You know what's funny?
Being called Jason.
Developers when talking about APIs and similar stuff: "So if you connect to our API you can get XML or JSON-" <pause>
<looks at me with a smirk like "haha! JSON/JASON LOL!">
<I gently smile like saying "yes. yes. I know. Thank you">
Sigh15 -
Wife has literally the best IT job in the city. First wall of miners up and running. From my previous post of the 8 card boxes to this -- stacks of them and more stacks of bitmains. Fuck I wish these were ours. I know one IT honey that's getting chased around the house tonight cause she's sending me pics like this:11

Went to see Jason Bourne last night. No spoilers, but I'm guessing this is how the writers came up with the story:
Writer 1: Let's make it super techie
W2: Yeah, that way it's about current issues, like Internet privacy.
W1: Should we hire a tech consultant so we get things right?
W2: Nah, I saw the Matrix once, I understand computers.
Actual line from film:
"Use SQL to corrupt their database"
😑13 -
One of the dev in my team literally asked us (other student devs, professor, and a guy from the company we were working with) this question during a weekly scrum meeting:
"Who is this Jason you guys keep talking about? He never showed up to any of our meetings!".
A bit of context: we were 6 weeks (halfway) into our FINAL YEAR PROJECT for a bachelor in software engineering...
I thought at first he was joking...9 -
Jason Bourne movie:
"Use SQL to corrupt their database!"
In my head: "Seriously? That's like saying 'Use a computer to hack them!', 5 bucks says someone is going to say "ENHANCE" on a blurry photo."
3 Min later. 'ENHANCE!'"4 -
Our Service Oriented Architecture team is writing very next-level things, such as JSON services that pass data like this:
<JSON>
<Data>
...
</Data>
</JSON>23 -
Every time I read "JSON" I get Heavy Rain in my head.
"Jason! Ja-son! Jason!"

My wife wants to name our son "Jason". I suggested "JSON" but she didn't respond code 200. She's a doctor. :-/2

Got into a big argument with my lead developer today.
The thing is....he says that the Red Ranger, the original one (Jason) is the most powerful ranger. And we know this is bullshit because even Zordon said that the White Ranger is the most powerful one of them all. But his argument was that Jason did best the Green Ranger in combat. Man that don't mean jack shit.
The White Ranger is the best and I don't care what you say.
The things I have to endure I swear.10 -
Just wanted to say my co-worker Jason is a bitch, thanks for handing me broken projects to fix. He's always on this so I hope he sees this 🙃8
-
When you watch the new Jason Bourne and see people from CIA hacking a laptop from an Old cellular with a "shell code", or other people saying "use SQL to hack the database"3
-
A Visual Studio solution that had 62 (SIXTY TWO) projects for a webpage that was like 8 user forms total was like going to a shop to buy 3 items and receiving 15 tickets for that.
PMs saying no to refactoring due to not having enough time for a months. The first task took me 2 days just by fixing cyclic dependencies among the libraries. Went home and merged all the projects to just 3, building instantly in just two hours. Fuck idiot PMs that do not know how to code, buys shit and don't listen to devs. Fuck all idiots.4 -
I am at the lowest point of my mental health. Lol
I hope it doesn't get any lower than this because I have reached my breaking point.
I have nobody to talk to. I don't want to be a cry baby, nagging and whining all the time.
My friends here Jason (from Zurich and not Australia) and Rutee07 were in similar position when I last spoke to them here. I wonder what happened to them!
Shall I call in for yet another superficial therapy session? Or shall I just wait for the feeling to pass and continue being busy?21 -
OK I've just got an idea that I think would be quite neat:
How about a virtual rubber duck that sits in the corner of your editor? Just like the gem in old Word, if you remember. It's yellow and quacks sometimes, and nods understandingly when you talk to it (mic monitoring).
And it also monitors your typing and says (popup text bubble) things like:
"those parentheses doesn't look balanced to me"
"did you really initialize that variable?"
"you wrote JASON again"
"you forgot the ;"
You get the point.
I don't have time to implement, feel free to steal my idea and become a millionaire.5 -
I will smash your fucking nerf gun over your head. Why is 30-40 yr old men acting like my kids even a thing. No other industry treats talent like infants. Nor does any other industry seem to have so many adult children present. </rant>9

