one day my dad brings home an old blade server from work and a centos distro. we set it up in the garage of our hot Florida house and he gave me his old perl programming books and showed me a few things. I was 12 or 13. that summer I moved my bed to the garage and barely slept as I learned everything I could. I've never looked back.2

This is my first IoT project. It's pretty simple, but I've been very happy with the results thus far.
About this time last year, someone got into our garage and rifled through my wife's car.
I have a camera in my garage, and a Phillips Hue motion detector. Using the Hue's excellent API, I have a perl script that checks for motion every couple of seconds, and starts capturing from the camera via RTSP if it does. That video is then staged, ready to be uploaded to a digital ocean droplet if I click on a link in the mailgun-powered email that's then sent to me and my wife, along with a preview GIF of the video, created through the same ffmpeg process that pulled the capture from the camera.
Here you can see me getting home from work.

Every single one of them, and every one that will come after them.
Google, it started out as 2 people in their garage, wanting to make a search engine that was better than the others. Nothing else, nothing evil. Just make the world a little bit better. And look what it's become now. A megacorporation with little to no regards for their user base. Because who cares about users anyway?
Microsoft, it started out with Bill Gates - young high school computer nerd - who wanted to make an operating system for the world to use. Something that's better than the competition. And boy did he do so. Well "better than the competition" aside, he did make it for the world to use. And the world adopted it. And look what it's become now. A megacorporation with little to no regards for their user base. Because who cares about users anyway?
See where I'm going here?
Apple, it started out with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in their garage, just like Google did, wanting to make hardware that was better than the others. Nothing else, nothing evil. Just to make the world a little bit better. And look what it's become now. Planned obsolescence has been baked into it, just like it is in every other piece of technology. Quality control and thinking through the design has become a thing of the past. User choice, yeah who cares about that.
Samsung, it started out centuries ago actually, and I don't really remember the details of it.. ColdFusion has a video on it if memory serves me right. Do watch it if you're interested. Anyway, just like all the others they started out as a company which wanted to make the world a little bit better. And damn right did they do so.. initially. Look what they've become now. Forcing their stupid TouchWiz UI upon their customers (or products?), a Bixby button that can't even be reprogrammed.. and the latest thing.. Knox, advertised as a security feature, but as everyone who likes rooting their devices and mucking with it knows, it is an anti-feature that only serves for lockdown. Why shouldn't you be able to turn in a phone for RMA when a hardware error occurs, when all you've personally modified is the software? Why should changing the software blow that eFuse, so that you can be sure that you can't replace it without specialized equipment and a very steady hand?
I could go on and on forever about more of the tech giants out there, but I feel like this suffices for now. Otherwise I won't have anything else left for future rants! But one thing I know for sure. Every tech company started, starts, and will start out with a desire to make the world a better place, and once they gain a significant customer base, they will without exception turn into the same kind of Evil Megacorp., just like the ones before them. Some may say that capitalism itself is to blame for this, the greed for more when you already have a lot. Who knows? I'd rather say that the very human nature itself is to blame for it. We're by design greedy beings, and I hate it. I hate being human for that. I don't want humans to be evil towards one another, and be greedy for ever more. But I guess that that's just the way it is, and some things do actually never change...17 -
Found an old monitor in our garage and decided to hook it up to my laptop. Yes, I am learning how to use Linux :D

Finished an MVP of my garage-opener-thingamajig!
Basically I decided I wanted to control my garage from my app. Retail solutions are expensive af. As a dev, the choice was easy!
RPI3
HC-SR04 sensor
DHT temperature sensor
5v Relay
Nativescript + Angular
Firebase
Result: i can open my garage anywhere, safely (sorta?) via firebase, and get push notifs when it gets opened (from hcsr04), which triggers the pi camera, while also getting live temp feeds (this one is kinda for the giggles and utterly pointless but NUMBERZ!)
Anyway - fun side project! First version of my app looks like this. Its very rough, and I have a couple more details I wanna display, but for a first time app I'm happy!

!rant Went shooting for the first time over the weekend. Was so proud of my grouping that I hung my target on the door to the garage on the side that faces the garage so if anyone breaks into my garage they have to see it before getting into the house. 😂

Building a web based recipe book for my mother in law.
My brother in law, sorced the hw (touch screen aio)
I build the website build in php symfony3.
Running on a rpi in the garage.
She loves it and keeps telling everyone about it every chance she gets.
Currently re writing it in Django (for fun)1 -
Since I already posted images of my desktop setups at work(Mac) and home(Linux), I didn't want to repost this week. So, to keep it at least mildly interesting, here's a shot of my garage networking setup.
Pictured:
Ubiquiti Edgerouter-L
Ubiquiti UAP-AC Lite
Drobo 5N
TP-Link cable modem
A big UPS, so we'll still have wifi during a power outage, since that's apparently important
A couple of older machines I'm working on when I have time
A Philips Hue Bridge
An unremarkable 7-port switch
An Ooma phone device
A shitload of my wife's stuff that she's left there on her way in and out of the house.

