I love how my laptop crashed twice in less than 30 minutes.
I thought is was the shit load of windows.
But it was a driver problem.
Lying bastard of a teacher.
This is year I'll graduate from my high school. But before that we have to pass the final examination. One part of that examination is presenting a project, which we should complete within this year. Each student has to choose a mentor/supervisor to help him on them on their project. I chose a professor who'll leave the school in January because of her pregnancy.
This is the part where the bastard, who asked me whether I use HTML or CSS for a website, barges in.
Given the fact that he incompetence be matched by his arrogance, nobody would ever choose him. He has to watch while other ring the other professors. He asks desperately for students, but everyone already has a mentor.
Yesterday he told me that my mentor will leave this January and that she already WROTE him an email where she asked him to continue mentoring her students. I was kinda confused, so I told him I would talk it over with my mentor and guve him an answer on a later date.
Today the truth comes forth. She didn't write anything. This bastard invented all of it. She even told us that she is aware of this guy is incompetent and that she would have asked a teacher with a good reputation.
But I'm furious. Not only did he waste my precious time with that conversation, which he follow up with the most basic way of time managing you could think of.
HE STRAIGHT UP LIED TO STUDENTS TRYING TO BOOST HIS NONEXISTENT REPUTATION.
I am not comfortable with a person like that being able to give me marks. Just yeet him out already!5
I submitted a PR on Eclipse Che, filed ECA, etc. etc.
It's not my first contribution however, I've been working on their dockerfiles repo for a while.
...then they merge my shit without waiting for QA...
excuse me what the fuck2
When you become or became a programmer / software engineer, what are or did you reward yourself with for your hard work and success? For me, I want a Subaru STI😁12
Wanted to test whether my card worked online or not (was having some issues with it) and decided to try becoming a devRant supporter, and it worked!
Gotta say, I feel really happy to be able to give back to devRant and show my support by doing something as small as this. Loving the darker theme too.
Thanks for everything so far, devRant, and happy to be a supporter.
I'm fucking done.
I honestly can't see how developers like to work for years on a single project. Nothing on the side, just the one project. Fuck I'm a year in and I've already been pushing my patience.
After working on something for half a year I want some diversity, but every time I ask for it I get the "we need you doing this" card. I've asked plenty of times for my manager to find someone else to do part of my work, and every time I get the same thing. "We're looking for someone, don't worry". Yeah my ass you've been saying that for months and I still haven't seen a job opening.
Honestly, in a month or so I'm gonna tell my manager that I'm quitting soon, so he has some time to actually go look for someone. If he doesn't, not my problem.
For real though, the company is nice, people are chill, I'm just lacking challenge, and no matter how many times I bring it up, nothing's being done with it.
What will I do when I quit? I have no fucking clue, but anything's better than doing the same repetitive shit day in day out. Fuck it I'll probably go balls deep on my own projects for a few months, see if I can generate an income there.
If that doesn't work out I'll just go back to the life of sucking someone's dick for a monthly salary.4
Okay so I jumped on this app because I would ideally want to make friends interested in the stuff I am.
Using this app has really made me realise how much of a noob I am though. I feel like I'm doomed to never find the kinda people I wanna know.5
once I downloaded a zip from MediaFire from an "idiot kid" (you know the kind) and I opened it. The format was invalid. I open it in notepad and guess what? IT'S A FUCKING RAR FILE! so I rename the extension to rar, lo and behold, yeet, it works. Don't trust idiot kids. ever.4
I'm gonna be job shadowing some programmers to see what it's like first hand in the field soon! Its my senior year and it'll count as a field trip for my school so I won't get counted absent!!3
About to come up with an idea for an app and code it in a few hours before the deadline to a competition I forgot about let's go lol
Lazy piece of shit deliveryman simply stating that nobody was at home when in fact, the only person that wasn't there was him. No bell was ringing and my phone didn't receive any calls either. Customer service wasn't even that surprised when I asked them about it.
"Yeah, I tried to call the guy, but he wouldn't answer. I'm gonna try sending him again"
Boi, just yeet that bitch from your business!3
Sometimes, certain features don't work in my app if it's uploaded to the production track in Google Play.
It works in debug mode.
It works in release mode.
It works in the internal testing track.
...but it won't work in the production track? Y'know, the one that actually matters? Theoretically, there shouldn't really be a difference if the same exact APK was uploaded to the internal testing and production track, but... idk dude.
As a result, I implemented a secret way to test a feature in the production build (it's an app to remotely control OBS Studio): if the first connection you added is named "yayeet_" and you open the disclaimer, it tests the feature. Luckily, I got some of the stuff figured out, but I just thought the way I had to test it in production was dumb.1
Recruiter writes to me on LinkedIn for a job
Have an interview with the recruiter, everything smooth
Then interview with the HR of the company, everything smooth
Then the HR talks to the CTO, and the CTO is like "mmmmh this guy works as a consultant, I don't like this. Yeet him".
This absolute madman out there not giving a single flying fuck about consultants, head hunter, HR, only pure coding, literally living the dream.1
God I HATE UNRAID! FUCK THIS PIECE OF JUNK
CRASHING EVERY FEW FUCKING HOURS
AND. I. CANT. EVEN. GET. A. FUCKING. LOG. FILE! LIKE WHAT THE HELL!
Oh, its sooo reliable they said, use Unraid they said, the docker support is amazing, they said...
FUCK IT! FUCK THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE!
I JUST WANT TO RUN PLEX AND SONARR ON ONE FUCKING MACHINE, AND UNRAID IS JUST LIKE: yeah, its a good time to crash now, YEET!
and its gone...2
Hello Devrant! It’s ya boi!
Update. Currently back in school in the Netherlands. Studying law and technology. Yeet.
But yeahhhh so stressed omfg. Finals already in October. This school is a mess.
And I’m the middle of that my thesis got rejected so here I am. Crying. Asking y’all for ideas. Anything you can think of please say.
It’s gotta be tech but a legal question. Ethical is fine too tbh. So if there is anything you’ve wondered or think is of please tell me the question. 😭
all I’ll say is that the last one they said was too vague and not specific enough. And ideally it should be AI or data science but anything tech would do.
Not sure if this is the place to ask but thank youuu.9
So i have decided to rewrite my old project from the ground. This time propely with all the bells and whisles and the proper planning.
Before i ever could start hammering at my keyboard in VS like a monkey i have encountered a few problems:
1.I want for it to be Reeeeesponsive or whatever yeet the kids think is cool now. So winforms arent going to be cut it, i would have to manualy handle resizing of the buttons and text. So UWP or WPF are the only choice.
2.I want it to be multiplatform. Some users might want to use it on windowsnt so i have to be prepared. Options: Winforms or .netcore without gui......
3.Licence - I want to allow people to use it but i always want them to know who the author is. That app wont get that much attention so allowing people only to use it is the safest option.
I wish there was a easier way...
Still i love C#6
I get stuck because I'm too frustrated, too often, and because I'm frustrated I stop doing anything and... do nothing because if I do one mistake everything else has to be wrong and I fail at everything else too right? idk my brain definitely lacks logic (not only because my code is not logical and attracks bugs far too often, but also just in general) and I can't cope yeet
how do people write their delete mutation resolvers? (like in a graceful way, i feel there should be more than just telling the datastore to yeet the record and not tell the client about more info)1
