Colleague: look how classy it gets!

Lead Dev: Just use jQuery, it'll save us from adding a whole new directive in Angular.
I'm hereby quitting as a dev and decide to become a maid in a maid cafe cos I just witnessed someone break my code with their hacky fix
seriously, fuck him. Now excuse me, I gotta don a maid uniform and chant cute noises3
Feeling like an absolute idiot after I spent an hour and a half trying to get Gnome3 to work with shell extensions, before remembering I use xfce.5

The existence of Blackboard pains me greatly.10
I have a love and hate relationship with programming. You'll see me as the happiest and most motivated person ever. The next minute, you'll see me as an extremely depressed suicidal person. Then when a code works, I jump like hell.1
Customer: can you fix my flashdrive? I think it's corrupted or something.
Me: sure no problem
*plugs in flashdrive in pc*
*tried to format*
*Disk is write protected*
Me: ... not you again.9
Nothing is more frustrating than fighting for hours with an issue, then find a single thread on a website with someone having the exact same problem as you and the only comment below is from OP with "nvm, sorted it out"
BUT HOW DID YOU DO THAT?! THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME FUCKING PROBLEM AS YOU AND YOU'RE LEAVING THEM WITH THEIR FRUSTRATION YOU IGNORANT, STUBBORN ASSHOLE!!!1
So i helped my friend write a program and i sent it to him. The next day he told me that the code dosent run, so i asked him to show me the errors and apparently he thought C and C++ is the same thing and was trying to run my C code as C++ code...5
So my pc just decided it doesn't want to run one of my python files no matter what it contains. No errors or anything, just quits as soon as I start it.
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON IT WON'T RUN EVEN IF IT'S EMPTY AND ONLY CONTAINS A PRINT, WHILE THE OTHER FILE WORKS
Edit: I created a new file and pasted the contents and it runs WHAT THE FUCK6
App fails, Check logs...No error logged. Check source code and debug....
And then you see following piece of code....
//Code to hit an API

Who here sends their releases through email 🤢🤢, because I do and because it is a closed off system, and because the company we are contracted for lives in 2008. Ah legacy systems....4
All Russian luxury brands are scam. And I mean ALL of them. No matter if it says "made in England" or "made in France" on the package, it's still a scam if it's Russian deep inside. It's just the regular shit repacked and sold at 20x the price.
Here's the algo:
1. You lookup the brand name that claims to be luxury
2. If it has something to do with Russia (Russian executives, etc) — it's a scam.
This doesn't cover the regular, non-luxury brands. AK is still a good weapon, KMS is still a good windows 10 crack :)12

I just learned the concept of this thing called REST API and now here's GraphQL showing up on me face. Mother fucking web development hell. BRB. KMS4
It's been a long time since I've felt the need to rant about anything here. This is the only appropriate place other than Reddit I can think for for now.
Why the ever-living FUCK does every 'entry-level' tech job, even fucking DESKTOP SUPPORT, require more experience than the fucking DEVELOPER AND ENGINEER OF THE INITIAL SYSTEM COULD POSSIBLY HAVE?! I'm a fucking high school kid trying to find a decent job that doesn't involve sales bullshit, because if I go into sales I'll want to KMS. Put me in a back room fixing shit, monitoring shit, better yet scripting shit or something like that and I'll be FUCKING PEACHY. I will do wonders. But no, these people must think that my resume (WHICH IS 3-YEARS STACKED WITH INTERNSHIPS ***IN TECHNOLOGY***) is bullshit. WOW.
Fuck this. I'm sick of looking for these shitty jobs that'll make me want to jump off of a bridge into a cliff which I'll then voluntarily fall off of into shark infested piranha water. Can't there just be a simple "Hey, we need a guy who can fix tech, maybe help people within the company with their computer issues, you look nice" kind of job? I haven't had fucking TIME to get any kind of certifications yet. I just got into fucking college, FOR BUSINESS IT NONETHELESS. DOES THAT PROVE I'M AT LEAST FUCKING INTERESTED IN WHAT I SAY I AM FUCKERS?!7
UPDATE ON THE SCHOOL NETWORKING SITUATION:
the entire country has entered total self-isolation for 3 weeks, which means no physical school for 3 weeks. I have to suffer at home for 3 weeks.

