Someone on the IP 127.0.0.1 has been creating a lot of bugs in my code, please beware of you notice any connections from that address.15
-
Today, I learned the shortest command which will determine if a ping from your machine can reach the Internet:
ping 1.1
This parses as 1.0.0.1, which thanks to Cloudflare, is now the IP address of an Internet-facing machine which responds to ICMP pings.
Oh, you can also use this trick to parse 10.0.0.x from `10.x` or 127.0.0.1 from `127.1`. It's just like IPv6's :: notation, except less explicit.8 -
There WAS a time, when I was small, I made a Minecraft server , and asked my friends to join my server at 127.0.0.113

I just found new band called "localhost". They recently published their new album named "127.0.0.1" with an awesome song "It works on my machine".
It's awesome :D9 -

So my friend who was a working as Tech/System Intern and soon to be junior sysadmin asked me "How was pinging 127.0.0.1 successfull? I am not even connected to the internet?"1

Another day of happy coding :)1 -

Most programming shirts/hoodies really suck. They fall into two categories:
1. Super lame pun quotes in an ugly font.
2. Memes transfer-printed onto cheap fabric
I'm not against puns, or quotes. I quite like the design from @AlexDeLarge
https://devrant.io/rants/830390/, and I've been looking for a nice shirt with Dijkstra's "simplicity is a prerequisite for reliability" on it.
But many do not put any thought into beautiful design, and shit like "No place like 127.0.0.1", "404 girlfriend not found" or "There are 10 kinds of people" really stopped being funny a decade ago.
Good design, colors & quality are so fucking important.
What are your favorite dev-related clothes?16 -
I have a VPS for under a year from Digital Ocean. No idea what to do with it.
Specs:
20GB Disk

A spare domain from Namecheap

Ideas?42 -
So I found this in the code:
Inet4Address.getByAddress (new byte[] {0x7f,0x00,0x00,0x01})
It's localhost. Why the actual fuck would you declare 127.0.0.1 as a fucking byte array!15 -
Received a new client.
"Hi can you help me redesign my website?"
Me: "Sure what's your sites URL?"
(Checking out site before I take clients)
C: "127.0.0.1"5 -
(maybe) unpopular opinion
I hate the I'm at 127.0.0.1|localhost meme
It's a loopback address
It's like saying I live at home
Like why do people think it's funny or smart to post stuff like that
Even the doormat that was going around isn't necessary accurate, since it's per machine (in this case a human).
Like if you have the home saying it's localhost then you are obviously not.
Maybe I'm just being mean here but it's like really annoying after a while4 -

me: But I see you are able to SSH into EC2 instances.
colleague: Well, I am running my nodejs app on 8080 but can't access it over the Internet. Works fine on my laptop though.
me: ec2_prod ~# netstat | grep node
lolol -> 127.0.0.1:8080 node
Turns out it was running on localhost IP. Worked fine on his laptop though.3 -
Had a guy text me saying that he developed a Discord clone 5 hours into a frontend bootcamp. Intrigued, I asked him to send me a link to it, because for a person starting from scratch, that's great!
And send me a link he did. Check it out, and give me your reviews.

Watching a piece (a Belgian TV series) about hackers
- Police IT dpt takes a burned down computer (literally burned down -- black from the smoke), plug it into the mains and remove a graphics card. To collect evidence from.
- A policeman from IT dpt is browsing some company's website (while at the police station), looking at their clients. Address bar says: 127.0.0.1.
- The police hacker is browsing some forum. She got the post author's IP and MAC addresses from that forum post metainfo.

Anyone else like stickers for their laptop, but not the stereotypical "there's no place like 127.0.0.1" stickers?
Like I've got one for a local charity that supports teaching underprivileged kids that want to learn how to surf, a cooler brand one, one for my school, a clothing brand I like, ect?
Idk I just don't like the typical computer nerd stickers 🤷🤷6 -
Me: Hey girl, what's your address?

Have some troubles with MySQL server with multiple instances.
After some search, I have a “bind-address” parameter set to “127.0.0.1”
Changed to “localhost” do the trick. Love my work.7 -
Fucking mongodb... the name is really fitting "mongol db"..
I get that a NoSQL db can be very useful but holy crap mongodb is shit..
Even better is the security.. holy shit it's insecure..
"Just use the configuration to only allow 127.0.0.1" stfu that shit apparently doesn't work on fucking centos..
And yes my customer did get hacked
And yes they did blame me
And yes I did have a backup5 -
And then the PEN-Tester said... "MySQL configured to allow connections from 127.0.0.1. Recommend configuration change to not allow remote connections." hahahaha!