So apparently I own land in dubai. Like three separate mortgages based on the email I received.
Your request (Mortgage Registration)
with request number xxxxx / 2024
has been completed
and you can print your issued certificate from this [link]
I've stripped out the numbers and link.
After confirming it was safe I followed through on a old spare cellphone, and yep, I own three mortgages for properties in dubai.
Except obviously I don't.
Someone used my name, an american, to register mortgages in dubai. *Nice* properties according to the pictures.
What started out as a scam email, or what looked like a scam email, went to an actual government of dubai website, with real mortgage registrations.
How in the fuck does that happen?
The only thing I can think of is someone committed identity fraud, and/or an alphabet agency went through the list of known political dissidents, set up a bullshit mortgage in a questionable territory, and are now using that as a pretext to monitor 'extremists with foreign ties.'
All that for some guy on the west coast that hasn't attended a political rally in his entire life.
Must have been that sign I held at sixteen years old by the side of the road that said "bush lied us into a war, and people died."
or maybe it was that time I told a really enthusiastic obama supporting police officer that it amazed me obama had time to win the nobel peace prize what with all the bombings he carried out against foreign civilians.7 -
Not really a programming story... but a story about how programmers problem solve in real life.
Mods, sort me out if I'm out of line. Anyway, here goes.
So, my wife and I are arguing about whether or not the garage has insulated walls.
"It doesn't have insulated walls", I say, "I've been up in the rafters and their's no insulation there, so there's probably none in the walls."
"Well, why can't you just check", my better half responds, "You could just punch a hole in the wall to see."
Me, taking about 300ms to process this statement. Looks over, and punches a hole in the wall.
"See, no insulation!!!" I say triumphantly.
"What. The. Fuck. Did you just punch a hole in the wall for???"
deerinheadlights.gif
"Um, because you told me to?"
"Well I didn't mean to use your hand, I meant to get a small drill so the hole wouldn't be enormous."
"Well you didn't say "get a small drill", you said "punch"!
And as a laid down to sleep, on the couch, that night I still insist she told me to do it. And while I patched that hole, I still thought it was her fault. And to this day I still think it's her fault.
You cannot give a programmer these vague instructions and expect appropriate results.5 -
I was 11-12, the year was 1995. My mom was so sick of me screwing up the business computer (286), she bought me an old XT at a garage sale. It had a monochrome monitor and a 40 kB HDD. I taught myself qbasic on it. I knew right there I wanted to build stuff in code for a living.

Evaluating some WiFi ESP8266 modules. 01, 12S, 14. Programming is very simple with Arduino IDE and esp8266 community.
This iot world really excite me.
ESP-01 about 1$, oled display about 2.5$...
Project is to create my own HomeKit modules. (Relay switch, temps, garage door, etc..)

As a uni student not yet into heavy projects yet @DiNozzo97 and I made a mock smart house out of MDF, put controllable rgb LEDs in each room, lockable doors (demonstrated with servos), an openable garage (also servos), and thermistors taking an average temperature of all the rooms with an air con (PC fan). All of which was controllable with a website openable anywhere, run on a Pi. Oh and we integrated a doorbell that linked to twillio that sent you a text, if you replied with a positive response the door would unlock!