I just realized, that not just my name is Jason, like JSON. I also have the same birthday, as the creator(Brendan Eich) of JavaScript (and Brave + Mozilla)
That's gotta be a calling for me to really get into JS -
Once again I have loads.
My best teachers were...
The contractor that taught me C#, ASP MVC and SQL Server. Dude was a legend, so calm and collected. He wanted to learn JQuery and Bootstrap so at the same time as teaching, he was learning from me. Such an inspirational person, to know your subordinates still have something to teach you. He also taught me a lot about working methodically and improving my pragmatism.
The other, in school I studied computing A-Level. 100% scored at least one of the exams... basically I knew my stuff.
But, as a kid, I didn’t know how to formulate my answers, or even string together coherent answers for the exams. This dude noticed, first thing he did was said “well you’re better at this bit than me, practice but you’ll be fine” (manually working out two’s complement binary of a number).
Second thing he did was say “you know what man, you know what you’re on about but nobody else is ever going to know that”.
He helped me on the subjects I wasn’t perfect on, then he helped me on formulating my answers correctly.
He also put up with my shit attendance, being a teenager with a motorcycle who thinks he knows it all, has its downsides.
As a result, I aced the hell out of that course, legendary grades and he got himself a bit of a bonus for it to use on his holiday. Everyone’s a winner.
Liam, Jason, if you guys are out there I owe you both thanks for making me the person I am today.
The worst, I’ve had too many to name... but it comes down to this:
- identify your students strengths and weaknesses, focus on the weaknesses
- identify your own and know when to ask for help yourself
- be patient, learning hurts.
You can always tell a passionate teacher from one who’s there for the paycheck.1 -
So my real name is jason and I got the habit to use Json as my nickname as a little Dev pun.
I think I overdid it3 -
Jason arrived at the front of the queue, approached the restful priest, hands open.
The priest said, "body of request" -
So, I'll explain how my day went with just 2 sentences.
1: Difference between crontab -e and crontab -r.
2: The keys 'E' and 'R' are right next to each other!
If you've understood what just happened, your next question should be "Jason, which environment?"
"PRODUCTION!!!"8 -
Me: Browsing DevRant
Me: seeing recent post of @Phlisg
Mhhh 🤔
Why didn't I rant about this?
I literally called myself Json because my name is Jason and there is JSON.
Btw @EaZyCode made fun of me because of this years ago1 -
I use to work in companies that have none or one female dev. The guys hired a girl and placed her seat in the farthest corner from the Air Conditioner.
Idiots. All others pleasing her with any stupid request, like "it's hot in here, can I turn on the AC?" and all others say "YES OF COURSE" as they can pronounce those words while drooling.
You know what? She puts the AC in 18 CELCIUS (64 Farenheit, - you're welcome)
I AM RIGHT UNDER THE AC, I'M COMMUTING TO THE OFFICE WITH EXTRA CLOTHING IN SUMMER BECAUSE OF THOSE IDIOTS. I HAVE TO PROTECT MYSELF OF GETTING A COLD IN SUMMER BECAUSE OF OTHER'S INABILITY TO MANAGE THEIR TESTORONE.4 -
.Dispose();
.Close();
.Dispose();
what an idiot! and his profile said he had 4 years of experience...
oh, yes, and that thing of not using arrays...
I have even more code from this guy, but one picture is enough -

I think that win devs that are scared of using a terminal are not real devs. We write structured instructions every day, a terminal is just the same. If they are scared of that they should try writing code with a mouse or devote themselves to artistic painting.
BTW PowerShell sucks for typing, and bash for windows is like a travesty shell4 -
What does my current job hate descriptive names? Like to the point of active antagonism? We're a subscription based service. Why is SubscriptionExpiration the date you log in? Why does SubscriptionStatus only contain the name and id of product you're subscribed to and nothing to do with an actual status? All I need is the date a user subscribed. Why is this so hard!?!?7

"Design is not about innovation. Design is about communication. Innovation in design is usually a wonderful byproduct or direct result of a particular need. Design that seeks to foremost be innovative will commonly fall apart under its own stylistic girth. " - Jason Santa Maria

PATH TOO LONG
FUCK WINDOWS
it has gigs and gigs and asks for more but in the end, it's geological layers of shit on top of each other, turtles all the way down and the last one stands over DOS3 -
Wait.. how the fuck did Jase get @Jason username?
Does that mean @Jason left dR?
Damn fuck! Another good friend I am trying to connect left the place.6 -
Technical typos that make me laugh:
- Fill stack developer
- Knowledge of Jason and ajaz
- CSS and saas
- Angular / view / reaction Java skills1 -