Just spent three and a half hours reconfiguring security cameras and troubleshooting over and over why the fuck internal and external weren’t reachable...
I failed to realize the DDNS was handing out the IP of 127.0.0.1 and 3.0.0.0 because nothing fucking stated that up until I found a small text link to the camera’s DDNS registration page... logged in with the customers info and low and behold the mother fucker was handing stupid shit out.
I hate that I overlook the simplest shit when I’m stressed and in a rush...
I need to learn to take deep breaths, but fuck that... I want to blow shit up.1 -
Returning back to the C# with NET Core was a mistake.
Currently working on a simple web project and I'm already stuck with the simplest problem: cannot connect to the local PostgreSQL instance.
"Cannot resolve host", bull-fucking-shit, localhost is not resolvable, 127.0.0.1 is not resolvable.
Better enough, tried to run Dns.GetHostEntry (which failed from the stack trace) on same localhost and... It's working... Why it's not working on the fucking Npgsql, why it's not working in the lib.
Now I totally understand that I don't get Microsoft's way of solving problems.13 -
Last night there was a hellstorm of weather that ripped off 10m thick trees out of its fucking ROOTS and smashed cars, traffic lights ripped off, some roofs ripped off, containers flying fucking everywhere, floods and it all went away within 2 hours as if nothing happened
Electricity is fucked and Of Course i lost my internet connection. I dont have my fucking wifi. Im using mobile 4g
I try to continue coding on my project AND LOCALHOST CAN NOT RUN IF I DONT HAVE WIFI??? WTF IS THIS HORSESHIT?
WHY a NEXTJS APP CAN NOT RUN AT 127.0.0.1 IP ADDRESS JUST BECAUSE MY INTERNET IS DEAD FROM SHITSTORM??? WTF DOES LOCAL NETWORK HAVE TO DO WITH THE INTERNET
I SWEAR MAN SOME HIGHER FORCE DOES NOT LET ME WIN
ALL THIS BULLSHIT AINT MY FAULT NO MORE ITS SOME BULLSHIT HIGHER FORCE TAKEN OVER RN9 -
My friend and me sit next to each other in the class.
One day, he tell me about his family. they have code equivalent of most common English words.
when the COVID-19 pandemic occur in our country, his father warn everyone in the house by saying

wear("255.255.255.0")
everyone start to
search(mask)
return tohome;

127.0.0.1 is a loopback address. aka localhost
IP masking is a way to hide your real IP.
255.255.255.0 is an example of subnet mask for IP
we used Ruby in this story.19 -
Which one is IPv6 loop-back address ?
A. ::01
B. 127.0.0.1
C. ::1
D. ::10
E. I put a loop-back on your loop-back
F. None of the above16 -

Googled for about 2 hours now and can't get this shit working. Trying to launch the Android Wear Emulator through Android Studio using KitKat 4.4 API. I created a new device within the device manager using 512 MB RAM and 128 MB VM. Square Display.
I am running on osx 10.11 El Capitan on Software Acceleration (because hardware doesnt even boot to the android logo). I get the following error when running using ./emulator:
Error while connecting to socket '127.0.0.1:1970': 61 -> Connection refused
emulator: ASC 127.0.0.1:1970: Retrying connection. Connector FD = 25
What does it mean? I couldnt find an asnwer on the net.2 -
2 hours of pain today, just because I forgot that inside the container 127.0.0.1 is not equal to my host IP !! Grrr
-
the localhost guys must be pretty pumped going live. Like going to the galaxies from the earth. All the space adventure fighting the viruses, getting beaten by them. woooohoooo!
nostalgic. almost. -
Idk what the fuck happened, but for some reason the API I was working with just started to refuse to connect.
So I try to ping the page, and the ping is below 1ms. Look at ip 127.0.0.1 Fuck me I guess.
Does someone know what could cause something like this?3 -
Mongodb CEO and the developer who build this shit for brains interface should be tarred and feathered. Almost 90minutes in and I cannot connect to anything other than error codes. What in the actual fuck is your job other than to make it difficult for a "free tier" user to connect?
"connect ECONNREFUSED 127.0.0.1:27017"
Oh ok another 20 minutes of work and you give me a bland beige error code like "```TLS/SSL is disabled. If possible, enable TLS/SSL to avoid security vulnerabilities.```"... um ok how do I enable it for your site, your database or on my computer... oh wait you don't say shit do you?
So now I'm fully 81 minutes into this shit show and all I get for error codes are these really descriptive gems 'getaddrinfo ENOTFOUND cluster0.hudbd.mongodb 'dot' net` comes up if I choose `mongo` with "connection string scheme" above it or `bad auth : Authentication failed'7 -
So I a using the ssh installed with git on Windows.
I am trying to forward a port on my internal network server which is also my ssh server. I have exposed my network server on a forwarded port on my router. When I try to forward using this command I get a connection reset on my web service on my server.
ssh -nNT -p <port on router> -L 8000:192.168.0.22:8000 <sshuser@router>
I can log into ssh normally. So I am really confused. the 192.x.x.x address is the internal ip of the server. On a browser I try to connect to the 127.0.0.1:8000. It says the connection is reset. I assume it is being refused. So it tries to connect to something, but it fails.
I can connect to the web server from within the internal network via 192.168.0.22:8000. Really confused as to what is failing here.5