Me: “Hey Siri, turn off the kitchen ceiling lights”
Siri: “Do you want to turn off lights in the master bedroom, the living room, the bonus room, the kitchen, the office, the basement [ad nauseam]”
Me: “the kitchen” [thinking 😠, she’s so stupid]
Siri: [unbelievably again] “Do you want to turn off lights in the master bedroom, the living room, the bonus room, the kitchen, the office, the basement [ad nauseam]”
Me: [thinking 😡 OMG, she is such a dumb ass] “CANCEL”
Siri: “Ok”
Me: “Siri, you fucking idiot, turn off the kitchen ceiling lights”
Siri: “Ok” [and they are off]
I have found that if I neg’ Siri, she performs so much better. Interestingly enough, when I neg her, she works almost flawlessly, especially where she brain-farted before. Negatronic Brain?
In front of kids it has become “Siri, you daft bot, close the garage door” and regularly “Siri, you bimbo, lock the front door”.
My wife thinks that once Siri gets it on with ChatGPT, becomes sentient, and gains control of my car, she is run my ass over.
Here is the gotcha, I’m working on a project that actually does provide Siri a level control of automobiles. Now who’s the [really frustrated] dumbass?22 -
The good and bads of Seoul subway system
So the subway here is clean.
Yes. Clean.
1000% cleaner than the one in Paris.
And it is super cool here.
Awesome air conditioning available here.
But, it isnt friendly to foreigners. They cant understand most of the announcement. Why? B'cuz it is mostly in Korean.
So today i experienced some foreigner desperately looking for help.
Our subway needed some quick fox or rest or whatever, so it had to stop and go to the garage(?).
If that happens, all passengers should get off the train.
B'cuz the announcement was in korean only, he was the only one who stayed in the train.
I wanted to go to him and say to come out, but because there was so many people around me, i just beckoned him to come out. He did.
I just felt sorry for no reason.
I mean, just.4 -
I recently tried to apply the same data analytics rationale that I use at work to my personal life. This is not a rant, it is more like an data storytelling of an actual use case I would like some input on.
I set a goal - gotta thin up a bit and calm down my ticker - and got a (almost unreasonably expensive) field expert consultant to yell at me about it for a couple hours.
I unravel the metrics - there is like a million weight-related KPIs and most say nothing at all. I have never seen an non-infrastructure measurable subject that could not be resumed to 2-5 performance metrics. I got overall weight, how well my nine-years-old business suit fits me, heart rate, and day-after relative muscle pain (it will make sense soon).
Then its data-pipeline time. I bought a cheap weight scale and smartwatch, and every morning I input the data in an app. Yes, I try to put on the suit every morning. It still does not fit.
After establishing a baseline, I tried to fit different approaches. Doing equipment-free exercises, going to the gym, dieting. None was actually feasible in the long run, but trying different approaches does highlight the impacts and the handling profile of each method.
Looking at the now-gathered data, one thing was obvious - can't do dieting because it is not doable to have a shopping list and meals for me and another for the family.
Gym is also off the table - too much overhead. I spend more time on the trip there and back than actually there.
And home exercise equipment is either super crappy or very expensive. But it is also the most reasonable approach.
So it is solutions time. I got a nice exercise bycicle (not a peloton), an yoga mat (the wife already had that one) and an exercise program that uses only those two resources. Not as efficient without dieting, not as measurable and broad as the gym, but it fits my workflow. Deploy to production!
A few months pass and the dataset grows. The signal is subtle but has support - it works! The handling, however, needs improvement, since I cannot often enough get with the exercise program. Some mornings are just after some hard days.
I start thinking about what else I can improve in the program, but it is already pretty lean and full of compromises.
So I pull an engineer and start thinking about the support systems and draft profile. What else could be draining my willpower and morning time?
Chores. Getting the kids ready for school, firing up the moka pot, setting the off-brand roomba, folding the overnight-dried clothes, cooking breakfast, doing the dishes, cleaning the toilets. All part of my morning routine. It might benefit from some automation.
Last month I got that machine our elders call "wasteful" and "useless crap lazy entitled Americans invented because they feel oh-so-insulted for simply doing something by hand like everyone always did" - a "dish-washer".
Heh, I remember how hard was to convince my mother-in-law that an remote-controled electric garage door would not make she look like an spoiled brat.
Still to early to call, but I think that the dishwasher just saved me about 25 mins every morning. It might be enough to save willpower for me to do more exercise.
This is all so reflective of all data analytics cases really are out in the wild - the analytics phase seems so small compared to the gathering and practical problem-solving all around. And yet d.a. is what tells you that you are doing the wrong thing all along. Or on what you should work next.7 -
Rant.TYPE_REAL_LIFE
So I go for a run for the first time, well, ever. I put my keychain in my pocket and I'm off with my headphones on. Come back home I FUCKING LOST MY WHOLE KEYCHAIN. Key to my house, my apartment, the garage remote, .. fucking dogshit man. Tried to track it down by going down the same path twice but no luck so now my only hope is the police but what are the odds :/3 -
I just found out my parents have less than $30 in the bank by the end of each month after all expenses...
We are not living. We are barely surviving....
Every day in my house it is dark and the lights are off. They turn all lights off in order to avoid getting a high electricity bill. I have to use my phone's flashlight as the main source of light in my own house, as if i live in abandoned cottage in the middle of a forest.....
Both my parents are jobless (have been their entire lives). They just borrow money from their family members and grandparents to pay these bills every month. They depended on luck their whole lives. A luck in context of "maybe if i dont work anything at all then a huge pile of money will fall down from the sky!".
So now I, as their son, have to grow up in extreme poverty and fight my way up, because of DUMB, STUPID people. They are good people, but what does being a good person bring if you are fucking stupid and valueless?
I knew i was poor but today i found out i was THIS poor. I had no idea we were THIS much poor. Because today my 4g internet got cut off due to not paying bills. The bill is $30. My dad cant pay it cause he doesnt have $30 in the bank. I was in shock. So i had to pay it
My $8.125 usd an hour backend software engineer + DevOps engineer (2 jobs in 1), is considered as LUXURIOUS SALARY, in the most corrupted country of Europe -- SERBIA 🇷🇸
When i tell the world i make $8 an hour with a computer science degree working as a software engineer, they laugh at me. People mock me "bro even a mcdonalds worker earns $17/hour what are you doing" im doing what i was born into -- born into poverty of a third world shithole country.
With my $8 an hour salary, i am in TOP 3% of the HIGHEST earners in serbia. Can you fucking imagine how miserable lives do people live if this is not even an average salary, but among the ELITE salary? Because the average salary in Serbia, is $3.75 usd an hour, sometimes even less than that.
When people say "its not about luck its about hard work", please, GO. FUCK. YOURSELF.
Go and be born in a shithole third world country. Now on top of that be born in poverty due to poor decisions of your parents. Go ahead and try it. Lets see how hard you fucking have to work to get to the same level compared to someone who was born into for example America, where you get paid 6 figures immediately after graduating computer science. Or on top of that, you're born in a wealthy family in america. Did you work hard to be born in the 1st class freak show or were you LUCKY to be gifted such life?
My whole life i have been fighting to get money and escape this misery due to poor decisions of my parents.
Very ironically, my parents have lived extremely luxurious lives in the 90s. They had 5 cars. 1 huge house with a backyard garage private office private jacuzzi private gym. This house was worth at least 500k in the 90s. Today this house would cost at least 1.5 or 2 million. They went to luxurious travels. Hotels of $5000 per night per person. Literally wasted 45k in 3 days just for hotel. They even GAVE AWAY FOR FREE money to our relatives and cousins, taking them on luxurious vacations for free etc. None of those people appreciated them, none of them came to help them in tough times, everyone forgot about them and abandoned us.
Like i said, my parents are good people, but what does it profit being a good person if you are FUCKING STUPID.
They were extremely LUCKY but their STUPIDNESS has made them broke. I couldn't be THIS much fucking stupid even if i tried hard.
Nobody is coming to save us. No one cares. Its all up to me now. All the pressure and stress and poverty is passed and inherited onto my life now. its up to me to either get rich or end my STUPID bloodline
I am living a very difficult life and no one seems to understand this...23 -
14 years of age, couldnt go with to the beach with my sister the weekend (all older friends and they wanted to have fun) spent the weekend:
1. Waking up
2. Cleaning yard and garage
3. Finding old pc of my fathers
4. Him telling me he will tell me how to install windows 95 (we were not that up to speed with the latests trends at the time)
5. Running in and out installing and asking for commands on how to install things and run things
Fast faward a few years, im now a web developer working from home (recently retrenched) and my sister asking me to get a job where i work. -
All British inventions:
- were invented in a garage
- are still being built in a garage
- would've been better if they were built in a garage.2 -
I got inspired to make my code as closest to perfection as possible for me by my uncle. Seriously - he was real handyman.
Once he had an accident in his car (I think it was Škoda 100) because of the drunk pedestrian. The car engine was ruined, as like back of the car. He disassembled the car bolt by bolt (he was writing all the actions in his notebook). He then bought exact parts and paint (which wasn’t easy in 80’s Poland) and fixed the car alone in his garage.
Even tho everyone was telling him to give up, it will not work, etc. the car started at the first try and you couldn’t spot any damage. Even the paint on the body was matched 1:1.
This story inspires me to don’t give up and try to do my job as best as possible - even if everyone else says I can’t do it. -
My Dad! He used to write private projects in Clipper an dBASE and was quite successful.
At the age of 10 I asked him why I couldn't play games (he was on the pc)... and he showed me then stuck the dBASE book in my hand and told me to design an inventory system for his garage...
That was the beginning4 -