How have I not used KVM before 5 minutes ago? Am I mentally challenged?? This makes my work load wayy easier
When you try and replace the hard drive in your dev machine because the replacement you bought for someone else doesn't work but works for you. You go to turn the computer back on but nothing comes on screen........
When your PC is slow af cause of the hard disk so you make a dumb decision and change your hard disk with a new one and you gotta install Windows on it but you only have very old images of it so it requires a special USB driver to install the system and THEN you realise the setup image has NO DRIVERS for ethernet, wlan OR usb so you can do absolutely NOTHING with your fresh system so you decide to install linux instead but you realise YOU'VE REMOVED ALL X64 IMAGES BECAUSE YOU'RE FUCKING DUMB SO you prepare a bootable Kali USB to copy basic drivers and DriverBooster into the hard disk to install them on Windows.
AND THEN YOUR FRIENDS CALL YOU AND TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE 2 EXAMS TOMORROW BUT YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE THE COMPUTER SO YOU JUST GO FUCKING KILL YOURSELF
This is why I HATE MY LIFE SO MUCH IT GOES SO WRONG !!!!4
Any motivation/good thoughts for me? I am just in a meh state , when a lot of shit awaits me.
- At work , there was this bug solving task assigned to me on Wednesday, i had figured out the approach by friday evening, which was 90% working, but for 10% i have to understand the whole class on which i was applying my solution . And the class was a god class, 8000 lines of code which was doing so many tasks that other bugs would creep in out of nowhere and not a single person would know.
I wanted the senior to explain me some codeflow so i could begin some refactoring , but he went to taking some interview. Amd never pinged me back. My approach would also require changing base classes and classes that other code depends upon , so his approval is necessary.
So here i am, into a fresh new Saturday, a weekend, with my hands tied regarding office work.
I could have attempted to make changes in my local branch or tried attempting to understand code, but had a college rrelated shit( covered below) so dropped that.
- I also looked into some very interesting concepts and adapter workings while solving this bug that i wanted to research more into it , but again the college related shit.
-Now its sunday night , when i would wake up, i would again go back to college related shit work. And not do anything to get that bug solved. A fresher teen, just 15 days as junion into the best company i could hope for, and am giving shit performance like this :/
- i also lost 2 of my marksheets in march... At that time i was very active and immediately travelled 60 kms to amd fro the university and my clg to get all the formalities done. Now all that was left was to collect marksheets after one month when they would call . Never received the call, nor did i tried to get them because of covid. Now everything is functional since last 3 months and i just couldn't get my ass to call them and ask about my marksheets. I am sure they are gonna make me run and pay the money again, fuck
- And here comes the college shit. I failed an exam 2 years ago. Gave it again and still failed. Now this exam is over my head on November 2. I gave this subject around 2 months this year, making notes reading the concepts , etc. This subject is so boring that even after attempting it twice and making 140 page notes on all possible parts of syllabus, i still can't remember or understand the shit of it . I am trying to make myself remember the syllabus by doing test papers, but couldn't get myself to do 6/30 questions today, THE WHOLE DAY, without getting diverted.
I can see the failures in front of my eyes. Failure in exam because of my laziness to study. Failure in job because i wasted my time to get things done
I am ruining my time. Need some motivation , good thoughts anything will do :(9
Ah a Monday rant. How wonderful a day.
I cleared a project with my boss how dynamic each section on a frontpage should be. This and this needs to be dynamic on each page load. All in the beginning of the project.
Now in the end, he changes his opinion by writing to me in Slack. "Remember, that this section needs to automatically draw X from this other page."
Now I have to redo it, since I made it as static content since that is what was asked of me. Now he blames me for why I never did it correctly in the first place.
they're having me log my time in 30 minute increments, with each 30 minute block assigned to a jira ticket, as well as keeping track of my slack status throughout the day3
Windows : fuck you i delete your KMS file
Windose : your licence is expiring in 30 days
Me: re apply KMS and disable that fucking useless anti virus
Window just self permit to delete my file with no fucking reason and not notify me in is shiti settings panel1
So I found my dream college. They have video game development which can seriously help me out in my work. Problem is I need to raise my GPA to a 3.0 and score a 18 on the ACT testing my school does in order to get accepted. My current GPA is 1.7 and I don't know what my score was on my last PSAT. Kms2
I've been practicing really hard on C# the last few days and it really doesn't feel like I'm making any real progress. Everything I'm doing is in console and when people in my class see it I get treated like a idiot because most of my classmates took the C# or C++ courses while I focused on web...3
I took 9 days off. Two 3-days long-weekends included.
First long-weekend went in Holi celeberations.
Weekdays went in planning and executing trip to Vaishno Devi.
Second long-weekend went in resting because Vaishno Devi is a hiking pilgrimage of a total of 30+ kms and 650+ kms away from my house. Totally loved the trip, though. Always a pleasure.
After 9 days of leaves, I come back feeling somewhat mentally fresh and rested.
The very next day, I catch cold and fever. Whole body fucked up. Skull paining from sneezing and blowing nose too much. Body paining from weakness and little fever.
Now.. I don’t want to work at all. Even little work gives me stress. Even though I have time to complete it.
I mean 😪