Since Robert Patterson will be the next Batman, why not cast Taylor Lautner as Jason Todd, Kristen Stewart as Barbara Gordon and Billy Burke as Jim Gordon.
If you do this, you better go the whole nine yards.2 -
Jason Bourne logic: type "run predictive algorithm" without any parameters into a terminal and it returns the locations of whatever you want. Either that function is the _best_ at predicting user input, or its variables are so hardcoded that we've just discovered the hardest material on earth2
-
Doing fresh install of windows 10, and every time I uninstall some of their bloatware bullshit games, the damn thing reinstalls them! I have to edit the registry... We really are the fucking products. Windows 10 fuckery https://imgur.com/gallery/NllgVwA

Ok ok.. I used a German keyboard so Y and Z are switched. Ive never seen a picture of Jason Mraz but I really like his music so I wanted to YouTube him.. and my muscle memory did this.2
-
Anyone seen the series "You Are Wanted Wanted" with the german actor Matthias Schweighöfer on Amazon? (Don't know if it's available outside of Germany)
Anyways.. they basically took scenes from various known digital works and put them in there. And whenever that happened i felt the cringe rising in me..:I
Examples are faked cctv recordings as seen in prison break, JASON with the red balloon, heavy rain and the all people are hacked and used thing from a black mirror episode..1 -
Here we go again! Fukerberg is up to his same 'ol played out trick, can't aquire'em, copy'em. 🙄

Game-devs I have a question:
What's is a regular or recommend workflow when developing a game that has a good/elaborated background story.
Let's say you are developing a game like Metal Gear or Resident Evil.
Where does the writing of the story get in? At the beginning? Your write the whole story or at list the majority of it before putting the game together?
And what's the writing style for a videogame story? You write it like a book? Or is more specific for a game?
I mean, your character Jason meets a boss and fights it: do you write: "Jasons finds evil genius hideout and meets him" or instead "the player gets to the boss and the fight starts"?
Sorry for the long question.6 -
Why did Jason cover himself with bubble wrap?
Because he wanted to make a cross-domain JSONP request. -
Today I came across someone named Jason. I told them that they had spelled their name wrong. It took me a while to remember that no, Jason is the original spelling.

JsonLint ParsingException "composer.json does not contain valid JSON" is an incorrect statement. The file contains 99% valid JSON except for 1 incorrect character which is correctly pointed out as an "Invalid string, it appears you have an unescaped backslash at: \-dev".
And why do people in tutorials keep calling it "Jay's on" instead of "Jason" like "Jackson"? I can only imagine what they would call the "King of Pop" musician ... "my cal Jack's Onn"?6 -
I'm working in a project that seems to be like a Multiplayer Tetris of Little Poo:
- figure out what the heck you have to code, because there is no debugging, the deploy to your devenv takes ages, the documentation does not exist or is unreadable, plus you are new and you are in a different timezone
- once you have your code, slowly pass the reviews of your remote team that will complain for every little extra line you've added for readability, slowly converting your code into a poo-like form, until it is completely shaped as shit
- repeat steps 1-2 until you pass the linter
- the carefully place your shit-shaped-code in the right place of the pile of shit
- wait for someone else to complain (like 'please rebase' 'new lint rule please fix' - oh, did I mention that? lint rules do not match between local, review and deploy?
- repeat from step 1 until you quit your job (which will happen in a few weeks) -
the amount of things that get to work by restarting Visual Studio or Windows makes evident that VS/WIN is just like a clogged toilet.
ABANDON THAT PLATFORM, SHITHEADS! -
SAD END😭😭
The world of cinema is in mourning as the actor Jason Statham, who plays Frank Martin in the film "the transporter" was shot in his home in New York by thieves who broke into his home.
He wanted to stand against them to protect his family but the thugs were right about him.
He was shot 4 bullets one in the head three in the chest 😭
This all happened around 2:18 am in a movie I watched last night.
SAD END🙄🤫8 -
I wish they'd make the idea of gifting a large number of offspring with longevity a happy one. I don't want these creatures hurting my kids so I'm not giving them any
Oh
And welcome to fort Collins

And didn't matt Damon play Jason Bourne ?
Yup. That's about right.