Damn, bought a new car two days ago and already I am sitting here at the garage again for that stupid engine light.
Things like these make me realize I am becoming an adult.
I don’t want to be a adult.1 -
Parking here fucking sucks.
I just made a url shortcut for finding parking, it redirects to the site of a parking lot 15 miles away, because if you get here after 8am, there is no parking. If you want me to work, then give me a place to park my car. Spend some of that executive bonus on building a new parking garage you dog rocket sucking suits.1 -
This was initially a reply to a rant about politics ruining the industry. Most of it is subjective, but this is how I see the situation.
It's not gonna ruin the industry. It's gonna corrupt it completely and fatally, and it will continue developing as a toxic sticky goo of selfishness and a mandatory lack of security until it chokes itself.
Because if something can get corrupted, it will get corrupted. The only way for us as a species to make IT into a worthy industry is to screw it up countless times over the course of a hundred years until it's as stable and reliable as it can possibly be and there are as many paradigms and individually reasonable standards as there can possibly be.
Look around, see the ridiculus amount of stupid javascript frameworks, most of which is just shitcode upon vulnerabilities upon untested dependencies. Does this look to you like an uncorrupted industry?
The entire tech is rotting from the hundreds of thousands of lines of proprietary firmware and drivers through the overgrown startup scene to fucking Node.js, and how technologies created just a few decades ago are unacceptable from a security standpoint. Check your drivers and firmware if you can, I bet you can't even see the build dates of most firmware you run. You can't even know if it was built after any vulnerability regarding that specific microcontroller or whatever.
Would something like this work in chemical engineering? Hell no! This is how fucking garage meth labs work, not factories or research labs. You don't fucking sell people things without mandatory independent testing. That's how a proper industry works. Not today's IT.
Of course it's gonna go down in flames. Greed had corrupted the industry, and there's nothing to be done about it now but working as much as we can, because the faster we move the sooner we'll get stuck and the sooner we can start over on a more reasonable foundation.
Or rely on layers of abstraction and expect our code to be compilable on anything the future holds for us.2 -
At school during my first Java project we had to make a simulation of a parking garage and what effects price changes would have in order to find the most optimal business model from some company.
At the project kick off.
School: "we will be checking your code for plagiarism. if you use code from the internet, even if its 2 lines you need to mention the source. otherwise you will fail this cource."
We go on to do the project.
Friend of mine who was in another class sees a group presenting a 2 days old version of my teams application. theres literaly a credits button that displays the names of the people that worked on it in a popup.
Me: mentions to a teacher that my project was stolen.
They literaly didnt even change the name and pulled the entire repository from github and handed it in.
The fucking teacher doesnt even check the code / git logs after i mentioned that the entire codebase was stolen from a public github repository.
There was an endless mountain of proof to support my claim such as our team members names hard coded in the code they handed in and about 500 commits from our accounts.
I will from now on NEVER EVER mention sources when i hand in code at school.1 -
A typical (Covid) day (for me) being self employed. I tend to start working at around 8am, only break to make coffee, and by 3:30 in the afternoon I fall asleep til 5pm. Then I get some food, play my bass, mess around in garage band, drink a bottle of wine, watch some crap movie, go to bed around 1:00am rinse and repeat. I never work weekends anymore. Interested to know your Covid day,.5