What an unnecessary hell after 9 days of heaven.2
So sick of my coworker explaining to me how I should do a task. Dude, I've already planned out how I'm going to handle the situation. If you really want to help, wait until I create my pull request, review it, and then make your suggestions there. Unless I ask for your advice on how to do something, I don't need you to tell me how you would do things, especially since i have, what, 5 years working in the framework when you have 2 months?
Here I am wondering why I can't click the image then I realize I forgot to tell the html file where the JS file is.....1
Me and a friend are making a discord bot, and added a warning command to warn users.
All was going well, and when we tested the deleting a warning it seemed fine. I then tried to delete all the warnings one by one, when we came across a problem. It wont delete the last warning in the array, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc? Thats fine, just the last index that isnt working.
Our code is like this:
list = data.warns//a list of JSON format warnings
console.log(list)//shows the value is in the list
console.log(list[index])//shows the value
console.log(list)//shows its gone
data.warns = list;
console.log(data.warns)//shows the value is still no longer present
data.save().catch(blah blah)//no error is caught, and nothing crashes, it proceeds to send a message to the channel after this
but then the value at index is still there in the database as if it didn't save it, but only if the index is the last item in the array.
We have been stuck on this for over an hour and I now remember why I hate programming.2
Fucking spent a full day fixing a very big issue.
Very happy to have found a solution.
Time to pack my shit up and go home.
Realize that I didn't git pull.
Seems like I fixed that bitch issue last night when I couldn't sleep.
Since I did not sleep I might have been too tired to recall that.
🤔 Guess I'll kms
So as a personal project for work I decided to start data logging facility variables, it's something that we might need to pickup at some point in the future so decided to take the initiative since I'm the new guy.
I setup some basic current loop sensors are things like gas line pressures for bulk nitrogen and compressed air but decided to go with a more advanced system for logging the temperature and humidity in the labs. These sensors come with 'software' it's a web site you host internally. Cool so I just need to build a simple web server to run these PoE sensors. No big deal right, it's just an IIS service. Months after ordering Server 2019 though SSC I get 4 activation codes 2 MAK and 2 KMS. I won the lottery now i just have to download the server 2019 retail ISO and... Won't take the keys. Back to purchasing, "oh I can download that for you, what key is yours". Um... I dunno you sent me 4 Can I just get the link, "well you have to have a login". Ok what building are you in I'll drive over with a USB key (hoping there on the same campus), "the download keeps stopping, I'll contact the IT service in your building". a week later I get an install ISO and still no one knows that key is mine. Local IT service suggests it's probably a MAK key since I originally got a quote for a retail copy and we don't run a KMS server on the network I'm using for testing. We'll doesn't windows reject all 4 keys then proceed to register with a non-existent KMS server on the network I'm using for testing. Great so now this server that is supposed to connected to a private network for the sensors and use the second NIC for an internet connection has to be connected to the old network that I'm using for testing because that's where the KMS server seems to be. Ok no big deal the old network has internet except the powers that be want to migrate everything to the new more secure network but I still need to be connected to the KMS server because they sent me the wrong key. So I'm up to three network cards and some of my basic sensors are running on yet another network and I want to migrate the management software to this hardware to have all my data logging in one system. I had to label the Ethernet ports so I could hand over the hardware for certification and security scans.
So at this point I have my system running with a couple sensors setup with static IP's because I haven't had time to setup the DNS for the private network the sensors run on. Local IT goes to install McAfee and can't because it isn't compatible with anything after 1809 or later, I get a message back that " we only support up to 1709" I point out that it's server 2019, "Oh yeah, let me ask about that" a bunch of back and forth ensues and finally Local IT get's a version of McAfee that will install, runs security scan again i get a message back. " There are two high risk issues on your server", my blood pressure is getting high as well. The risks there looking at McAfee versions are out of date and windows Defender is disabled (because of McAfee).
There's a low risk issue as well, something relating to the DNS service I didn't fully setup. I tell local IT just disable it for now, then think we'll heck I'll remote in and do it. Nope can't remote into my server, oh they renamed it well that's lot going to stay that way but whatever oh here's the IP they assigned it, nope cant remote in no privileges. Ok so I run up three flights of stairs to local IT before they leave for the day log into my server yup RDP is enabled, odd but whatever let's delete the DNS role for now, nope you don't have admin privileges. Now I'm really getting displeased, I can;t have admin privileges on the network you want me to use to support the service on a system you can't support and I'm supposed to believe you can migrate the life safety systems you want us to move. I'm using my system to prove that the 2FA system works, at this rate I'm going to have 2FA access to a completely worthless broken system in a few years. good thing I rebuilt the whole server in a VM I'm planning to deploy before I get the official one back. I'm skipping a lot of the ridiculous back and forth conversations because the more I think about it the more irritated I get.1
TFW 'this' in functions loses its context when in promise chains and none of the blogs mentioned it :^)1
