Apparently, working from home means "you are available 24/7 right?" at my current workplace. I am grateful that I have a job, but I do not dig getting emails or my guys getting harassed after hours for things that would normally have to wait until the next day.
I also dislike getting woken up by the Head of Department 1 hour to 2 hours before normal time because of something super-duper-zomg urgent that would normally wait. Which is why my phone is now on silence for phone calls and my notifications for emails is out after hours.11 -
worst part of WFH:
- The work PC is the game PC
- The game PC is the work PC
- Feels like i'm playing while working
- Feels like i'm working while playing7 -
- not seeing and hugging my colleagues (I miss hugs SO much, with everyone)
- everything being online, which makes it less serious and more like a game I can just turn off. It makes it very hard to keep myself motivated7 -
[least fav part of wfh]
Not being able to have a conversation with coworkers.
No whiteboard.
No spaceous modern desk setup.
No distraction free environment.
No free coffee and lunch.
No 1500W sound system.
No 2gbps internet.6 -
Manager: Good news, company will pay for extra internet cost while we work from home.
Employee: Will the cost of electricity consumed by the laptop be reimbursed?
:|4 -
No table and monitor, and having to work ALL THE TIME. Our team structure changed recently, and a coworker with 2 years of experience is my lead. He wakes up at 11-12 in the morning, starts working by around 2, takes enough breaks and sleeps at like 5 AM. He assigns tasks late in the evening and night. Expects people to finish it staying up late, because if he can, why can't we. Most of the time, it's like, hey, just push a little and finish it tonight, we have other things to do tomorrow.
And team mates who can NOT work without help from other people and text and call you every hour.4 -
My team now does daily mini-standups: what you did, what you will do, what's blocking u
But with this wfh, I feel like slacking more or just seen to have less critical work to do... but not sure if the other guys are just "padding their list" or actually really busy.
So wondering when I have nothing to do for work/no defined deadlines or deliverables... How do you look busy?
I do have a lot of optional tech debt improvement work I could do but basically these are like backlog... And not really fun.6 -
I can't seem to keep track of my time. I start early and finish late. Should I take a day or two off??2
-
Working hours basically never end.
Pair that with a very tight schedule and you have the perfect recipe for working from 9AM until 1:30AM everyday including weekends (what are those again?)3 -
Instead of "work from home", I expected "rest from home" at least till Corona goes away.
But I am a pro-grammer.1 -
1. I have Animal Crossing
2. My internet can drop to 0.8Mbps
3. I have Animal Crossing
4. My internet can drop out 10 times a day
5. I have animal crossing
6. My office pc is my gaming rig
7. I have... I think you get the gist1 -
Being alone for so much of the time.
Kinda miss being around my colleagues. Luckily I have a cat that keeps me accompanied during the day!3 -
My motivation disappears day by day more when wfh. Always sitting in the same flat drives me crazy and I'm missing socializing (as a person more on the introvert side).3
-
I adore working from home. However there is one negative I’ve found and that is moving my wheeled chair on carpet 😒5
-
I really miss my company-issued stand-up desk, and actually going to a different facility every morning: both the drive and the office. I also miss being able to go to someone else's desk, or walking right up to a white board to hash something out at a moment's notice.
This is really my first experience working from home at length, save for 3 weeks I had when my son was born (in lieu of a paternity leave). I have to say, I don't particularly care for working remotely. It'd be different I suppose if i was able to be a digital nomad and work from different locations, but being confined to my own four walls blows. I much prefer working in an office with other devs and being able to collaborate face-to-face, without all the damn giphy's in slack.1 -
Like most said, the home part 😂
I rejected the remote opportunity and decided to move to California in December, just to be locked at home for 2 months now8 -
It sucks when you’re also poor cause you need to go out to ex. empty trash can. If you’re living in small apartment it will get claustrophobic sooner or later. If you live with family you’re hero if you won’t kill them.
Now if I can’t travel around I see no gain at all and only pain points.
So if you can’t afford big house with swimming pool, gardener, maid, bar and bartender, private lake and car racing track you still need to go outside of your property.
So if you’re poor and you’re working remotely during pandemic you will most likely gain depression, claustrophobia and other mental illness that will sooner or later ruin your and other people’s life except psychologists if only you can afford one.2 -
Whenever I open my laptop, my cat jumps, sits on the keyboard and does not move.
Meanwhile, my dog stays busy with his bone *_*6 -
Mostly, it's being interrupted by my fam a lot. Also, recently my laptop's wi-fi adapter went turtle mode (of all the times - during quarantine).3
-
Doing it at my own time
And not having to worry about sitting position jus to look busy and professional when the boss/manager walks in/by the office2 -
I'm just as good on social interaction as i have been before hand, and not much changed at all... except my family. They've always been gigantic bastards, but it's getting ridiculous.

Work from home..7 weeks..daily
meeting.start with using skype, then google meet,.after that zoom, after that microsoft teams and back to skype now..3 -
While working from home, we cannot discuss anything evil about our Manager (or others) as messages may be tracked.2
-
Actually there are some things:
- Knowing when to stop or switch off from work;
- Too many video calls and meetings;
- No lunch time with team mates;
And many more that I'm sure that I'm forgetting 😅 -
The fucking sun in my (home-)office burns my eyes and I see fucke nothing!
Not even with a light theme.5 -
I can't get a regular shedule. I mean I try to plan my days but I either do a lot of stuff a few days and after that a few days of barely anything because I'm exhausted from doing so much the days before, I never keep up to my plans.4
-
Lack of communication, well the communication is there via instant messaging and some video calls, but it's much slower than usual.
And the lack of free coffee of course. -
I imagined working from home would be some magnificent event. The relaxation, the freedom, the parties! I thought it might be like this:
https://youtube.com/watch/...
However, the reality is that it is still a grind with more distractions. It is easier to get sidetracked. Not like how I would have hoped it would be.