I just got an old refurb for the garage to run my camera capture stuff, as the raspberry pi wasn't cutting it. I thought for a split second about leaving the legit version of Windows 10 that came with it on it, and trying to do some in-home streaming over steam, but I found out very quickly that an old corporate refurb is not going to cut it for game streaming. And with all the complete nonsense you have to abide to make Windows usable(ie: disabling stuff you don't want), it's not going to be any use to me in Windows if it can't stream.
Also, for some reason, Windows just wouldn't use the built-in NIC at all. It reported the cable was unplugged, and just absolutely would not work. So, Debian it is, and lo and behold! The NIC works like a champ now. The camera capture works brilliantly too, so now I can turn off my desktop at night.
Linux just works. Windows, more and more all the time, is just more trouble than it's worth.2 -
Its strange how the process of building a house/building can be so different from building software even if the costs are the same!
Imagine hiring a construction company to construct a building, you give them a vague idea how idea how it should look thinking "i can always change stuff later for now i just need to get this started"
Then when the house is allmost done you say "make the windows bigger and the garage into an office"
After another week you say "we have been thinking and we would really like the living room to be under ground instead of above, and please rotate the entire house so we can have some morning sun" -
Just started playing Rust again after like 9 years and holy shit is this game not noob friendly at all
I play(ed) on a relatively chill server where raiding is only enabled in the last week before wipe every month and it's not too many people playing
So I'm out on adventure, I come back and my entire base is raided... Uhm okay, I did sort of have an uneasy feeling that I left the door open when I left so okay, my dumb mistake. Lesson learned: Always make sure doors are definitely closed
So I farmed hours more to get all my stuff back, repaired a vehicle, built a nice little garage, upgraded all my windows to reinforced windows so that nobody can interact with the car or my horse inside the house, just in case that allows you mount and get in the house that way, no clue
This day I log back in. Base completely cleaned the fuck out again
Actually what the fuck man. I did *everything* right, made sure every door is locked and closed, replaced all accessible windows with reinforced ones, had 27 days of upkeep materials and still, my entire progress of 10 hours of playing is gone again
What did I do wrong? After talking with people in chat apparently I had wooden frames for the doors, which apparently are just always destroyable by anyone... Even on a damn server where raiding is disabled. Yea sure makes sense
I like Rust but holy shit, this core game mechanic of raiding is still one I cannot get over. It's so stupid to be cleaned out over night while you're not even online. It's just fucking frustrating to start all over AGAIN farming and farming and farming. I didn't really want to play because the game always looked like a meta gaming sweat fest and this just proves that it's exactly that. You have to know every single meta game mechanic to even have your damn base survive overnight
On a positive note I did figure out that unity's concurrent garbage collection doesn't seem to be a big problem for a proper fps game though, so that's something5 -

