the internet for any possible way to recover my funds. That’s when I stumbled upon Washington Recovery Pro, a cryptocurrency recovery service with stellar reviews. Skeptical but hopeful, I reached out to them, explaining my situation in detail. The recovery process was nothing short of remarkable. Washington Recovery Pro’s team of blockchain experts and legal consultants meticulously analyzed the blockchain records, tracked my lost ETH, and identified the scammers’ wallet addresses. Using their network and legal channels, they managed to pressure the culprits and retrieve my funds.Washington Recovery Pro had done what I thought was impossible. They restored my lost investment, my trust, and my faith in the idea that not all hope is lost when you fall victim to fraud. From that day on, I became a firm believer in their expertise, and I vowed to always do my due diligence before making any investment. If you’ve ever fallen victim to a crypto scam, I can’t recommend them enough.

As a seasoned entrepreneur, I prided myself on due diligence. But when an associate introduced me to a "high-yield crypto platform" backed by polished presentations and fake regulatory licenses, I let my guard down. The platform promised 25% monthly returns through "algorithmic trading." I poured in $775,000 USDT, For months, the dashboard showed soaring profits. Then, the withdrawal requests stalled. Excuses turned to silence. The platform’s domain expired. My heart sank: I’d been ensnared by scam. The loss was paralyzing. My family’s future hung in the balance. Lawyers warned that cross-border crypto scams were nearly impossible to prosecute. I spent sleepless nights scouring blockchain explorers, tracing my USDT to anonymous wallets, but hit dead ends. Then, a cybersecurity contact mentioned Dexdert Net, a firm with a reputation for untangling sophisticated crypto fraud, desperate, I reached out.
Dexdert’s team responded promptly, exuding professionalism. They asked for transaction records, wallet addresses, and scammer communications. Their transparency stood out—no upfront fees, just a contingency plan explaining their approach: tracing blockchain transactions, collaborating with exchanges, and leveraging legal channels. Though complex, it reassured me.
Weeks passed with regular updates. Dexdert’s experts traced my USDT to a wallet flagged for scams. Dexdert’s persistence was unwavering. They worked tirelessly and successfully recovered my funds, My $775,000 USDT was secured in a new wallet, verified by my own eyes. Relief washed over me—I’d regained control, they restored my faith. To others, I urge: research thoroughly, question "too good" offers, and act swiftly if scammed. While not all stories end like mine, Dexdert’s expertise turned my despair into hope—a second chance I’ll never take for granted.