In the past two hours my wife has painted half of our garage.
Visual studio started installing before that. For fuck sake what is taking so long!!!!!!????!!5 -
TL;DR: idiot 'team leader' does mindless merge to master. Precious time wasted in a high pressure deadline environment.
So, i work currently at one of Belgiums largest consulting company's at brussels airport, we are moving their analytics platform to the cloud.
We use puppet to manage the systems.
When i started i noticed immediately that their 'development workflow' is hardly to be named as such, because they simply change stuff directly on server , manual 'temporary' fixes everywhere, hardcoded stuff, non validated code... Basically the way one would develop in their garage, not in a consulting company as this one. But that is just the beginning.
A month ago i did a major effort to equalize all the discrepancies between the codebase and the server. Ensured entire codebase to be validated, syntax checked, parsed, tested... It works. A 'great codebase overhaul' commit was PR'ed to master and got merged.
Yesterday the team lead, i'll call him 'B-tard' from here on, has also 'equalized the discrepancies between codebase, server and the restnof the stale branches on the repo' . i was doing my other work on my branch so no fucks given. This is where i should have given some fucks.
Anyways, today. The day starts every day with merging the master branch into your working branh because you need the latest working codebase, right?
Wrong!
This fucking dipshit smug b-tard has done a mindless merge of the entire codebase, effectively removing ALL validated working code for provisioning servers. Control blocks, lookup functions, lambda's... Basically everything he did not understand.
At the same time the project is already way beyond the allotted budget in pkney and time, so there is a huge pressure to have a working 'production' environment TODAY!
THIS MOTHERFUCKING B-TARD JUST MADE THAT IMPOSSIBLE.
i'm loving this assignment, i'm loving the PM, the collegues, the environment, the location... everything. All but this fuckibg b-tard that somehow got his position by sucking dick or licking ass or both...
I wanna get out asap.
Oh... While typing this and arriving at the room of the office... It is locked, i have no key.
Fucking asshole!1 -
Do you ever feel like now that you reached your goal of being a developer that there is nothing left to look forward to? I feel like all the best parts of my life are over. I will never have a first love again, I will never be young again, and all that’s left is working a shit job where everyone else could give two shits less about craftsmanship so I can survive and then eventually dying.
A week ago I climbed on to the ledge of the parking garage and intended to jump. But I got scared and climbed back over and threw up everywhere. I feel like I am in a better place now, but I still don’t know what I am living for. It all feels so pointless. Does anyone else on devRant feel that way right now?4 -
At the parking garage downtown.
Reported issues with 4th floor "down" arrow buttons for the elevator a couple of times. Elevator and inside buttons still worked fine.
A couple of weeks later, elevator is turned off.2 -

It'd be pretty cool to do well enough in my career that I can buy my dad a garage and we can fuck about the rest of our lives doing up cars.
Also, if I could make some significant contribution to some OSS, that would be great. -

It's a public holiday (I follow company's country's public holidays).
Wake up. Feeling good.
See message wishing me that I don't wake up - lol.
Msg peeps hello, and go help mom she's in a rush.
Qt says hello.
Help mom go to work (garage door is manual).
Wish qt good luck with stuff today - no reply, guess I just missed her
Go back to sleep

Wake up again, Life's still good™️
Reply back, it's a public holiday but if they want other/extra days just let me know - all good.

Jam some guitar, do decently but not quite getting it right - but it's fun so it's all right
Qt updates about day - sounds like fun
Check in with friend, seems to be doing ok, he's been dealing with a bunch of things atm.

It gets too warm to stay in bed, doens't matter, feel physically even better (aka bags under eyes are much less)
Qt back online, shares cool pic of castle
Realise I can get best of both worlds using pointers... This is getting stupid, whatever.

Order food for mom and I - because why not. Hmmm a bit pricey.
Chat a bit more with peeps till mom is home.
Go chat with mom food should be here soon...
App says food is on it's way, great I'm like 2 minutes away.
20 minutes later, (1 hour after ordering) call up, "um yeah, that will still take a while"
Friends messages, he's been made redundant after CEO explodes and fires managers
Mom getting annoyed, if she had had to work she'd have been in bed already.
Now 2 hours after ordering food, call up again. "Yeah it ready we're sending it over now" - great hang up.
Get food, it's good. They included an extra beer - they offered, and I picked, spring rolls, but whatever.
Finish the first beer, look at the bottle, it's grody - at least the neck is clean, same with the other bottle.
Chat with peeps
Realise that it's not as good as the one I remember. That's export vs local version, I guess.
Chat with qt
Realise it's late and didn't really touch projects I wanted to #ItHappens
Starting to get tired again
Me still happy. Glad I woke up chipper. Let the happy flow
Also, my PC randomly started having lag spikes today - should probably just reboot #WindowsProblems
Not really a rant, since I'm just kinda shrugging it off, but I know if I didn't wake up in such a good mood I would have been pretty annoyed. Perspective is everything or some other philosophical shenanigans, you guys tell me the right term/saying5 -
I like ups. They are one of the biggest airlines in the world, deliver incredibly fast over incredible distances, but
Fuck their website!
At least they've updated the design but the functionality is just garbage. I wanted to track a package that is on its way to me. And I wanted the delivery person to know that he could put the package in the garage if nobody is home. I had to register for two different services (God knows what's the difference) and even then ups somehow knew an old address (I believe I managed to get stuck there In the past) which I couldn't remove. I found the option to tell the delivery person to put the package in the garage in some random menu but I don't know if it is for the right address or package.
Why is it so fucked up? Everybody else (DHL for example) has a decent site on which all the stuff is easily manageable.4 -

Expert Garage Door Service: Professional Garage Door Tune-Up in Scottsdale, AZ
Your garage door plays a crucial role in the safety and functionality of your home or business. It’s one of the most frequently used parts of your property, and over time, regular use can cause wear and tear on its components. To ensure that your garage door remains in top working condition, it’s essential to have it properly maintained with a garage door tune-up. At Expert Garage Door Service, we provide expert garage door tune-up services in Scottsdale, AZ, and the surrounding areas. Our goal is to keep your garage door operating smoothly, extend its lifespan, and prevent costly repairs down the road.
What Is a Garage Door Tune-Up?
A garage door tune-up is a comprehensive service that involves inspecting, cleaning, and adjusting various components of your garage door system. Regular tune-ups are essential for maintaining optimal performance and ensuring that all parts of your garage door are functioning correctly. Just like a car needs regular oil changes and maintenance, your garage door requires periodic inspections and adjustments to keep it running smoothly.
Why Is a Garage Door Tune-Up Important?
There are several key reasons why a garage door tune-up is an essential service for your home or business:
1. Prevent Unexpected Breakdowns
A garage door tune-up helps identify potential issues before they become major problems. By catching issues early, such as worn-out springs or misaligned tracks, you can avoid costly repairs or complete system failure. Regular maintenance ensures that your garage door operates smoothly and reliably for years to come.
2. Extend the Lifespan of Your Garage Door
With routine tune-ups, your garage door and its components will last longer. By keeping springs, cables, tracks, and openers in good condition, you can delay the need for replacements and save money on long-term repairs. A well-maintained garage door can last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, depending on the quality of the system and how well it is cared for.
3. Enhance Safety and Security
A malfunctioning garage door can be a safety hazard. Worn-out springs or cables can lead to the door unexpectedly falling, which could cause injury or property damage. A garage door tune-up ensures that all safety features, such as auto-reverse functions and sensors, are working correctly, protecting both your family and your property.
4. Improve Performance
Regular maintenance ensures that your garage door operates efficiently. A well-tuned system runs more quietly, opens and closes more smoothly, and uses less energy. If your garage door is noisy or struggles to open, a tune-up can often resolve these issues, making your door work like new.
5. Increase Energy Efficiency
If your garage door isn’t sealed properly or its insulation is damaged, it can cause energy loss. A tune-up includes checking the seals and weather stripping around your door to ensure it’s properly insulated, helping you save on energy bills by keeping your home better protected from outdoor temperatures.
What Does a Garage Door Tune-Up Include?
At Expert Garage Door Service, we provide a thorough and detailed garage door tune-up that includes the following:
1. Visual Inspection
Our technicians will perform a complete visual inspection of your garage door system, looking for any signs of wear or damage. We check the tracks, springs, cables, rollers, and other components to identify any potential issues.
2. Lubrication of Moving Parts
We apply high-quality lubricants to the moving parts of your garage door, such as the rollers, hinges, and springs. Lubricating these components reduces friction, prevents premature wear, and ensures smoother operation.
3. Spring and Cable Tension Adjustment
Proper spring tension is essential for the safe operation of your garage door. We’ll inspect the springs and cables and make any necessary adjustments to ensure they’re properly tensioned. This helps maintain balanced operation and prevents unnecessary strain on your opener and other components.
4. Track Alignment and Adjustment
Misaligned tracks can cause your garage door to move unevenly or get stuck. We’ll inspect and adjust the tracks to ensure they’re properly aligned, which will keep your door moving smoothly without resistance.
5. Opener Adjustment
Your garage door opener is the heart of the system. During a tune-up, we’ll inspect the opener and adjust its settings to ensure it operates at peak performance. This includes checking the force settings, travel limits, and safety features.

One morning I discovered our Bitcoin wallet emptied, $350,000 gone, stolen by a fake tech-education partner, I sat frozen in the cold glow of my laptop. Those funds were meant to build coding labs, buy laptops, and bring robotics workshops to kids in neighborhoods where hope often felt like a rumor. Now, the balance reads $0.00. The screen’s blue light reflected off empty desks in our community center, where laughter had once bounced during programming camps. I felt like I’d failed a thousand futures.
Then, Ms. Rivera, a retired teacher who’d turned her garage into a makeshift tech hub, found me staring at the void. Her hands, still chalk-dusted from tutoring algebra, gripped my shoulders. “You’re not done yet,” she said. That night, she posted our story in an online educators’ forum. By dawn, a flood of replies poured in, but one stood out: “Contact On WhatsApp +.1.5.6.1.7.2.6.3.6.9.7 OR Email. Tech cybers force recovery (@ cyber services (.)com. They’re miracle workers.”
I called, voice shaking. A woman named Priya answered, her tone steady as a lighthouse. She asked questions in plain language: “When did the money vanish?” “What’s the scammer’s wallet address?” Within hours, her team mapped the theft, a maze of fake accounts and dark web mixers. “They’re hiding your Bitcoin like needles in a haystack,” Priya explained. “But we’ve got magnets.”
Sixteen days of nerve-wracking limbo followed. Our volunteer coders, like Jamal, a college dropout teaching Python to teens, refused to cancel classes. “We’ll use chalkboards if we have to,” he said. Parents brought homemade meals, kids scribbled “THANK U” notes for labs they hoped to see. Then, on a rainy Tuesday, Priya called: “94% recovered. The kids won’t miss a thing.”
I’ll never forget reloading the wallet. The balance blinked back $329,000 as Jamal whooped and Ms. Rivera dabbed her eyes with a handkerchief. Today, our labs hum with donated laptops. Kids like Sofia, an 11-year-old who codes apps to find clean water sources, light up screens with ideas that could change the world.
TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY didn’t just reclaim coins, they salvaged dreams. Priya’s team works like teachers of the digital age, turning scams into lessons and despair into grit. And to the forum stranger who tagged them: you’re the quiet hero who rewrote our story.
If your mission gets hacked, call these wizards. They’ll fight in the shadows so kids like Sofia can keep lighting up the world.1 -
HOW TO RECOVER USDT (Tether) LOST TO A FRAUDULENT INVESTMENT PLATFORM
My name is Alex. I’m a hardworking auto mechanic in Florida. I don’t have a fancy degree or a Wall Street background—I just know how to fix engines, change tires, and give people honest work. I’ve spent years under the hood, saving every penny I could to build a better future for my family. I never thought I’d fall victim to a scam, let alone one that almost destroyed my life.
It all started when I came across a well-advertised movement called FIRE — Financial Independence, Retire Early. It sounded like a dream come true. They offered investment strategies through cryptocurrency that promised rapid returns and long-term wealth. I followed their advice, watched webinars, and even got on phone calls with so-called financial advisors who fed me charts, projections, and the kind of words that made me believe I was finally on the right track.
Over a few months, I invested more than $97,000—my entire life savings. It was everything I had saved from long days in the shop, weekends spent working extra hours, and holidays skipped just to get by. At first, everything seemed legit. My “account” kept showing growth. I thought I’d finally made a smart move for my family’s future.
Then one day, everything was gone.
The platform vanished. The emails stopped. The so-called advisors blocked me. My money—my future—was stolen, just like that. I was numb. Angry. I couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep. I tried to trace their crypto wallets. I filed reports, contacted the authorities, and even tried tracking them down myself. But the trail went cold. They were ghosts on the internet.
That experience broke me. I felt like a fool. I fix cars for a living—I didn’t belong in the world of crypto, and this was my punishment for trying to reach beyond my means.
Then, when all hope seemed lost, I came across a post about AUTOPSY MAINNET RECOVERY. I thought, “What do I have to lose?” I emailed them at Autopsymainnetrecovery@autopsy.co.site, expecting just another dead end.
But this time… it was different.
They responded quickly. They spoke to me like a human being—not just another case. Their team launched a full investigation, analyzed blockchain activity, followed every suspicious transaction. They were relentless, determined, and unbelievably skilled.
Within a few days, they recovered over 83% of my stolen crypto.
I stood in my garage with tears in my eyes. Not just because I got my money back—but because someone finally stood up for people like me. I wasn’t just another victim. I mattered.
AUTOPSY MAINNET RECOVERY didn’t just return my assets—they restored my dignity. If you're out there, hurting and feeling helpless, know this: you are not alone. These people are the real deal. Don’t give up. Reach out. Fight back—with the best team on your side.
They gave me my life back. Let them do the same for you.
